IPhone 32 GB 3GS TV output with Monster iTV Link

I have used my Monster iTV Link cable http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=3897 to connect my 80GB 5th generation ipod (through the dock port on the bottom) to my Chevy Avalance's AUX Video input via left, right audio and video plug. When using my old ipod and selecting a video it will automatically ask for "TV out" on or off. I switch it to "TV on" and my ipod plays through the cable into my AUX Video input with great video and audio quality in my vehicle. I tried the exact same thing using my new iphone 32GB 3GS and nothing happens. It does not ask to select "TV on" It plays through the iPhone speakers as if it wasn't connected to anything.
When using the mini jack input from my 5th generation iPod and my new iPhone 3GS into the vehicle AUX audio jack input the result is the same. Both play through the vehicle speakers. However, the mini jack audio quality is noticeably inferior to the dock port on the bottom of the devices.
Why don't both play through the AUX video input?
I tried changing the settings in my iPhone (NTSC & PAL) with no luck?
The website for Monster says the cable is for "iPod Video" is it possible the cable is not iPhone compatible?
How do I get my new iPhone to play through the bottom dock port to my left right audio, video, input?

Older video cables are not compatible with the iPhone. The Apple A/V cables are:

  • Monster iTV Link for Macbook- Mini-DVI ports different...

I have been watching movies etc. on my TV through my 14" G4 iBook for the last year using the Monster iTV Link with the mini-DVI end. I recently bought a Macbook and expected to do the same with it, but the mini-DVI ports are a different shape!
I have scoured the internet for some information on different mini-DVI ports but have come up short. Can someone explain why Apple would install a different mini-DVI port on the Macbook? Or not install an S-video?
Regardless of why they did this, I now need a new adapter or Monster needs to make a new iTV Link cable for Macbook. Has anyone seen an iTV link for Macbook? Is there one out there I can use?
I am assuming my other option is to buy the mini-DVI to video adapter, use the audio part of the Monster cable I currently have and get a S-Video cable. However before I acquire more cables and adapters...
Can someone confirm that the the Mini-DVI end of the Mini-DVI to Video adapter is the correct shape (version) for the MacBook.
    THANKS

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It would appear the Monster guy is confused what cable you got. The iTV cable I bought up on Google has the standard round-din S-Video connector found on 15" and 17" Powerbook G4s of the same generation, but I don't think that is found on the 12" Powerbook. What you need is a DVI to S-Video connector to hook up the iTV cable from all indications.

  • Monster iTV Link for 13-inch MacBook and 12-inch PowerBook

Does anyone knows or the Monster iTV Link for 13-inch MacBook and 12-inch PowerBook even work with the imac intel-based mini-dvi port?

I went with the crucial 512 SSD.  It will push your budget just a tiny bit more as with tax and shipping it came to about $834 but oh man what a difference this makes!  My MBP sprang to life with this SDD... Everything simply pops open instantly.

On transferring, I suggest the following:
    Get a copy of SuperDuper
Buy an external case for your internal drive.
Install SuperDuper on your current HD (before swapping)
Perform the HD/SSD swap, so your SSD is in the MBP, your HD is now in the external case.
Plug in the external HD and power up holding down option.  You should be presented with a choice of boot drives (DVD and your external).  Boot off your external.   Once OS is loaded, use Disk Utility to format and initialize your SSD.  BECAREFUL that you initialize the SSD and NOT the external HD!!!
Now run SuperDuper, clone from the external to the internal SSD.  It might take an hour or so to do this.  When complete.  Power down, disconnect the external and reboot.  If you've done everything right your computer should come up on the SSD but basically will look exactly like your old drive.
You're good to go.  Use it a few days and make sure everything is good, then you can format your external and use it for general purpose storage!
I'm not sure this will work on the 13" but these guys:  www.mcetech.com make a bracket that you can remove your internal DVD and install your old HD inside.  This way you have your SSD + your old HD installed at all times.  You move your DVD to an external case.  I did this in my MBP 15 so now I have basically a 1 TB laptop.  My main drive is the SSD but for storage of stuff I don't use all the time I have the HD which is also 512gb.  Pretty cool.  For me I didn't use the internal DVD that much so having it in an external case was just fine.

  • Using Monster iTV Link to connect to 42" Plasma

    I have a 12' G4 iBook bought in October 2003.
I want to use the Monster iTV Link cable to play DVDs from te iBook and display them through my Panasonic Viera 42" Plasma TV.
Are there any issues I should be aware of, or is this a straightforward
    process?
Any advice at all would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kieran

Check out the resolution of your plasma. As i can assume it is wide screen... Also try to connect it via regular monitor cable. Besides this adapter goes with your laptop. It will be much better. DO NOT FORGET THAT YOUR iBook IN STANDARD MODE COULD WORK WITH EXTERNAL TV OR MONITOR IN MIRRORING MODE ONLY. To unlock possibility to work in extended desktop mode you could use SSD (Screen Spanning doctor). Suggesting you to use it as resolution of your laptop monitor and plasma is different.
Ask if something is not clear.

  • Monster iTV Link Cable

    hey there all,
just been reading some posts & thought i'd pass this along. i've been using a Monster Cable to connect my MacBook to my Olevia 26" 16:9 LCD HD monitor/TV. it's the iTV Link cable for the old 12" PowerBook, which also had video out over a mini-DVI connector. the cable is 10 feet long, has a mini-DVI + 1/8" stereo plug on the Mac end & an S-Video + 2 RCA plugs on the TV end. i've set my MacBook for extended desktop & use the external monitor w/ Final Cut Express to display the Canvas. i know it's not the greatest for "real serious work" but to be able to be in bed & work on a project from an external FW hard drive as opposed to going downstairs & firing up the "Big Mac" it's pretty cool, also for watching a DVD on the bigger screen. & once i set the extended desktop it's easier to work in FCE as opposed to sending signal over firewire to my cam/deck then to a TV, because the MacBook sees the TV as 2nd computer display(it shows the desktop wallpaper). the TV is set as follows: resolution 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz(NTSC), millions of colors. the TV is also set @ fullscreen from it's menu. the MacBook is set @ max native resolution 1280 x 800, millions of colors.
i got 2 cables from CompUSA($15.00/ea.) less than 1/2 the original list price. probably because there are no more 12" P'Books & they think they have no market for them & want to get 'em out of inventory. iTV Link cable might also work for MacBook presentations using a Projector.
    hope this helps someone.

  • MMS Has Arrived For iPhone 3G/3GS

The latest 5.5 Carrier Update has been posted on iTunes. With this carrier update it allows your 3G or 3GS to send and receive MMS. To get the new carrier file connect your phone to your computer, start iTunes and tell iTunes to check for updates for you phone. Some things of note:
This only affects 3G and 3GS iPhones. Apple and AT&T do not support MMS on the 2G (First Generation) iPhone. If you have a 2G and are wanting MMS google is your friend.
After downloading and installing the new carrier file turn off your phone. When it is completely powered off turn it back on. This will allow the changes to take effect.
In order to get the 5.5 carrier file your phone MUST be running the 3.1 OS. If you are stilll using 3.0, 3.0.1 OS or your phone is Jailbroken DO NOT upgrade until the dev team says you can. There are other means to enable MMS on your Jailbroken or even Non Jailbroken 3G and 3GS. Once again google is your friend.
MMS is included in your text messaging plan. There will be no additional costs for sending and receiving MMS if you have a texting plan.

No, because I use a Mophie Juice Pack Air.
Gosh, I would never suspect that you are an agent for Xpal! You seem so sincere in your statement that you can't find any information on the XPAL IPOWER FOR IPHONE 3G/3GS PROTECTIVE CASE WITH BATTERY CHARGER.
Sorry pal. It's REALLY obvious since the internet is flooded with you product's information.
Seriously folks. I DO use a Mophie Juice Pack Air and it's awesome and offers more protection than the other battery cases out there. Looks way better too.

  • IPhone TV out w/ iTV Link Monster Cable

Purchased the Monster Cable iTV Link, how do I set my iPhone to use this for watching my movies on my TV? I cannot find any info in the user manual. Please help.

Yes, that is what you need (they also sell a similar, component out cable. I have both of them and they work great).
If you feel like spending another $50 (g) you might want to consider the universal dock as well:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=5B5 90630&fnode=standard/home/shopipod/ipod_accessories/cablesdocks&nplm=MB125G/A
When you plug in the composite video cable to this and then dock your iPhone you can control the playback via the supplied remote. It only does stop/start and FF FB, but it's still very handy for controlling what you see from across the room. It's also easier to simply dock the phone rather than try and connect the composite cable to it.
I bought two of them to pair with my composite and component cables, and it's very very cool to watch videos from your phone on a large TV (I have one connected to a 38" TV and the picture is every bit as good as DVD). The slideshow also works, along with YouTube (but nothing else, so don't think you can simply view Safari through this).

  • I want to set up my new iPhone 4s on my mac but my iPhone 3GS is sync with my pc how do I get my stuff of 3gs

I want to set up my new iPhone 4s on my mac but my iPhone 3GS is sync with my pc how do I get my all my stuff of the 3GS on to the iPhone 4

You should be able to sync your 3GS to your computer and make a backup.  Then connect your iPhone 4S and restore from a backup.  This should effectively move all your data to your new device.  Report back if you have any problems.
If you are wanting to move our data from a Windows machine to your Mac, just let us know.

  • Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem.  When I want to add songs, I get itunes message that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music?

Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer.  But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

  • I tried to update the software of my iphone 3gs while charging with my Macbook Pro. While the phone was restarting after installation, in the setting up my phone menu, it stops midway with a message in itunes on the laptop that there is no simcard.

I tried to update the software of my iphone 3gs while charging with my Macbook Pro. While the phone was restarting after installation, in the setting up my phone menu, it stops midway with a message in itunes on the laptop that there is no simcard.

Then put a SIM in. You cannot activate an iPhone without a compatible Sim.
If your iPhone was hacked/jailbroken the update restore the lock.

  • Whenever I connect iPhone 3GS to sync with Mac sync fails to open

Whenever I connect iPhone 3GS to sync with Mac sync fails to open. Brand new are there any upates I am unaware of?

"sync" fails to open?  Do you mean, iTunes?
If you manually open iTunes, does your iPhone show up in the left column?
    If so...
Click on your iPhone in the left column of iTunes.
Click on the "Summary" tab in the right colum of iTunes.
    Scroll down to "Options"
Select "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected"
    Apply
