IPC Instability

Hello,
We have recently upgraded from EBP 3.0 to SRM 4.0 (SRM Server 5.0).  New to us is the IPC, of which we are using version 4.0, support pack 6.  Periodically (approximately every 7-8 business days) the IPC stops working.  This causes numerous short dumps in our system entitled UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION.  We are running on an IBM P570 server using an AIX level 5.3 operating system.  We have adjusted AIX Java memory parameters, recycled the IPC services for said parameters to take effect, however we are still experiencing the sporadic IPC drop and subsequent dumps.  If anyone has any insight on how to correct this problem and make the IPC more stable, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you kindly,
Kristy Barnes

Hi Karlheinz,
Thank you so much for your reply.  I'll try to explain our situation a little bit better.  We have the IPC installed on the Unix server that is hosting our SRM Server 5.0 Web Application Server (ABAP).  After approximately 9 business days' worth of activity, the IPC just stops working, echoing an "Interpreter Failed" Error message to the end user.  It won't properly function anymore, and the quickest resolution is to stop the IPC services and subsequently restart them again.  Once complete, the users no longer encounter the error I mentioned above.
Thank you for mentioning the OSS note.  We have looked at that one per guidance by SAP, and recently applied the initial Java heap size and maximum Java heap size memory parameters stated in the note.  So far, the IPC has been fine, but it's probably too early to tell.  We currently have a customer message opened with SAP and have established a lot of dialog back and forth regarding the matter.  What I'm trying to find now is the -Xss argument for Java.  I do not see this in any of the IPC files I've checked so far.  I feel that if I allocate a bit more memory here we may be closer to a solution.  The reason I state this is because in those log files you mentioned, I see repeatedly the following error message:
Fatal: Exception : JVMXE018: Insufficient Java stack size
java.lang.StackOverflowError: JVMXE018: Insufficient Java stack size
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to look at my message and respond.  Your input is greatly appreciated!:)
Kind regards,
Kristy Barnes

  • New VMS/IPC boxes - speed and pricing

    For the most part, I've been a very happy FiOS customer. The internet side has gone out exactly once in the year I've had the service, and it was restored within an hour. TV has dropped out twice, both times very late at night (I assume for head-end maintenance). Reliability is better than every other ISP I've ever had, combined.
    That said..
    I wanted to snag another STB for the house - found out the local stores had all been closed (I can understand why from the financial aspect, but it was still a shock pulling up to my old store to pick up another STB.. and finding a "for lease" sign, when I'd been by there 2 months prior), so I looked at options online. The new VMS + IPC boxes looked promising, especially since they added the ability for the entire house to pause, rewind, schedule recordings, etc, from any TV - instead of only the DVR being able to do that (though the old boxes could stream recordings from the DVR).
    My chief complaint so far - while the VMS box itself is responsive, the IPC boxes are painfully slow to respond to anything. Picture quality is fantastic, but using them feels, to put it in nerd terms, like using a Pentium 90 with Windows XP and 128MB RAM. They take 5+ to respond to anything more than a channel change (and even that takes up to 3 seconds), and frequently "lose" remote key presses if you try to, say, hit guide, hit page down, then try to arrow down to the channel that you know is on the next page. It literally feels like a throwback to the earliest digital set top boxes from Comcast/Time Warner - the first ones with built-in TV listings in the mid 1990s. The speed is right on par with them; the only thing faster right now is they don't shut down for 30 minutes a day to update the TV listings.
    I've gone through the built-in diagnostics on the boxes to verify signal levels - they're decent (not perfect, but this is a 20 year old house with mostly original coax), but we have no pixelation or picture drop-out, so I would think they could carry the basic stuff between the IPC boxes and VMS pretty easily. The router certainly has no problem handling the 75/35 on the same coax (speedtest shows 85-90 down, 35-40 up, with a ~5ms ping, no matter which cable outlet it's plugged into)..
    My other complaint - why did Verizon move to "rooms" for pricing? I thought I was getting a DVR plus 3 STBs (since I ordered 3 STBs and asked for a DVR), instead of a VMS + 2 STBs - and I'm paying much more than I did for the old DVR + 2 STBs.
    With the griping out of the way - is there a reasonable chance that firmware updates will help with the speed of the IPC boxes? Or is there a chance it's a cabling issue? (I have no problem pulling new coax or cat5e, and I can provide signal levels if that'll help) If not, is there any chance of getting the old QIP7232 DVR + QIP7100 box back (and adding another 7100), and switching back to what I was paying before? I know they're a bit antiquated (especially the 7100s), but they were much more responsive, and didn't make me want to throw the STBs through the window. It just seems really rediculous that I'm paying such a large premium (plus the "upgrade fee") for equipment that, in terms of the user experience, is much worse.
    Again.. been a happy customer for a long time, but the new terminals are super painful to use.
    Thanks.

    If this is the case.  I think I will wait till the bugs are worked out
    Question what were you paying before and after for the boxes.   So what was the old DVR + 2 STB's and the new DVR plus 2 stb's
    Trying to get an idea of what you meant by way more.  Most people said same pricing and a small $20 or so upgrade fee

  • Z77A-G45 System Instability

    Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 (BIOS Version E7752IMS V2.4 - I did not update the BIOS, it shipped this way)
    CPU: Intel Core i7-2700K Sandy Bridge
    PSU: CORSAIR HX850 850W
    RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL
    Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
    HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX  (SATA Port 2)
    Optical: ASUS 24X DVD Burner DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS  (SATA Port 3)
    GPU: EVGA 012-P3-1570-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    Main Problem: System Instability.  I've managed to get the OS installed, and was able to eventually get VirusScan, Windows Updates, Chipset drivers, and other drivers installed.  However, this was a painful process, with several BSOD's, program crashes, and other lock-ups.  After doing so, the system is still unstable.
    I also have an SSD I intend to use for acceleration via Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST).  I plan to eventually plug this into SATA Port 1.  But I didn't get that far...
    I am not OC'ing - using Standard Mode.  The only change I made in the BIOS was to switch the SATA Mode to "RAID Mode".  I did this prior to OS installation, per instructions.  And during OS install, I loaded the Intel SATA controller, per instructions.
    OS install was unusually rocky.  First attempt failed.  Second attempt worked, but took longer than it should have.  After installation... crashing, instability, and BSODs.
    Checked Memory a couple times, via Microsoft's memory checking tools.  Also reseated all DIMMs, to no avail.
    After some amount of troubleshooting, I saw that my memory was being reported as: F3-12800CL9-4GBXL DIMMs.  I assume this is correct, and that the "Model" I bought (F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL) just describes the whole package of 4 DIMMs.  However, the one thing that is incorrect is that the timing is reported in the BIOS as 11-11-11-28.  The timing specs on my RAM are 9-9-9-24.  Overriding this in the BIOS to those numbers (for TCL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS) did not make any difference.  Instability continued.  The memory speed and voltage seems to have been set properly to 1600/1.5V.
    The other thing to note here is that I just bought the MSI Z77A-G45 to replace an ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3, which was experiencing the same (but less frequent) instability.  I've been using it for a couple months, and decided to try my luck with a different motherboard.  Only this one is worse.  The only components that were reused were the CPU and RAM (and optical drive, PSU, and Case, if that matters), and the only other thing in common was that I had both set up in RAID Mode.
    Thoughts on how I should proceed?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Todd

    Quote from: PiranhaTodd on 28-June-12, 15:07:06
    Regarding the memory speed, I'm confused.  The maufacturer site (gskill.com/products.php?index=349) says:
    CAS Latency   9-9-9-24-2N
    Speed   DDR3-1600 (PC3 12800)
    Also just to confirm, to change the timing, I assume I change this in the BIOS, under DRAM Timing Mode, switch to "Link" (from "Auto"), correct?  And when I do this, it enables the "Advanced DRAM Configuration" section.  If I double-click that, I can specify 9-9-9-24 (for tCL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS).  Former values were 11-11-11-28.  I assume I leave all other fields at "Auto"?  What is the "-2N" in the CAS Latency description on the GSkill site?
    Here is the reason:
    They are real DDR3-1600, but that means CAS = 11 @ 1.5V
    Their XMP profile is buggy (in fact that's the DDR3-1333 profile).
    For 1600MHz with CAS = 9, they need 1.60-1.65V

  • IPC/VC: Knowledgebase/KB of ECC is not shown in CRM

    Hi,
    we would like to use the Variant Configuration in CRM.
    Today we are using already the IPC in a standalone environment with an external system (IPC 5.0, the external system is using the IPC in the Java environment of ERP). From the same ECC System we would like to download now the knowledge bases to reuse them in CRM 7.0. All knowledge bases and runtime environments are already available. When I download the object SCE (with certain filters), I can see all those entries in table COMM_CFGKB in CRM.
    Anyhow, when checking the material in CRM (e.g. commpr01 or WebUI), no knowledge base is shown!
    The table COMM_CFGKB has exactly the same entries as ECC (Active = T, KB Usage 10, KBOBJNAME and Version filled etc.), but anyhow it is not shown at all in CRM. As these knowledge bases are very huge, I have tested also a very small and easy one. This one is getting downloaded the same way and has the same entries in table COMM_CFGKB and it is also visible in commpr01.
    So my assumption is that the other KBs are not 100% correct. When checking them in ECC (cu36) I get many warnings and errors. Anyhow, they were downloaded to CRM (but won`t be shown). Business says that these warnings/errors are OK and that the external system which uses the IPC in ECC is not having any problems.
    Question: is there any chance of using a KB in CRM which has warning/errors when it was generated in ECC?
    Is there any chance of manipulating the KB before it gets imported into CRM. I have found Note 1044682 which explains a BADI.
    Which tables/fields do we have to manipulate so we are able to use the KB in CRM.
    As mentioned: business is aware of those errors and excepts that there might be a crash in the IPC for certain combinations.
    Thx
    Guido

    Hi Christophe,
    OK, I think I understand your suggestion: you use the same IPC with your CRM as well as with the ECC system. So in CRM you just maintain the URL and a user in XCM to the "same" IPC. You mentioned that we need to download anyway the SCE. This is somehow logical as this is the base connected to CRM, but what is not clear to me is the fact, that if the SCE KB is used via ECC all SAP R/3 fields are available (like VBTYPE of the sales order where you have values like B or C). In CRM we use the same SCE KB but here these fields are not availble as the sales order transaction customizing in CRM does not contain such a field.  Where is the logical link between the values which are available in IPC and the SCE?
    Thx
    Guido

  • IPC CRM 7.0 Requirements

    Hi Experts,
    Scenario: I have a pricing procedure with 20 condition types. 5 of them have a requirements assigned.
    If the Requirement returns false, the condition type would not be applicable.
    If the Requirement returns true, the condition type is valid.
    I tried to enhance the IPC according to the known manual.
    I created a new item related z-field in the item communication structure which I fill in the BadI IF_EX_CRM_COND_COM_BADI and update the z-field
    IF cs_acs_i_com-zfield IS INITIAL.
    cs_acs_i_com-zfield = zrate.
    endif.
    I use this requirement in my pricing procedure and uploaded the jar file. My java code looks as follows:
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.finding.userexit.RequirementAdapter;
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.customizing.IAccess;
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.customizing.IStep;
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.finding.userexit.IConditionFindingManagerUserExit;
    import com.sap.spe.base.logging.UserexitLogger;
    public class ZLP extends RequirementAdapter {
    private static UserexitLogger userexitlogger =
    new UserexitLogger(ZLP.class);
    public boolean checkRequirement(IConditionFindingManagerUserExit item,
    IStep step, IAccess access) {
    String zfield = item.getAttributeValue("ZFIELD");
    userexitlogger.writeLogDebug("ZFIELD: "
    + zfield );
    if (zfield != null and zfield.length>0){
    return true;
    }else
    { return false;
    Does anybody has an idea, if we can get the condition type being processed by the java code?
    How do I set the values of the 5 condition types in the BADI? I know I can add 5 fields to the field catalog and populate accordingly, and if I know which condition type is being executed in the java code, I can return true/false accordingly for each condition type.
    Is there a better way of achieving the abovet?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Sunil,
    As I understand, as there is an object for accessing item specific details as you have mentioned "item.**method()", similarly the details of current condition type can also be accessed using the object "Condition.**method()". You can check the methods associated with the object "condition".
    Hope this helps.

  • IPC in CRM 7.0: New customer field in item communication structure

    Hi Experts,
    I tried to enhance the IPC according to the known manual.
    I created a new item related z-field in the item communication structure which I fill in the BadI IF_EX_CRM_COND_COM_BADI with a Char(1) value:
        IF cs_acs_i_com-zfield IS INITIAL.
          LOOP AT ls_prc_agrmnts_wrk-price_agreements_crm ASSIGNING <price>.
            CASE <price>-kschl.
              WHEN 'ZFRE'.
                cs_acs_i_com-zfield = 'B'.
    I also did the customizing for that new formula which is a requirement. There I added two attributes to the implementation:
    -ITEM_GUID     Item GUID
    -ZFIELD     Z-Field
    and also two attributes to the formula:
    -ITEM_GUID     CRM_ITEM_GUID
    -ZFIELD     ZFIELD
    I use this requirement in my pricing procedure and uploaded the jar file. My java code looks as follows:
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.finding.userexit.RequirementAdapter;
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.customizing.IAccess;
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.customizing.IStep;
    import com.sap.spe.condmgnt.finding.userexit.IConditionFindingManagerUserExit;
    import com.sap.spe.base.logging.UserexitLogger;
    public class ZFreiStBLP extends RequirementAdapter {
         private static UserexitLogger userexitlogger =
              new UserexitLogger(ZFreiStBLP.class);
         public boolean checkRequirement(IConditionFindingManagerUserExit item,
                   IStep step, IAccess access) {
              String item_guid = item.getAttributeValue("ITEM_GUID");
              userexitlogger.writeLogDebug("Item: "
                        + item_guid);
                   String zfield = item.getAttributeValue("ZFIELD");
                   userexitlogger.writeLogDebug("ZFIELD: "
                             + zfield );
                   if (pauschale != "B"){
                        return pauschale.equals("");
                        }else
                        {     return pauschale.equals("X");
    In SM53 i can see the logs, but the problem is that obviously only the standard field ITEM_GUID is available in the Java. Means, that for my z-field I never get a value although the BadI is called an the value is written to the communication structure.
    Does anybody has an idea, why I do not get the value of that zfield in my java code?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Mireille

    Hello Vinod,
    I have customised complete pricing procedure but in the Quotation order we are not getting NET VALUE.
    When i come accrossed with BBP_CHECK_CND_CUST In my findings i found parameter IPC_ON is missing.
    I am waiting for the reply from BASIS.
    Is there any functional customisation required for IPC let me know.

  • IPC in CRM 7.0

    Hi Friends,
    Currently we are on CRM 5.0, and here we use IPC which sits on the Java Stack. Now we are planning to upgrade to CRM 7.0 which has IPC as part of ABAP stack.
    What happens to the IPC related data on CRM 5.0 which is on Java Stack when we move to CRM 7.0 ABAP Stack. How do we move this to the upgraded version.

  • CRM 7.0 IPC installation folder

    Hi Experts,
    We are facing the problem in CRM 7.0 here.
    Firstly, our CRM is integrated with ECC6.0, and the pricing will be maintained in ECC only then download to CRM. In the ECC pricing procedure, standard routines and 900 customized routine is used which can't transport to CRM. As demonstrated in SAP help, also not all standard ECC routine is available in CRM, we need to check the mapping in file "CRMStandardExits.java.txt" in the subdirectory "lib\userexits" of the IPC installation.
    For my understanding is for CRM 7.0, IPC is already installed, and it will be activated via the VMC activation. But I can't find any file or folder in our CRM server regarding the IPC installation. Can any one let me know, where the folder is, or what I did wrong for install a IPC?
    Rgs, Michelle

    Hi Michelle,
    the file you are referring to is outdated and is only available for IPC release 4.0 and earlier. For the new user exit concept for applying user exits on the VMC you might want to chech the user exit implementation guide attached to SAP note 809820. This guide contains also examples for custom user exit implementations.

    Hi Shanto & Sumit,
    Thanks for the inputs.
    as per my understanding of the log
    java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: com.sap.leasing.pricing.tools.LeasingPricingTools: method getPricingConditionByConditionTypeName(Lcom/sap/spe/pricing/transactiondata/userexit/IPricingItemUserExit;Ljava/lang/String;)Lcom/sap/spe/pricing/transa ctiondata/IPricingCondition; used to be stati
    error is thrown by the SAP standard user exit and because of which execution is failing in customer user exits and surprisingly we have not made any changes in both of them.
    this was working earlier before upload.could this be because of the jar packaging.
    how i can download the standard user exit com.sap.leasing.pricing.tools.LeasingPricingTools from crm
    for further investigation.
    Thanks,

  • AP 7.00 IPC VMC Log Error UnsupportedClassVersionError

    Greetings all!
    I've converted our IPC 4.0 java routines in preparation for our CRM 7.0 upgrade.
    I've uploaded the new JAR file, and configured the new routines in the /SAPCND/UEASS transaction, and finally cleared the IPC buffer.
    When we enter an order the result is an error in the IPC stating my routine has an UnsupportedClassVersionError and trhrows the following error in the VMC logs:
    Execution of function module SPC_CREATE_DOCUMENT failed
    --> java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/osi/pricing/userexits/value/ZValue606 (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)
    Any thoughts on what the problem is here?
    Regards,
    Tim

    Check the compiler (Java) version of the developer. Got to match the VMC allowed versions.
    Tip: Though Eclipse may require latest version to run, it can still compile and generate Class files with any Java version you require. Got to configure Eclipse.

  • IPC 7.0

    Hi gurus
    Is there any document for installing IPC 7.0 in an SRM7.0 environment?
    We have followed SAP Note 880749, we are on the latest SP.
    But I guess something is still missing. Do we need for example to set up RFC connections for the IPC?
    When checking in customizing under Check Technical and Customizing Settings for Conditions, Further checks "Simulation of Pricing with Manual Price" we are getting the following error message:
    Incorrect status in pricing
    Message no. BBP_PD365
    Diagnosis
    In FORM CREATE_PRICING_DOCUMENT (function group SAPLBBP_PDPRC), an inconsistent status was discovered.
    Procedure
    Start the transaction again. If the error occurs again, create an OSS message.
    To analyze the error, you can set a breakpoint in the function module 'BBP_PD_ABORT' and look at the call-up hierarchy in debugging mode.
    Thanks for your support
    Ezequiel

    After restarting the server it started to work. The solution was to apply the latest SP.

    I've read elsewhere that you can't directly subscribe to a podcast on a iPad, that you have to subscribe to a podcast in iTunes on a Mac or PC and then new episodes will be transferred to your iPad when you sync it.  Is that true?
