Hi samsonosagie,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your iPad has turned off and after connecting it to iTunes and updating, it will not boot past the Apple logo. I know that situations like this can be both frustrating and concerning. In this situation there are a few different troubleshooting steps I suggest you work through. Please use the attached article for these troubleshooting steps.

    Hi,
    I have an MediaSmart Server EX495 WHS and I get an Error Code. 1 aqua and 4 red : Recovery Mode Failure.  I tried Server recovery to no avail. This all started when I lost connection to the Server via Control Panel - it stopped connecting to the network totally.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance, John

    I had the same problem and am now in a worse situation. Saw your posting and hoped someone would have advised what to do. When I re-boot my EX495, the Health indicator light comes up red. Pressing the status/recovery button causes the Health light to flash 1 Blue, 4 Red:  Recovery Mode Failure. User manual says contact HP. HP says I'm out of warranty. Does anyone out there have a suggestion what I can do/try? Is it worth paying HP for tech support on the issue?

  • Problem with recovery mode and restore for disabled ipad2

    Hello, I hope you can help me.
    My ipad2 is disabled.  My only option is to enter recovery mode and then restore.
    I followed the instructions to connect to my ipad to my computer.  I saw the appropriate restore graphic on my ipad.  Yet iTunes on my computer does not recognize my ipad in recovery mode.  Instead iTunes said it could not access my device because it was disabled.  I have the lastest version of iTunes on my computer.   I believe I have iOS 7 on my ipad.
    I am unable to restore my ipad.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • Both Ipad2 and Iphone3Gs stuck in recovery mode after iOS 5 update
    Hello,
    My Ipad2 (and the Iphone 3Gs of my wife) is stuck after trying updating my devic with iOS 5.
    Error 3200 occured and then the screen only shows the usb plug to Itunes, and that's it !!
    Any idea please ?
    Regards,
    Well, after attempting every kind of tips seen on the web, I tried this one to exit recovery mode : stop then start "Apple device service" on Win7 64 bit, change the usb plug where my devices were linked.
    And, I don't know why, Itunes recognized again both Ipad2 and Iphone 3Gs, said 'hey your devices are in recovery mode !' ,and proposed to backup and update them. After long minutes waiting, both devices were upgraded with iOS 5 and then sync to put my apps on them.
    Thankfully everything now works properly, but It has been long hours of trouble and frustration...
  • How to fix ipad2 stuck in recovery mode
    How to fix ipad2 stuck in recovery mode. I tried reconnecting to itunes and it did not work.
    Thanks
    Hi aaaaherman,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    It sounds like your iPad 2 is in recovery mode and you’re running into an issue restoring it.
    Take a look at the article linked below which provides a lot of great information about recovery mode, including details about the restore process and what to do if the device isn’t recognized by iTunes.
  • Ipad2 not syncing in recovery mode
    I was just trying to update my ipad2 with ios 4.3.3 to ios 7 but once i tried it for some reason it went to recovery mode and now i cant change it back. Itunes is not syncing with the ipad so i cant do anything, tried all the reset and DFU all that. help? thanks
    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.
  • IOS8 update failed on my iPad2, now stuck in recovery mode
    Hi there
    I am in a bit of a pickle! This is what happened:
    1.     Plugged my iPad2 into iTunes, downloaded iOS8 and it began to install;
    2.     iTunes downloaded the software and began to update iPad;
    3.     Device showed Apple Logo and progress bar BUT then update failed. iTunes informed me it failed, clicked OK. iPad stuck and did not recover;
    4.     Did a hard reset;
    5.     iPad showed Red iTunes logo and said to connect to iTunes;
    6.     Connected to iTunes which stated: iPad Recovery Mode, If you are experiencing problems with your iPad, you can restore to original settings by clicking Restore iPad
    7.     Clicked restore iPad - warnings about losing data etc...
    8.     iTune redownloaded iOS8,
    9.     After downloading iTunes went back to the iPad Recovery Mode screen,
    10.   iTunes redownloaded iOS8
    11.   goes into an infinite loop back to point 6 and round and round we go.....
    If I leave the iPad it exits recovery mode and tries to restart - but black screen after apple logo.......
    Going back into recovery mode - it does the same again.... no joy...
    I'm really stuck - thankfully have a backup, but does anyone have any suggestions?????????
    Thankyou!
    PS - iTunes, and OS Mavericks is fully up to date...
    It's not possible to revert to a previous system. You're failing and it won't work, because it's not possible.
    If you want to give your operating system a fresh start, here's how to do it ... reset to factory default ...
    Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!
    First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.
    Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.
    On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.
    This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.
    my  ipad i have been restore it yesterday my computer shut down in the middel now my ipad2 stuck in recovery mode and cant be detect by itunes and it is jaikbroken ?
    Try these steps. If it doesn't work the first time, try a second time.
    Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off. (If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.)
    While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. (Note: If you see the screen that shows you are out of battery, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.)
    Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button
    If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode..."
    Use iTunes to restore the device.
    If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    Hope this helps!
