Ipfilter use in zones?

I've been mucking around with b69, and it does not appear that there is ipfilter support within a zone. Is this correct?
Thanks,
-chris

It depends on what you want to do:
If you want to filter traffic between the zones and the rest of the network, you can configure IPfilter in the global zone using rules based on the zone's IP address.
If you want to filter traffic between the zones themselves, then it's not currently possible with IPfilter. Alternatives are:
1) special routes to block all traffic between zones (look for "-reject" in the zones admin guide)
2) TCP wrappers to filter requests to inetd/RPC services based on the zone's IP address.

  • Oracle 11.2.0.3 upgrade running on Solaris 10 using zfs/zones

    Hello,
We currently run solaris 10 using zfs/zones.
We have a global zone and several sparse root zones.
The oracle upgrade (from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3) prerequiste check is reporting the following warnings:
OS kernel parameter "tcp_smallest_anon_port" plus 3 other warnings for tcp_largest_anon_port and for the udp ports as well
This requires that we use ndd to change the values for these ports in the global zone.
These changes will affect all of the sparse root zones and not just the one we are upgrading Oracle in.
Will this pose any problems or is safe to make these port changes in the global zone.
    Thanks

I want to use security zone in WebDynpro for java like PDK.
    Is it possible?
if possible, plz explain detail how to use security zone.

    Hi,
You can locate the <i>portalapp.xml</i> file for a WD project inside the <i>gen_wdp</i> folder. Check if you can add the <i><component-config></i> tag and others in the <i><webdynpro></i> section of the file.

  • How to use time zone settings with calendar events ??

After looking through the questions on time zones and synchronization, I still cannot get my Palm Centro to operate the way I think it should.
I have a Verizon Centro, am using Windows XP with Outlook, and synching via the Hotsync manager 7.02 over a USB cable.  I am not using Palm Desktop.
I am expecting events to shift time in the calendar when I change the time zone, but they do not.
I am preparing for a trip.  I enter several test events into MS Outlook placing the events to occur in a different time zone into my calendar at the time the event would occur in my home time zone (NY).   For example, a meeting from 9-10 AM in Los Angeles is put in my MS outlook calendar as 12-1 PM on the day of the meeting.  Then I sync, with the time zone of my Centro and Outlook set for New York.  The Centro is set to update Date, Time, Zone automatically from the network in New York. The meeting event appears as 12-1 PM on the correct day.
Then I turn off the Centro phone (ie disconnect from the Verizon network), change the time update to "Nothing" -- ie entirely manual, change the time zone to Los Angeles and set  the time to the correct time in Los Angeles.   I expect the meeting to shift to 9-10 AM in my Centro calendar, but it does not !!!!!  I try other combinations -- Leave the time update on Date and Time automatic, and change the time zone to Los Angeles, etc.  I think I tried all the combinations.  Throughout, I leave the Centro phone off of the Verizon network.  I cannot get the meeting to change its time in the new time zone.
What is the trick ??? What did I miss ??
You might ask why I am trying this with the phone turned off -- that is because I am really going much farther than LA, and into a GSM network where I will simply use the Centro as a PDA.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks for the response.
Indeed my preference was not set "new events use time zones".
Meanwhile, I had loaded all the applointments from Outlook, about 20 of them,
figuring I would just move them manually en route.
I will play with the time zone preference, but,
is there any way to identify the existing appointments in the
Palm as belonging to a different time zone, just using the Palm Centro ?
    Thanks,

  • How does one use 'drop zones' in DVD menus?

    Hi
I have Premiere Elements 4.0. How does one use 'drop zones' in DVD menus?
    Thanks
    NBK

There are a number of ways, but the easiest is to swap in your video the way you swap in a DVD background -- i.e., select a menu with a drop zone and, in the DVD menus area, click on the background of the menu in the Disc Layout monitor. This will open up a screen that will allow you to browse to the video or still you want.
Once it's in place, hold down the Shift key and, grabbing a corner handle on the Disc Layout monitor, size the image and drag it to position it in the drop zone.

  • Rebel xti...all pics using creative zone modes (P, Tv, Av, M) have a blue hue. Basic zone is good

Rebel xti problem...all pictures taken using any creative zone modes (P, Tv, Av, M) have a blue hue.  All pics using basic zone modes (portrait, landscape, etc) are great.  must be a setting somewhere...please advise...thanks...tom

    Check your White Balance.
Basic Zone use Auto White Balance. Creative Zone use whatever you set. If you get Blue cast, then it must be set to Fluorescent or Incandescent.

  • New iMac won't let me use Image Zone

I have an iMac running OS X 10.9.4.
I've always used HP Image Zone with my old but still-going-strong Photosmart 3210 printer/scanner, particularly to edit my photos.
Although the Mac is quite happy to talk to the printer, and print and scan, it will not install Image Zone because it says "Power PC applications are no longer supported".
Is there a fix for this? A new App or plug-in maybe?
The available downloads I've tried don't do the trick, and I really can't get on with iPhoto.

I noticed your post about not being able to use Image Zone with your OS X 10.9.4. After checking into this for you, there is no full software available on Mavericks for the Photosmart 3210.

  • RANT! : still no resize option when using drop zones!

Picture this: you drop a photo into a drop zone. But it's a little too big, and doesn't fit well. So, in a perfect world, you right-mouse-click, say resize, and some handles come up and you can resize on the fly.
I really don't understand why this option isn't in yet. It seems so obvious and usefull.
Really... sometimes the software is too simple for it's own good!!! grrr...

There is a way around this.
In iPhoto, crop the image to a more suitable width, but make the crop higher than it is wider (keep the full height).
Now, when you drop the cropped photo on a drop zone you can at least move it up or down.
I do it all the time, or I deliberately take and/or use vertical photos.

  • Using drop zones

I have a template from motion that I exported to generators in fcp x. When I drag to the timeline I can't seem to drop my videos into the drop zones. I used to be able to select the drop zone in the inspector but for some reason I can't find that option anymore. Did I somehow disable the dropzones? or am I looking in the wrong place?
    please help,
    Brian

    Koen
That worked well for me, once I found the menu. It is an auto hide menu to the right of the "To" button in the Image tab. Once you have published a zone, you can also "Unpublish" is as you can see from the screen grab.
One other thing. You can select Layers, and then the top layer "Project", and in the inspector, it will show you everything that you have published.
Thanks for sorting that one out for me Koen, saved me lots of re work

  • HP Photosmart 335 print distortion on using Image Zone Express

Using HP Image Zone Express (the packaged software):
When I select a photo to print in the VIEW area I see a correctly proportioned picture.
When I press the PRINT tab the photo appears on the PRINT screen but it does not (and noticeably so) have the same print proportions as on the previous screen. The picture's length (height) increases in proportion to its width by an amount that makes a face in the picture appear thinner than it really is, .
This would not normally be a problem except that when I print the picture, the resulting print also shows these wrong proportions!
When I use Photoshop to print via this printer, the proportions are correct but the print quality is inferior.
Among the actions I have performed to try and solve this problem are:
I have checked and found that my printer drivers are up-to-date.
I have tried putting all settings back to their defaults.
I have restarted the printer, the software and the computer (I have not re-installed anything).
I have tried printing smaller images than the paper size (10x15cm) with the same result. Strangely, when I do this, the printer tells me that the image is larger than the paper and some cropping will occur!
An additional defect that possibly has nothing to do with the "proportions" problem is: The print "centering" (on the page) function does not seem to work at all.
Any ideas or help with this proportions problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • Selections using "Selection Zones" & "Protection Zones"

Selection Zones allow you to make a selection and then refine your selection even further from what you've already selected.
Protection Zones exclude areas that you do not want to be used in a selection. A Protection Zone is the area outside a Selection Zone and vice versa.
Here are some examples of how you could use them:
Problem: I'm using the magic wand and I want to make a selection of the sky which ranges from a very light blue to a much darker blue. However, there is color fringing in the trees that make the branches a darker blue, too. I begin by selecing the light blue in the sky, which includes all those litte "holes" between the leaves, branches, and those tricky dark blue branches. But, when I go to select the darker blue portion of the sky, the dark blue branches are also selected ruining the previous work. This cannot be done with 2 separate selections then merging them because you end up with the same problem.
New Feature "Protection Zone": PROTECT the original selection by drawing a "Protection Zone" around the originally selected area so that the dark blue branches are  also protected against being selected. The "Protection Zone" could also be a previous selection (but not in this case).
This feature can be used after you make an initial selection to protect it. Or, you can make a "Protected Selection" right off the bat to exclude a certain area from future selections.
With this feature, you would solve our original problem by first making the selection of the light sky. Draw a rough Protection Zone around the area of the selection that includes the dark blue branches. Then, make 2nd selection using magic wand of the darker sky to add it.
A very simply example would be if you had a handful of blue flowers in the prairie that you wanted to select, but there is a blue sky above of a similar tone. You would first draw a rough protection zone around the sky to exclude it from the selection and then move ahead with a selection the flowers with the magic wand.
New Feature "Selection Zone": When you create a selection zone, anything within the zone is fair game. Anything outside of the zone is excluded or protected (the Protecion Zone).
So, in the last example, we had only one type of blue flower. But, what if there were two species of blue flowers and you only wanted to select the blue in one of them? You could simply draw rough selections around the flowers of the species that you want to change (using Shift-Click to add several selections). Then, convert this rough selection into a Selection Zone. Then, you can use the Magic Wand tool to select only those tones within the Selection Zone.
Now, let's say that you had a situation where you got really really close to the selection you wanted, but the selection you ended up with in the Selection Zone with the Magic Wand tool needs further refining. For instance, within the Selection Zone there are some unwanted blues in some wet leaves that reflect the blue sky that were selected. So, you would now redraw a new winding and turning Selection Zone around the current Magic Wand selection that would exclude those blue leaves. And, you'd end up with only the blues selected in the flowers that remain from the Magic Wand selection. In this case, you have a very fast way of deselecting certain things.
    HIERARCHICAL SELECTIONS:
Essentially, you can make a selection, convert that selection into a Selection Zone, and then refine the selection even more within the Selection Zone. You can repeat as often as you wish.
This makes for a very nice way for refining selections in a kind of hierarchical manner as if you wanted to refine the results of a search. You'd do a database search and, from those results, do another search.
I've been wanting this feature for many years.
    Thanks,
          Mike

    Hi Chris,
I know Add & Subtract and I use them frequently. But, are you quite sure that everything I described can be done with Add/Subtract/Intersect (ASI)?
It really does not do the same thing as I'm suggesting. Plus ASI is a pain because you have to deal with masks and selections and it's kind of like jumping through hoops.
My examples may not be perfect, but later on in my description, I talk about hierarchical selections where you make a selection and then you can select with that selection to better refine it. For instance, you'd make a selection (often using Magic Wand or Color Range). Then, you'd convert that selection into a SELECTION ZONE in order to INCLUDE ONLY THE AREA WITHIN THE SELECTION ZONE for future selections. Then, you can make other Magic Wand or Color Range (or any other selection tool) selections within that critical area and nowhere else.
A way to think of it is that you are choosing an area within which you will apply a selection function. You are providing constraints which can be based on simply drawing an initial boundary. Or, you can make a selection and use that initial selection as the boundary. This is much, much different than ASI.
I am working selections all the time. I work with very big files with the hardest kinds of selections that require high precision and natural looks due to the large print sizes. But, I also shoot nature and complex wildflower and prairie shots that also include skies with trees and branches at the boundary--not some smooth mountain and sky transition. That's easy.
In the past, I found a bug with multi-layer TIF files that were losing all their adjustment layers. I sent you a DVD of the files and you fixed them and fixed Photoshop, too. So, I'm usually someone who takes things to the brink and go where few have ventured. Hence, I find bugs and also run into problems that are difficult to solve.
Please let me know if you get where I'm coming from on this.
    Thanks,
          Mike

  • Customising SYSDATE using time-zone offset

    Situation:
A database instance is configured with multiple schemas with each holding data for a company. A set of Oracle Forms and Reports programs has been developed to run against each of these schemas.
However, there are few overseas companies phyiscally located in different time zone with respect to the database location.
Is there a way to "customise" sysdate to generate "adjusted" date/time value using the time zone offset "without changing the programs" (in Forms, Reports and dbms)? Most of the programs use sysdate to populate date-specific fields.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

Sysdate is sysdate-- it can't be changed on a session-by-session basis. You could write your own sysdate-like function, but that would require code changes. If you are making code changes, and you're on 9i, I would suggest using a TIMESTAMP WITH TIMEZONE data type.

  • Set Date & Time Using Time Zone

    Hello everyone,
Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have.
I would like to be able to change the time using the time zones - i.e. when I open date & time and select the time zone I’m in, I want the time to change to reflect where I am. Currently, when I change the time zone, there is no change to the time.
Do you have any suggestions how to get the computer to recognize the change in time zone?
    Thanks.

I should add that if I select the box to set date and time automatically, the computer displays a time completely unrelated to the time zone I've selected - this time does not change depending on the time zone selected.
