  • My iphone 4 wont start.

My iphone 4 wont start..Last night when I slept, it had 18% battery and when i got up, it had switched off..Now i've been trying t start it for nearly 2 hours but it wont do..Ive tried resetting it for 20secs,30secs 1min..nothing helps..Im currently running windows 8..
In addition i would add that when i connect my iphone to my laptop, it makes a sound (reffering that it connected), but when itunes open up, it shows an error..
    Please suggest something.

try putting it in recovery mode and restoring it. first hold down power button then hold down home button at the same time for about 10 seconds, then itunes should say something like "detected an iphone in revocery mode" , then restore it. maybe it will help

  • IPhone 4 wont start, wont charge

my iphone 4 wont start , it gets stuck on the apple logo and even if plugged in for a day or 2 it says charging but it stays at the same red level. it just doesnt turn on or go into DFU.

I had a similar problem this morning with my phone, after many hours on you tube, and searching help files, I tried something and it worked....I was ready to toss the phone, thankfully I had the patience to keep at it.  here is what I did.......I connected the phone to the computer with itunes open......Hold down on the power button at the top of the phone, and the home button on the front at the same time, hold it there for 10 seconds, the phone will shut off, after 10 seconds, let go of the top button but continue holding the home button for an additional 10 seconds......it will seem that nothing is happening, but after a few moments you will see some activity on your iphone.  The page in itunes will pop up and ask if you want to update or restore the phone, choose restore, it will erase everything on your phone, but it will reset it to the factory settings, once you click on restore, you will be prompted to accept the agreements etc, then the restore process begins, that part took about 30 minutes, once that was complete, itunes then began syncing my phone, and everything I had lost was put back....its been working fine ever since....the problem I had is exactly what you explained in your question.....with the phone acting the way it is, it wont hurt to try, and it did work for me.....   good luck....

  • IPhone 4s wont start-it's showing the iTunes symbol and the charging cable symbol

My husbands iPhone 4s wont start-it's showing the iTunes symbol along w/ the charging cable sumbol. I tried to press on the two buttons at the same time and only the sumbols reappear. I'm afraid to plug it to the laptop since my information-my back up is on that laptop. What do u reconmend?

Your iPhone is in recovery mode and because a reset did not resolve the issue you are left with plugging the iPhone into a computer with iTunes and restoring it to factory settings.

  • IPhone 3GS Wont Start

So.... I live in England, I recently visit Ireland where I turned on my iPhone. It wouldnt connect to a mobile network whilst I was in Ireland and even showed a message saying, IMEI not recognised.
So, I get back to England tuen on my phone and it wont connect (im on Orange).... I plugged it into my laptop and did a restore and it then brought up message saying there is a problem with your iPhone, please contact Apple.... So... Contact apple, they want £50 to look at it... So I go to Orange, they say its an Apple issue....

  • Iphone 5 wont start.

my iphone 5 wont power up. i have tried several apple chargers and none will work it wont start. my warranty runs out in 3 days and cant get to a store in time. anyone know the problem and a cheap and easy fix? or if my warranty will over run if i phoned and said it was broke? not dropped or wet just purely broken randomly.

    Hello Craig,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone 5.  I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not powering on.  I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this.  I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.

im having difficulty with this iphone 4s. It wont startup successfully. it only hangs up until the APPLE sign appears with black background and nothing happens after. I tried simultaneously holding the sleep wake button and the home button yet still the same, nothings happen. I tried connecting iphone with itunes but an error occured stating " itunes could not connect to the ipjone because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the iphone before it can be ujsed with itune", but how can i put the passcode if the phone wont start until it requires passcode? help please :-)ij

Your only option is to factory restore it. Follow this link. the insturctions are same for MAC and PC
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=367
You will lose all the data after restore. if you had ever back up your phone through itunes than after restoring to factory settings, iTunes will give you an option to restore from back up that way you will get all your data back. Good luck

  • Iphone 5 wont start after standby

My iphone 5 screen went with blck/wite vertical stripes. After one month going to flat battery and charging it restarted. Now every time goes to standby it wont start. Only by rebooting. Does anyone know how to fix it? Is it a iOS 7.0.6 sw problem? YOur help is very much appreciated as my phone is out of warranty for a month :-(

    Hello Duartesilva,
It sounds like you are unable to turn the phone back on normally and must reset it to get back to your home screen. I recommend starting creating a backup of your device to iTunes with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And restore it from your backup with this article:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

If it is a software issue, these steps will resolve it.

  • My iphone 4 wont start/load

i turn it on and it shows me the iphone starting up logo but wont take me further than that
i have tried charging it and connecting it to my laptop/itunes
i have also tried keeping turned off for some time but nothing seems to be working
i would really appreciate some help!

If you decide to Restore your iPhone to get it working then follow these simple steps. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This can take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click the Restore Button of iTunes.
If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • Iphone 4 wont start, says connect to itunes but nothing happens

Hi, i woke up this morning and my Iphone 4 was at only 27% charge and saying my phone needed to be rebooted in itunes. The moment i unplugged it, it completely shut off. When i plug it in to the computer nothing happens and it wont pop up on itunes or show any sign of power. When i plug it into the wall the apple logo comes up and stays for about 20 seconds than disappears for the same amount of time and repeats. I cant use the buttons to restart, already tried that.

  • IPhone 4 wont start. Screen remains blank and buttons are unresponsive unless its connected to mains or PC, when an Apple LOGO appears. Only on mains displays IOS 6, update, connect to iTunes. On connecting to PC just displays apple logo on and off.

    Header 1
    Header 2
iPhone 4 screen remains blank and only the apple logo appears on and off when connected to mains or PC. Only on mains occasionaly proceeds to display IOS 6 logo and a slide sign to start recovery which proceeds to an instruction to connect to iTunes. Hwever, as soon as disconnected from mains (in order to connect to the PC) screen goes totally blank again. On connecting to PC the Apple LOGO starts appearing intermittently but does not proceed to display IOS 6 LOGO. I have recharged overnight and followed resetting instructions as per the iPhone support page. Any suggestions (short of taking it to a service centre) ?

did you get any help regarding the problem?? because even i have the same problem!!! guess it all started after updating to iOs 6

  • My iphone 4 wont start or even go into recovery mode. Help?

My iphone was working fine until I went to check something on the phone and it wouldn't turn on.
I tried all the common things to fix it:
    1) I pressed and held the power button to restart it in case it had shut down.
    2) I pressed the home and sleep button to force shutdown
    3) I tried charging it on my dock (eventhough at last check the battery was at more than 90% moments before)
    4) I connected it to itunes on my macbook.
    5) I disconnected it and pressed and held the home button before connecting it again to the mac to enter it into recovery mode but it still wouldn't start.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

Connect your USB cable to your computer but not to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until step 3.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button down, connect the USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. When this screen appears, you can release the Home button:
Note: If the image of a battery appears, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again. If you don't see the Connect to iTunes screen, try these steps 1 through 4 again.
iTunes should automatically open and display the following message:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."Note: If iTunes not open after two minutes, please open iTunes yourself.
Use iTunes to restore the device.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • My iphone 5 wont start up even after i tried holding the home and start up button!

Can someone please help me figure out whats wrong, or do i need to go to the apple store?

I assume you have connected it to a power source to recharge the battery.
Otherwise, be sure you have done the following completely...
    Reboot the device.
Shut down the device by holding the sleep/wake button  and the home button at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting
