IPhone 2G, 8GB & 16GB question

Real quick...
Other then hard drive size, is there any physical differences between the phones (dimensions, etc) or are both phones exactly the same size and weight?
Thanks.

According to everymac.com (or everyipod as they use for the iphone/ipods) they're exactly the same:

  • New iPhone 4 8gb storage questions!!!!

My mom just ordered me a iPhone 4 which is in the 8gb. I love music and im basically worried I won't be able to download all of my music. I understand that I can find ways to take stuff off my iPhone and add more things, but I don't know how. I also am just worried in general. Please help!!! Give me your feedback on iPhone 4 and the whole 8gb situation. Thank you so much!!!! :):)

While the 8GB phone does not have a lot of capacity for storage of music, there are a number of other options, such as iCloud to hold some of the music. While waiting for the phone, why not check out the User Guide for information at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

  • Upgrade iPhone 3G 8GB to iPhone 3G 16GB

    Hi All,
I am a current user of a black iPhone 3G (8GB), and I've decided I would like to upgrade to an iPhone 3G (White, 16GB). I was wondering if anyone has experience doing this, or if it is allowed by Apple. I bought my iPhone 3G the day it was released in mid-July, but was wondering if it is a simple (or possible) process to go to the Apple Store, purchase the white iPhone 3G for $299, and then sell my current black iPhone 3G. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply, that does make sense. Though I do have to say, doesn't that seem like poor business sense on Apple's behalf? Instead of Apple making $299 from me, they're making $0 (I most certainly will not pay $499 for the 16GB). You would think they would make an exception for customers who have already purchase iPhone 3Gs, and are looking to upgrade further. It's not like the demand is SO high that I'd be taking a product away from another potential customer, so I guess I have trouble understanding why Apple wouldn't be willing to cooperate. But, I guess that's a battle I won't win. Again, thank you for the reply!

I ordered the new Iphone 6 and it will ship on 10/31, on 10/15 I completed the paperwork to return my iphone 4 8GB, but it appears when my paperwork was emailed to me and I didn't notice until today.  It has my return phone listed as an iphone4 16GB...is this going to be an issue?  I was quoted a trade in value of $200 and need to apply this to my iphone 6, if the trade in is not going to be $200 I need to cancel.  I did call the verizon store today and the woman told me it should be no problem, but I keep hearing horror stories about this trade in program and I need to be sure.

    susan522,
Congratulations on the purchase of your new iPhone 6. Ordering a new device can be very exciting and we understand wanting to be able to get your hand on it as soon as possible. With the trade in program the device that is being returned should indeed match what was selected at the time the trade in was processed. What we can have you do is reach out to our trade in team to see if this will cause any problems with the amount you receive once you turn in the iPhone 4. You can reach them here http://vz.to/1pJQcUb by clicking in the "How do I contact you" section. It will allow you to send an email to the team that handles the trade in requests personally.

  • Upgrading iPhone 3G 8GB to 16GB

What is the process of upgrading an iPhone 3G 8GB to 16GB?

If you go past the 14 day return period you will not be able to return it and pay the difference for the new phone, you would need to sell yours on eBay or Craig's list and then pay $499 or $699 for the 16GB, depending on AT&T and contract issues.
Why would you buy the 8GB if you knew you wanted the 16GB?
Either find some other way to get the money in the next 8 days or live with the phone you have.
And you port over your data when you set it up on your computer.

  • ITunes thinks my iPhone 4 8GB has 16GB

When i plug both my iPhone 4 8GB and iPad 2 16GB iTunes thinks my iPhone have 16GB (~14) storage instead of 8. This results in me not being able to sync either, says I'm out of space and tries to sync alot more than I am. Think iTunes confuses my iPhone for the iPad.
Both are iOS 5.0.1 and iTunes is 10.5.1.42. I rebooted both the iPhone, iPad and iTunes aswell, and I'm running Windows 7 32-bit.
    Any tips?

    Resetting didn't affect anything.
I haven't done anything different or changed the library.  Like any other day, I just took it off of the cradle this morning, went about my business all day and put it back on the cradle when I got home.  But now, instead of synching, it says "This computer has previously been synched with an iPhone or anohter iOS device"  and wants me to restore from a backup.
The backups it is showing me (there are 4) look suspicious because it says "last backed up: 10/16/2011 8:18 PM" but I set iTunes to back up the phone every time I dock.  So something is definitely not right with the backup.  Consequently I don't want to restore from backup until I know what happened to the latest backup.

Thank you for the answers so far, but I'll make one correction: I said earlier that the Boston Globe website, boston.com, does not have a mobile site, and I would need to visit their regular website on my iPhone. Actually, I just found out that boston.com has a mobile site, so I'd obviously use that instead of the regular site. By doing that, I'd save a ton of data (I think). Does that change your answers?

  • Question for my iPhone 3G 8GB

why does my iphone 3g 8gb don't download whatsapp messenger? It says it needs ios 4.3 update that doesn't appear on the app store when i try to download. whats the use of having an iphone if am strugglin to download whatsapp messenger?

The developers of WhatsApp no longer support the iPhone 3G. It is what it is. If you want to use that app, you'll have to upgrade your phone.

  • Cracked iPhone screen...questions re replacement

Ok Ive had my Verizon iPhone since February...yesterday my worst iPhone fear came true...I dropped my iPhone about 4 ft onto cement in 30 degree weather... Over half the screen was really cracked...I have a 32gb so I think vzw charges a $199 deductible...so I found this shop that replaces cracked iPhone screens...he told me the labor itself would only be about $30-40 but then he looked the part price up in his book up to his iPhone 4 CDMA parts guide & mumbles something like "digitizer" & blah blah then tells me the part would cost $150...I asked him what if I brought him the part would he still did it & just charge for labor...he was very nice and said he would do that.
Then I went online & googled iPhone 4 replacement assemblys & saw them for as low as $25 the I saw some for $55ish but nowhere near $150...is there a legit reason why he would charge this price...is the what an apple OEM screen replacement assembly costs, & I was looking at all non-OEM products? What are the downsides, if any, to replacing the iPhone screen with a non-OEM..are some of the features absent, like the oleophobic coating?
So I guess my question is what does an "iPhone screen replacement" assembly include? Besides the screen itself  & a "digitizer" (not sure what that is) and how do I know which ones are trash out there & which ones are good? Would you advise any non-OEM product at all?
Please give me any info you have on screen replacement packages, & possibly where I can purchase one that won't be garbage. Oh & also if it says it is meant for CDMA model...should I assume it is going to be the glossy version?
    Thanks!

So if I'm clear here you have thus far paid $109.90 for insurance and after paying another $199, for a total of $308.90 Verizon will replace your iPhone? Or, as has already been noted you can pay $149 at an Apple Store and get a replacement with a 90 day warranty.
I have no idea why in the **** you are paying for that insurance. I would talk to a Verizon rep about it before doing anything.
when you put it that way, yeah verizon is totally screwing everyone who has iphone insurance with them
this is right from verizon wireless website:
soooooooooo laaaammmmeeee.....I love verizon...but this is clearly called "taking advantage of ignorant consumers." When I had a regular ol' phone & even up to my blackberry it was 6.99/mo for the asurion coverage and a $50 deductable if damaged or stolen, which was totally worth it, but this is not that-clearly. gouge gouge gouge....prices ever increasing....& it's only up to the consumer to keep abreast of the price hikes....

  • IPhone 6 Plus 16GB Storage

I bought today an iPhone 6 Plus 16GB and noticed that out of the 16GB 1.3GB were already used and that 10GB is free. When I had iPhone 5 16GB it had 14GB free.
Is there anyway to retain the space?

I know that a portion is for the OS. But it under the storage it shows 1.3 GB used and 10GB free. There is at least 2GB missing. Now with some apps installed I have 5.4GB used and 6.4GB free. Thats 11.8GB, so the OS is 3-4GB in size?

  • IPhone 3G 8GB - cant download IOS 4.0.2 from iTunes

Hi there. I have an iPhone 3G 8GB.
I have been unable to download IOS4.0.0/4.0.1/4.0.2 in iTunes. It comes up with download error 9006.
I have Windows XP with SP2 and use iTunes 9.2.1.5 and use the Safari 5.0.1 (7533.17.8) and Firefox 3.6.8 browsers.
I have no firewall running and have tried to use iTunes over a WiFi and wired Ethernet connection.
The problems started in June 2010 when my WiFi stopped working. The iPhone says:
No WiFi. Not sure if these are related.
    Has anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks

I got similar problem with my iPhone 3G 16gb.

If it's 8GB then the 6.76 definitely sounds about right.

  • I have purchased iphone 4 8gb in india. i have heard that when the company stops manufacturing the current phone, they replace it with 4s. is it true?

i have purchased iphone 4 8gb in india. i have heard that when the company stops manufacturing the current phone, they replace it with 4s. is it true? can i get it replaced with iphone 4s 16gb or can i get it upgraded with iphone 16gb because 8gb is very less memory for me coz it hangs up all the time and apps dont work properly. any scheme where i can pay a bit and get it exchanged with any of them?

Probably not.  If you want to purchase a new phone, then you'll have to sell your old one to fund your purchase of a new phone.
As for iPhones, the phone that they will stop making is the iPhone 5.  This will not be made or sold any longer, because it has been replaced by the iPhone 5c and 5s.  You should still be able to get and iPhone 4 and 4s, although the iPhone 4 is old now in technology standards.
To get a new phone though, you will likely have to sell your old phone to fund the purchase of a new one.  This is what most folks do.
