IPCU 3.4.0.283 for Windows - WiFi proxy setting

iPCU 3.4.0.283 is able to specify WiFi proxy setting but this proxy setting is not set up on the iphone, only SSID and authentication is preserved. Is it bug in iPCU or in iOS 5 when profile is not fully read and set in the device ?
We need at the moment manualy add proxy setting on the device despite the fact that it is specified in configuration in iPCU.
thank for helo solving the issue.

same problem here. If the device is iOS 5, I can see the proxy settings in the device UI but they have no effect (they do nothing). If the device is iOS 4, I cannot even see the proxy settings. I am using a Mac for creating the profile. I have submitted a bug about this. I am waiting for the next IPCU version hoping it will solve the problem.

  • About the system wide wifi proxy setting

I'm currently using BlackBerry Q10, and I love it, just for you know, I turn from iPhone5 to it.
As I'm using it mostly inside China, the network connecttion is so bad, I need use proxy for accessing Google or Twitter service, so the wifi's proxy is very important to me.
But I found inside my Q10 system, the wifi proxy setting in fact is not globally effect, it works when open browser, but when I try to add my Gmail account or twitter account, it can't go with my proxy setting. That too bad.
is there any special setting to make it works, this is really importent to me
    Thanks!

  • Apple Software Update for Windows and Proxy servers

I try to run Apple Software Update that just got installed in Windows, but it is unable to locate the server and immediately quits. I know I have to go through a proxy server here in work, but I never get the opportunity to enter the proxy information and cannot get to the menus in the Apple Software Updater for Windows to see if I even have the option to enter Proxy information. How am I supposed to get this to work?

    Hmmmmm.
Try checking the rules in your firewall software. Is Apple Software Update being allowed full access to the internet?

  • QuickTime For Windows Behind Proxy

I am tech support at my company. All the computers on the network can get streaming video but for some reason active QuickTime content fails to run. A quick example of this would be the file that loads when you run Quicktime by itself. It will ask for a proxy user and password and then nothing loads.
The reason this came up was that we have someone that needs to view some training videos from vtc.com. They use QuickTime but instead of the standard plugin controls they wrote their own control overlay. Most of the time the controls come up but the video fails to load. Sometimes it actually crashes the browser.
I tried downgrading to QT 6 with no luck. None of the different proxy settings would get a good connection to Apple's start content.
I'm out of my own ideas as to why this is happening.
To complicate things my computer loads all the previously mentioned content just fine. There are no settings that I can find that make my computer unique. I've assigned my IP address statically to another computer just to rule out the possibility that my IP is being given special permissions. Nothing seems to work to get other computers to load active QuickTime content. And I haven't been able to get my computer to not get that stuff.
Just thought I'd ask and find out if anyone could give me any ideas on what is going on here. It's not really that important to me but the woman who wants to view the videos is really pulling her hair out.

When you get this fatal error uninstalling, try a full removal of iTunes and related programs with an installer clean up of any that do not uninstall cleanly:
    Here is a method:
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • BT Cloud for Windows over Proxy

    Hi!
I've downloaded the BT Cloud Sync application to my PC but I work behind a proxy. Dropbox has configuration settings to configure the proxy host, port and authentication: I cannot find similar settings in the BT Cloud Sync application.
Is there a way to configure BT Cloud Sync to work with a proxy server?
    Many thanks!
    mroshaw

    Hi
Usually you could install it over the old BT stack.
But if you would receive an notification that an old BT stack must be removed firstly, then remove it and then install the new one.
    By the way:
This Toshiba BT portal is really useful and helpful. It contains a lot o FAQs which could be interesting for you.

  • PGP Whole disk Encryption but for Windows Partition only ?

    Hi,
Slightly unusual situation here. I want to use my MacBook Pro at work and home. OSX at home and XP at work. Now at work they have a strict policy of only allowing computers on the network with PGP Whole disk Encryption. I've looked into this and there doesn't appear to be a way of setting this up via bootcamp because PGP makes use of MBR which as far as I know bootcamp doesn't use and PGP themselves say bootcamp isn't supported.
Looking around the web there are various articles about tripple/quad booting Mac systems not using bootcamp but things such as Grub or reFIT. I'm wondering if there is a way of using this boot technique but using the partition option when installing PGP for windows and only setting it up on the defined windows partition.
Has anybody tried this or have alternatives ?
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

    Hi Steve:
Windows has a boot manager built in. Windows can be installed on a logical NTFS partition, the boot
manager can sit on a tiny fat or fat32 primary partition. I have used this arrangement on my PC's
many times. I have not tried it on a Mac, but it should work. You will need to have some working
knowledge of partitioning to pull it off.
I don't know how PGP designed their software, but it should support this arrangement, unless they
have some cheesy engineering design built into their software that would prevent it from working.
The windows boot manager has been with NT from the beginning. It is not rocket science, NTLDR
sits in the usual spot reserved for system boot files, the boot ini file tells NTLDR what partition
the /windows/system32/ntoskrnl.exe is on and NTLDR passes the ball to ntoskrnl and away
she goes if everything is Kosher. Windows boot manager can boot other OS's as well.
Be aware though that windows may assign a drive letter to the windows installation other than
"c" (usually "d" of "f". That doesn't keep anything from working though.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad 8 Wifi driver for Windows 10?

I've installed Windows 10 Technical Preview on my Lenovo Thinkpad 8. It's been working pretty nicely, except for one thing: the Broadcom Wifi card driver (Broadcom BCM4324 Wireless LAN Driver). Since this doesn't work I have to use a USB antenna.
This driver has gotten no update since the release of the Thinkpad 8! I tried running it in "Windows 8 compatibiliy mode" and that still doen't work. Does anŷone know of a possible way to make it work (either with an update, or an older driver in compatibility mode)? Any idea or suggestion (or word from Broadcom) is welcome!

I had the same problem and installed the Win 8.1 version of the driver.
First deinstall the microsoft driver, download the driver from http://support.lenovo.com/<xx>/<xx>/products/tablets/thinkpad-tablet-series/thinkpad-8/?tabName=Down...
replace <xx> by your language code. eg. en (my language code was de)
look for Broadcom BCM4324 Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit) - ThinkPad 8 or (64-bit in case)
Start the installer and you're done.

  • I bought a Macbook pro for my wife.  Video is typically pathetic compared to Windows.

Video playback doesn't come close to Windows performance.  I am regretting not buying a windows machine for half the cost but,  I was tired of fielding occasional but steady questions on how to fix her windows laptop.  The Mac adhearants at work said this was the way to go.   My IT guys, advised against it.  Our IT will not support MAC but they will work on our PC's if we take them in.
This machine is ok but the video playback is awful and usually unworkable.   The video is choppy.  Constantly tries to buffer? and is unuseable.  The desktops and windows laptop work flawlessly.  Still getting the calls but I have to tell her to use her ancient laptop.  One of my cohorts indicates it is typical of macs.  He, however,  despises Apple machines and after a month, I am getting that way as well.
Do others have this and live with it or is this machine defective?  If that's the way it is, I need to get rid of it for something better.  Do I have to drive this machine in to their expert center to have it looked at?  I don't use it but I need the thing to work for my wife.  2200 dollars for someting that has difficulty with youtube is unacceptable.

It's not just you tube.  It's other videos that become available on typically news sites.  If it is a longer program, we have to dust off the Windows laptop or the desktop which work fine.  Apple says it's our internet connection speed,  My service is fiber and 18 k or m...I don't know which but it's not slow and other computers, including Ipads work.  The macintosh notebook just ***** at this.  Do I opt in or out of that html 5. I'm not sure what i'm looking at or for.

  • IPCU for windows- proxy authentication profile not applied on ipad

    Dear All,
We are using iPCU 2.2 on a windows for configuring ipad.
We have configured a payload for a Wi-Fi network with these proxy settings :
    - manual
    - hostname
    - port
    - authentication : login & password.
The problem is that the proxy settings are applied on the iPad except the authentication settings.
Looking at the installed profile on the iPad, the authentication is on "OFF" whereas it should be on "ON" with the login and password from the profile.
It is bug for IPCU, Please update IPCU to remove bug as soon as possible
    Thanks
    Amit

Amit, we can feel your pain.  This issue has been described in several  other forum threads since the newest version (3.4) of IPCU for Windows was released.  My understanding is that it has been reported to Apple Engineering.  A posted thread on this forum will not typically come to Apple's attention.  You might try going to this location

  • T60 WLAN COMPLETELY GONE after installing latest Update Intel Wireless WiFi Link for Windows XP

I just reinstalled a T60 from scratch TWICE  to the point of updating  - Intel Wireless Wifi Link for Windows XP -
Just after that very latest Update (3.1.1.1 or so?)  there is no WLAN possible and I had to find out, that  a system restore is impossible either! (Simply does not work and asks me to get another point and try again)
I have a full backup done by acronis 2010 so that does not bother me so very much.
The point is that I like to WARN everybody to install that Update to their T60  e.g. 2008YWJ !!!
    (contains 3945AGB WLAN Module!)
After Updating U HAVE NO CHANCE TO REPAIR IT! U get always the problem signature
    szAppName: AcSvc.exe  szAppVer: 5.6.1.33  szModName: PfMgrApi.dll
    szModVer : 13.0.0.2  offset: 000d4912
and the System wants to report that stuff to MicroSoft...again and again...every time u
    start AccessConnections.
U can DEinstall AccessConnections and Intel Wireless Wifi Link for XP completely, reboot
and REinstall it....just 2 get the same messages and NO WLAN anymore.
I could not get out of this Driver Installation Hell until I did a complete Recovery Install and
I got back to Hell when System Update REinstalled Intel Wireless WiFi Link for XP
    automagically...;-(((
And again NO CHANCE to roll back, No chance to get rid of that annoying bug. This time I have an ACRONIS-Image so I can spare some time....
Somebody shoud really CHECK this, because it should not be possible to break down an completely NICE RUNNING Thinkpad THIS WAY just by updating it! As it took me abaout 12 Hours of Administration by now I
really would apreciate to help whomever to find out what the hell is responsible 4 this !!!
Why is XP System Restore not working on an T60 to roll back to Point b4 installation of this Update???
(I could  not use that Thinkvantage-System Recovery because it did not even get all its updates by the
time the system went in limbo during install! What i defintely can say is that it breaks at exactely
same point when Intel Wifi Updates is installed...
I do my Acronis Restore now and try 2 avoid this Update....;-(
if anybody KNOWS how to get that system 2 an earlier point of an install orgy i whould be thankful to get that information...
    I am keeping alive 12 Thinkpads here R40 R50 T42 T43 T60 T61p T400 T500 and  NEVER
experienced problems like this in many  years!
    cheers
        GAL9000

    gal9000, welcome to the forum,
have you tried running windows system restore from safe mode? It usually works then because some anti-virus softwares will prevent it from running successfully from "normal" windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Skype WiFi for Windows Phone

How do I download Skype WiFi on my Windows phone, when I tap download Skype Wifi from my Windows phone it goes to https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/skype-wifi/id444529922?mt=8

2014-08-04. Yesterday i was in great need of Skype WIFI on Heathrow. But no! Microsoft/Skype still don't have Skype wifi for Windows Phone but has it for all competing mobile platforms! How does that make sense? If MS won't support Windows Phone, who will??
Maybe it is as it should be? I had this discussion with a gentleman that was sincerely convinced, there has been a major policy change at Microsoft HQ regarding Skype. He belived the buy of Skype insyead really was a kind of a hostile buy, in order to close Skype as it it is shaped today, instead in a future introduce a new type of coomunication programme similar to Skype, but totally different and more profitable and when launched a closure/abandoment of Skype will be done.
I don't know, but it was a really well suited gentleman...

  • Wifi Mouse Driver update for Windows 8

Hi, I upgraded to windows 8 and now of course my WiFi mobile mouse does not work. I assumed that a driver would be provided soon after Windows 8 release, but none have been, as it appears forthcoming. Should I sell my WiFi mouse or do I wait for the drivers? I know SoftAP is available in Windows 8, so what's the hold up?

Good morning, HP does not sypply any driver and based on the following link it's specially designed for Windows 7:   http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF06c/A1-329290-69998-329251-329251-5059444-5095508.html But, you may try the following option from Microsoft: a.       Right click on the setup file of and select “Properties”.b.      Select “Compatibility” Tab.c.       Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select Windows 7 from the drop down list.d.      Let the program install and then check the functionality. Good luck.ps. 7:10AM Monday my time now
