IPad2 - IOS 8.0.2 - Available Updates Screen Doesn't Refresh
Just took my IPad2 which was already running slow after the 8.0 update to 8.0.2
So far things seem okay but I have three App updates which have synced to the IPad2 but when you go into the Available Updates screen they all have the OPEN button across from the App description and Update All in the upper left hand corner of the screen is grayed out.
This was not an issue in 8.0
Anyone else seeing this and/or have a fix?

IOs8 slowed and glitched many Apple devices from newer iPhones to the ipad2. My iPad suffered connectivity issues, and odd mail and airplane mode problems. The 8.0.2 patch was just released, and I made the error of installing it. USE CAUTION if you do this. My iPad2 crashed while installing the patch for the troublesome ios8 and is now frozen in recovery mode. I do not have an Apple computer to synch it to, thus negating the restore mode / iTunes option. It won't accept a hard reset. I have a cloud backup but without a USB / lightning cord and a computer synched to my ipad2 I cannot solve this. Apple support is closed, and in any case will charge a fee to simply open a service *conversation* with no guarantee it will solve the issue. I am sadly disappointed in Apple for this rollout, especially in light of their recent problems regarding security and neglecting known issues.

Have you tried a soft-reset : Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should reappear and it will hopefully reboot.

Screen refresh problem where data is entered and the screen doesn't refresh
Many people in the company are experiencing the odd screen refresh problem where data is entered and the screen doesn't refresh to show the updated result in corresponding cell formulas.
Microsoft have issued a hotfix to fix the issue for Excel 2003 as shown. Microsoft released a hotfix for this problem (<a href="advisory?ID=978908">KB978908</a>). Display memory tends to pick up data from hidden sheets and pastes it

Based on your description, Excel does not show the text strings when you typing. It may be caused by the cell format, if we set the cell format as ";;;" in custom format, it will not display the text that you typed.
And the issue may be caused by the third-party input method, there are some compatibility issue between them.
If the issue still exits, please try the following methods

Repair your Office program

Occasionally my screen doesn't refresh properly...
I have a main menu screen that is list of open sales orders and a list of actions (scripts) that can be performed on the selected order.
One of the actions takes a billing block off of the sales order and SHOULD remove it from the list.
Very occasionally it does take the block off but leaves the entry on the screen (but you can't make it active) as in the case below...
The script refreshes the screen and then puts the successful update message to it but the unblocked message remains on the open order list. The program that this flavour belongs to is a customer program and screens orders that do not have a block set.
Can anyone suggest how this could happen. Is it some sort of caching issue or a timing issue between the custom program and the time it takes to physically take the block off the sales doc (VA02)?
Here's the tail end of the script ...The list content is driven by the backend transaction' logic, i.e. the Personas Refresh Screen action isn't going to actually refresh the list screen. So in this case, there should be a backend command refreshing the list explicitly in order to remove the items that have already been processed.

iOS never forces you to update. It is always a choice. You can ignore the updates and keep using the older system. I did precisely that for a little while on my phone, while I was trying out iOS 7 on my iPad. So unless some person (IT for your employer on a company phone, for example) was making you update, you weren't forced.

There's nothing inherent in iOS 7 that will cause you to get ads in Safari or other apps that you never did before. A different browser might handle pop-ups differently, and may be more effective in some cases than Safari's pop-up blocker. However, if you're getting a lot of pop-up ads from a particular site, that's a site you probably shouldn't be visiting. -
I Can't access upgrades that the app stores keeps notifying me about. The update screen is just blank.
Folks can wait it out or I understand if you go to purchased and your list of apps you will see a little update banner on the ones that need to be updated. YOu can then download them manually.

I have an ipad2 that has ios4.3.5 that I'm trying to update to iOS 6. I'm not able to update because of unidentifiable apps. I'm assuming that these are apps I tried to get but couldn't open because I needed iOS 5 or higher. These apps are still in my app store always needing updates, but I can't open or update because I don't have iOS 5. I can't delete them either because they can't be opened or aren't on my screen to hold/let wiggle/X. I need to remove these apps, but can't figure out how. Please someone tell me how
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you are updating using wifi, locate your iPad close to your router so you don't get a wifi dropout (can cause update corruption).

Try rebooting your ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
Go to settings/itunes and app stores, tap on apple id and sign out. Reboot the ipad and the sign back in the same way. -
Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black. Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in so I cannot restore or anything. Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously. Has anyone had this problem? I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.
Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem! -
