I would like to know why if you can SMS me a code for my $100 STORE CREDIT, why with my .mac, A&T, and SMS functions you could not have told me throught the iPhone how the try to get back my money.
Please do not try to blame AT&T for their POOR network. I am retired AT&T and apparently know more about cell phones than Apple.
Why should I want STORE CREDIT after spending so much money to be an early buyer. I am recommending that people by at after Chrismas "Sales" and do not give any more Apple presents

Two ways that I have done this previously. First is just to purchase the SIM card at the local destination. Secondly, you can purchase a SIM card before you travel at places like http://www.cellularabroad.com/.

hi ive also got the same probblem ive had it working last night but then after 2 hours of working it decided to put the phone back into recovery mode plus its an unknow error (36) Ive tried to connect to i tunes and it started to recovery and wipe the to put it back into factory settings then came up with the error 36 can any one help

The messed up thing is that I thought I could use the credit on iTunes over time as I buy music, audiobooks, etc., but noooooo, they won't let you use the credit for either iTunes or for the purchase of an iTunes gift card. Truly an empty promise. I purchased all of the needed iPhone accessories (docks, cases, adaptors) before the credit was announced! Now there is nothing else really relevant to buy from the Apple Store (retail or online) if they aren't going to let you use iTunes. I guess I could return the extra dock I bought and then re-buy it with the credit. Now, where is that receipt and packaging?? The only other things they sell for iPhone that I don't have are the crystal film and another one of those silly little adaptors you have to use for a car cassette device all b/c of the recessed jack on the iPhone. It shouldn't be this way, particularly with Apple.

Im developing a Plugin using Illustrator 10 SDK.
Development IDE-Microsoft VC++ 6.0 on windows.
Please help me how to identify a Process swatch which has the following percentages of color:C-0,M-0,Y-0,K-100(Global option is ticked).Color mode
CMYK .This swatch may contain any name.I also need to check whether the entity that contains this swatch is overprint filled or not.
How should i automate this ?Any source code samples please?

I have an iPhone 4s 32gb running IOS 5.1.1 (not jailbroken) - I have noticed a running process called "Music~iphone". Does anyone know what this is?

Your question leads to a really interesting fact: The process "Music~iphone" isn't started only if you hear music – it's started, too if you make a search with Google app or any other Google app like Maps – even if you've never heard any music !! And it won't be killed in the background. So whenever you're searching for something with Google (app) or any other Google app like Maps there starts this process in the background until it's actively killed or your iPhone ist rebooted – and it uses your resources. This is consistently reproducable on all my iPhones – and different iOS versions. I don't like that at all and will investigate further…

IPhone $100 Apple Credit - Use for screen repair? Will repair price drop?

I cracked my iPhone screen and was told by one Apple agent it would be $150 to replace the screen while another agent indicated it would be $250. What is the price to replace the iPhone screen? Will the price of replacing the screen drop now that the price for a new iPhone has dropped so dramatically? Lastly, will the $100 Apple iPhone rebate that Steve Jobs referenced in his letter be valid towards this type of repair? Thx!!!

These questions can only be answered by Apple, so you'll have to call them to find out. This is a user-to-user technical help forum, so no one here will know what Apple can do for you in that regard.

MBP is lagging big time due to "Window Server" using 100% processing....

Lately my MBP has been momentarily lagging to the point where it stalls for more than 15 minutes and I have to force shutdown. The fans turn on as the MBP heats up. My only apps opened are iTunes, Firefox, Netnewswire and Mail at the time so I don't think its taking up most of my 4GB ram? Itunes is active playing songs.
I installed iStat Nano Dashboard a year ago and I decided today to check to see which app is taking up most of the processor upon this lag. I noticed it says "Window Server" is taking up 100% of my processing power. What is Window Server? I don't have my Parallels application on so I don't assume it means "Windows" as its "Window", so could it mean something related to Mac Os X?

It's not due ot running Windows OS. It's always running on my Macs but at low levels--1 to 5 percent--and I have no virtualization set up. I googled "windowserver mac process" (note I left out the space) and found this "definition" in another forum:
The WindowServer does exactly what the name suggests: it acts as a server process to composite/draw windows onto the screen. It deals with taking the bitmap of each window and drawing it to the correct location on screen (as an OpenGL texture these days), layering the windows correctly and compositing them where there are translucent areas (again all done in OpenGL these days). It also handles the double buffering of windows backing stores allowing the updates to the window content to be smooth and flicker free.

One poster suggested it came from having Dashboard running, but the poster I quoted said it is not.
From what I can determine, your seeing high windowserver activity could be due to having too much stuff on your desktop. The system sees each icon as a potential new window and allocates resources to it. Too many desktop items have always slowed the Mac OS and, at some point upward of 250, can crash the system.
If your desktop have a lot of icons having about corral them into folders. If you have 100 items on the desktop and put them into six folders, the count dropped to six.
In case it is Dashboard, consider turning it off when not in use. It uses a lot of other background resources. I use the widget DashQuit to turn off Dashboard once I have the info I need. Remember, a lot of widgets have to remain active because the constantly "phone home" to update the info they display. They will eat cycles.

IPhone Activation Process

Hello all:
I live in Utah, and I am going to purchase an iPhone in the next few days - w00t! I just have an important question that I'm hoping someone here can answer.
The area I'm living in now has no AT&T service, but the area I'm moving to in a few months does. The time for me to purchase iPhone and AT&T service, however, is now - due to things like contract dates and such.
My question is this:
When activating iPhone through iTunes, is the entire process handled over my internet connection or does iPhone need to "call home" to AT&T during the activation process like other phones/carriers?

Yes, it needs to transmit data over the EDGE network to finish activation.

Problem solved unchecked back up to icloud and backed up to my computer, which then allowed me to untick the songs that were physically on my iphone (when iphone connected to computer) that I didn't want. Synced again and voila!!! Only files I want are now on my iphone . This has been bugging me for weeks, determination certainly paid off. Sometimes I think having problems is a good thing, you learn heaps trying to solve an issue

IPhone 6 Process Time and Shipment

Okay. I ordered an iPhone 6+ 128GB in Space Gray at 12:17am PST. I started my order around 11:56pm, and had to have a chat with a representative on how to go about buying the phone at retail (it was, obviously, the month-to-month option), finished the order with her help, and then exited the chat. User sirmalloc in his threads located here and here that he not only ordered several minutes after me, but after being persistent was able to get a hold of a tracking number for his order - an order that is identical to mine (although I also ordered a stylus with my phone). So I expected that today I would receive a tracking number.
I'm usually a patient person, but having a broken phone currently and paying full price for the 6+ has left me a little less than patient.
Throughout the order, as with many other individuals, the order stated that I would have my phone delivered by 9/19. Even on confirmation page it stated this date. If I had known it would be anything but this date, I would have simply ordered from the Apple Store via the app on my phone. Also on the confirmation page, it said that my confirmation email can take anywhere up to 24 hours to arrive. Cool, no big deal. It's just an email. The email arrived at 1:52am, stating a shipping date of 10/7.
My anxiety over this different shipping date lead me into another chat where I asked if a tracking number was available to my order - and this was after viewing sirmalloc's successful tracking number post. I was told that no, and my order would be delivered 10/7.
Then a Verizon Representative via these forums sent me a direct message. I responded with my account details, and received the same reply - my order will arrive 10/7.
THEN I called up Verizon CS to ask for a tracking number earlier today. The woman was very friendly, but she told me the same thing - my order will arrive 10/7. HOWEVER, she said my order - which I placed at 12:17am, did not process until 1:52am. hmm.. that time sounded familiar. It was the same time my email was sent! But it's only suppose to be an email, RIGHT? It shouldn't affect what place I was in the line of ordering.
So why is it that this has happened? Why was my order bumped so far back in the line where it shouldn't have been that my shipping date is now WEEKS away instead of only days?

My current phone is usable, just broken (screen colors are super inverted, phone gets very hot quickly, edges of screen are completely black, phone darkens with usage, imprint of pages are made onto the screen, back of phone shattered, pictures incapable of being viewed, print/text barely able to be read, etc etc). I can still operationally DO everything on the phone, but the effectiveness of the operations performed at poor at best (if capable at all).
I realize the people who ordered the 128 6+ are mostly getting theirs in October. My question is why am I behind the line of people who ordered after me? I have another example**, and this person ordered at 8:30AM! (if their claims are to be believed; the user in my original post at least provides proof)

Why are users being penalized for when Verizon decided to get around to processing the orders, instead of put in their spot in line for when the user placed the order?

IPhone/iPod - Processing internal audio stream (whatever audio is playing )

Hi Guys,
I think this is probably not possible but is it possible to write an app that can process any playing audio from the iPod app, for example to add reverb?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry for being a bit slow here, but are you saying:
1. the iPod app on the iPhone can act as a host for AUFX components.
Or
2. You can write an app that can intercept the system audio output and use this in a AUGraph with AUFX plugins to modify the audio.
Or
3. Something completely different.

Original iPhone -- $ 100 credit

I bought the original iPhone in July 2007 and received a $ 100 credit when the prices dropped a few months later. I have not yet redeemed the credit. I tried to use it in buying a new 3G S earlier today but didn't see how to use the credit. There is no "redeem by" notice on the credit. Is the $ 100 credit still valid?

You said you hadn't redeemed the credit. If that's correct, then it's too late. If, however, you redeemed the credit but haven't used it, then it should be valid on almost anything in the Apple Store. You'll have to ask about using it on a new iPhone, though.
But again, if you never redeemed the credit, you're out of luck.

but most probably it is your Db which which may be causing
There may be so many reasons for this
It is happenig intermittently?
What is happening at the DB level during 100%?
Any batch process?
any Reporting ?
BAckup?
