Iphone 3 not charging or connecting to laptop
Hi, my mate has brought his iphone 3G to me to see if i could assist with problem.
when the phone is plugged into the mains on charge the apple symbol apperas and is there for some time before anything happens.
It then dissapears and when you press the home button on the front it says ios 6 and slide bar saying set up.
The top of the page is saying searching and there is battery symbol.
upon sliding thebar it requests connect to apple i tunes. upon removal from charger everything instantly goes off and upon connection to laptop via lead nothing ever happens. after a while the apple symbol flashes slowly but this is the end of things.
the laptop/itunes donot reconise that phone is plugged in.
Does anyone have any answers for a fix or is the phone finished????
The phone was working as normal before any problems, he took it into store and they said liquid corrosion which is not right.
Charge the iPhone to a wall outlet.
Try a different USB cable.
Try different USB ports.

Iphone not charging or connecting to mac or PC
I have a new iphone 3GS. It worked perfectly for 3 weeks then I got a message that I had a USB power problem on my Notebook. For 4 hours I could not connect to the notebook and later when I went to charge it on the mains itwould not charge either. However, just before I went to sleep I tried to charge from the mains again and it worked. On waking up the battery was down to 30% and not charging. For 8 hours I could not connect or charge, then for no reason it connected to my notebook and charged fully. When I got home however again it would not charge or connect to my imac, notebook, mophie or mains. Tried later and all worked so recharged. When I disconnected, it wouild not reconnect to Imac at first, but after 4 or 5 attempts it did fine. Next day at work it will not charge again or connect. Any ideas of the problem and solution?
Yes, I tried four different cables and two different computers. Electrical charger is also not working.

Iphone not charging or connecting.
Hi - wondered if anyone can help me.
My iphone will not recognise any cable that is connected to it - either from the mac or the wall socket - it will not charge either. there is 20% battery warning when I turn it on as it's gone flat.
I have reset, restarted flicked the mute button etc.
Oddly when the phone is switched off if I connect it to the wall socket it turns itself on - but then nothing - no charging - nothing.
Anyone have any ideas?
BillyLook for a bent pin...use a magnifying glass...look closely...it doesn't take much to create the situation you're in. If its not that, then most likely your dock connector is bad...an Apple store can confirm. If under warranty, they will most likely replace your phone. If out of warranty, they have an out of warranty replacement program, cost is $199.

My iphone 4 is not being detected by any of my computers and not charging when connected to any computer. It will, however, charge to the car or wall. The only change that I can think of is that I downloaded a podcast from itunes directly from my phone. I've since deleted this podcast with no luck. I've restarted both the phone and the computer, still no luck. One computer is running Vista and the other Windows 7, both have the latest Itunes Update. Anyone have a fix for this?
You clearly did not notice that you have joined a USER TO USER COMMUNITY FORUM
This is NOT Apple ,Apple do not read nor do they therefore respond
So if you would like to wind your neck in ........................
try a reset of iPhone and then a restore, best, as new and if it then functions correctly try restoring with your backup -

Why is it that my ipad 3rd gen does not charge while connected to my laptop
my ipad 3rd gen will not charge while connected to my laptop, just beside the battery meter it states not charging.
Beacause the USB port of most computers don't supply sufficient current to properly charge it. It is best to charge it using the supplied power supply.

Ipad wont charge when connected to laptop but charges when connected to wall outlet
ipad wont charge when connected to laptop but charges when connected to wall outlet
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

Why dosent it charge wen connected to laptop
why dosent it charge wen connected to laptop
If the main power cable is not plugged into the laptop, the ipad will charge slower.
If on the laptop your using a lower power setting then "High performance", the ipad will charge slower.
If the ipad is plugged into the laptop and the laptop is in sleep, hibernate or the lid is closed, the ipad will charge slower.
For the fastest charge to the ipad from a laptop, leave the laptop plugged in and using the power setting of "high performance" and turn off or do not use the ipad alot while its charging.
If the laptop is turned off but the ipad is plugged into the laptop, it will not charge. The laptop needs to be on. (iphone, ipod are the same also) -

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Iphone not charging from jaguar ipod dock in car
i have a jaguar x-type 2003 with the audio connectivity module added on. It has a dock connector. When I attach my iPhone, it prompts airplaneode and says it is an unsupported device. If I click no to airplane mode, it works through the stereo to listen to music. However, the iPhone does not charge while connected. My iPod does charge when connected. Any thoughts on why this would be? Others have experience with this unit? Any advice?
Thanks!Reid Wainess,
There are differences between the iPhone and the iPod when it comes to accessories that provide power, or other functions.
I would recomend contacting Jaguar to see if they have certified the dock as "Works with iPhone", if they have, it should work, and could be an issue with the dock or the iPhone.
If they have not, then not being able to charge is one of the possible issues that may arise. This article gives more information on "Works with iPhone"

My iPod Shuffle will not charge or connect to the computer. I updated iTunes and bought a new charger. Any ideas? Thanks
My question was, when you connect the shuffle to USB, does the light come ON? From the way you answered, I'm not sure if you are answering that question, or saying that the light does not come ON when you move the power switch on the shuffle to the ON position.
Also, what happens when you connect the shuffle to your computer by itself, with nothing else connected to USB?
If you get no response (no light) from the shuffle when you connect it to USB by itself, trying both the original USB cable and a new one that is compatible with the 4th gen shuffle, try connecting something else to the USB port to confirm it is working properly. It would be best to test the USB port with something similar, such as a USB flash drive or external drive. If you can confirm the USB port works properly, it is likely that the cause for this problem is on the shuffle, such as a faulty headphones jack or bad logic board.
If the shuffle is less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty. -

IPod will not charge or connect to itunes
Hello, My name is Perla and I am a proud customer of Apple. I bought my iPod Touch 4G 8G on March 17, 2011. I had no problems over the course of almost a year. Last week, my iPod would not charge or connect to iTunes. I took it to the Apple Store and they exchanged mine for another. Just a couple of days ago, my new iPod had been experiencing the same problem. As of now, it would not charge to my computer or any outlet for that matter or connect to iTunes. I want to take it to the Apple Store and get it checked out but I'm afraid they won't exchange it again, they'll probably charge me and I don't have the money. Any ideas or suggestions?
I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You warranty is istll in effect. The warranty for a replacement iPod is 90 days or the remainder of the original warranty, which ever is greater.

My new ipod 6th generation doesn't appear on itunes and does not charge when connecting to iMac...Any suggestions
If you have a PPC iMac, see KB Article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301733 iMac G5: How to Reset the SMU (iMac G5, the iMac G5 (Ambient Light Sensor), and the iMac G5 (iSight)).
Intel iMac, see KB Article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Your iPod is "new" & still under warranty.
Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase. If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.
Or, take your iPod Nano to your local Apple Store or AASP.
