IPhone 33GS activation and overseas
Hi
I have a major problem with my iPhone 3GS. Never had a problem until now
It's on the latest firmware
I'm currently in venice Italy and after i had put my phone onto charge
I checked it after 30 min and noticed the apple logo was on the phone and had to force shut down the phone to get it to go past this screen
Now the phone wants to re-activate and trlls me to plug the phone to itunes
but I'm unable to find a pc with iTunes as there is no apple store where I am and not for another 2 weeks
What can I do? I'm in urgent need to use my phone. I'm lucky enough I have my iPad but I do need the phone when I'm in remote areas
So I got to an Internet cafe
Phone won't restore.....I get an error (1) when it does. Can't remember the exact text but says an uknown error has occurred and your iPhone can't restore
Tried it 3 or 4 times and fails right at the end of the restore process
Now can't get it out of recovery mode?
How can I get it out?????
I've tried a few ways and still stays in recovery mode
Do I need to put the phone into dfu mode to know get it to restore or reset to factory settings??

Woke up this morning and looked at my phone. Found an error message saying "iPhone cannot make or recieve calls, please restore through iTunes". So before restoring it I checked the support website to see if there was anything else I could do before I had no other choice than to restore the phone. Followed everything, found the phone still wouldn't work or recieve signal. I restored the phone and now it wouldn't activate, so called Apple and explained to them. Tried everything I was told, (Call my network, original network provider of phone, restore again, try recovery mode, activating with a different SIM card, absolutely everything) and still the phone wont activate. Apple have bent over backwards for me to try solve this but have had no luck, so if anyone else has experienced this and had any luck fixing it can you please share any info with me as I'm now effectively stuck in a contract without a phone or an option to renew the phone or one to put my SIM card into. iTunes also thinks 6.1.3 is the latest software but I have seen users with 6.1.4
The phone is an iPhone 4 16GB originally locked to Orange UK but has been working fine with a T-mobile UK SIM.
I've spent a couple of hours looking on the Internet and had no luck at all so any replies would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.Are there any other errors that you are receiving? The exact error helps. You say it was locked to Orange, did they unlock the device? Or did you do something else to make the device work with the other SIM. There are a number of issues regarding activation, and many deal with trying to activate a device that has been locked to a carrier, hacked to work with another and then locked back when the device is updated. Would any of this pertain to you?

How to define if iPhone was activated and when?
My friend is living in Russia (I myself in Canada). Recently she bought iPhone in the shop. When she opened the box she found an old used iPhone there.
Management of the store refused her to return the product.
She put complains to police. Now she is trying to prove that the used iPhone she received was activated before she bought it.
How she can define when purchased iPhone was activated initially? (She has iPhone ID on the product).
Where she can file a complain about switch of the products? May be Apple is interesting to know about such cases?

Since the phone has a 1 year warranty from the original date of sale, you should be able to tell when the phone was originally sold based on the end date of the warranty.
There's nothing Apple can do about it. The gray market for iPhones is huge and it is not necessarily illegal to re-sell an iPhone that was privately purchased. -
IPhone 4 Activation and Wifi issues... plz help!!!
Alright, I bought an iPhone 4 off ebay and it just arrived today. Initially, the wifi option was greyed out so i figured a restore might fix it, so I restored and updated to 6.1.2. Heres the problem... at the activation screen, wifi still wont work and so it tells me to connect to itunes, but when I do that it gives me an error saying "itunes cannot continue with activation at this time".
What do I do?! I cant return the iPhone now and i'm not sure if Apple will help me?Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?
If the iPhone was sold as unlocked, start a complaint with eBay to
get your money back.
Apple will not help with jailbroken iPhones. -
Can IPhone be activated and used outside the US on other networks?

However, you can ask AT&T to enable international roaming and use it in other countries. If you do not have international roaming enabled, you can still do email and internet browsing when you are connected to wifi in other countries, but no phone service or sms.
Other users report spotty international roaming performance for phone calls and sms. Also, international roaming for phone and data (other than on wifi) is extremely expensive. -

You have to connect the iPod to here computer and restore the iPod via iTunes on the computer. You may have to place the iPod in recovery mode to allow the restore. For rcovery mode:

I was relocating from USA to India using Air India airways. On reaching Delhi, I did not receive my luggage. After 5 days of my arrival, I received my luggage with broken lock and my 2 iphone 4S and one Macbook pro air was missing. All these products were brand new and unopened from box. I filed complained about my missing electronics items but came up with empty handed. All these electronic products are registered in Apple in my name. After 2 months, I came to know by calling Apple representative that one of the iphone4S is active and is using Turkey carrier. I have the IMEI number and the serial number of this active iphone but due to Jurisdiction area limitation, I cannot do anything. Please let me know what I can do at best to alteast find out the complete gang involved in this shameful international electronic stolen item trafficking business. I still wonder how my iphone 4S reached Turkey although my itinerary was from Baltimore to NewYork to Paris to Delhi.
The advisor should not have told you this for legal reasons. There is no way of tracking the iPhones just of finding out which SIM cards were used to activate them and if they were activated at all. Court can authorize Apple to release this information to the count. There is no legal way without involving a judge.

Hi, I went to update my iphone using my itunes site, halfway through i got a message saying reset, make sure that your network is active and try again, the network connection is fine. it will not allow me acces to my phone unless a recovery is done. I have not done any back ups and obviously dont want to lose any information. Please can anyone help

I cannot sync my iphone to my itunes account on the computer. I get the following message: " iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error occured (-3212). Make sure our network connection is active and try again." Has anyone else had this problem?

If my iPhone was stolen and i want to reactive an old phone using that same number for the time being while i waited to see if I could get my iPhone back, would the iPhone still work while i was using a re-activated old phone of mine?
If a new SIM is activated on the same account for the same number, any existing SIMs for that number are deactivated.
Why exactly would you care if the SIM in the missing device still works or not? -
i have iphone 4s (used).
but the seller not give icloud username & password.
after i reset and upgarde ios to ios7. iphone cant activated because i dont have icloud password (as information, find my iphone is activated).
i already go to iphone service center in indonesia, but they cant help me. its so complicated.
any body help me?The only person that can help you is the prior owner with Apple ID and password.
Without that it is completely worthless.
If you can't get the Apple ID and password then return for a refund of your money.

hold sleep / home button until apple logo appears ignoring red slider and
allow to reboot

If the phone is locked to a carrier then you will need the carrier to unlock it And only the carrier can do that.

Do you have access to old emails or could you ask a friend to provide you information about your iCloud ID? If not, do you rember your ID for "Find My iPhone", because it could be the same ID as for iCloud. What about where you purchased it? Otherwise, Apple would be the only one that would know. Since you cannot activate the device to see inside of it, you cannot go to Settings and look at any other information. I would think the seller might be able to provide you with that information if you purchased a locked phone.
