IPhone 2.0 software and Bluetooth

I am sooo disappointed in the new software. I've successfully used my first generation iPhone with software 1.1.4 with my new Dodge uConnect system ($1,500 sound and bluetooth). Until today.
Upgraded my iPhone to version 2.0. Upgrade failed and got repeated error codes through iTunes. No big deal, I was on my way to Apple store to buy new 3G phone. 5 hours later, have new phone, and apple specialist fixed the original. New phone unable to use with uConnect. It pairs, but doesn't find the phone (?). Called Apple. They said they don't support auto bluetooth devices. (nice to know). Gave 3G phone to son, reactivated my original phone to me - still does not work.
Here I am $500 and one full day later and now there are TWO phones that won't connect to my system. PLEASE FIX THE BLUETOOTH!!!

Interesting, I have a Jeep 2007 Compass with uConnect. It pairs with the 3G but doesn't see the phone when I try to make a call, or when I get a call. Worked fine with the older iPhone.
I did something after an hour (literally!) of fiddling, I thought it was turning TTY mode on...that made it work. Then when I left the car and came back it didn't work. I tried the same thing and it didn't make it work again. I tried it with another phone. No dice. Finally I gave up, and after the phone had been off for a minute or 3 it suddenly worked. Of corse it stopped again after I got out of the car.
When I told the nice AppleCare guy this he said he could help. Unfortunately we then got cut off and I had to call back and try again.
So I would strongly recommend you call back and see if the next guy can help! (and then post the answer...race ya!)

  • Desktop Software and Bluetooth (not just a rehash of the same problem!)

Hoping someone here can help me! I'm just about to go batty.
Long story - so I'll just skip to the relevent parts. I'm trying to connect my (T-Mobile) 8800 to my PC (it's an old Sony desktop, that did not come with bluetooth support. Running SP3) I've purchased a Rocketfish (Best Buy's cheapo brand?) Bluetooth USB adapter. I set that up, it read my 8800 just fine, did the key stuff, etc.
The problem is that the BlackBerry Desktop Software is not accepting that particular adapter. I've read what I think is every article (!) on the topic, and I understand that the Desktop Software only works with the outdated drivers that come with SP2 - no 3rd Parties. I uninstalled the software, and stuck the adapter back in, and let windows install with its driver. It seems to be calling it "Broadcom 2045 Bluetooth 2.0 USB-UHE Device."
Now, I have no Bluetooth icon in the taskbar, and none in the control panel, either. Obviously, the Desktop Software is a no-go, too.
Can anyone please let me know some suggestions? I've tried this (http://www.vinsvision.com/Articles/tabid/66/EntryID/13/Default.aspx) etc. I've called T-Mobile, tried to call RIM (though I didn't want to pay $50 for support that probably won't fix the issue?) and wasted the entire day!
Should I just return the new adapter and buy one that is represented in SP2? Are there any newer ones that are? I read someone say they found a belkin one that worked on Ebay. Would prefer an option that, if required to buy a new item, could do it locally ASAP.
    Thanks in advance everyone!

  • IPhone 3Gs Network, Wifi And Bluetooth Off On 4.3.3

Hi, it was two days (so from yesterday) that I have big issues with my iPhone 3Gs with iOS 4.3.3. It not have falls, so I don't think it's hardware problems, because it seems that all the connectivity modules restart. Network (3G or 2G), Wifi And Bluetooth seems to be off and again on, and repeats. First I try to restart, but nothing is fixed. Then I try to restore and insert backup, restore on DFU and insert again the apps, but this afternoon it restart the problems, and restarts itself two times. It strange because I see that the "Personal Hotspot" appears together with this issues. I posted images for explain better (the time is different because is not easy to shot the moment of the restart of the modules. I want to remak that since yesterday morning I never have this problems.

ind my iphone is turned on turn this off and  wifi will come on again also do a network reset after this then you can turn FIND my iphone on again  job done
Complete nonsense.  Find My iPhone has nothing to do with the grayed out wifi issue which you clearly don't understand - tuning it on and off does nothing.

    Your post is donkey excrement

  • IPhone WiFi greyed out and Bluetooth loading forever...

What I have is a 32GB White iPhone 4. It came pre-owned but undamaged on ebay. What's happening is that when I try to turn on WiFi in settings I cant because it is "greyed out", meaning I cant select anything or switch the toggle. Also, my bluetooth isnt working either and the option to turn it on is replaced by it showing the spinning "loading" icon forever. On top of all this, when I go to check the MAC address, it shows it as "Wifi Address: N/A".
I have tried resetting network settings, tried restoring from iTunes, tried DFU mode, consulted Apple about a 125GBP repair (Which I think is too expensive)... And when I got REALLY desperate, I even tried the infamous freezer trick.
What should I do? How can I fix this cost effectively and determine whether this device is suffering hardware or software-wise?
    Thanks in advance,
    Themankymoo

I guess if you have already tried it that many times then it really must be hardware. Obviously opening it up is not something Apple supports and it would void the warranty but since it doesn't exactly have one that is really up to you. If you can find a kit somewhere online or if you have some shop near by that will fix it for you for much less than the $149 to replace with Apple then thats a very open option that you have available.

  • IPhone 4s' noice cancelation and bluetooth

Does the iPhone 4s' noice cancelation work when connected to bluetooth?
The reason I ask is that when my phone is connected to my car sometimes people can hear me fine, and sometimes they say that there is too much background noise.  I'm starting to wonder if the times that it is noisy is when the phone is in my pocket, vs. sitting in the center console.
    Thanks,
    Ali

    Hey,
I had something really weird to happen to my iPhone here just the other day.  I don't remember it having an update or anything, but it wouldn't connect to my Wi-Fi at home.  I had it to forget the secured network, and then tried to reconnect, and kept getting the error message "Could not connect to secure network".  I am positive that I was keying in the correct password and everything, but I never could get it to work.  Well, my contract is up in about six months on the phone that I currently have, and I'm thinking of going with Straight Talk and will probably end up with a Droid phone because buying the iPhone on that would mean spending over $600, of which I am not prepared to do.  Anyway, I was going through and deactivating the iCloud and now, this evening, I tried to connect to the Wi-Fi again and it connected.  Now, I'm not saying that it was iCloud that was causing the issue, but after I deactivated the iCloud on my phone, I was able to get back on the Wi-Fi.  Now, it could be that my phone was acting really quirky as it does sometimes, but it is connected now.  I had tried all of the other fixes such as resetting the network settings and everything, but it still didn't work. I just thought I might throw this out there.

  • TS2776 Updated iPhone software and lost all my contacts. Previous updates worked fine. Phone backed up, installed software and the music, apps etc, but no contacts.  Have tried several times but no data at all. Any ideas?

Updated my iPhone with latest software and all my phone contacts have vanished.  Phone backed up as normal, then installed software then re-installed music, apps etc, but no contacts.
Have updated software before with no issues.  Have tried using tips from help page with no change - just a blank contact list.
    Any ideas?

Sync via PC - Thought I'd backed up as it said it was backing up the phone.  Having searched through here I see that the contacts aren't automatically saved!  Why is that when everything else is?
Contacts are made to be synched to your computer or a cloud service.  There is therefore no NEED to include them in your backup.  Same reason iTunes media is not part of the backup.  It's already on the computer.

Had you read the User Guide before using your phone, it would have been obvious.
Your data loss here is clearly user error and you have no one to blame but yourself.  The User Guide CLEARLY outlines the way your phone should be used to minimize data loss.
Sorry, but it's time to put on your big boy pants and accept responsibility for your inactions.

  • IBooks keeps crashing on iPad (latest software and updates installed)

Is anybody having a problem with iBooks crashing at any point on their iPad. It doesnt crash on the iPhone. All software and apps are latest and greatest per software updates. Any suggestions? It even still crashes after uninstalling it and re-downloading it.

Begin with a system Reset. Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A Reset will not delete apps, data, movies, pictures, music, etc.
If that doesn't help, download the 4.2 User Guide and look for help there. Pay special attention to page 170.

    So I shall!

  • IPhone Wifi and Bluetooth interference when used simultaneously

I am presently using AirFoiI to stream audio from my PC to my iPhone. AirFoil uses the same protocols as AirPlay. AirFoil/AirPlay streams an Alac audio codec using a bandwith of 1,50 Mbs on average irrespective of the audio codec and bit rate of the source file.
The audio stream received on my iPhone through WiFi is send over simultaneously to my Bluetooth speaker.
When using AirFoil/AirPlay, I regularly hear distortions at the beginning of a track and also randomly when a track is playing. The distortions are a lot more when I move the iPhone around.  I am almost 100% sure that these sound distortions are because of Bluetooth interference on the iPhone itself when simultaneously receiving an audio stream from AirFoil/AirPlay and sending an audio stream over bluetooth to my speaker.
I also have done some tests using "Net Meter" and "TCP-view" from Sysinternals on my Windows 7 PC.  On "Net Meter" I have never seen any WiFi drop outs or distortions regarding my home network.
My bluetooth speaker supports the A2DP AAC audio codec. This was an important feature for me before I bought the device because the AAC audio codec provides normally a relatively good audio quality over Bluetooth. At the time it did not occur to me that there might be a possible Bluetooth interference coming from my iPhone itself. I presumed that the Bluetooth on the iPhone would use a 2,4 Ghz RF channel not in use by WiFi so that WiFi and Bluetooth used on the same device simultaneously could never distort each other. I was clearly wrong.  Put shortly, the problems I encounter are presumably solely caused by the firmware/software on my iPhone. I hope this will eventually be resolved with some future iOs 8 updates. There were indeed many people having Bluetooth issues since iOs 8.
I know the best solution would be to wire my speaker optically with an AirPort Express or an Apple TV.  I have not yet decided between the two.
Even when there exists a "wired" solution, I think an expensive device such as an iPhone should be able to make sure that there is never interference between WiFi and Bluetooth when used simultaneously on the SAME device/iPhone.
I hope that some specialists will give their views on my "nonprofessional" analysis and some more in-depth information.

    Now will this work:
Airport extreme set to BOTH frequencies and my older wifi stuff like Iphone and printer will automatically connect via 2.4GHz and Macbook will connect to 5GHz so that it will not longe be disruppted by bluetooth?
Unfortunately, no one can predict exactly what will happen in advance with wireless and interference issues. Your chances will improve, though. It might be a good idea to understand the store's return policy before you buy.
What if the Macbook will not connect automatically to the 5Ghz network because the 2.4 stream may be slightly stronger. Is there a way to force macbook to connect to 5Ghz?
Yes, use the option to assign a separate wireless network name to the 5 GHz band, and then "point" your MacBook to that network.  The other 2.4 GHz devices will connect to the 2.4 GHz band.

I can't connect to wifi network and bluetooth on iPhone 4S.  Need help.  Have already rebooted everything and reset network setting

I have the same problem; tried a phone restore, both restoring data and setting up as new phone with factory settings, reset all settings, re-boot, remove apostrophe, put in fridge, you name it!
I think there's quite a few iphone 4s users with the same problem!
I called Apple they said it's a hardware problem, but it has worked for nearly two years; they say go to the Apple store and they can provide a replacement phone for approx. £150!
I've been into the O2 shop where I bought it and they knew the problem exactly; said they had sent a few phones off for repair and had them back awith a report they cannot fix it because it's a software problem!
An assistant in the shop had the same issues; logic says it's a software problem and hopefully Apple will fix it with a patch but at the moment they seem to be avoiding everyones comments!
If anyone else has any ideas these would be appreciated?

I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic.  And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4, so it appears my headset mic is fine.  I can also use voice activated dialing, although it fails miserably interpreting numbers.  However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic.   I just get barely audible static.  Any suggestions?   Thanks.

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.
    Thanks!

  • MacBook pro, snow leopard, iPhone and Bluetooth PAN problems

    Short Version:
I am having connectivity issues connecting my new MacBook Pro (MBP) to the Internet thru a Bluetooth PAN on my iPhone4. This has been working fine for a few days and then today it just stopped working responding that my iphone connection is not available, it's off, too far away or whatever. This is not the case. When I try to connect the iPhone to the MBP the iPhone is saying my MBP is not supported. I can pair the devices, but as soon as I try to connect to the Internet thru the iPhone via the MBP the connection fails.
    Long Version:
I received a shiny new MacBook Pro only a few days ago and I am having Bluetooth Paired networking issues as of today, 2nd, March, 2011. The MacBook Pro is running Snow Leopard 10.6.4, and is brand spanking new, unmodified, factory defaults.
The iPhone(s) I am using are iPhone 4's with iOS 4.1
On the first day I paired the MBP with both iPhones with ease, it was so easy my grandparents could have done it. So point and click and it just worked....
The iPhones are set up in iTunes with names similar to dave1 and dave2
On the MBP I can select which device I want to connect to the Internet by going to the Bluetooth icon and connecting to whichever iPhone I have handy at the time. Since the plans are limited connectivity, I do load share between the two.
Today, for no apparent reason, I have been unable to connect to my wife's phone just getting a basic "The Bluetooth network is unavailable" message telling me the iphone is out of range, not on, etc etc etc. Not true.
No problem, I just connected to my phone instead. Occasionally I tried her phone again, but it just never worked. I eventually got her to reboot it, still no joy.
Then, a couple of hours ago, while in the middle of reading my rss feeds, my Bluetooth connection dropped out. My phone is sitting right next to the MBP. So that's not the issue. No amount of reboots of either the MBP or the iPhone have fixed this. I have unpaired and repaired the devices (on both phones) countless times. I have removed the sim card and rebooted, I have disabled and reenabled Bluetooth on both, rebooting before doing this, and after and during, I have reset network settings. Nothing I try is working here.
Pairing alone is an event, but here's an example of what's happening:
I go thru the motions, the MBP shows me a number (eg, 451234) and the number is displayed on the iPhone. They see each other. The numbers are the same. Good. I click PAIR on the iPhone and MBP and everything appears good. But then if I go to connect to the iphone on the MBP I get the out of range error.
I have made both discoverable, and tried to connect to the MBP from the iphone, and got a different error message altogether: Connection Unsuccessful - "{insert my name}'s MacBook Pro" is not supported. W-T-F? It was an hour ago? What has changed?
Then, the only option on the iPhone is to "Forget Device". ok, forget it, and start again. Same same.
Neither the iPhones nor the MBP have been upgraded or changed in anyway today, or even recently. In fact, as mentioned earlier, I was actively using the connection without any issues for a number of hours when it just stopped for no apparent reason.
Not that these matter, but I am in Thailand (live here for the time being), I'm on the TrueMove network, which offers 3G coverage in my area (Patong Beach).
This could easily have been filed under MacBook Pro, iPhone, OSX and possibly many other discussion headings, because the issue can be any or all of the OS, the MacBook Pro Bluetooth adapter, the iPhone Bluetooth, (iOS for that matter), or some other unforeseen conditions...
My head is sore from pulling my hair out. I am open to any suggestions (reasonable or otherwise!)
For further info (not that this post is long enough already, or anything, but), I thought it was interesting that the phones didn't fail at the same time, so I pulled out an old iPhone 3GS and set it up, but after pairing, the two can still not connect.
I know its not an issue with the data plan on the iPhone since I'm here surfing now without an issue, so it's not a data problem.
    Open to ideas....
If you've read this far and you're ever in Phuket, give me a call... I'll shout you a beer

Ok, now I do wish I could edit....
I forgot to APPLY the network settings for the USB cable to work. Connected thru USB I can tether.
So, I kept playing, and playing some more...
I had previously unpaired everything, and gone as far as removing network devices HOWEVER...
I didn't remove the Ethernet, Firewire or Airport Network devices.
Now, I have done so. I REMOVED EVERYTHING
    No pairing, no network devices.
Bluetooth was already turned off, and I rebooted.
I turned off tethering and rebooted the iphone.
I turned on bluetooth (on the MBP), I turned on tethering. I browsed for the iphone. It said I was already paired???? Ok, repair AGAIN, and THE IPHONE SHOWED MY BLUETOOTH TETHERING BLUE BAR at the top of the screen!
I opened a web page, no go... d4mn, I was close...
Opened network preferences and the created a new bluetooth PAN and voila! Internet back on the MBP. I am about to reinstall the ethernet and airport (I can live without firewire for now) and see what happens.
Basically, the link I posted two posts ago, I had already done that, but I NEEDED to remove ethernet, firewire and airport as well...
So MAYBE it's fixed, we'll see for how long. I'm not going to mark this as answered for now, because basically, it has failed for no reason, and I want to know why...
Hopefully someone can come up with something, but having to delete and reinstall all pairings and network devices (to me) is not really a solution, it's a workaround (at best).
