IPad2 suddenly stopped recognizing wifi networks

It was connecting fine, but now it won't even recognize networks.  Any clues?  Already went through connecting manually and resetting...

Try...
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.

  • Ipod just stopped recognizing my network

We have a network in our home with an airport extreme. There are three macs on the network, and it's also used by an ipad and my ipod touch. Suddenly, this morning, my ipod stopped recognizing the network. It sees it but then it asks me for the password. I input it, and it tells me it's wrong (it's not).
all the other computers and ipad work fine. The ipod was working fine last night. I checked the forum and several people suggested resetting the network settings. I did that, but it didn't help.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
    thanks,
    jeff

Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Your touch will restart. If it doesn't reconnect to your network, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and re-enter your network name, security setting, and network password.
If you are still having problems, reboot the Airport Extreme (just unplug the thing) and when it restarts, reset the touch network settings again and then do the forced logon.

Could have to do with home sharing. Try turining off and then back on home sharing on your AppleTV.

  • My time capsule suddenly stopped recognizing my computers.

My time capsule suddenly stopped recognizing both my mac book and my mac pro. It used to work fine and now every time I log into a computer I can't back up (and the time capsule has a green light). I have tried resetting time capsule but no success (maybe I am doing it wrong. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

So I have had the same problem, try this fix for Airport Extreme/Time Capsule .
Airport Utility > Select the Extreme/Time Capsule in question > Disks > Disconnect All Users
Reboot the Extreme/Time Capsule in question > once back online > goto Finder > Shared > Reconnect Drive
    > Open Time Machine Preferences > Select Disk > Use Backup disk > Backup Now

  • Final Cut Suddenly Stopped Recognizing Files It Had Recognized Before

FCE 4 has suddenly stopped recognizing certain files that it has recognized without a problem for the past several years I’ve used the program. It won’t recognize 1920x1080 mp4, but it WILL recognize 1920x1080 mov and it WILL recognize 1080x720 mp4. All .h264 codec. Using AIC 1080x60i in FCE. It also won’t recognize .jpg or .tif. There was no software update that could have thrown this off. It was a working one day, not working the next kind of situation. Files play fine in QT. Reinstalled the program. I still get the same File Error: Unknown File. Any ideas?

Have you tried trashing uour FCE preferences? That is usually the first step when FCE begins to act in unexpected ways. Reinstalling the app will not overwrite existing preferences - you need to trash them.
You can download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) and it will do all the work for you. Do a Google search.

  • DVD Player suddenly stops recognizing and playing homemade DVDs

The DVD Player in our G5 has suddenly stopped recognizing and playing some home made movies on DVD from several friends. These discs played just fine before, but now we get a message that says "supported disc not available".
I've got the latest version of DVD Player 4.6.5. Why would it suddenly stop reading all these DVDs? Thanks for any ideas or help. Bob Krist
G5 Tower   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   SONY DVD RW DW-Q28A player

    My experience/opinon:
Without blaming Apple, it is a DigitalRightsManagment
problem, Apple is obligated to fullfill. You will
find that your homemade DVD plays fine on any
ordinary PC or even annother MAC-environment, just
    not on your own.
As of Mac-OS-X.46(5 not quite sure ) Support for
    UDF-Format ceased,
I believe to have read somewhere. So your DVD is
    mounted, but does'nt
    show up on the desktop.
    I am using OSX 10.4.7 (Build 8J135) DVD Player 4.6.5 (Framework 4.6.6)
Home-made video DVD-Rs work fine. DVD player starts when a disk is inserted. The disk shows up on desktop. Get Info and Disk Utility show UDF (Universal Disk Format). Finder shows the VIDEO_TS folder, .VOB files, etc. Get Info's Preview window will even play the .VOB files.
So, UDF read support is still in OSX 10.4.7 OSX has never had UDF write support except for iDVD.
I personally record movies from TV, legally. And my
solution to that problem is to create a Disk-Image,
    that I burn on a data-disc, and I don't use
    DVD-Player.
DVD Imager <http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html> will create UDF disk image files from VIDEO_TS folders. When you burn these with Disk Utility they will play in standalone DVD players and in Macs. They will start Apple's DVD Player when inserted.
Toast can also create UDF disks.
If you create non-UDF disks (e.g. with Disk Utility), most standalone DVD players will not play them and Apple's DVD player will not start automatically when the DVDs are inserted. You can still play them with Apple's DVD Player by using "Open DVD Media" from its "File" menu and choosing the VIDEO_TS folder.

  • Iphone 5s stopped joining wifi networks

Suddenly, my iphone 5s (I've had it more than six months) stopped recognizing my home wifi network. Can't even get on as a guest. How do I fix this?

I have a 5 and have had similar issues on and off for the past 6 months. I have AT&T and have spotty reception at my office and connect to my company's Verizon Mi-fi WLAN to ensure that I receive texts while at work. However, sometimes when I leave the office and come back later in the day I can no longer connect to it, even though the device says it's connected under Settings. The same thing then happens for all other saved networks and I have to Reset Network Settings everytime this happens (almost each work day). This is HUGELY annoying. I have an appt at the Genius Bar on Saturday to see if they can diagnose it (I'm guessing it'll be a waste of time since I'll be able to connect to their wi-fi perfectly). It has someimthing to do with crappy AT&T reception and/or logging onto Verizon's mi-fi that I believe is the issue but if anyone experienced similar issues please let me know!!

  • My iPad just stopped recognizing wifi, but my iPod and iPhone are working well.  Does anyone else have a wifi problem with their iPads?

Today my iPad simply stopped recognizing the house network.  I have an iPod Touch and iPhone4 that aren't having any problem with wifi.

First, try Airplane-Mode for 10 seconds. If this doesn't help, try resetting the network-configuration. This can be accomplished by heading to Settings --> General --> (at the very foot of the page) Reset --> Reset Network Settings. Then reboot iPad.
However, if all that didn't help, you can get to a near Apple Store, or, in case of functionality, there's still the guarantee.

  • Superdrive suddenly stopped recognizing DVDs and DVD-Rs

Okay, I just spend 2 whole days trying to find any situation like this. Trouble shooting and experimenting.
Whilst burning a CD with Toast the process suddenly stopped during verification and an error was given. The CD spit out. It was just some music and I had work to do, so.. I went on to burning some data onto a DVD-R.
The Disk went in. Spun. Made a noise like the when a reader is trying to figure out what the media is. A Grrrrr. It spins some more. A long pause of about a minute.
Then the disk is spit out. No error. The disk is never recognized. Toast asks for blank media again. Keep in mind, just before this I was burning DVD-Rs. Same Media. Same process. Just stopped to burn the music CD.
So, I figure its bad media. I get about 1 or 2 on a spindle of disks. Usually at the bottom or the first disk. So, I put another disk in and try again.
Same thing. So, I try from Finder. Disk is never recognized. It is spit out the same way. (Thought that maybe something on Toast was corrupt)
Pretty freaked out, I put a burned DVD-R in. Nothing. Then a comercially pressed DVD. Spit out as well. (It was Elf. Which I would have spit out too) I then put a pressed CD in. (Madonna) It is recognized and iTunes starts up. The CD even plays.
I try to burn a CD-R. The process starts and when it is buring the Write out at the end it stops and gives me:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = BLANK CHECK
    Sense Code = 0x00
    NO ADDITIONAL SENSE INFORMATION
Then the disk is spit out after I hit Okay. Eeep.
Someone gives me a Maxell lense cleaner disk. Nothing to lose. I played it. Because it is a CD format. The drive recognizes it and I am able to run the clean process.
Then I got the same results. One attempt I get another error:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = HARDWARE ERROR
    Sense Code = 0x44, 0x8E
    INTERNAL TARGET FAILURE
Now all this is strange because... this is a 9 month old G5 dual with the superdrive that Apple put in it. Pioneer DVR-109 dual layer DVD-RW. There have been no unusual behavior leading up to this failure. The drive is not over used. I have not changed media.
I tested the drive with DVD-Rs from other spindles. And different brands. Including some old 1X DVD-Rs that I had forgotten in my hutch. (still sealed in there crystal cases) Same results.
So...has anyone ever experienced this with the 109? or even other drives. I can't believe it is a hardware issue because there hasn't been any previous signs of impending failure. (I have seen the deaths of several drives over the years) I am convinced that it is some obscure control files somewhere.
I ran Tech Tool Pro 4.1.1 on it and did a surface scan of a CD. The only way I could get it to recognize the drive. It reported the drive as unwritable, even though it identified it correctly. (as did System Profiler)
Sorry for the long explaination. But, I don't want to waste anyones time with avenues I have already explored.
Thanks to anyone who has some light to shed on this.
    Gord
    G5 Dual 2.3Ghz Power PC 3GB RAM, 2x120HDD, Superdrive DVD-RW dual layer   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Thanks Drew,
I have avoided the external drive option because I thought that they would be slower, or less reliable. However, we have been using those Maxtor Firewire external HDD around here and they are great. So, maybe an external DVD-R might be a good solution now.
(They used to be fairly poor options a few years ago.)
We have an Apple Store 2 blocks from my office here in San Francisco. Shiny new and it looks like a Titanium Cube. My experiences with the Genius Bar and before that Applecare have been the feeling that they spend a good deal of time trying to see how this could be my fault and not their responsibility.
Also, because I am a bit of a geek, by the time I resort to getting help from them, I have exhausted the usual "in the book" solutions. Usually, they are ill prepared for something unusual, that isn't caused by not having the power plugged in, etc.
I do customer service here for the more technical issues our customers have with Video on Demand and DVD issues. People can be really hostile when they call. So, I go out of my way to be pleasant and upbeat when I am dealing with my problems. Apple Care/Genius Bar people aren't rude or anything. I just get the feeling that they are pressured to not spend too much money making customers satisfied with their hardware. (a matter of policy is my bet)
I use my Macs because their software is unparalled in its ease of use and professional application. When I have to deal with duplication houses and their techs. I often hear a sign of relief when I tell them that I am using DVD Studio Pro to author my masters. Because this means that the DVD-Rs I send them are correct and compliant in everyway.
Apple software rocks. I am encouraged by their move to Intel chips recently for their hardware.
Thanks again Drew. I am working on the permissions today and if it looks like a hardware issue, I am off to look at an external. Great suggestion.

  • Premiere Pro Cs5.5 suddenly stop recognizing my 24''inch second display on my imac

    Hi there,
I have Premiere Pro installed on my imac 27inch with an ATI Radeon HD 4850. 'Til yesterday it had been working properly but all of a sudden stop to playing video on my second display. If I go to the "Playback settings", either source or program monitor ones, it seems like PP can't see the display anymore. I did reboot everything, actually several times but nothing worked. Does anyone knows if there's a preference file in the mac's library that can be gone corrupted or any other solution to my issue?
I should say the display is a Philips 241E1 full hd although I don't think that is gonna make any difference. Sometimes I also plug in my Sony Bravia 40inch hdtv through a DVI to HDMI adapter and always PP recognized both.
It didn't happen while performing this operation but just while editing some stuff.
Any suggestion to this is gonna be warmly appreciated, thanks.

Ok, just to let you know in case you may encounter the same problem, 5 mins later after I've been writing this post, and after a couple of days was blasting my head off to get this sorted, here it comes the last (but worth) attempt: I decreased the resolution of my main display from 2560X1440 to 1920X1200 and left my secondary display's res to 1920X1080. Then I booted up Premier Pro and.. immediately it worked. So, with PP still on I switched back my main screen res to 2560X1440 and everything went fine. Kinda odd workaround but...

  • Imac suddenly stopped connecting to network

sorry if this topic already exists somewhere. i've been searching these forums for an hour and can't find any useful help on the subject.
we bought our first mac almost 1.5 yrs ago. this beautiful 27" imac worked fine for 1 year and then suddenly stopped connecting to our wireless network. distance to the wireless router isn't an issue. doesn't matter where i move it to in the house, it sees the network, but won't connect anymore. 6 other laptops/video game consoles/pc's all continue to connect w/o a problem. this happened once approx 3 months ago and i figured our old router had kicked the bucket, so i bought a new router and it worked fine for several months and now it's happening again.
i've gone thru all the preliminary steps of unplugging the modem, the router, the imac, and renewing the dhcp but nothing helps. it will work fine if i wire it directly to the router, but i don't want to run a 75ft ethernet cable thru the house.
i'm so frustrated with this supposedly wonderful imac! can anyone help me?

Here's something to think about... I know my AT&T DSL Cable Modem will only allow a certain number of connections. A few years ago that might not have been an issue, but now with wi-fi cells, gaming systems with netflix, other laptops/ipads, you might be exceeding that limit. It could be they are all connected and you don't have a spot on the router.
This might be elementary, but thought I'd throw that out there.

  • MacBook Pro Retina stopped detecting wifi network in one location.

Hey everyone, experiencing kind of a weird problem and was hoping someone would be able to help.   I was doing some studying at a Starbucks, connected to their WiFi network when randomly my computer lost connection to their network and was no longer able to detect that it even exists. I was worried this was some sort of problem with my wifi card as it could no longer detect any networks nearby, where as before it was detecting multiple networks in the area of the Starbucks. Oddly i was still able to connect to the network on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Upon returning home I was relieved to find that I was still able to connect to my home wifi network. Since then i've been to many locations with my laptop but not once had an issue connecting to or detecting wifi networks, with the exception being at that Starbucks location. I've returned many times hoping that the problem would somehow fix itself, and that maybe it was just a problem with their network, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It seems to be that for whatever reason something happened to the MacBook pro while I was at that Starbucks location that has caused it to no longer detect the wifi networks there, and only there.  One possibility could be the I updated Mountain Lion to the 10.8.2 supplemental update while there, but I don't see how that would cause the problem. If anyone has any ideas as to a solution that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I considered the network hog point, but I don't believe that I was using any excessive amounts of bandwidth. Also, because I can no longer detect any networks at the Starbucks location (not just the Starbucks network) I don't believe that this is the problem. Also, when I updated the operating system I was sure to disconnect from wifi first, I had already downloaded the update on my home network, just had yet to restart to install it, so my security shouldn't have been an issue either.  How exactly can I go about masking my MAC address so I could double check to see if it was the network issue?
Oh, also, I booted into Windows 7 via boot camp and for some reason Windows is also unable to detect any networks while at Starbucks as well, which is even more confusing.  I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but I bought this MacBook pro retina in Canada and am now in There UK for school. I've heard that north American macs don't play well with one of the network channels that is commonly used over here, so that also may play a role in all of this. But considering that I was able to consistently use their wifi for a couple weeks with no issue, I don't see how that could be the problem. As far as WEP encrypted goes, the network is unsecured so I don't believe that's the problem.
Thanks for the response, I appreciably appreciate it!

  • Suddenly stopped recognizing CD-Rs

Recently I've tried to make a few copies of CDs with my MBP using iTunes
The first CD copied just fine, no problems.
And now, every time since that incident I've not been able to insert a CD-R and have my MBP Recognize it.
I've transfered a lot of files from my old PC over to this computer that were burnt onto discs before this happened no problem.
It seems as if its suddenly stopped working.
If any of you know how I could go about check to see if I've somehow changed a setting (other than the CDs&DVDs Ignore option in Sys Prefs, because I've already checked that..) I'd really appreciate the help.
