IPad2 issue

I cannot slide to unlock my iPad.  It will change from portrait to landscape; however, I cannot unlock it. Any suggestions?

Failing the above, you might want to try putting your device into recovery mode.

  • IPad2 Issues after iOS 8.1 update

iPad2 64g wifi + cellular -   very slow and non-responsive since iOS 8.1 update.  nonstandard Apps seem to be working fine.. it’s the standard item like photos and safari that don't  respond.
photos -  (which I use daily to show clients examples)  will freeze and kick me out back to the home page when trying to do anything from open a photo for viewing to trying to delete a photo. Edit.. forget it.   better off using an alternate app to edit a photo as it locks up and crashes every time.   I really need to be able to view the photos  on my iPad2
safari -   good luck using any hyper link…. It doesn’t respond.   Even at Apple’s website.   Sometimes it crashes but most of the time it just ignores me like I haven’t touched the screen
Overall - the touch screen is glitchy since the iOS 8.1 update.  It was slow after the iOS 8.0 update  but has become almost unusable after the 8.1 update.
I cannot afford to purchase a new iPad.  And I really need to find a way to make this one work.
I did read about how to restore to an older iOS version.   The only problems are all of my laptop is Windows based and the instructions assumed you had a Mac.   I did a backup to iTunes prior to the 8.0 update but I have also done backups since.   So I am not sure I have a “clean” iOS 7 backup.
Any ideas would be appreciated   Thank you in advance for your help

For the touch issues in Safari, does scrolling or zooming the page before you try to tap a link make it work again?  I've read a few posts that this may be a workaround for that issue.

  • Ipad2 issue downloading apps. Help ?

    HI
My ability to download apps has stopped. Clicking on the grey FREE box (for example) does not lead to anything - the install or blue progress bar does not appear and nothing happens. There is no storage or capacity issues. This used to be all fine - can anyone help ?

Is something else downloading?  If so, click it to get it to a "paused" state.
If not, try resetting your iPad.  Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

  • TS3103 IPAD2 Issues with Gmail & Yahoo mail.

I have an IPAD2. Just synced and downloaded new software OS. Can't get gmail or yahoo to work properly. Gmail won't read at all. Yahoo has almost all msgs go to trash. Any suggestions?

Try using the IP address for the unit your want to block access.

  • Ipad2 issue when opening a new window

I have ipad 2, when new small windows are opened they are opened in the corner of my ipad where i can't see what's written on it, for example if i want to share a document on pages via email,  new window is opened in the corner, a blank one that can't be zoomed or even closed ,,,, this happens in more than one place not in pages only

Try shutting down all of your program by double clicking on the home button, after the multi-task windows opens hold you finger on the first app until it's starts to wiggle and a red minus sign shows up in the left corner, tap the red minus sign until all your apps are closed.  Then restart your iPad 2 by holding down the on/off and the home buttons until you see the Apple logo.

  • IPad2 issues with app updates

My ipad is indicating that I have updates, but when I go to the App Store, and click on updates at the bottom of the page, nothing happens anymore. The actual apps that need updating do not show,up on the screen. This just started. How can I fix this?

There are dozens of threads on this topic. you can either wait it out or some have reported success going to the purchased tab, scrolling through your apps and updating them manually. The ones that have updates should say so.

You've wandered into the forum for AppleWorks, Apple's defunct office suite. The best place to ask your question would be in the iPad forum.

  • Attempting to download IOS 5 for ipad2 do not see actual initiate download point

See apple iOS 5 download on the support tab but no actual initiation button to Dow oaf. Connected ipad2 to laptop and accesses via ipad2 iTunes as well as from URL apple ios5 Dow OAS

Thank you. Once I realized that I needed to update to latest iTunes, I was able to download ioS 5. Update worked fine and did not loose any settings or data. Unfortunately, the update did not solve the issue that prompted me to update in the first place. I will create a new thread to ask about my ipad2 issue. My ipd2 shuts down completely on its own. Apple support showed me how to restart by holding down the power button and face side button for 30 seconds. This usually works on my iPhone but was only temporary on my ipad2. Bought a $30 new power plug and no difference. Able to fully charge but shuts down on its own after a minute or so of inactivity. Puzzling.

  • I have purchased an app but when trying to play it says I need an iPad 2 or above (I have a first iPad). Can I get my money back?

Hi, I have just purchased Machinarium. I only have the first IPad. Didn't realise I needed an IPad 2 as a minimum. Can I get the. £2.99 I paid back? (to put towards buying an IPad 2!). Thanking you in advance.

I just found something at the app developer's website ...
"1. If you bought the iPad2 version of Machinarium and you have only iPad1, please contact Apple App Store support for refund or wait until you update your iPad to iPad2 or iPad3."
    From here >  http://amanita-design.net/blog/2011/09/10/machinarium-for-ipad2-issues/
Check out the posts at that link. Some users can't get the app to work on the iPad 2
The developer is obviously not aware of Apple's, "all sales are final" policy.

  • Why won't my iPad 2 connect to my 802.11g network?

    Hello everyone,
Today I received an iPad 2 as a gift.  It is the first Apple product I have ever owned.  I spent about 3 hours this morning trying to get it to turn on -- it kept displaying an image of a USB cord so I connected it to my computer.  Still the iPad would not display its desktop.  Finally, I learned that the iPad had to be connected to a PC running Windows (instead of the Centos 5 Linux system that I use).  Additionally iTunes had to be installed.  I find it extremely bizaare to require the device to connect to a computer before being able to turn it on.
Now after getting the device to boot, I am attempting to connect to my home wireless network.  Thus far it appears this is going to be Strike Two for me and the iPad 2.  My wifi network is 802.11g using WPA2-AES and 128 bit key.  The iPad 2 recognizes the presence of my network (the SSID appears in the listing when it prompts me to connect), however, when I supply the 128bit key to connect, the iPad 2 reports that it is unable to connect.
I went into the Network configuration in the General Settings and attempted to add the network manually (ensuring I could specify WPA2 as the encryption type).  Same failure.
Any hints on getting this thing to connect to my network?  I've already watered the security down to 128bit encryption (from 256bit).  All the other devices in my home are able to connect without issue.  The iPad 2 detects a strong signal from the router.
    Thanks,
    Josh

I appreciate everyone that responded with the intent of helping me solve the issue.  This forum is weird -- there are many users that try to help with iPad2 issues and then there are many that mock me and say I should just return it for expecting this very expensive device to just work.
After a late night of debugging with Wireshark, I finally tracked down the problem (Apple, feel free to send me a cheque for my services)
I will post the solution here for those who desire to use an 802.11x security protocol that has not yet been compromised (WPA2-AES).
When you attempt to join a wireless network, the iPad asks for the password.  If this password contains any characters other than 0-9, A-F (hexadecimal), WPA states that Password Based Key Derivation Function 2 (RSA Security, PKCS #5) must be used to calculate the pre-shared key.  If however, the password contains only hexadecimal characters, then that value *is* the key to be used (e.g. do not run the PBKDF2 function)
I specify my network keys in hex both in my router and my devices.  This means the devices nor the router need to invoke PBKDF2.
The key I specified in my router was entered using upper case hexadecimal letters (e.g. A, B, C, D, E, F) whereas the key I entered on the iPad 2 was entered using lower case hexadecimal letters (e.g. a, b, c, d, e, f).  Since I am specifying a key, the uppercase and lower case hexadecimal values have the same binary represention -- meaning they are identical.  The iPad, however, does not treat them as identical and therefore attemps to connect using an invalid pre-shared key (my guess is it is running PBKDF2 when it shouldn't be -- but I don't care enough to troubleshoot it any further)
In summary, this issue will only affect those of us that specify our pre-shared keys explicitly (via hexadecimal) in the router.  As a workaround, make sure you enter the hexadecimal key using only lower case letters (a-f) when you set the key in the router and use lower case letters (default) when entering the key on the iPad 2.
After doing so, iPad 2 can connect as can the other 20 devices I own that followed the WPA specification in the first place.

  • After updating to 6.0, ITunes account linked wrong

My husband has an Ipad2 issued from his employer.  I have one for personal use.  Each have an Itunes account.  We both updated today to 6.0.  I then went to update my apps and they are now connected with my husbands itune account instead of mine.  Any idea how to fix?

Did you update your iPads using iTunes?
You can go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and tap the ID that is showing in there - sign out and then sign in with the correct account

  • How do I fix the below sync issue between iPhoto, iTunes, my iPad2/iPhones

I am having this issue with iPhoto'11. I had the issue at one point in iPhoto '09 but eventually I fixed it but I don't know how. I was told it's a problem with my iPhoto library.
Here's the problem: When syncing with either my iPad2/iPhone4/iPhone3GS it tells me not all photos were were synced to my devices because there is not enough space, even though there clearly is enough space. I don't think it happens with my AppleTV2 but maybe that's because it's streaming, not syncing, to my ATV2.
Any thoughts on how to fix? I'm also seeing that only the places and albums icons are included within the photo app on each device. Do I need to somehow repair my iPhoto library?

Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1 and #6.

  • Is there a fix for the iPad2/iOS7 WiFi dropping issue yet?

After searching through Many threads regarding iPad2 Wi-Fi issues, I have found a lot of different "solutions" and I've tried them ALL but my Wi-Fi is STILL dropping out on me all the time. My iPad is running iOS version 7.1.2. I am constantly getting errors like
"We were unable to connect to the servers. Please try again later."
    or
    "Internet Connection Lost",
or i try to download an app and it just spins for a minute then acts as though nothing happened and the app never installs. I literally can't use any of my apps and the only way to reliably download them onto my iPad is to push it over from itunes with the ipad plugged in via usb after downloading it on my computer.
    I have tried:
1-Checking connection settings (airplane mode Off, wifi connected to correct secure home network, bluetooth Off, mobile data Off)
    2-rebooting ipad
3-making sure there's nothing running in the background by double-tapping the home button
4-removing an apostrophe from the ipad name.
5-putting the ipad into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
6-going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turning ipad off and on again.
    7-updating router firmware
8-doing a factory reset, then repeating steps 1 through 6
Any other ideas?? I really need to make this work! Any help will greatly appreciated.

8-doing a factory reset, then repeating steps 1 through 6
Do you mean a restore to factory settings?. If so did you set up as new or restore from back up afterwards?
