IPhone 2.0 shows content as "Other" after syncing

Upgraded to 2.0 At first all was well. With nothing else changed, when I now try to sync with Itunes 7.7, all music and video content shows as "Other" on the summary tab. On my iPhone, no music or video shows up existing under Playlists, Artists, etc. I have to completely restore my iPhone each time I sync, which takes over 90 minutes. (Even if I unselect playlists, then sync, the original amount of space used by my content still shows as used "Other" space, so I must restore, then add the playlists back in, sync without ever disconnecting my iPhone, then it will be fine until I want to sync again)
Tech info:
* Plugged into USB 2.0 port, directly into computer (have even tried different ports)
*I have uninstalled and reinstalled the newest version of iTunes
* Windows Vista SP2
* Not using Exchange - very basic iPhone configuration
* Have tried resetting iPhone as well

The space used by my music and video content "turns" into the 6+GB of "Other" after I Sync. Again, once I restore, this 6GB of space is correctly my content, until I sync again.
So yes, obviously something isn't right. Any suggestions?

I've synced, but there are apps on my phone that are not showing up on the Mac. When I go to Itunes, the check box for "Sync Apps" is NOT checked. When I check it however, it warns me that all apps on my phone (and their respective data) will be erased and replaced with ones on the Mac. I don't want to lose all the new apps and data for said apps. I just want to get my new apps over to the computer.

The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.

Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone. Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:

If you check the raw message source you will see that the content is there but it is under "alternative" content. To show this "alternative" content in lion mail press:
Command+Option+P
Unfortunately you need to do this each time you view the message.

i did not understand last sentence - if i have one? you mean to say if i have data or not in my iphone?
i have many pictures, messages, contacts which are very much important.
so will it be all restore and will be backup again in my iphone if i restore?

ok maybe you have to redownload the software. Don't worry your stuff will still be there. Put your in iphone on itunes and press the restore button. he wil back up your stuff and he will download another software. If the problem is still there then go to the apple retail store.

So, your iPhone (and new shuffle) still work properly with iTunes, correct?
Your 1st gen shuffle... It's the white one with USB plug, that looks like a USB flash drive...?
Are you able to see it in Windows, and maybe change the drive letter back to E:?

Showing 8gb in others after update

Hey Guys
I just updated my ipad 2 from ios 6 to ios 7.0.4
After the update the bar on the sync screen in itunes showed over 8GB in "others", which is really wierd since i also rebooted my iPad. therefore there should be nothing on it exept for the music i wanted to sync on the iPad (which wasn't posible because of the 8GB form "others").
Can anyone help me?

Other is usually around 1 GB...
A ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup...
But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup...
Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

Iphone won't show up in itunes after installing latest itunes update

I just installed the latest version of iTunes. Now it won't recognize my iPhone 4. It shows up as a camera on my computer (Windows XP Pro) but no matter what I do, I can't get iTunes to see the iPhone. Any ideas?

Audio files suddenly showing up as "Other" after connecting to iTunes

This is the second time this has happened, and I'm hoping there's a better fix than restoring the whole phone.
I have a 3G iPhone with 3.0 software. I plugged in the iPhone to charge using the usb cable, and when clicking on the device in iTunes, the Capacity bar shows all of my audio files as "other" 7.59 gb worth of files. I tried syncing, but I manually manage my music & videos. I can try to readd the files, but there's still the 7.59gb of other files taking up space. If I check audio files on the phone itself, it says there are none.
I have no idea why this happens - as I mentioned this is the second time it's done it, and I'm frustrated.
Any ideas?

This is a symptom of an interrupted sync. The only fix is to Restore the phone with iTunes.

So I downloaded some secure server-type crap so I can work from home (Healthcare industry) and every since then I can't use my iTunes, it won't recognize my phone. I need the software to work, obviously, but I need my iTunes to work. Can the two coexist? I tried deleting then reloading itunes... nothing. I restarted phone... same. I went and restarted the iphone stuff as the tips say... nothing.
Any ideas?
