IPad2 reboots every few minutes

My iPad2 recently began to reboot every few minutes of use.  It has been reformatted, all added apps removed and the battery allowed to completely deplete then recharge, all to no avail.  Any suggestions?

If you are near an Apple Store, a trip to the Genius Bar.  If you are still under warranty they can replace it.  If you are out of warranty, they may still be able to replace it for a fee but it will still be less than full retail cost.

HI,  I have this router and was working great......  THEN I get this great idea,  oh yeh, check to see if there is a firmware upgrade and there is.  Well I updated it with the newest and only one out there.   I did the upgrade, said sucessful and now it will just random reboot or something........ every few minutes the power light starts flashing....... then all the light go out, then power flashes again and it comes back up.   I have tried many times to reflash it with that new firmware but no avail.  I wish I had the old firmware back because it was working fine till I did this upgrade.   Anyone or Cisco persons have a solution for me,  can I get a copy of the original firmware or what is going on.    I am about ready to switch brands.... I've been a loyal Linksys/Cisco guy for long time but this and couple other routers I worked on are getting me to wonder.  Please help.......... thanks.

Yeh I have done a hard reset numerous times....  I have re-flashed it 3 times.   I just did flashed it again, and did a hard reset and setup my router settings the way I want it.  I will see what happens overnight and repost my solutions.  My guess is it will start acting up again...... I've tried everything.    Does anyone know where I can get the original flash file for the WRT400n,  it was working fine till I tried to update with the latest one.....  should have left it alone.  If I can't fix it....... I am switching brands.

  • While charging my new 9320 it keeps rebooting every few minutes

I upgraded to a BB Curve 9320.  Today it is charging for the first time, but while charging it keeps rebooting, not continually but every few minutes.  I already connected it to my computer which has Windows 7, to the Blackberry software and synced it with Contacts etc, but it is still rebooting.  Anyone know what's wrong?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
So, it only does this while charging, and only while charging on the wall charger? What about just charging to the PC? Or to a car charger? What about different wall/car chargers than those you already have?
In any event it is possible that your battery may be defective...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • How to stop my ipad shutting down and rebooting every few minutes

My iPad G1 consistently closes down every few minutes and reboots even if just sitting idle on Home Page. How can I stop it PLEASE??????

Try Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  If that doesn't help, you may well have a hardware problem.  Sorry.

  • OS4 upgrade = error 29 then reboot every few min. on use

Tried to upgrade my iphone to os4 last night and got an error 29 message and was then stuck in an endless reconnect to itunes loop. Restore only resulted in further error 29 messages. Finally after a good bit of searching on potential solutions I used irecovery to escape the loop. Now os4 is on my iphone (and looks great!) but it reboots every few minutes (2-3) when being used. It does not reboot if off. I tried restoring again after discovering the reboot problem but that got me back to square one and error 29 messages again.
Noticed some others with similar issues but didn't see a thread with this exact problem posted.
Perhaps it's worth noting that I replaced my iphone battery myself a few months ago but had no issues at all until now. Not a jailbroken iphone. Just trying to get it to work.

Ok. From reading through the forums some more it definitely seems to be related to the battery. Perhaps for some it's because they have a semi-bad original/OEM battery. For me I'm guessing it's because I installed a non-OEM battery when my original started to fail. I bought a higher capacity replacement than OEM off the internet thinking it would give me better battery life. It worked perfectly fine until upgrading iOS4. In addition to previous problems posted my battery is either not charging at all now or charging very slowly. It reboots even as I'm trying to recharge. I've turned it off while trying to recharge it now in the hopes that this will make it charge properly. I've also ordered an OEM battery now in the hopes this will fix the problem. Wish I hadn't discarded the original. Odd that an OS upgrade would cause this problem. The tinfoil hat part of me wonders if Apple did this on purpose to discourage DIY fixes. If so, that's really uncool of you, Apple. If I break my phone fixing it myself then let me break it. Please don't break it for me.
Once I get an OEM battery and install it I will update on whether that worked for me or not.
Here's a post from another thread concerning error 29:
    Hi all,
I am so happy! I can confirm the error 29 has been resolved and it is to do with the battery gauge. I ordered a higher capacity battery from Ebay, that messed around with the readout in 3.1.3. I was on the verge on making a claim for a replacement iphone until just now. Also as a word of warning, Non apple OEM battery will cause the phone to crash. Maybe the phone is sensitive to calculating the gas gauge so when it can't work out the exact charge it'll force the phone to reboot every 5 minute interval, this is apples ploy to dig out illegal modifications? This is very interesting, Phone fully functional now after installing OEM battery. I will now install the bigger capacity battery to see if it is compatible with it. I'm guessing not.

  • My iPad2 is frozen at slide to unlock and every few minutes te apple appears on the middle for a while and then back on freeze to the slide to unlock screen. Please I need your help please

My iPad2 is frozen at slide to unlock screen, every few minutes the apple appears in the middle of the screen and couple of minutes later it will go back on freeze to the slide to unlock screen .  I have tried all tricks even the restoration through iTunes which I was never able to complete because of the apple screen; iTunes thinks I am resetting my iPad and the restoration get aborted.
Please help, I can't even turn it off.

    Force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times.

  • Yesterday while downloading an app on my 3GS, my iPhone froze, and I switched it off to reboot. Following that, every few minutes, the screen will flicker and the phone will restart. What's wrong? And how should I fix it?

I recieved my iPhone 3GS around Christmas. It has been working great, until yesterday. I was downloading an app and suddenly my messaging froze. I couldn't view incoming messages, and every chat I clicked on displayed the same frozen dialogue with only the contact names different. (The app was supposedly reliable, I read over the reviews.) I rebooted my phone in hopes of fixing this, and everything seemed fine for a couple of minutes. Then the screen slightly flickered, and my phone restarted itself. Now, after turning on again, it continues to flicker and crash every few minutes, whether I'm using it or not. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

    Restore the Firmware with iTunes.
If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take to Apple for resolution.
If no coverage, the next step would be battery replacement.

  • Since installing IOS7.0.2 my iPad keeps rebooting itself every few minutes.  I can't do anything with it and cannot download the new IOS7.2 because it doesn't run long enough to accomplish the download.  What can I do?

Since installing IOS7.0.2 my iPad keeps rebooting itself every few minutes.  I can't do anything with it and cannot download the new IOS7.2 because it doesn't run long enough to accomplish the download.  What can I do?

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Disconnect/Reconnect every few minutes

I just had Fios installed 4 days ago.  I've got a M1424WR wireless router.  Firmware up-to-date, 2 computers one wired one wireless. and every few minutes I'm disconnected from the system and reconnected.  Almost every web site has to be reloaded 2-3 times until there is a response.  The Verizon Tech phone support didn't see anything wrong with the service or router.  As a matter of fact, 6 lights are lit on the router and when this happens they generally don't go yellow or go out.  It just looks like the connection to the router is fine.  I've rebooted the router, even rebooted the back up power.  I have a feeling that there is just a setting somewhere that needs to be changed.... anyone have any ideas?  For reference, it's a lenovo laptop, IBM build.  I'm desperate to get this resolved as it's impacting my work.

Well, you have two computers. one wired and one wireless.
Do both of them drop connections or just one of them? If both, do they drop at the same time?
If it is just one of them, then I'd look at the connection itself or the computer. If it is both, then I'd look at the router or verizon network.
Assuming it is both. You've already rebooted the router, did you try resetting the router also? Also try reseating the wan cable to the router as well. If your still having an issue at this point. I would call tech support back and ask them if they can pull up the history log on the ONT. This will hopefully tell them if the drops are happening on the inside or outside of the house.
Do you have any other fios services? Telephone or TV? Do they have any issues?

  • Iwlwifi disconnecting every few minutes

    Hi!
I've got an intel wifi card (Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (rev 34)), using iwlwifi. Every few minutes I get disconnected from the AP and when trying to reconnect it fails most of the times. Reloading iwlwifi or the networkmanager doesn't help. Is this a bug or may be something wrong with my configuration?
    Thanks!
Edit: I am using a Toshiba portege laptop

    Hi all,
I've installed Arch Linux recently on my laptop and I've been experiencing the same problem myself. I tried jumping from Gentoo forums to Arch Linux forums to you-name-it forums to find an answer to this problem but nothing worked for me.
In these forums, you will find many posts with commands that say that fix that problem (this post will be eventually one of them) but somehow fail to do so in your laptop. I don't know if there is an one-answer-fits-all, but through these searches -and some experimentation of my own- I've found a rather aggressive approach to make my wireless connections more robust. I disabled IPv6 and most of the card's hardware-intensive options.
Still, since this way probably will not work or appeal to most of you, I'd also like to provide a more coherent approach to this problem, so that you will know where to go to after reading this post (than endlessly Google searching).
    Step 0: Know your enemy
The problem I was dealing with was similar to the original poster's and happened consistently. When my signal's strength wasn't good and the network card had lots of traffic (downloading a file while watching YouTube while ...), the download speed would abruptly come to a halt. Removing and re-inserting the iwlwifi module would fix it temporarily, but later on it would relapse. Also, there was no apparent error to troubleshoot, since iwlwifi would print on dmesg only the re-connections and not any error.
The above was experienced with kernels 3.2, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7. I can't say for sure that all versions of these kernels are problematic, so you are free to check it out your self. An easy way to check if patches were issued about iwlwifi in a specific kernel version can be found from here. Just compare the dates of the file changes between different kernel versions.
Also, you might want to know that the wifi was working seamlessly with the 3.3.8 version of the kernel. Thus, if you want to check out a different linux kernel, I'd suggest you start with this one. Obviously, this is for people using Debian or other distros that rely on older kernels. So, our first question would be...
Step 1: What is your kernel?
You can find a description of your system with this command:
    uname -mor
    My output is:
    3.7.1-2-ARCH x86_64 GNU/Linux
Step 2: What is your hardware?
It is very important to know what your hardware is. If you have the same hardware as I do, then you probably have more chances to fix it. If you post a question in another forum and then mark your question as solved, people would like to know what your hardware was. If you send a bug report to the iwlwifi team, they will need your card's model.
    So, write:
    lspci | grep -i net
    My output is:
01:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 130 (rev 34)
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 06)
Step 3: What is your problem?
You can see more debug info about your problem by writing:
    dmseg
or to filter through these messages:
    dmesg | grep iwlwifi
If you see any errors, tracebacks etc. then these are bugs and you'd best search for similar bugs here. If there are no similar bugs, I'd suggest you create a new bug report. The people that answer in this list are core developers of the iwlwifi module and you'd best send them these bug reports in order to help them track down these problems.
    Step 4: Solution (?)
    GRUB
The are many ways to disable IPv6. I did it using GRUB:
    sudo cp /boot/grub/grub.cfg /boot/grub/grub.bak #For backup reasons
    sudo nano /etc/default/grub
Add this option "ipv6.disable=1" to the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=, so that your GRUB looks like this:
    GRUB_DEFAULT=0
    GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
    GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Arch"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="ipv6.disable=1"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
    Finally, do:
    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    sudo reboot
to update your grub and restart your laptop. If anything goes wrong, you can restore your grub.cfg file using the backup grub.bak we created above.
    IWLWIFI OPTIONS
Provided IPv6 is disabled, you can check in real time which of the following options make a difference, without restarting your laptop:
    sudo modprobe -r iwldvm iwlwifi
    sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 bt_coex_active=0 power_save=0 auto_agg=0 swcrypto=1
You can learn more about these options by writing:
    modinfo iwlwifi
Hopefully, you will experience no disconnections from now on.
Now, in order to automatically pass these options at startup to iwlwifi, you can create a *.conf file inside /etc/modprobe.d directory.
    nano /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
    And add this line:
    options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 bt_coex_active=0 power_save=0 auto_agg=0 swcrypto=1
    Step 5: This %@#%@ @#%#% doesn't #%@#% work
Well, bummer. I'd highly recommend to inform the developers of iwlwifi about your problem, as I've mentioned above. If the dev list intimidates you, post about this problem here.
    Good luck...
    Edit
It's likely that you may encounter the following strange behavior when trying to connect to your access point.
    Copied form my dmesg:
    [  904.190052] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: L1 Enabled; Disabling L0S
    [  904.197452] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Radio type=0x2-0x2-0x1
    [  904.886420] wlan0: authenticate with 00:26:44:b3:16:a4
    [  904.928370] wlan0: send auth to 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 (try 1/3)
    [  904.930494] wlan0: authenticated
    [  904.932220] wlan0: associate with 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 (try 1/3)
    [  904.939798] wlan0: RX AssocResp from 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 (capab=0x411 status=0 aid=2)
    [  904.942701] wlan0: associated
    [  915.641048] wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:26:44:b3:16:a4 by local choice (reason=3)
If the above is coupled with the netcfg's response:
    > DHCP IP lease attempt failed.
                                                                              [FAILED]
then you have just encountered a strange dhcpcd bug, which has nothing to do with iwlwifi.
You can find possible solutions here.

  • Safari crashes every few minutes

My safari is crashing every few minutes. Sometimes when clicking on a link or sometimes well after the page load has completed. I see no pattern as to which sites cause the problem. Most recently, it crashed when trying to type this message at discussions.apple.com. (I’m now composing offline, so I can cut and paste and finish the post before it crashes.) I checked that my software is up to date, and that my disk permissions were repaired. I have cleared out all cache info and have rebooted several times, too.

Thanks. I'm way ahead of you. Reading other discussion threads, I saw that people (maybe it was even you!) frequently suggest upgrading to the latest Flash, so once I confirmed that my crashing was eliminated (to avoid adding new variables that might affect the diagnosis of the crash), I did so, and repaired my permissions again. But I appreciate the reminder.
Regarding your observations about showing my settings, on my original post I included OS and computer model info, and I included the full "settings" information at the bottom of my crash log, so I'm not entirely sure what else I should have added. My subsequent post was from my other machine, so that's why you don't see Mac-specific computer info there.
Regardless, I appreciate your assistance. This forum is great because of the contributions of people like you. I just wanted to thank you.
By the way, what precisely was it in the crash log that points to the "fraudulent sites" problem? Or is it just the lack of any other specific smoking gun? I'm a geek (e.g., one of my first programming languages was assembler for the 8088 cpus), but new to Macs, and I don't see any clear indication in this crash log that points to any particular problem. I'd love to be able to better diagnose these sorts of problems.

  • BT Homehub 2 dropping connection every few minutes

Hi, my homehubs been working perfectly until today when it started dropping the connection every few minutes (ranging from 3 minutes up to 13). The broadband and phone lights go out then orange and then back to blue after about a minute.
Having browsed the forums etc Ive changed the location of the hub, changed channels, checked cabling and changed the microfilter.
Im now at a bit of a loss. The firmware is Version 8.1.H.J (Type A) and i notice that the firmware updated on todays date.
Im hoping someone has some ideas as im all out now.
    Thanks

I have the same problem friday afternoon at 4.30 to 11.30 at night the router reset itself every five minutes ....the prob first started in nov 2010 i have had 3 home engineer visits and finally we might be getting somwhere it looks like its caused by interferance on the line the phones fine its the broadband ,looking at the engineers meter it was running fine then all of a sudden it spikes erros 21,000 of them the router reboots and steadys again .......somthings causing line interferance it could be anything a pir on a security light ,a street lamp with a faulty timer ,there has even been a case where a car tyre garage has had its broadband removed by sombodys faulty tv .......
the engineer fitted a resistor box under the wall socket and ran the wires through it to the socket ...this is disigned to filter out certain frequencies of line pollution but not all ......it seems to be working its only shut down twice tonight and that could be the exchange mucking about as they are continuing to monitor the problem ......HOPING ....... oh he also removed the front of the wall socket and fitted me a dsl one with a separate phone socket hence doing away with the dsl filter ......................

  • Crashing every few minutes

My computer keeps crashing every few minutes after restart. Did the upgrade. Server no longer works either

You have a lot of ??? in that crash report, indicating systemwide problems.
    Start with this:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but longer in Leopard.

An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • Fresh installation of 2012r2 on PowerEdge r620 rebooting every 10 minutes

Installed 2012r2 Standard Evaluation on a Dell PowerEdge r620 today. In response to a failing 2003 DC. It's rebooting every 10 minutes or so with an lsass error.
A critical system process, C:\Windows\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000005.  The machine must now be restarted.
I'm doubly concerned as in the process I raised the forest level from 2000 to 2003 (We still have 2 2003 DCs, one of them the struggling one) I've promoted it to DC and transferred the FSMO already. I've got the weekend to get it sorted...
It's my first server install and I just did a straight bare metal install without installing Dell drivers. I'm thinking this may be my problem...
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Neil

After reading so much about the irreversibility of raising the forest level once offline DCs have been added again I was cautious about adding the previously downed DR DC. However the FSMO roles and AD replication were struggling so, after some consideration,
I brought the offending DC back online (AD has not been actively maintained for more than a couple of years...)
Initial signs were good. Replication was happening.
However, my process involved replicating across to the new server data from more than one source (The org had suffered from server spread over the past few years). In the process of consolidating the DFSR namespaces and shares, and removing legacy FSR replication
I hit problems with deleted namespaces and replication groups lingering and not being able to be deleted. I tried to follow various diagnostic and recovery methods. See this post. My main concerns continue there... :-
Bah. Can't post link. Account not verified yet. Will edit in due course. Check my profile for the DFSR related thread...
Not wishing to jinx it but the AD looks fairly stable now. Slight concern is repeated system log entries indicating :-
The DFS Namespaces service has successfully initialized the shared folder that hosts the namespace root. Shared folder: *********
Would be great to get rid of them.
