IPad2 upgrade to iOS 8 ? from iOS 6 !

Hi my wife has been scared stiff to upgrade her most favourite Toy for fear of loosing Photos accumulated over a few years, currently she has iOS 6 on her 16gb iPad2
There is an App she would like, but it tells her she needs to upgrade to iOS7.
I have heard rumours that some people have LOST photos when they have upgraded to iOS 8, if my missus looses any of her Photos, MY LIFE WILL NOT BE WORTH LIVING !!!!
I started to upgrade it and was told there was not enough Memory !!!, Alarm bells rang immediately. I deleted some Apps and tried again, and I then got cold feet, and stopped the Upgrade downloading by switching it OFF
So please what is the best way to Upgrade my Wifes iPad2 WITHOUT loosing ANY of her Photos ????? Please Please

Import the photos to the Mac from the camera roll, those would be the photos that she doesn't want to lose - the ones that she took with the iPad. If she has any synced photos on the iPad, then they are already on the Mac.
You might want to consider using iTunes to update the iPad rather than doing it over th air via WiFi. The file is smaller when you use iTunes. You absolutely want to backup and transfer purchases before you update the device.

NOTE - iCloud is NOT for storage. It is for backups. You should import the photos to your computer rather than rely on an iCloud backup.

If you just updated to iOS 5, then you had to hack it to do so. You can only update to the current version, which is 6.1.2.

Don't believe the bad press. It is generally wrong anyway.
I say that you should upgrade to iOS 8.1. So far both myself and the users I help to support have upgrade without any problems at all.

Trying to upgrade Iphone 4 from IOS 4.3.3 to IOS 6

Im trying to upgrade the IOS from 4.3.3 to 6. When I plug the phone into Itunes and click on upgrade, the process just kinda of freezes when the phone is being backed up. I can back up the phone no problem without doing the IOS upgrade. I do have the latest version of itunes. Any suggestions? Is there another way to download IOS6?

I don't think that the distance from 4.3.4 to 7 is going to be your issue. Remember that the iPad 2 is the oldest device supported by iOS 7, so it may be slow in places.
I don't think I've seen many issues, but you can search here by typing "iPad 2 iOS 7" and see if there's any watchouts.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

I have the most recent version of iTunes,and it recognizes that I need to update to iOS 6, but just quits mid-update every time. No error message or anything. The only weird thing going on is that it always wants to Transfer My Purchases to iTunes before doing the update. Well, I did this manually before opting to update, but it still tells me there are some purchases that this computer isn't authorized for. Then it brings up my son's username, bc I guess he's logged into my iPad several times and downloaded something under his account, then logged out and logged me back in. Maybe that's messing it up?

I have a 3GS I have just updated the iOS from IOS 4.?.? to iOS 6.?.? I realise this should have been done ages ago. My phone works after the upgrade, but none of my Apps, Photos from designated folder or Music will sync.

When I do connect the phone. iTunes says back up was interupted and to click to resume, it just then hangs on time remaining without a number? If I dissconnect during this I get Error (-10) I can then access my phone in iTunes and my phone does work? In iTunes I can see all the things that were on my phone, all the Apps/Music/Phots/Other etc.. with their relevant amount (Music 8.2gb/Apps 2.1gb etc...) in the coloured bar along the bottom, so if I then click Apply you would think it would just copy them to the phone. It doesn't as soon as you click Apply the multi coloured bar and catagories changes just to 'Other' and (1004mb) and only the basics are on my phone. No music, no additional Apps and only Camera Roll, not photos from chosen folder.
Any suggestions would be great.
