IPhone 2.0 exchange calendar sync issue with PUSH enabled

I have setup Push sync over Exchange for my iPhone. If I accept an incoming meeting request it does not update Entourage calendar. If I change delivery setting to fetch, the issue disappears. Is this a known bug? BTW - several of my work colleagues have noted the same issue. All are Entourage users too.

You can accept/decline/mark tentative any meetings sent to you, and you can also edit meetings you create (whether on the phone or in Outlook, OWA, etc).
IMPORTANT: make sure your user name for the Exchange account as entered on your iPhone exactly matches the case of the user name set up on the Exchange server. (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your-Exchange-Account > Account Info). Set both the Email and Username fields to exactly match the case of your email and username on Exchange. Look up yourself in the Exchange Address Book in Outlook and see how it's entered. i.e. [email protected] must be entered in the iPhone with the same capitalization. I also edited my own contact cards to match -- just to be sure.
Otherwise, the iPhone gets confused with meeting invites and might ask you to Accept/Maybe/Decline your own meetings! If this is the case, you also won't be able to edit meetings on the iPhone even if you create them.
As far as i know, the above is only true for Exchange accounts. I had this problem, and solved it last night.

  • IPhone to Exchange calendar sync issues

OK, I have read through many posts on here, but have yet to find a post that describes my situation. If someone has seen this answered in other places, please let me know.
I currently have the following setup:
iPhone 2.2.1, using OTA sync with Exchange
    Entourage 2008 (not Outlook/Windows)
Exchange server 2007 (at work, I am not the guy who runs it)
My mail and contacts work fine.
CALENDAR issue for me is something I can't quite wrap my head around:
I get syncs fine for calendar when accepted through Entourage - but when they are updated by the original senders I get multiple entries for every event showing up on my phone (the old events aren't removed). In addition, my phone does not sync back to the Exchange server when I accept invitations, nor when I create entries in my calendar.
    Thoughts?

This problem is only something I've had problems with recently. Previously entries in the Calendar would sync OK regardless of where they were created or accepted. So appointments I logged on the road into the phone would work back into Exchange and onto Entourage.
Two things have changed. Our Exchange server was upgraded and how has Active Sync which means I now get push notifications which is great. I've also gone up to the 3.01 software on the iPhone.
Now, it seems I am ONLY getting push from Exchange to the iPhone. Calendar entries from Entourage appear on the phone.
Any calendar entries created on the phone or invites accepted on the phone stay on the phone. They are not synced back to Exchange and onto my Entourage calendar.
As someone who is office based for only a few days a month, effective Calendar sync is vital.
If the problem is with the OS update on the phone then this fix needs to be part of 3.02. If the problem lies with the Active Sync setup then I need some instructions to go back to our Sys Admins with.
    Thanks!

  • Calendar sync issues with iPhone 2.2 upgrade

I have an original iPhone which I sync with Outlook 2003 on my PC. After upgrading to the 2.2 firmware for the iPhone, the calendars no longer sync in either direction. Contacts still work perfectly, as do the iTunes libraries. Just as with the 2.0 upgrade, Outlook calendars (without exchange) are messed up, only this time there is no sync at all.
If similar issues are happening to you, please add to this thread and/or report to Apple.

After spending literally hours with AppleCare and on my own, we found that the only way to get the calendar to sync as to create a new Outlook profile, and have that calendar sync. It worked fine, but I was not able to have my legacy calendar. I just moved over my mail, contacts, and tasks (export to PST file from old Outlook profile).
To create a new Outlook profile:
    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Go to Mail (who knew this existed!!)
    3. Choose Show Profiles
    4. Click Add
    5. Set the box below to "Always Use this Profile" and select your new profile.
You will have a brand new Outlook. Then you can test by putting one item in the new calendar. Set the sync setting in iTunes only to do the calendar, and hopefully this fixes it. You will at least get your last 30 days data this way sync'd back to the PC.
The upgrades played havoc with some people's calendars, and while it is really annoying, I am running again.

  • IPhone calendar sync issues with Outlook

I have a problem with syncing my iPhone calendar with my Outlook 2003 calendar.
For example, let's say I had a 12pm appointment today displaying both in my outlook and iPhone. However, when I sync my iPhone after the event e.g. at 3pm, the appointment entry in the Outlook is removed, whilst the appointment entry on my phone remains. I did not edit either of the appointment entries. Even if I re-sync my phone, the 12pm appointment still remains in my phone whilst it's missing in my Outlook.
Are there others encountering the same problem as well? Any ways to fix this problem? Thanks

I've talked to them. Very helpful, but no solution. The iPhone Specialist I spoke to had not heard of the problem before. At one point he put me on hold and came back to say that he had checked with some people and they had heard of this "emerging" problem but had no answers. He admitted that all problems are "emerging" problems, given that the product has been out for only 2 weeks. We tried a variety of things with no success. I had to tell him about the manual workaround - going into each appointment, setting it to recur, etc. This does make it reappear, but isn't practical for those of us with tons of appointments. I'm not shocked that they don't want to acknowledge this, given that calendar synching is so important to their targeted business customer base. It's hard to believe that they could have screwed up something that every other manufacturer seems to be able to do well and that is at the same time so critical to business users.

  • Outlook calendar sync issue with iphone

A friend has a desktop running XP with Outlook 2003, iTunes 10, an iPhone 3G running iOS4.
In Outlook, he has his personal contacts and calendar, both with lots of entries.
iTunes is configured to sync his contacts and calendar to his iPhone.
The contacts sync successfully - the calendar does not, meaning the calendar on his iPhone is completely blank, no entries.
We tried resetting the sync history in iTunes, creating a test appointment on both the iPhone and Outlook - nothing.
We then set up a temporary local user on the XP box, configured Outlook, launched iTunes and went to configure calendar syncing when we noticed something different.
When logged in as the temp local user account, in iTunes > iPhone > Info > Sync calendars where you have the choice between All or Selected calendars, under Selected, there was a selectable line item called Calendar.
However, when we switched back to the regular domain user account, that line item was not there.
This leads me to believe that iTunes in that domain user profile for some reason does not detect Outlook calendar, yet it does as the local user.
I thought maybe it has something to do with the user role (he was member of some custom group, not sure what the exact permissions are) and changed him to an administrator role, logged out/back in, tried again, but no difference.
I am not sure how to further troubleshoot this. What can I try to make iTunes detect the calendar? It's really puzzling because it sees the contacts in Outlook and syncs them just fine.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This sounds just like the problem I am having since downloading the latest version of i-Tunes. Initially i-tunes wasn't recognised so after reinstalling i-Tunes and it's 5 other associated programmes I found that there was a cmpatability isuue (Right click i-tunes icon and go to compatability tag) Once this was sorted my Outlook calendar would not sync with my i-phone. 2 weeks later I am told it is because I have Outlook 2002 and need to upgrade. Frustrating as it worked ok before the latest upgrade.

  • Exchange Calendar  Sync Issues List

I have noticed three things that are driving me insane and wonder if anyone else is having the same problems and/or has found a fix for the problems below.
    1. If you add an appointment in Outlook with categories, by editing it with the iPhone in any way, it clears the categories every time consistently. This is a huge issue for us!
    2. You cannot add a private appointment from the iPhone
    3. You cannot change the view in the calendar on the iPhone. The default view is to see all the appointments in 30 minute increments, I need this to be in 15 minute increments.
Anyone else what to add to the list? I figured we can list it all here so that Apple has a reference to see some of the issues we are having.
    Thanks,
    Zach

Hmm, i jut bought an iPhone 3g and imust say it has not impressed me with regards to its Exchange capabilities. some of my dissatisfaction are as follows:
    - cannot customise calendar, sms , alarm sounds. the default sounds are just too soft and short and i have missed a couple of my appointments. Plus, there is no blinking light to tell u if u have a missed call, sms or appointment/reminder, sigh...
    - the contacts in iphone are also not very smart. u have to key in your telephone no. together with the + and country code, else, when u receive a ring/sms, it will not show u the person from your contacts but merely a number;
    - i can't load any of my mp3 songs as my ringtone or my calendar or my sms alerts as Apple specifies the ringtone has to be <30 seconds and no customisation for sms/reminders...sigh...;
    - also, if i open up any office documents >1mb, my iphone crashes or simply doesnt open them;
    - i share some of my calendar with my staff. In my previous Sony Ericsson P990i, when i enter an appointment, i could mark personal appointment/reminders as "private". iphone doesnt allow me to do so hence, the whole world knows my appointment...sigh..;
    - iphone doesnt allow u to sync with microsoft outlook notes...sigh...
i sincerely hope there will be a new update from apple to address all these issues if it wants to attract the business market...

  • Exchange calendar sync issues among iOS devices and Mavericks

When I add an event to a shared Exchange calendar on my Mac in iCal, and mark it as All-Day, that designation does not appear with the event on my iOS devices. Instead, it's given a 24-hour duration from 12 to 12, so to speak. Here's the confusing part: If I edit the event on my iPhone to correct it as All-Day, it does not sync that All-Day designation to my iPad. Additionally, if I then make the same correction on the iPad, toggles it on the phone and removes All-Day. Removal of All-Day designation on a device does remove it on the Mac calendar, which I then have to change back. So I chase it around in a circle and end up with the correct duration on only one iOS device. The difference in All-Day and 24 hours duration does matter graphically as many of these events run for several weeks or months. All-Day keeps them confined to the upper section of the calendar graph rather than muddying up the lowerm hourly appointments.
Any ideas on how to rectify the problem?
I'm running Mavericks, iOS 7.0.3 and using MS Exchange 2010.

There are several other posters on the Forums that are having issues with Exchange sync'ing with Mavericks. It could be that your all-day verses mutli-hour issue may be among them.
Most of the problems that people are seeing, including myself, are more to do with Mail and Calendar simply not synchronizing.
My Mail.app INBOX for my Exchange server is now several hours behind my iOS and Windows Outlook instances. Calendar appointments are simply not being pushed to the server (though they seem to be retrieved OK).
So, sorry for now help on this one directly, but you are not alone.

  • IOS 6 and Exchange Calendar Sync Issues

My company has been having several issues with iOS6 active sync and Exchange 2010 (sp2 ru4 v2).
    Issues:
    1. When an appointment is updated by the organizer the initial appointment does not update on the iOS device. Instead a 2nd appointment is created at the new time causing both appointments to be present.
    2. When an appointment is updated by the organizer the iOS device does not reflect the updated date / time. This seems to happen more than not with recurring events.
Does anyone know if apple is aware or what the procedure would be for me to open a case with them directlty? All iOS devices are fully updated (to avoid the tansaction log bug that was happening).

Same issue here Sam, with several users in our organization of about 2500 iPhone and iPad users, mostly iPhone.
I have been watching your post for over two weeks now and no one has responded.  Have you learned anything in the interim?
Unfortunately I have not, my many searches across the web have yielded no results that are relevant to the problem.

  • Outlook calendar syncing issue with BB tour

My phone has been working great with my outlook up an till about 2 weeks ago. Desktop Manager syncs everything except my outlook calendar. I can't seem to figure out why it won't sync. I do have the newest version of the desktop mgr downloaded onto my computer.
    PLEASE help!

I have provided some information below, that may help with your syncing issue.
Try going back through the synchronization options on the desktop manager. I have provided the detailed instructions below:
    http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=16559
***Step 6 and 7 in the synchronization process will be the most important. Ensure you are selecting calendar (and anything else that is needed), as well as Outlook in Step 7. Step 8 will be up to you in whether you would like to do the following:
    Two way sync
Changes are synchronized to the device and desktop application.
    One way sync from Device
Changes are synchronized to the desktop application only.
    One way sync to Device
Changes are synchronized to the device only.
***You may have to reset your current synchronization and set it back up. If this is needed, use the same article above and on Step 5 in the article you will have the option to reset configuration.
    I hope this helps.

  • Calendar Sync Issue with Outlook 2007 / Exchange

    Contacts are syncing fine.
I;ve tried Outlook 2003 and 2007... same problem with both.
    Here's the error:
    Microsoft Office Outlook
'OutlookSyncClient' exited without properly closing your Outlook data file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Brandon\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost'. 'Microsoft Office Outlook' must be restarted. If this error message recurs, contact support for 'OutlookSyncClient' for assistance.
    Any help would be appreciated.

So here's the only solution I've got so far and obviously it is not ideal...
I switched to a different computer and installed outlook 2003. No calendar at all prior to this. Installed iTunes 7.4.x and plugged in the iPhone. I told it to sync contacts and calendar (merge) with Outlook. I DID NOT connect this outlook client to the exchange server at all.
Worked like a charm. I still have no idea how to get this working with Exchange. OST by default is the way cached exchange stored files... so I'm welcome to any suggestions for somehow getting everything into a clean pst file that still syncs for offline use with exchange.
APPLE - outlook sync is an issue. It's not just me (google search proves it).

  • Help! iPad calendar sync issues with Exchange server

Hello, I've googled this issue and haven't come across with any definitive answer so I'll put it up here to see if anyone have any idea(s).
iPad 3G/Wifi working fine for over a month (firmware 3.2.1) synching with MS Exchange server (only Mail account on the device), over the weekend, calendar entries have disappeared. I've deleted the mail profile and reset it up again, here's what happens, email starts to pull down, same with contacts and Calendar entries, then while Calendar App is open on Month view I can see that the appointments are also being sync then after about a minute, all the entries will just disappear, if I wait a few more minutes, the appointments will start to repopulate again then disappear again after about a minute! Email and contacts are fine, just this Calendar issue.
More background data: User is using an iMac with Entourage 2008, his EA has full email rights to his mailbox and have his email profile on Outlook 2003, both are showing correct Calendar entries on desktop, have also checked the account on OWA and it looks fine there as well.
I'm guessing a corrupt calendar entry (possibly re-occuring appointment)... Does any one have any other thoughts?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks!!!

I have been having very similar issues to those described by Imola.  The calendar appears to try to load, and a few appointments may show up, but then they will all (or almost all) dissapear.  My company uses Exchange 2003.
Occassionally, deleting a large attachement has helped.  But not always.  Several times in the past, I have exported all my calendar entries as a .csv file, deleted all the calendar entries in Outlook, and then re-imported the .csv file.  While this always works to re-populate my calendar, it also strips functionality (like recurring appointments).
This is very frustrating, and results in me havinging to rely on my Blackberry while traveling, when I would like to just trust the data in the iPad.  A web search clearly shows that many people have this issue, but I have not yet seen any direct responses from Apple.  I hope this is addressed soon.

  • Microsoft exchange calendar sync issue in iOS 5.0.1

    Hi,
I have iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 installed. My company uses Miycrosoft Exchange Server and I have synched my iPhone using the Microsoft Exchange server account option. I don't have any probelm with my emails or contacts.
However, the calendar is not synching properly. After I setup the account for the first time, I see many of my calendar items has been synced. But some of them are missing. I can't find any reason why those items are missing. I added/deleted new items on my calendar on Outlook Web Access and it showed up on my iPhone. I also tried adding/deleting items on my iPhone and they synched appropriately. The only issue is some of the pre-existing items are not showin on my iPhone and I can't find any reason for it.
I already tried to delete the account and add from scratch. I also removed the iCloud from my iPhone and tested without iCloud, no difference. I reinstalled the iCloud.
    Any help is much appreciated.

We have struggled with this as well on Exchange 2010. We just trued this today with some of our users and seems to get everything back into sync:
    On the iOS device:
    • Navigate to Settings app > Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
    • Scroll down and locate the Calendar section
    • Tap Sync (under the Calendars section)
    • Set the interval to All Events
    • Close the Settings app (Tap Home button)
I suggest rebooting the iOS device. Check the calendar and let it sync – look for those missing events.
This has worked for everyone that had the missing events issue.

  • IOS 6.1.3 and Exchange Calendar Sync issues

I have a staff member in our association who has recently upgraded to IOS 6.1.3 on her iPhone and ever since, whenever she creates an event on her iPhone calendar that is synced with her work Exchange account, it will appear on Outlook on her computer, as its supposed to, but moments later it will disappear from her phone and I can't get it to reappear. Any thoughts?

  • 2 iPhone Household w/ Outlook Profile Sync Issues with iTunes beyond 7.3.1

I’m huge Apple supporter and have to say this is the most frustrating computer issue I have ever come across. My wife and I both have iPhones and we sync them to the same pc except different Outlook profiles. iTunes 7.3.1 works fine when we sync our iPhones on each of out Outlook profiles, anything beyond 7.3.1 will automatically sync my contacts and calendar directly to her phone. It’s as if iTunes cannot distinguish between the two outlook profiles on the newer iTunes versions. I have tried both Outlook 2003 and 2007 with newer iTunes, and it's still not able to distinguish the two profiles.
    Any would be greatly appreciated.

i have a similar problem, having one good and one bad outlook profile. Used to sync just fine against the good one (which is called 'new profile). new version is defaulting against the bad one, which has none of my contacts...
where does one setup which named profile is to be used?
    thank you! any help appreciated!

  • New Calendar Sync Issue with new iPad2

My calendar has synched flawlessly with my google calendar and Mac previously, but since adding a new iPad2 to the mix, I am having some issues.
I noted today that when I made a change on the MBP, the iPad calendar was not updated during a sync. So I checked the settings and "sync calendars" was not checked. Odd since it always synched in the past.
So I selected sync calendars and got the message that over 2000 entries would be added or modified on the MBP. I have also chosen to not sync events more than 30 days old but some of these items go back to 2006.
    An example.
Event happening in April of 2008 shows no original date (whatever that means) so the modification is to add an original date of 12/31/00.
I have no clue what this is about or why the iPad sync is not working correctly.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
