IPad2, iOS5, sync stuck at step 6of6 or 7of7

Hi everybody.
After updating to iOS 5 my iPad2 won't end synchronisation at step 6of6 or 7of7 (copying Genius Data or Applications).
Even after waiting the whole night it won't stop while my iphone4 synchs without any problems.
This happens while syncing with cable or over WiFi.
I found some internet users having the same problem, but no solution yet.
Any ideas? Thankyou...

iPhone sync stuck at Step 5 of 5 waiting for the changes to be applied

For me it was stuck. So with the iphone/pad etc plugged in I was having the failings at the last step.
I got it to work by unticking "Sync this ****** over wifi" and onnly ticking"manually manage music and videos"
Maybe it gets confussed and I thought I was managing it anyway.
Anyway - that worked for me, literally did the ticks. Off it goes, now adding 1500+ tunes

    Reset your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

You don't need to manually sync using iOS 5.

  • Sync stuck on (Step 1 of 5)

I am trying to sync my Ipad and it is stuck on (Step 1 of 5) for a long time.  Not moving.  Any ideas?  It has been working just fine.
I have tried several times and get same thing.  Been stuck over 1 hr.

What is syncing when this happens? If its photos, you may want to uncheck the Include videos option from the photos tab in iTunes.
Otheres were complaining about similar issues with videos from the photos tab here -> iTunes freezes (but doesn't crash) while iPhone is connected
Some are working around the problem by importing the videos into iTunes and then syncing them from the Movies tab.

  • Iphone sync stuck on step 1

I have an iPhone 4 with software version 4.3.5 and iTunes Vesrion 10.5. Im aslo running Windows 7
When I updates iTunes to this version my phone would no longer sync. It just gets stuck at step 1 or 5 and never moves from there.
Any help would be most appreciated
    Thanks

Finally - after much stress and many attempts I finally got it to work by using a combination of the following things together:
    1.     Unplugging my computer from the network
    2.     Changing the USB port the iPhone was plugged into
    3.     Disabling windows firewall and antivirus/sypware
    4.     Following these instructions:
    - Quit iTunes.
    - Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click "Command Prompt" -> "Run as Administrator")
    - Once in the command prompt, type "netsh winsock reset" and hit ENTER.
    - Reboot your machine
    - Restart iTunes.
Thanks for everyone for their help

  • Sync stuck at step 1

I have to swap out my 3GS because it keeps getting stuck on vibrate. I went to sync it first, and for some reason step 1 of the sync just kept going and going. Any advice? I finally stopped the sync because I had to leave.

Since you had to force end process whilst backing up, I would think your backup folder and files might be corrupted.
Go to this location to delete your backup folder (folder name contains 40alpha numerics e.g.
    7c67e6a6537b50de27c08fdc8c68d8dc302e04ff)
    Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Do a netsh winsock reset again. After restarting windows, sync again.  Bear in mind it's a new backup so the backup process may take a longer time.  So be patient and let it run for hours and see it will work this time.

  • IPhone 6/iTunes sync stuck on step 4: Waiting for changes to be applied

I just got my iPhone 6 two days ago, and everything was working beautifully, until yesterday. I noticed when I tried to sync my phone to iTunes to put more music on, the sync gets stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied" which is step 4 of 4. I'm thinking this is a iTunes problem? I tried restarting my phone, and iTunes, and then eventually my computer, and still no change on this step. It's been at least ten minutes now and it's still doing this....help please.

I've been having the same problem. It would either get stuck at "Waiting for changes to be applied" or "Waiting for items to copy". My last successful sync was on 10/15. Tried a number of times either via wifi or direct connect.
Solved it in the following fashion:
Connected the phone to the computer via Lightning cable.
My phone was set to back-up to iCloud. Changed that setting to back up to the computer.
Unchecked the "Sync Music" option under the music tab.
    Hit apply.
After a wait - the back-up completed and all the music was removed from my phone.
Once it was done, re-checked "Sync Music" - it got past "Waiting for Changes to be Applied" at this point.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • IPhone sync using iTunes gets stuck on step 3 of 7 syncing calendars

I am getting stuck on step 3 of 7 when syncing my iPhone 4 using iTunes. I have had this happen before with iOS5 but it seemed to sort itself out after I deleted the backup from iTunes 10 > Preferences > Devices > iPhone backup and synced again a couple of times. I recently installed iOS6 and the sync problem has come up again. Apps and contacts seem to backup fine. I have tried deleting the backup and a reset (by holding the sleep & home buttons down) but I still don't seem to be able to get past step 3 of 7 sycning calendars. I noticed that a few users seem to have this problem from time to time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had it hanging on Calendar sync as well ...
    This worked for me:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
I also had crazy dupes of calendar items previously except on my iphone, so the idea was to get the singular calendar of events synced back to my computer. So ...
I made sure Calendar was empty on my computer: ~/Library/Calendars/
    Cleared out. Emptied Trash.
Then per above link, cleared sync services from terminal:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
Plugged in iPhone, set my prefs again, sync'ed. Went thru the sync quickly and got everything back to normal with only single events.
The key here (on dupes) is to have at least ONE version of your calendar in good shape. And that may be thru your iphone backups.
(sorry I know I switched thread topics, but sync and dupes seem to go hand in hand)
    Hope this helps.

  • When syncing to my PC iTunes gets stuck at step 7 of 7 with "waiting for items to copy" - do you know why?

when syncing ipad2 to my PC iTunes gets stuck at step 7 of 7 with "waiting for items to copy" - does anyone you know why?  The rest of the sync seems okay

i don't know why it happens. but i know how frustrating it can be. the same thing happened to me. i posted a few inquiries in different apple forums and didn't get any ideas of how to fix it. i did however find a solution on my own.
i found that if i did a "restore my ipad" that it fixed it. i was hesitant at first because i was afraid of loosing valuable information. but much to my relief i didn't loose any thing. other than an hour of my time.
this seemed to fixed my problem of being stuck on "waiting for items to copy". my ipad now syncs both wired and wirelessly without any hang ups. however i would suggest that if you are syncing a large amount of data (movies for example) that you do it wired and not wirelessly. i found that it takes a lot longer to sync movies wirelessly.
    good luck
