IPad2 typing by itself

My iPad2 (over a year old now) has started acting up. It types by itself or sometimes opens websites randomly when I am in Safari.
I backed it up on iTunes and reset the iPad2. That did not help.
I then upgraded to iOS6 and that didnt help either.
Any pointers?
thanks

Have you cleaned your screen? A dirty screen can cause this issue. If your screen is clean then do a soft reset. Hold the Power and Home Button down untill you see the Apple Logo, let go. Let me know if that worked.

  • Mac is typing by itself & adding spaces to everything I type

    Hi,
A couple of days ago, I opened my Macbook, and on my password screen I noticed that words or letters were being filled in, without me even  pressing anything. It would just show something  being typed in,  cleared, and typed in  again. I would then just highlight the text and delete it, putting my password in and I could log in fine. Now, when I type online,  oftentimes my mac  will  start  typing  by itself, things like  " nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn."  until I stop it. It  also adds spaces  between letters that  I have to go back and erase, which is hard because the delete button won't work half the time!
Here is a s ample ofme  trying t o type  normally.  I'm  pressing  all  the r ight  keys but     t      h is  is  how i t                  turns out                                              .
I've restarted, but nothing changes. Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas, before I have to take it in .

    Hi,
I'm having the same issue. My macbook is about 3.5 years old, have never had a problem with it, nor have I ever dropped it/spilled anything on it.
Today whenever I go to type it automatically starts typing letters over and over and adds spaces. Example: ittttttt       looooooooks like thiiiiiissss   .
Having found this thread I unplugged the power cord, and it's now running on battery power. It's still typing by itself regardless of battery power, or cord power. Any thoughts?
Note: I have a wireless internet connection. Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.
    Please help!

  • IPad gone crazy, typing by itself. Replacement only option?

My iPad have never worked, 5-10 min after I started it it is typing by itself. Like a self playing piano. This video illustrates the problem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkP0dfw598k&feature=related
So, do I have to return it or can it be fixed somehow?

Here's a longer thread on this issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2412750&start=0&tstart=45
Please at least arrange a phone call with Apple support. We need them to acknowledge this as a known issue so they will replace them under warranty. I have yet to get Apple to replace my iPad with this issue, because I can't replicate the issue at will.

  • My ipad2 keeps turning itself off and On

my ipad2 keeps turning itself off and on. I can be playing a game or looking on the Internet and it will just turn off and restart all by itself. I pulled up and hooked it up to itunes on my computer but I'm not really sure what to do there either.  It's so annoying, especially when it's used daily, or all day, by me or my kids and it's constantly shutting off in the middle of things.

DId the rebooting start recently after doing an iOS update or installing a game?
There could be several reasons for your iPad randomly shutting down & restarting.
Sometimes low memory (RAM) can cause the issue.
First, restart the iPad by holding down the home & sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears then let go and wait until the iPad boots up normally.  This can help clear the cache & free up memory.
If that doesn't work, try a general reset:
Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings.  You will not lose any data but will have to log back into your Wifi networks.
If the issue occurs while using a particular app, try uninstalling the app to see if it continues.
As a last resort try restoring the iPad back to factory settings.  Be sure to backup your iPad first.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
Unfortunately, it may also be that your battery is starting to fail but try the above to see if the problem persists.

  • Symptom: iBook typing by itself. Diagnosis: Video Ram Error

My ibook types by itself sometimes.
If I run the Apple Hardware Test when the computer is fine then the computer will pass the Apple Hardware Test.
But, if I run the Apple Hardware Test when the computer is malfunctioning then the computer will fail the Apple Hardware Test.
    Here is the error message:
    Video RAM Error detected
    **ERROR*CODE***ERROR*CODE**
    2ATI/2/4: 113-xxxxx- 1 42
    **ERROR*CODE***ERROR*CODE**
Is there any genius out there who has a solution?
I already took my computer to an authorised Apple Service Centre, they told me that I should replace the logic board.
I live in a developing country. A new logic board is too expensive for me.
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.7)

I'm guessing you actually have two problems. A video RAM problem and a keyboard problem. I can't believe a video RAM problem would reveal itself by typing. The keyboard can be replaced easily, it's a user-replaceable part. I might try to get that replaced first. It shouldn't be too expensive. However, this will not fix the video RAM problem you've detected. You will need to replace the logic board to get that fixed.

  • My 5 days iPad2 turns off itself

    Dear all
I just got Ipad2 from 5 days ago and after install a lot of apps now it's switched off itself when I open the settings, I try the soft reset ( from setting - general - Reset) and the hard reset by pressing the power  + home bottoms for 15 second and nothing happen still the problem there
Any advice what to do ???.?.?a.
    Note: I on IOS 5.1.1

Follow all the steps here; http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/ipad/
If you still cannot get it to work bring it back to Apple. They will either fix the problem or offer you a replacement.

  • My iphone4 is calling and typing by itself, my iphone4 is calling and typing by itself, my iphone4 is calling and typing by itself

iphone 4 is calling and deleting by itself after screen change please help!!!!!!!

Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.
Has any of this been tried?
Since Apple does not replace screens, I can only conclude that this was done by yourself or an unauthorized repair center.  It is possible that something was not connected correctly.

  • KeyBoard typing by itself

    I have an imac
I have a problem with my keyboard and it is get to be very annoying. I have two external keyboards that I have tried this with, one the mac keyboard and the other would be a razor gaming keyboard.
so when I type or just leave the keyboard, it would randomly start typing "qweqweqweqweqwe" I would have to backspace over and over again.
I think this has to do something with some type of software or viruse...
I do not know how to get rid of it or solve the issue.
the only way I know it will stop is if disconnected the usb keyboard. Both keyboards work will with other PC, so the problem is with my Imac.

    Hello,
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • IPad Mini controls itself

This is my second iPad Mini. The first one started typing by itself and furiosly controlling itself making it impossible to use. Still under warranty I got a replacement.
The second one, acquired also brand new from an Apple store is doing the same thing after about 8 months. Has anyone been having this problem lately? Perhaps this is something that Apple must seriously look into.

I've had that same problem the last couple of days. Question: Did you turn on the "reduce motion" feature? I turned it on the other day, I just turned it off and so far so good. I by no means am sure this will solve it.

  • Keyboard keys typing themselves after water spillage

    Hello,
I spilled water on my wireless mac keyboard.  I have left it upside down to air dry for a few days but when I put the batteries in and start it up the keyboard keeps typing itself and won't let me do anything.  Can I do anything to save the keyboard?
    Thank you
    kiera

I have been letting it dry longer as suggested perhaps not long enough yet, I tried it and it has stopped typing by itself.  The middle row of keys and the space bar is working but nothing else.  Are the rest likely to come back or is it done for?

This means some of the keys are stuck in the down press and no longer function and you need to replace the complete keyboard as you noted you get that long beep noise is a good indicator of a stuck keyboard. So call HP support and see what it would cost to get a replacement keyboard to fix the problem. Keyboards do go bad some just stop responding and some does what it is doing on yours ghost typing before you type.
