IPad2 screen protector needed

My device is scheduled to arrive at the end of the month and I need a screen protector. I am not that concerned about marks on the back of the unit.
Apple stores do not sell these.
I have one on my iPhone and it has been invaluable.
Has anyone located a quality, easy to install screen protector for the iPad2?

I have my Zagg Invisible Shield full body waiting for my iPod 2 to arrive. They are not simple to install by yourself but I have them on my phones too and have practice installing them but if you go to a retailer you can have one professionally installed for a fee. Its well worth it.

  • Screen protector needed?

I have a new iPad and I'm just wondering if I should buy a screen protector. I mean I'm pretty careful og my iPad I have a smart cover and a back cover to protect my iPad so is a screen protector needed? Any help woud be appreciated.

Its definitely a user preference thing. I have one on mine and love it, while others never have had one and never want one.
I think the one thing to consider...how do you use it? Just you in the living room where it stays in the house? Or do you toss it in your bag and carry it around with others possibly using it?
If you're in situations where you could damage it, then it may be a good idea. But if you're never out of the house, then you may be okay.
For me? It's a $500 investment and I want to protect it and keep it in good shape for as long as I can....so it's never anywhere 'naked', both front and back. But I also toss mine in my backpack and carry it around.

  • Is a screen protector needed for an iPad mini 3?

i Was told that they have them built in but can't find support info on that.

A screen protector (very thin plastic, user-applied screen coating) is not "built in" to any iPad (or otherwise).
A screen protector is not really needed if you use something like an Apple Smart Cover which will help protect the screen.

If you choose to purchase an aftermarket screen protector and have never installed one before, I highly recommend you have the store where you purchase it from install it for you. On large devices such as iPads, they can be very difficult to install correctly.

  • Question about iPad2 screen protector

I got a Great Shield screen protector for my new iPad. It was super easy to install and looks great. But when I saw it online, it had two holes at the top, one for the camera and one for the light meter (I think that's what it is, the tiny circle above the camera). The shield that I received  and installed just had a hole for the camera, so the protector covers the littler hole. Is this a problem? The camera seems to be working fine, but I'm a bit concerned that it wasn't just as I saw it. Thanks - I'd appreciate hearing anyone's comments.

No it won't harm your iPad, but it might cause picture distortion on the edges of the photos. If your pictures look fine then you are OK.

  • Is screen protector needed?

want to use iphone with clear view. But screen protector's problem is light scattering. Without screen protector, I can enjoy clear view of screen. In the other hand, I am concerned with small scratches on the screen.

    Personal decision. Look at these:

  • Need a silicone case with screen protector for Zen Mi

Anyone seen a silicone case like the ones on ebay for the zen micro, but one that has a screen protector like the iSkins do? I need a case, the vaja are way too expensi've and I don't want anything bulky like the leather cases I've seen.

One more option: I have read and seen all of the case posts and had decided on the pdaen leather belt pouch, because it has a flip over snapable face protection with total accessability otherwise. Then I was working outside one day and it was raining slightly so I started using small plastic bags--ziplock and another which is like the bag at the grocery store that you put your produce in. I make a tiny incision for the jack and either tie or zip the open end. This works so well that I am no longer looking for a bag of any kind. It keeps out the dirt and more importantly, moisture, and it gives me exactly the same access as I had before I wrapped it-- touchpad and all. Not at all stylish, I know, just practical and functional.

  • Do u  need a screen protector for the Iphone

I know it might be a stupid question but alot of my friends have the Iphone 4 and they say they dont need a screen protector because the screen doesnt scratch like other smartphone and phone screens. Anyone know if this is true?
    Eric

I use all my devices naked. Screen protectors detract from my enjoyment. But if you're worried, try one and see if you can live with it.
The glass is really strong. I've had my iPad for eight months and it doesn't have a scratch on it. Granted, that device is babied more than a phone, not shoved in a pocket.
Be sure to follow Apple's directions for cleaning the screen. Cleaning it too often can break down the oils that protect the glass.

  • Do you need a screen protector for iphone4s

Do you need a screen protector for iphone 4s ?

It depends on how you handle and use the phone.  If you put it in a pocket or bag with loose change, keys, grit, etc, the oleophobic coating will likely scratch and sometimes the glass will scratch as well.

  • Do You really Need a Screen Protector?

I'd just like to know if you really need this, the GS has a different coating on their screen than the previous models. Do these protectors really work, do you need them on your GS for insurance?

A screen protector on the new 3GS would defeat the purpose of the oleophobic coating. I have tried protectors on my Palms but I prefer bare back with the iPhone. Screen protectors are a pain to apply without leaving wrinkles and bubbles and you can never replicate the smooth feel of the glass. You will also lose a little bit of screen brightness as they will never be 100% transmitting. I carry the iPhone in my pocket with the screen facing my pants leg and my wallet on top without an unsightly bulge. I don't put keys or lose change in that pocket. I agree that if you are throwing the iphone into a bag, purse, or backpack with lots of sharp objects (like your eating utensils or Bowie knife set), a slip cover might be a good idea. I bought one but it was so tight and hard to remove that I don't use it. Maybe others can suggest a good case that preserves the slimness of the iPhone.

  • Do you really need a screen protector for iPad?

So I know the iPad 4th gens have a really durable glass screen. Do I really need a screen protector? I have a case that covers the screen. It is an incpio.

If you have a cover for it (your case) you shouldn't need a screen protector. I use Apple's Smart Cover and do not have a screen protector.

  • Will i need a case or screen protector for iphone 5

will i need a case or screen protector for iphone 5? heard the glass is tougher, but still concerned about scratches.

I think you probably should ask if others ever felt they needed them. I can tell you from my experience that applying a screen protector never worked out for me and I always took them off shortly after applying (bubbles / dust enclosed). But then a former colleague had his applied in an Apple Store and that looked perfect. Fortunately I never had a scratch in a screen as I always took good care (and my iPhones always had a pocket in my trowsers to themselves and didn't need to share it with keys or other scratchy objects ...).
The case is a completely different story: I think every phone I had so far managed at least once to slide out of my pockets (don't laugh!) while being on a loo and hit the floor from low hight. Due to the covers I had, the phone looked as new as before, just the cases had a slight scratch if at all. Therefore a case would be highly recommended esp as it can safe you iPhone if you drop it from higher hight.
Reading the first hands-on reviews it appears that the new iPhone 5 is built with materials that are less prone to scratch or crack but my first purchase next Friday will be a case. Not sure if bumper or full case but a case nevertheless.

  • Do I need a screen protector for my New iPad with retina display?

I have a screen protector on my new iPad with retina display, but does this effect the screen display and do I really need a screen protector on?

So I just got my first ever iPad (4th gen) about 4 days ago. I am waitng on a case and have been looking into a screen protector, debating this same question on quality. I have a 3 year old and he is dying to play with it. In the meantime I cannot stress how careful I have been, as Im sure you all know what Im talking about.  Last night I was using it on my lap and my shirt tugged it off, causing me to grab it before it fell. Of course the longest, sharpest nail, caught it for me. Obviously I freak out and hurry to clean the screen to see for damage. I see there is a huge line where my nail caught it, but upon cleaning was no longer there. This nail was sharper than any key I own! So I guess what im going to do is get a complete cover for use with my 3 year old and just a basic one when I use it. Good job apple!
