IPages and iCloud Drive

Dear Apple,
You have put us between a rock and a hard place. As an iPage user using iCloud I would log in several times a day using both my ipad, work computer, and home personal computer to work on documents. Now I can't access my iPages from the desktop or laptop because it's telling me to upgrade to iCloud Drive. The only problem is, you haven't launched the new OS X Yosemite or iOS 8 which the icloud drive needs to work! Luckily I can still access the docs from my ipad others they would be held hostage until you gave us the new OS which doesn't launch until FALL! So basically, why couldn't you wait to launch icloud Drive until AFTER you launched the new OS? And do you have any solutions for those of us who need to work cross-platform besides completely dumping any use of icloud since it's basically useless now.

Until Yosemite is released iCloud Drive is not going to be fully functional.

  • Anyone having issues sharing a document on Numbers with Yosemite and iCloud drive? I am just getting a connecting to iCloud when I hit share by email but it never does, just keeps spinning

Anyone having issues sharing a document on Numbers with Yosemite and iCloud drive? I am just getting a connecting to iCloud when I hit share by email but it never does, just keeps spinning

Yes, I am having this problem too (although I was sharing via a "copy link" command, not via email). My workaround fix was to log into iCloud.com via Safari and get the share link there.

  • Old version of Numbers document after updating to iOS 8 and iCloud Drive

After updating my iPhone to iOS 8 and activating iCloud Drive, some of my number documents are now just older versions of what they used to be. Does someone know how to convert these documents to their last version?

  • IMovie and iCloud drive

    hello all,
i'm using a 32gb iPad Air and iMovie. Both are up to date. I also have iCloud drive.
My issue is this... When in iMovie I tap iCloud Drive to import video from my iCloud drive the folder opens and I see all my files but without thumbnail images. I tap on the file but nothing happens.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
    thanks.

hi there, the solution to your problem is, i guess, to think that your videos have been moved from iCloud to iCloud Drive, as soon as you updated your iPhone to iCloud Drive. Because of this,  your videos are temporarily not accessible from your computer, neither from your Apple TV.
What kind of computer do you have? I assume you have a Mac.
You can get access to your videos again from your Mac by updating the operating system to OSX Yosemite, which was just released yesterday.
I have an Apple TV too, and I have no access to iMovie theatre, it says "there is a problem with iCloud or with your internet connection", but i think very soon there will be an update for the Apple TV enabling the user to see the videos in iMovie Theatre again, or, they change something on the server side, with the effect of enabling the Apple TV to see the iMovie Theatre videos again.
I already updated to OSX Yosemite on my Mac, and indeed, there are the videos again in iMovie, on the Theatre tab.
There are time gaps between the release of iCloud drive, and the release of the new iOS for iPhone, followed by the release of OSX Yosemite for Mac. These time gaps cause the problem. The world wide service of IMovie Theatre is temporarily interrupted until all devices that have access to this service have been updated. Not the ideal way to deal with customers, but ok, it leads to nice results in the end.

  • Yosemite and iCloud Drive Performance Issue

While on my home network that is connected to the Internet over FiOS 50 G bps, I upgraded my Mac Book Pro Retina from Mavericks to Yosemite.  The upgrade went smoothly.
I first noticed that when I boot my Mac Book, it boots slower like Windows...
When I took it into my office and used a slow WiFi hot spot, the system crawled.  Safari, Google, and other apps barely responded.
During the upgrade, I "blindly" selected to use the iCloud Drive.   Foolish me!   I tried to turn it off, but then it warned me it would delete all documents on my Mac that are also stored on the iCloud.
How do I turn iCloud drive completely off when I don't want to use it and KEEP all my local files???    Later, I'd like to turn it back on when I'm on my faster network and THEN sync everything.
Also, I started turning off specific Apps and rebooted.  Performance has improved.
    Regards,
    Nick

But Is there an option to retain copies of the files that have been stored on iCloud?   I don't want to delete them.   Later, when I connect back to iCloud drive, if I have made any changes on any of these files on my Mac and they are newer than the version up on iCloud drive, it will automatically "sync up".....
    Thanks again,
    Nick

  • User file history and icloud drive

Can user file history be set to automatically store info on my icloud drive?

    Hi,
Generally speaking, Event ID 102 is related with file read and write permission. You can check it and make sure it can be read correctly.
For more information about Event ID 102, you can take the link below as reference:

  • My Numbers and Pages files take lot of time to sync with new ios8 and icloud drive. Why??

ICloud taking ages to sync files. Why is that???

Try creating a new document in the app on your IOS device. After I did that, i.e. a new random spreadsheet in numbers, all of my documents downloaded.

  • 2 user accounts using 1 iCloud drive account, different folders and files for each user.

I have two user accounts on my Mac. One for work and one for personal use.
They both share my iCloud and iCloud drive account. My issue is that when I update the files in my work account the changes do not take place when I log into my personal account on my mac.. I find this strange seeing as I am only using one account for both.
This means when I am working and make folders or rename files and folders they only appear when I view iCloud Drive from that user profile. When I try to view iCloud drive from my personal user account or other iOS devices like my phone the old changes remain.
Has anyone any ideas why this is?

Because iCloud drive is not shared between users.  Each account has it's own storage.  It is NOT shared.

  • Installed iCloud Drive and now can't see files on iCloud. Should I fallback from iCloud Drive to iCloud, or upgrade all my devices to Yosemite & iCloud Drive?

After installing Yosemite & "iCloud Drive" on MacBook Air, I cannot see files previously stored on iCloud.
But I can get to files on iCloud using my Macs still with old operating system (OS X 10.8.5).
I copied all files from both iCloud and iCloud Drive to thumb drives until decide what to do.

You cannot revert back to iCloud after enabling iCloud Drive on your MacBook Air.  If you want to be able to access your documents on all your Macs you'll have to upgrade the others to Yosemite and enable iCloud Drive on them too.

  • Setting up iCloud Drive for a family is a nightmare!

Setting up iCloud Drive for a family is a nightmare!  I have spent the last two hours trying to figure out a smart way to make it work!  First off, even though the name is similar, iCloud Drive seems to be a very different thing than Google Drive or Dropbox.  There is no "sharing" option.  This is what is so frustrating at the moment.
My family has used one main Apple ID for years.  I recently upgraded the iCloud space so my daughter could sync her iPhone to the cloud.  So, I updated to Yosemite and iCloud Drive and REALLY LIKED many aspects of the new system.  However, in order to make many of the new features work, like having the text messages come to the computer, and having the phone calls (which are linked to Facetime) come to the computer I am faced with all kinds of dilemmas.  My wife and I have two Macbooks.  In order for her to get her phone calls forwarded to her Macbook she needs to have her phone number AND e-mail address that's associated with the specific iCloud Account that her computer is logged into.  We have mainly been logging in to the same Apple ID.  In order for her to access her own phone vs. mine she will have to log her computer in to a different Apple ID - but that will also mean a new iCloud Drive.
I think these new features in Yosemite are great - but they are geared towards individual people.  There have been many articles written about how to deal with Apple IDs within a family.  There need to be some updated articles on how to deal with iCloud Drive and a family.  To me it's just way, way too complicated. It seems like it doesn't "just work" anymore.

It will depend on how much data has to be moved to iCloud Drive. 30 minutes is a long time, but not unbelievable.

It's failed. Reboot and try again.

  • Is the iCloud Drive storage space independent of the original iCloud? Do they share space? Can you use them both at the same time?

Does Apple provide 5GB storage with both iCloud and iCloud Drive for a total of 10GB? Or are they shared for a total of 5GB? I am running low on space in my original iCloud (4.7GB used), and would like to move my photos to iCloud drive and stop them from saving in original iCloud, but want to continue to use iCloud for all my other data backups/settings/etc. Thanks!

iCloud Drive is simply a newer version of iCloud (newer set of features) for handling available documents and allowing third party apps access.. Otherwise it is still part of the you overall iCloud service. Unless you choose to pay for additional storage, your total iCloud space is 5 GB.
