IPad2 won't connect to wifi after I installed Lion on my laptop.

My son complained that he could no longer connect to our home wifi from either his laptop or from his XBox. After doing an inventory, my laptop connects, my wife's laptop connects, my iPhone connects, but my iPad2, my son's MacBook and his XBox cannot connect to our home wifi.
To my knowledge, I haven't changed anything. The only thing I can think of is that somehow this is a Lion problem. Is it possible that Lion has changed some kind of Airport setting to make some things connect and some things not?
I'm pretty much out of my depth here. Any ideas? What can I try?

Not related. Installing Lion doesn't make any changes to a wireless router and/or wireless network the computer is connected to that Lion is installed on.
Try resetting the router. Disconnect all computers and devices connected to your wireless network. Unplug the wireless router from its power source to turn it off. Do the same with the modem the wireless router is connected to. Wait a few minutes followed by plugging your modem back in and allow the modem to completely reset before plugging your wireless router back in to power it back on allowing it to completely reset with a new connection with the modem. Follow this by reconnecting every computer and device to your wireless network.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
Try This - Renew IP Address:
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • IPhone 5s won't connect to wifi after 7.0.3 update

I updated my iOS last night to 7.0.3, today i can't connect to wifi. All my other devices and laptop are connected to this same network but i can't join on my phone.

Heya risch, what follows are two experiences both I my brother had with this problem. It seems this issue is so widespread that two people can have bought thier iphone from different sources and have the exact same issue, with varying outcomes.
Worst case first, my brothers iphone. He updated to 7.0.2 and found he just couldnt connect his wi-fi. He was terrified of losing all his (over 1000) contacts so he decided to take his phone in to the local Telstra (Australia) outlet. The guys there tried all sorts of things and finally conceeded and sent the phone back to Apple. Apple to their credit did not question or quibble, they sent out a likley refurb'd or new iphone 4s to my brother then next day.
My issue (now solved) was about the same, though I had just updated to 7.0.3, I just could not get wifi to connect. Finally I decided to delete our homes wifi connection from my iphone ie: "Forget Network", then with the details taken off my computer and ipad I rejoined our home network and simply punched in our network password and bang!. It worked.

  • Won't connect to wifi after updating to ios 6.1.2

Updated my Ipad mini to ios 6.1.2 and now it won't connect to my wifi network. All other devices connect. Tried resetting network settings. Tried hold the home and power button until reset. Tried restoring.
    Thoughts???????

It sees the network. As far as the router goes, I'm staying at a hotel right now not sure if they will reboot just for me. Everything worked fine yesterday after the update but this morning no luck.

  • Won't connect to WIFI after updating to ISO 07?

I just updated my software on my iphone 4 to ISO 0.7(whatever the new one is) and it won't connect to my wifi.  It just keeps trying to connect but never does.  When I connected it to my computer it asks if  i "trust this computer" yes or no.  I say yes and still doesn't connect.  This is making me so mad and eating away at my data because I need to use my internet on my phone.  Please help someone.

If the problem is only your home WiFi do the following:
Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 30 seconds
If that doesn't fix it on the phone go to settings/general/reset - Reset network settings

  • Mac won't connect to wifi after sleep?

    Hello,
I'm a student, and currently on an Enterprise network, and whenever I've used this wifi I always have troubles with connection! The first time I connect at the start of the school year, everything works just fine. However, 90% of the time, after closing the laptop and opening it again, I lose my connection to the wifi - even if I haven't moved.
When I open the laptop it tries to connect to the wifi, and fails. Sometimes it says I have an ip but wont be able to connect, or flat out it cannot connect. Typically I go into my wifi settings and delete the network from the list, then delete the network certificate from my keychain. After turning the wifi off then on, then re-entering my cridentials it will sometimes recconect just fine. Otherwise I have to sit there and connect/dissconecct/wifi on/wifi off till it can connect again. All said and done, getting it to connect again takes me a good 5 mins or so. Not ideal for a college student.
I do NOT have this problem on my home network or any other wifi for that matter, just the schools Enterprise network. I was using Lion up untill today when I upgraded to Mountain Lion, but both OS's have this problem.
Most of my PC peers or Snow Leopard peers have to configure 802.1x settings, however, lion and up does not allow for adding an 802.1x profile. Could this be the source of my problem?
    Thanks for any help.

Is anyone else having this issue?

  • IPad2 won't connect to anything after IOS6 Update

Does anyone have any new ideas how to make an iPad2 connect to iStore/Internet/Anything network related after IOS6 Update?
I have tried everything listed on Apple support Communities including release and renew IP/ Hard reset the iPad/ Let it go completely dead and give it a full charge before rebooting/Forget the network and rest all my settings/ Hard reset my router/Change my router channel. Shall I go on
I even took the ipad to the Apple Genius Bar (or should I say Minimum wage High School student bar) Where I was told that the ipads connection problem was my router when they couldn't get it to connect in the store. I guess if I had a better router the ipad would be able to connect to it half way across the city.
Well anyway it's been 3 months since I have been able to use my ipad2 so if no one here knows how to make it work it's galaxy note 10.1 time I already upgraded my iphone 5 to the Galaxy Note 2 and couldn't be happier with a phone

  • Won't connect to wifi after update

I updated my Iphone 5 four days ago and now I cannot connect to WiFi at home.  My wife has the same phone, we bought them the same day 9 months ago.  She has not updated her phone and she gets great WiFi at our house.  What did the update do to my phone??  How do I get back on my WiFi??  I'm not updating my wife's phone until this is all fixed.

    Hi, bsixK.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router can correct the issue that you are experiencing.  However, the issue could be a little more complex.  Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology.  As the issue has been isolated to your home and school network, I have included two articles.  The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting regarding iOS device connection.  The second article cover the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.

  • IPhone 5S won't connect to wifi after downloading iOS 7.0.1

I bought the iPhone 5S this morning and restored from the previous backup of iOS 7. Everything went fine after it almost immediately asks you to log into a wifi network, I typed in the password. As one would naturally expect, I had no issues. Then I downloaded and install the new 7.0.1 iOS. Went through the setup and when the prompt to log into the same network popped up, I typed in the same password but this time I get an "Incorrect Password" for my network. I'm literally copy/pasting it and typing it in slowly but no success.
VERY annoying considering I JUST bought this product...

I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 update.  Same issue.  I had no issues previously with iOS 6.  So far I've only NOT been able to connect to my home router.....until about 10 minutes ago.   I selected my SSID and chose the option to FORGET the network, restarted my router by unplugging the power supply, let sit for 30 seconds, then re powered it.  Went into my iPhone settings, turned wifi OFF, then turned Bluetooth OFF.  Turned wifi back ON and kept Bluetooth OFF (though there should be no direct correlation) and the router SSID appeared, so I tried my KEY again (WPA2 encryption) and it finally connected.  I would also recommend turning all wifi sync services off just in case, they aren't doing any good without wifi anyway. I really hope this helps. I'm going to update my iPad mini today and see if the same issue comes up and apply the same steps mentioned.  Good luck, even if this doesn't help, I'm sure someone (if not Apple) will help resolve the issue.

  • MacBook Pro won't connect to WiFi after installing a new modem...

WiFi set up fine on the other Mac in the house (MacBook Air) and on my Android phone (using WPS button on modem). I can find the network in the dropdown, but when I enter the password, it says "invalid"—even though it's correct. In the Network portal, I also get an error message saying that there is "no IP address"? Can't set up on iPad either. All used to connect just fine to the old network, just by entering a password. Any thoughts?

Hmmm...yes, there should be, although resetting the modem isn't hard (unless they mean something along the lines of resetting to factory settings). I wonder, tho, if the modem is old enough that something in your new computer is not communicating with it.
Can you connect with an ethernet cable? That might help you figure out if it really is a problem with your modem. You might also check with your internet service provider. I realize not all of them can deal with Macs, but if you rent the modem, they might be able to get you a newer model and if not, they may be able to make a suggestion.

  • My iPad 2 won't connect to wifi after new update

    Hello everyone!
I am a new ipad and mac user and I am on vacation. During my vacation I remotely updated my iPad and ever since I can not connect to the hotels wifi. It is one of those that you have to sign in before being able to do anything on the internet. When you go into settings and select a network it will show a check that it is connected but when you go to safari it will not open the login page. This means I can not check my email or do anything that is essential when I am away from my home town. If anyone can help it would be much appriciated!!!!

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi. (In a hotel, you can't do this.)
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

  • Brand new MacBook Pro won't connect to WiFi after one day.

I got my MBP replaced by Apple on Sunday. I used it a bit that night, and let migration assistant transfer everything over from by backup drive overnight. I used it for a few more hours the next day, no problems. I brought my computer over to my friend's room (we're in a dorm building) and tried to connect to her WiFi. Whenever I try to connect to a network, there's an "!" over the WiFi bars in the status bar, and in Network Preferences, under WiFi, it say "No IP Address."
I am having the same issue in my Windows partition as well, which leads me to suspect this is a hardware issue. I am still able to view WiFi networks. I just cannot connect. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • IPad 2 won't connect to wifi after IOS7 upgrade

I've reset my router, restored my iPad via connecting to iTunes on my laptop, reset my network connections.  Any other solutions for this?

No unfortunately there is no solution. I have this issue too, been into he apple shop twice where they won't admit it's the iOS7 that has caused the problem instead of trying to tell me it's a hardware issue. Because my iPad is more than 12 mths old the wont do anything except sell me a new one at a cost of $279.

  • Having problems connecting to WiFi after Sleep Mode - Lion with most recent updates.

I'm new to Apple and have the new MBP - what a great machine!
So, I updated to Lion and have done all the updates for my OS. As of recent (after an update last week), I am having trouble connecting to the internet after I close my computer (Sleep) or Sleep mode due to inactivity. The only way to connect after said mode is to completely Restart the computer and then my problem is fixed. I've tried searching, but can't find anything. Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thank you

    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked

    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
    3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    6. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    7. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    8. Reset the System Management Controller.
    9. Reset the PRAM.
    10. Reinstall OS X.
Updating to 10.9.2 did the trick. So I thought. Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks!
