IPad2 when to restore mode when I when to unlock
iPad2 running iOS 5.0.1 (NOT Jailbroken, Never Jailbroken)
I when to unlock my iPad2 I have been using this morning to check my email I had been reading this morning and the "plug in to iTunes" screen is displaying. I don't want to lose everything and spend hours by restoring and take the chance my iCloud backup will delete too.
Any suggestions?
If it's in restore mode, you've already lost everything on the phone.

My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode as well as the DFU? mode and it still will not work. I have the latest version of iTunes on my Mac. My error code was 2002. I also tried it on my laptop (windows 8.1) and none of the above worked. My error code on my laptop was 02. The phone is through Verizon and it has absolutely no damage. It was working fine up until this and I have been trying to fix it for 2 days. Please help! I am unsure of what version the phone was currently running on before this because I have another iphone that's my primary phone and have not used this one in about a month. I do not believe it was updated to IOS 7.
Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

ipod is in restore mode (dropped) but when i try to restore i get the message- ipod server could not be contacted. any ideas?
Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem -
My daughters ipod touch has entered restore mode, but when I attempt to carry out a restore I get an error code 1604.
Any easy solution to this problem?Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

ok so I was getting the IOS 7 update and when i got it, it had an error during the download. so now it says if i want it to put it in restore mode, if i do will my ipod loose everything and if it does will i get it back
I went back to iOS 7 and my backup file is restoring but when its done nothing is on my phone still and only takes 11-15 minutes to restore the backup instead of taking 25+ minutes like usual so I guess the backup is corrupted. How can I fix this?

When I connected to iTunes, my phone said it was in "restore" mode, but I don't know why. Iam afraid that if I continue with the restore, I will lose my recent pics. How can I check iCloud to see if my pics are there? Will I lose my pics if I restore?

my 3gs is stuck in restore mode and when i hook it to my computer to update it goes all the way thru till its to the part where its waiting for iphone and that's it it stays there no matter how long i leave it hooked up.. does anyone know how to fix it??
That does happen. It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system. If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

Do I restore the old phone? What should I do?
it now says the old phone is in restoration mode and to restore iPhone.
Hmmm...
That's a doozy. I'll have to think on that for a bit.
Quite perplexing indeed. A quandary you could say.
Not really sure what you could try...
Have you tried anything yet? -

Error 6 when trying to restore. Phone is stuck in restore mode
I have an iphone in front of me which is stuck in restore mode. I plug it into iTunes, choose restore, choose a firmware (3.1.2) and begin the restore process. I get the following message:
The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6).
If I press more info, the console appears, and the last 2 lines show the following:
Restore failed (result = 6)
iTunes[24792:207]: iTunes: Restore error 6
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.2, iTunes 9.0.3. I've tried using a different user account - no luck. I also tried pointing gs.apple.com to 74.208.10.249 in /etc/hosts thinking maybe it was an activation problem - no luck.
Hoping someone can help - otherwise I've got a very expensive paperweight!
MattFirst delete all .ipsw files on your computer. In OSX they are located here:
~/Library/Application Support/iTunes/iPod/iphone Firmware
If you have your firewall turned on, disable it. Then see if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Also, any reason why you have not updated to 10.6.2? You might try updating to 10.6.2 FIRST & also make sure itunes is up to date, version 9.0.3. -
