IPAD2 (w/Verizon) Question - use in Europe

My wife recently purchased an IPAD2 - with the Verizon carrier feature. She will be traveling to Europe in a few weeks. I understand that the Verizon IPADs require some add-on feature for compatability in Europe. Can anyone advise me further (i.e. what product/where to purchase, etc)? thanks in advance.

Verizon (with the exception of the new LTE Standard 4G system not available on the iPhone or iPad) uses a CDMA cell system that is not available in Europe. She will have to use WiFi or obtain a MiFi hotspot device.

My question is that I want to buy the new Iphone 5C, but I want to use it here in Portugal. I was in the store menu looking for it and it appears that I have to stay with a network for two years, if not the price will increase significantly. The Verizon iPhone 5 is sold as unlocked. You can buy it full retail and use it anywhere you want. However, you won't get LTE in Europe and you won't be eligible for warranty service unless you take the phone back to the U.S. You won't be able to buy one on a contract unless you can pass a U.S. credit check. The minimum monthly cost would be $59.99 plus tax. I assume that all of this information will be true of of the 5C as well.

You can use the File Sharing feature at the bottom of the iTunes Apps pane when you connect to iTunes. Transfer the documents to your computer, and from there to your iPhone.

8830 WE on verizon questions before purchase

Im starting a job monday that is going to require international travel (thus the reason im getting the 8830, im with Verizon)
Questions:
1. If i dont unlock my phone what do I gain/lose? Why should I do this?
2. If i pop a sim in from another carrier, say vodaphone, will I get a new number, aka a euro specific number?
3. What will be the best way to call back to the states? Id really like to use my cell phone to be able to be able to call home. Would a sim card from euro let me call home? Is prepaid the best way to go so I avoid some huge charges?
4. Will the 8830WE work all over, Ive only seen people who goto europe but i know that Ill be traveling to every continent (spare antartica) will the phone work in all of these places?
5. Im trying my best to stay with verizon as its been very reliable to me or should i switch to a GSM carrier.
Any advice is greatly appreciated, this will be my first blackberry and am looking forward to it!

1. you wont be able to use other simcards so unlocking you phone is your best bet
2. yes, becouse you are under their subscription
3. use a prepaid local to where you are at
4. maybe not on the moon. but as long as they have a gsm sim and maybe so realy obscure places rim hasnt thought of yet

Many attempts were executed by the readies (CSR's) & Jet-I (MOD's) alike, inevitably it became apparent more training was needed in the ways of the source.
The question now being asked in this saga, is the VRUC-50 useless? Should efforts to get card service from Walmart cease? Maybe Allie with another CPSP (Cellular Phone Service Provider) after all they may provide the same services for less!
Additionally it is concluded that the statement posted on the front of the cards, refill, re-use or whatever indicating unlimited talk, text & web simply is not true, only basic models does this apply, such as the lower grade flip phones.

Yeah, you should still be able to use that old sim, you just need to have Verizon reassign your number to that sim card... or you can do so online yourself at verizonwireless.com/activatenow. You will just need your sim number and the imei from the droid ultra.

My experience with their custome service has generally been good and the answers generally accurate. I know that they did change the requirement that phone roam on CDMA, if available. Apple added a switch to turn that off in 5.1. I don't know if that counts as "changing their story" or simply deciding it made for fewer unhappy customers.
The nice man in Global Support gave me a couple of disclaimers (only one unlock per number per year and Verizon would not be responsible for any customer/technical support while I was using a different SIM). The whole process was quick and painless.

Thanks, I thought this was the case, checking to see if anything had changed. Spain is the country in question. We previously were not able to obtain a Sim there but that may have been because of a carrier or individual employee problem. About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

No, because the AT&T model doesn't have the CDMA radios for the voice network that Verizon Wireless uses. The data probably won't work either because AT&T and Verizon Wireless uses different frequencies for their data networks.

Just connect the new iPod to your computer and setup the iPod via iTunes (instead of via wifi).

Yes. I use the same Apple ID on four different iDevices. You can sync the contacts with iCloud or with your computer and have them on both devices. You can sync all of the apps as well. If the apps are not in iTunes on your computer - you can download them to the iPad with the same Apple ID. You can also restore the iPad from a backup of the phone to transfer your settings, app data and your contacts.
iPhone only apps will be half size on the iPad screen but will still work as long - you can enlarge the size of the apps - but they will be pixelated on the screen.

You can not currently purchase a Verizon iPhone 5 withou either already having, or establishing service with Verizon.

Today, my FCC complaint hit the same person working on the BBB complaint. Jimmie has been very nice and seems willing to work with this problem. We have been able to come to an agreement. I paid the purchase price for the phone and he returned my upgrade and unlimited data plan. This is what would have occurred if Verizon had given me correct information to begin with. I am happy with this result. He also brought quite a few instances concerning the handling of my transfer and upgrade that did not follow proper procedure. I am also confident that I would not have resolved this without complaining to BBB and or FCC. Verizon had no interest in solving the problem nor did they show any propensity to keeping a 20 year client. Even though this last CSR was very polite and helpful, his sole job is to respond to formal Federal and State complaints. He is required by law to address every complaint and report the reporting agency the agreed upon results - good or bad. Again, I suggest - If you are not getting the proper customer service, complain to someone outside of Verizon. Jimmie had not received any complaints registered with Verizon directly and I still have not had any contact with any other management representative that I was told would call.
