IPhone 1.1.4 VPN to Leopard 10.5.3

Has anyone seen and preferably solved the problem of a working VPN for all but iPhone, and an iPhone that completes authorization and then almost instantly disconnects? The "error" in the server log seems to indicate that the "serial link" is or becomes disconnected. This seems to happen only with the iPhone.

  • Jabber for IPhone/IPad and Anyconnect VPN

I have just setup Jabber for iPhone and iPad in a CUCM 8.6/Presence 8.6 enviornment.  Works great when on my wireless network at work.
The problem I have is that it doesn't work with Anyconnect VPN.  Running 8.4 code and can access the CUPS website from the iPhone/iPad when on vpn.  It just will not connect the Jabber clients.  I have attached the logs for review.
There is only one difference in our wireless connectivity and VPN connectivity that I can think of at this point.  Could it be my DHCP configuration not offering option 150 for tftp on the VPN?  I am using a local pool on the ASA but it doesn't offer option 150 for tftp.

It's been a while so I don't recall exactly what I did.  That said: I want to say that I connected it via the wireless network to let it pull down it's configuration and after it pulled down the initial configuration I was good to go on VPN.

  • IPhone not connected not recognized after Leopard install

OK, so all was well with my iPhone and this weekend I installed Leopard, and now my iPhone has only been recognized once by my computer. I plug it in to it's cradle (as always) and no charging happens and it does not show up in iTunes. I have tried both of my available USB ports (no hubs involved) and neither one works, yet my other USB devices work just fine. I tried a new cable, it does not work, and I also plugged in the cable direct to an outlet and my phone charges just fine. All updates are installed. The only way I got it to work that one time was to turn my computer off and then on, but I've tried that this morning and even that does not work. I have no way to sync. Please help me!

    Laura Brown1,
If the iPhone is not seeing power from the USB port, try reseting the iPhone first.
If its still not seeing power, or being seen by the computer, reset the PMU, and then try it again. For some models of Mac the PMU is replaced by a SMC instead.
This article has information about PowerMac G5's with a PMU:

  • Pptp VPN route : Leopard does not set correct netmask

    Hello
Today I switched from a MacOSX 10.4.11 (Tiger) PowerBook to a MacOS 10.5.5 (Leopard) MacBook Pro. I configured my pptp VPN settings with the "Internet Connection Tool" and Network-Settings-panel on Leopard identically as on my Tiger PowerBook (option route all traffic over VPN on both systems disabled).
As far I could connect on the Leopard system to the destination VPN server without any problem, but could only establish a traffic-connection to the VPN server it self. As on my Tiger system the VPN connection worked seamless over several years now I supposed some routing problem.
In fact on the Tiger system the routing table showed me, that the destination network has a 255.255.0.0 network mask and was correctly received and set on the Tiger routing table, but that the Leopard systems assumes a 255.255.255.0 network mask and set this assumption to the its routing table: (destination LAN has address space 10.50.0.0 - 10.50.255.255 / netmask 255.255.0.0)
    Tiger 10.4.11 :
    10.50/16 ppp0 USc 0 0 ppp0
    Leopard 10.5.5 :
    10.50/24 ppp0 USc 0 0 ppp0
In the Leopard vpn setting panel, there is also the possibility to set manually the destination ip-address and netmask, but I found it has no effect on the real setting on Leopard. The only way to set the correct route with the correct netmask is under Leopard to do it by the command shell - first deleting the route set by Leopard and setting a new route with a the correct netmask :
route delete -net 10.50. -interface ppp0
route add -net 10.50. -interface ppp0 -netmask 255.255.0.0
I do not understand, why under Tiger (and also on MacOSX 10.3.X) the pptp VPN worked always correct and set the correct netmask, and now Leopard (MacOSX 10.5.X) does some kind of assumption and is not able to set the correct netmask.
    Any Ideas ?

How did you determine that partial traffic is sent through the VPN?
Basic principles of VPN is to avoid using a common subnet for your client ip pool. Having an uncommon subnet will solve your #2 issue below. Simply change the 3rd octet on your home network from .1 to something else, .11
I have a working pptp server configuration on ubuntu 10 with iphone 3g iOS 4.1 connected, invested hours of research, but only a short time configuring the server and iphone vpn client. passing internet traffic through local gateway/router from work wi-fi and accessing local desktop using windows remote desktop lite app.

  • Windows 7 (Client) map a network drive VPN Snow Leopard Server

    Hi,
I have a Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server and are using a VPN service.
My services on the mac os x sls server are: AFP, DNS, Firewall, Open Directory, SMB and VPN.
I can connect the VPN from Mac clients and Windows 7 clients, but I can only map a network drive/share point on Mac´s.
On Windows 7 I get an error: path or name not found ( I am sure using the correct path, same from Mac client that works).
When I am using my internal network LAN I can map a network drive using Windows 7 and Mac but outside over a VPN not (only Mac works).
The only service, at this moment,  that I need is File Sharing outside my network LAN using a VPN.
How can I map a network drive from a Windows 7 client using a VPN, is there any Firewall rules / SMB rules / File Sharing rules that I missed on the server side?
    Thank You.

I really don't know what are going wrong with my settings. As you said/write it must be an easy setup.
I'm using a Time Capsule and used the Server app to add VPN to the port forwarding also.
When I am connected thru the VPN I tried to ping the Server IP and got no answer from it, from W7 client!?
My Mac's are just working fine with AFP and SMB share points thru the VPN.
I think I have missed some settings from the SMB or Firewall services for VPN with W7 client's or it is a Windows issue.....

  • Synching iCal with iPhone calendar through iTunes on Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I've seen some threads on in similar matters but none of them related to this problem:
I can't seem to sync my iPhone's calender and iCal throught iTunes. I CAN'T sync the two using iCloud, because I'm using Mac with Snow Leopard, which doesn't support iCloud.
I'm using iTunes 11.1.4, and when I go to the info tab on iTunes in order to sync the calenders, there are no options to choose. It simply says: "Your calenders are being synced with your iPhone over the air using iCloud, Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone".
I would rather not upgrade my OS unless I must. I'm using a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.6.8, iTunes 11.1.4 and iPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.4.
    Thank you for your help!
    Daniel

    Hi danielshachar!
It sounds like the settings in your phone may be prompting iTunes to report that your contacts and calendars are being synced through iCloud. Use the information in the following article to adjust this setting so that you can sync your contacts and calendars through iTunes instead:

  • Help!  VPN with Leopard & Leopard server isn't working!

    Hello all,
I have tried (and tried, and tried) to get VPN to work on Leopard server v10.5.1 and I cannot get this to work no matter what I have tried. here is my setup:
    Router:
New Airport Extreme Base station running firmware v7.1.1. I have my server open to the world (for this test)
    Server:
Mac Mini running v10.5.1 server. Both VPN L2TP and PPTP is setup and configured. NAT is NOT turned on, the AEBS is doing DHCP for me (should the server be doing that?).

  • Syncing iPhone 4s without iCloud. Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I just upgraded from the 3g to the 4s and am finding some frustration involved. I went through several 3g's and each time it was a simple matter to plug it into iTunes and all my information synced right over. Most notably, contacts in their entirety, and Safari book marks. When I plug in the 4s it suggests I can do this with iCloud but I'm on Snow Leopard and it appears this trick can only be accomplished with Lion. Right?
I'm more than happy to switch to Lion but I am a student and have some important applications that I haven't determined their ability to perform on LIon. If they don't I would be in hot water at this part of the semester.
Being a student I do a lot of serious research on the internet and make lots of book marks that are nice to have at hand on the iPhone for quick looks. Auto syncing of this is a real plus.
What can I do? As of now I have none of my Safari from MBP on the iPhone and can't see a way to do so.
    Thanks,
    W

if you turned on find my phone when you activaied the phone you can go to www.icloud.com/find your username is your Apple ID. If not ... nothing you can do. you do not need icloud to do this.

  • Need Tiger for iPhone, but will my G4 support Leopard?

I bought my g4 Powerbook in Spring '04. I need to update to at least Tiger for the iPhone, but given that Leopard will be out in a few weeks, I may just wait to get the new OS.
My real question is whether or not my computer will support Leopard. If not, there's no point in waiting. There seems to be little news regarding where Apple will make the cutoff for necessary compatability for old Macs wishing to upgrade.
    Any information is greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,
sorry for the late reply, but even though you said that all the G4's will be supported, does this mean that my G4 Digital Audio will run leopard? Granted that I haven't upgraded my processor yet. My ram is at 1.5GB. I also use my mac for everyday tasks and am not a video designer nor a gamer, therefore I don't need the expensive power overhaul of the Mac Pro machine.
Please let me know if Leopard will run on the Digital Audio G4.

  • IPhone Hotspot connect to VPN Issue

    Hello everyone,
we got some issues using the hotspot feature in combination with VPN over PPTP.
It alaways fails with error: 800 in windows. Browsing the internet works fine.
Tried it with iPhone 5 and 4S. iOS Version 6.1.3 and 7 Beta 3.
    Same issue on each Version.
First I thought its maybe a carrier issue but if I use the hotspot feature on an old blackberry (same sim) the vpn works fine.
Does anyone got this issue also or know how to fix it?
    Regards
    David

    Connect it to iTunes.

  • XP issues and VPN on Leopard Xserve

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help with this. I have PPTP set up on OS X Server Leopard. Leopard clients are able to connect and access internal resources as well as the Internet without any problems. XP clients on the other hand are having problems.
XP clients are able to connect and authenticate on the VPN. No problems there.
It's only when I try to access websites while connected to the VPN that problems occur. I can access internal webservers by hostname and IP. However I cannot access external sites like slashdot.org for instance, even by it's IP, eg http://216.34.181.45 The browser just time's out. They're able to ping the internal machines and external sites by hostname and IP address, so I'm almost certain that DNS isn't an issue. In fact if I ping slashdot.org on an XP machine connected to the VPN I get good response times and no dropped packets.
Here's where it gets strange though. Not all websites exhibit this behavior. I can access google.com and msn.com without any problems. I've cleared the browser cache before running these tests. I know slashdot.org isn't down because I can access it from a Leopard machine. Other sites like cnn.com load up eventually but take a really long time to load. On a Leopard machine on PPTP, it loads up in a snap.
I've read that unchecking "Use default gateway on remote network" helps. All that did for me was to sort of reverse the behavior. External sites work perfectly, but internal sites can only be accessed by their IP since the internal hostnames can no longer be resolved (DNS issue on this one I suppose).
On the Leopard server I have entries in the "Network Routing Definition" table for the internal sites and the nameserver. I also have entries in the "DNS Servers" section and "Search Domains" section.
Can someone tell me what it is that I'm missing? Is the problem with XP clients or with the server? I'm inclined to believe that the server configuration is fine since other Leopard clients aren't having problems at all, only XP clients.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thanks for your response, but I mentioned in my post that I already tried that:
+I've read that unchecking "Use default gateway on remote network" helps. All that did for me was to sort of reverse the behavior. External sites work perfectly, but internal sites can only be accessed by their IP since the internal hostnames can no longer be resolved (DNS issue on this one I suppose).+
With the checkbox unchecked, I can no longer resolve IP addresses on the intranet. That is, if I have an intranet server called stuff.myintranet.com (192.168.22.54), pinging it won't work. However if I ping it's IP, that works. So I suspect that DNS is being messed up. However if I do an ipconfig /all on the XP machine, I see the corrent DNS servers listed for the VPN connection.
So while I do have access to both intranet and the internet, it's not really a feasible solution to have users access the many intranet servers we have using the IP address instead of the hostname.

  • CUCM Jabber iPhone 9.1.1 VPN unexpected Disconnect

    Hi like-minded :-),
We Setup a CUCM 9.1.1. with iPhones Jabber 9.1 as TCT Device and the iPhone Device Register at CUCM via Wifi and VPN. All works fine, also Dial via Office, Dial via Internet and Dial Automaticly.
Also, when we move from Wifi to VPN during an active Call, the call are not drop. Also good!
Also when have only VPN active and VPN goes down for a short time, when VPN comes back, the call is still there.
Means in all cases the active call is in hold, when Wifi or VPn goes down for a short time.
But one thing I had expected, but it will not work.
When the iPhone is in a active call via VPN or Wifi and both goes unexpected down, that CUCM hold the Call and Call me back at my iPhones via mobile network.
This will not work. The call is in hold for a period of time and then goes in disconnect.
Knows someone is this normal, or something is configure wrong?
    THX in advance

    Hi,
Have you checked that the Jabber Voice application has access to the iPhone microphone, when first running the app users may get a prompt to give the app access to it. This could explain why normal calls work.
You can check this by accessing General Settings > Privacy > Microphone

  • IPhone won't sync after installing Leopard

    Hi,
This weekend I updated my Mac Mini's system to 10.5.5 from 10.4.11 and I discovered that my iPhone won't sync now. I do get the little bleep sound when I plug it in and it will charge, but it won't sync. I have tried rebooting both the Mac Mini and the iPhone, but to no avail. Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks much,
    David
