Ipad2 not finding networks

I just bought a brand new ipad2, and so far I cannot connect to any networks.  Well not only not connect - it won't even show me a list of networks. In fact the wifi 'on' icon refuses to stay 'on' - and keeps switching to 'off'. I have tried this at home, at an airport and at work all with the same results.  My household already has 2 itouches and an ipad1 so I've seen how it should work.  Any ideas anyone?  Otherwise I will wait until this weekend to take it to an apple store.
Thanks

  • IPad2 not finding Library but iPod Touch Does

    Hi Guys
Like many on the various Apple Help Forums I an still having problems getting the Remote App to work on my iPad2.
I have found that I can enter the 4 digit code but I can only do this if I connect myWindows7 based PC to the router by a wireless dongle, if I connect by a cable connection I do not get my iPad show up in the devices section of iTunes and do not get the option to add the 4 digit code.
So with the PC on the wireless network I add the 4 digit code the remote app then starts looking for my Library and then displays "Could not find"
I also have access to an iPod Touch and if I do the same the remote app will find my Library and I am able to control it.
I have checked all the settings on both the iPad2 and the Ipod Touch and every thing is set the same.
I have tried it with the PC's Firewall turned on and off and that makes no difference.
Why ho why will my iPad not find the Library when the iPod will.
One othe thing I have noticed is the option to search for remotes in iTunes is no longer there in the prefrences but it does show that I am paired with 2 remotes.
Anyone got any other thoughts on why I am having this connection issue.
    Thanks
    Paul

All problems with the remote app are now resolved and its working fine on both my iPod Touch and my iPad2.
    And the problem was !!!!!!
My Router, I was using the one supplied by my telecoms provider (TalkTalk) as soon as I replaced it with a Linksys one everything worked first time.
And there was me blaming Apple.

  • Airport Extrem not finding networks

I have an Ibook G4 with an airport extrem card. For about 6 months I used it with several public wirless networks , at university and cafes around town. One fine day, after not using it for about a month, it simply stopped finding networks. I turn it on via the menu at the top of the screen, but it simply does not find any network , not even ones that it used to connect to.
I made no changes in the configuration before it stopped working.
The Apple troubleshooting suggests that if you don't see a wireless network, try clicking Scan Again. I do not have this option, networks just appear in the menu once they are located.
In all these places ,the wirless if working for other people, siting next to me, so it is not a problem with the networks themselves.
Any ideas? should i take of the keyboard and check that the antena is located correctly?

ok , ill try it. Thanks.
Do you think I should also uninstall the software , or just start with removing the card and putting it back in place?
Or is there any thing else that needs doing?

  • After Sleep, Moutain Lion will not find Network Drives

    Hi all,
I've upgraded to Mountain Lion on my Late 2011 MacBook Pro 13 and all was well until I've noticed that after sleeping my MacBook will not find any network drives. I only noticed this since TimeMachine came up with an error that it cannot backup due to not being able to find the device on the network, my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 was powered on and TimeMachine backed up to it less than an hour before?
I've tried an Alt Rt Click on Finder to Relaunch Finder but still my MacBook will not find any network drives until I reboot, or switch off WiFi and then turn it back on?
Has anybody else come across this since the upgrade to Moutain Lion?
My MacBook Pro is fully up to date and TimeMachine works well if the MacBook doesn't sleep?
    Many thanks in advance, Jon.

Surely it's not just me that is experiencing these issues? The latest update mentioned some networked drives but still i'm experiencing the same issues after sleep. If I reboot fine, but not after sleep?
    Can anybody help??
    Jon.

  • TS3274 my ipad is not finding networks

my ipad 1 is not finding wifi networks . what can i try to fix it?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • HELP!!! - Internet up, but EasyLink Advisor can not find network

    All,
This is my first experience using a wireless router and although I sent everything up according to directions and the network has worked for at least 3 weeks now (both my computer and PS3 seem to work without issue), all of a sudden when I click on the 'EasyLink Advisor' it will not display my network at all (as if I never went through the steps to set the router up in the first place).
I have the WRT54G model and am running Windows XP, Service Pack 2. Again, when I click on the Easylink Advisor icon, the window comes up but everything is greyed out (My Network, Actions, and Support). The first window I get is the 'Network Setup Wizard' to guide me through the steps to setup my router (which is already set up and working).
If anyone has any idea on what I can do in order for the information on my network to reappear it would be greatly appreciated. I'd really rather not have to go through the entire setup process again and chance messing things up on both computer and PS3 if possible (and I really don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall again).
Thank you all in advance for your help - I really appreciate it!

I just installed a new WRT5G after 4-5 years of excellent service from my old one (the old one fritzed out-couldn't even reset factory settings).  I like the idea of Easy Advisor, especially the way it detected the the machines connected to my network and listed all my router settings in one place.  However, I believe that it interferes with the proper operation of the router and/or internet connection and I do not allow it to start automatically anymore.
I experienced two or three occasions where I activated ELA from the System Tray and my internet connection got blown out of the water altogether.  The more damning evidence comes from an online program that I run from a remote computer that since the new router had become severely laggy to an extent I had never seen with the old router. The program monitors network status to several different servers, and during this laggy event it rated the connections with each service as Fair or Poor.  Having suspected issues with ELA, I ended the program, and my network status immediately went to Very Good (the best rating possible) / 100%.
What convinced me that this was no coincidence is that the next day I had extremely poor performance again, and I went down to the computer connected to the router and found that ELA had restarted when my daughter had logged on.  As soon as I ended the program again, my online program returned to 100% connectivity.
I had to log on to each of my users accounts and run msconfig in order to uncheck ELA from starting up automatically even though I had disabled it from the Computer Administrator account.  That was quite a pain and I would have had no qualms about uninstalling it altogether if I'd had any further trouble with it.
Like I said, ELA is great in concept, but the fact that the program has trouble finding the router when everything is connected and configured properly is pretty troublesome.  Bottom line, though, is that you don't need ELA to configure your router.  It's not that hard to do and you can get plenty of guidance from the internet and I would imagine this board.  It's the same way you had to do it before ELA anyway.

  • IBook G3 airport card not finding networks

i have an iBook G3 that i have just put an airport card in, after installing the airport card it shows the card is installed but no networks have been found. i did some research online and it said to check the antena, make sure the card is inserted all the way, and to try and reset the PRAM (by pressing OPT,CMD,P,R during bootup) after clearing the PRAM it showed networks but when trying to connect to the networks it says their was a problem connecting and to retry. when i go to try and connect again the airport card shows that it can't find any networks. Are there any other ideas i should try or what could be the problem?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The iBook G3's original AirPort Card is not capable of handling encryption beyond WPA. It will not work with WPA2-encrypted networks.
Also, it needs a network that supports the 802.11b standard used by the original AirPort Card. If you are using a router, it needs to be set to mixed mode (b/g or b/g/n) in order for the original AirPort Card to access the network.

  • Can not find network when trying to face time

i can no longer use face time. I am able to use safari and send e mails but when I try to use face time a error message comes up and says network connection?

    Hi there Mike,
If I understand correctly you are getting an error about your network connection when you try to use FaceTime on your iPad. I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you resolve this network issue. This section in particular.
If you have difficulty activating FaceTime or iMessage
If you see "Could not sign in, please check your network connection and try again" when signing in to your Apple ID
To resolve this issue, follow these steps.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you have a data connection by going towww.apple.comin Safari. You can complete Apple ID activation using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. If you need help connecting to Wi-Fi, followthese steps.
If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure that your local Wi-Fi network is using the recommended Wi-Fi settings.
Sign in to your accountand ensure that the primary email address and alternate e-mail addresses have been verified. If verification is pending, follow the instructions in the email Apple sent to that email address to complete verification. Or remove the e-mail addresses from the account.
If your Apple ID isn't an email address, you can change it. The Apple ID that you're using to activate FaceTime or iMessage must be an email address. Find more information onhow to change your Apple ID.
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time. Make sure that your iPhone is set to thecorrect time zone. If Set Automatically is on but the wrong time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to a different Wi-Fi network (in a different location) if a cellular data connection is not available.
You can see that you've activated FaceTime and iMessage with your Apple ID by following these steps.
Tap Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:
Tap Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Software issue, not finding network

My powerbook g4 (10.4) cannot find the wireless network in my home, however my pda finds the network fine. I booted the powerbook off of an external hard drive running 10.3 and it finds the network fine. Any ideas for what to do about this? Any help would be appreciated.

While booted from 10.4, check to see that the OS is recognizing the AirPort Extreme card in your PowerBook by using the System Profiler utility. If it shows up there, then try the following:
    Move SystemConfiguration folder
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    - Go to /Library/Preferences
    - Move the SystemConfiguration folder and com.apple.networkConfig.plist file to the desktop.
    - Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder & .plist file back to it's original location.)

  • IPad 1st Generation not finding networks or connecting to bluetooth.

So, I haven't used my iPad all day and I came home to connect to my wireless speaker via bluetooth and it said it couldn't pair; I thought this was strange because I never have issues with connecting to bluetooth, even if I do it can always be fixed by toggling the speaker's power switch as well as the bluetooth switch. I then checked the upper left hand corner to see if my wireless was working, that too was inactive. I went to my settings to select my usual network only to have my iPad search and come up with absolutely no nearby networks, I went to my Mac and the internet was working just fine. So my iPad will not work with my network or work with my bluetooth. I have already taken many troubleshooting steps. 1. I reset my network settings, 2. I adjust the brightness, 3. I rebooted the iPad, 4. I finally restored the iPad. After all this, my iPad still will not connect. Yet every other wireless capable device in the house is working just fine. After I restored the iPad I made sure not to restore from a backup so it's completely fresh. Has anyone experienced any of this, and will I need to call Support, as this may be a hardware issue, Even though I JUST had this iPad replaced not too long ago.

Yes, that was one of the common sense steps that I left out.... mainly because, well, it's common sense. I don't mean to come off as rude or anything, but the router effecting only my iPad when there are two iPad's in the house that run the same firmware as well as other devices that are working fine seems like an unlikely answer to my problem. However, I do appreciate the input. Any is appreciated, helpful or not.

  • Airprt not finding networks

i have a macbrook less than a year old.  the AirPort is not locating my network or other networkks in the neighborhood.  When it does, I get a network with Safari even though its connected. Any ideas?

    Your question is confusing.
When you turn on/enable airport on your MacBook, and select the airport icon, it will display the names (SSIDs) of any network that it detects in range that is broadcasting the network name (SSID).
you will then have to select one of these networks and provide the proper security password to connect. The network would also have to be using a router that is providing IP addresses via DHCP and also setup to allow new clients (computers, etc) to join it inorder for you to complete the connection.  Most networks have some security in place that allows only authorized users to join.

  • How can i set my ipod up without internet connection? Every-time I put my network in it say "Could not find network".

My I-pod wont connect with the network, so I reset my I-pod to see if that was the problem
and now I cant set my I-pod up because my I-pod cant find the network. I cant download I-tunes
on my laptop because I have to have a password that I don't know.

    Try either:
    - On a computer that has iTunes and an internet connection
    - Go to a different location and try connecting to another wifi network
