IPhone 3g 16gb Won't activate?

Hello,
I recently purchased another iPhone after my original one I had broke and I had no insurance on it. Anyway I can't seem to get this new iPhone to activate I've restored it and put in my pay monthly sim card but it just seems to sit on the "Waiting for activation this may take some time" screen. I still can't understand why it won't activate , Would it be to do with the fact that its a pay monthly sim the original sim I received when I first got my original iPhone from o2?
Any help on getting this phone to activate is really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
George

Sorry for the double post , Just been down 02 they said they couldn't understand why is wasn't activating and they tried another sim card in there. They think it might be a hardware problem but there not to sure although they did mention they received a email yesterday saying that Apple's activation servers were down and that Apple admitted it has nothing to do with them.

Apple does not use the term "factory unlocked" at all.
You can not activate it without a SIM at all. You will NOT be able to use that phone on any CDMA carrier, including Sprint and Boost Mobile. If you want to use a CDMA carrier, you must purchase a phone made for their network.
If you want to use that phone (assuming it's legitimately unlocked) you will have to use a GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mobile.

  • TS1398 iPhone 3GS 16GB won't locate routers

My iPhone 3GS 16GB, running 6.1.3 won't locate either of my routers unless I'm in the same room as them, and even then the signal varies. My Wife's MacBook Pro, Air and my Mini together with visitor's Apples locate the routers just fine. Anyone got any ideas? I've tried quite a few online suggestions baut all to no avail.

Reboot the router by turning it off for at least 30 seconds. Then turn it back on. Wait until the router indicates a good connection to the Internet then turn on your device.
Also take a look at this Apple support page about troubleshooting Wi-Fi connections.

Still no help, you could have a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple store to have the device examined.

  • Iphone 4s 3g won't activate on cellular network after restore to iOS 8.0.2

After restoring my Iphone 4s to iOS 8.0.2 using itunes, my 3g cellular network (Vodafone) will not work, I have tried to restart, turn on airplane and turn it off etc, but it won't work.

    Hi aceskaterdylanb,
Thanks for the steps you have taken so far to get your cellular back up.  You have taken care of the first several steps in this article. Not sure how far "etc" has gone, but try the further steps here.
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    4. Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
    5. If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
    6. Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still doesn't, contact your carrier to report the issue.
    7. Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    8. Restore the iPhone as new.
    9. Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.

  • IPhone 4 16gb won't charge?

Hey guys, I've had my iPhone for around a year now and up now it's been working great. However as of yesterday it stopped charging, instead of the usual lightning bolt symbol appearing at the battery meter, the plug that usually symbolises the iPhone is fully charged appears - The iPhones battery began to drain to my great annoyance. I tried using different cables I have but they do not work either. I've been attempting to charge the now empty battery for around a day now, it shows that it is charging, but even after 5 hours straight charging the phone does not boot up.
Anyway to the point, my phone is just 1 month out of warranty, so do you have any tips to get the charger/phone working again without buying a new battery?

Have you tried a reset: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (you may have to hold them both down for up to 30 seconds).
If the Silver Apple appears, let it finish resetting, and your Home screen will redisplay.
    Cheers,
    GB

  • IPhone 4S iMessage won't activate? Want to use phone number as iMessage instead of email?

The title says it all, please help.

    ACTIVATING FACETIME AND IMESSAGES
Activating Facetime and Imessages on your phone requires the ability to send SMS messages and depending upon where you are that might be an international SMS.  Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages.  If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)).  Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation.  If that does not fix things read the following articles:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3367
In settings/messages/start new messages from just have phone number checked

  • After upgrading to a new 3GS, my original iPhone won't activate...

After I upgraded to an iPhone 3GS, I restored the original iPhone with iTunes. Now, the iPhone says it's got an invalid SIM in it, and when I plug it into iTunes, it won't activate it. It's basically a brick now.
Was I wrong in thinking I could now use the old iPhone basically like an iPod touch?

I haven't seen any press release that supercedes that, but the one you reference refers to the ORIGINAL iPhone, not a 3G. There have been posts here and elsewhere indicating that the restore/upgrade function no longer works on the 3G once you update to 3GS.
I suppose the original poster can put a phone call in to AppleCare to see if they might be able to get some help from them. I didn't make this rule, I am just reporting what everyone else is seeing, with or without the SIM card in the 3G.

  • HT1414 I dont know why bt ever since I updated my iphone 3gs 16GB to the new 5.1.1 firmware I am unable to activate it with my any sim card, so is there any way to fix this. Im from India

I dont know why but ever since I updated my iphone 3gs 16GB to the new 5.1.1 firmware I am unable to activate it with any sim, so is there any way to fix this please? Is there a solution to activating my Iphone 3gs on this firmware? I purchase this iPhone from USA and Im using it in India. Please help me...

This means the iPhone was hacked to be unlocked. The 3GS was not sold in the US as officially unlocked.
Restoring an iPhone with iTunes that was hacked to be unlocked or installing a firmware update on an iPhone that was hacked to be unlocked re-locks the iPhone to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked when new. In this case, re-locked with ATT.

  • I erased my iPhone data and now it won't activate

My phone was saying searching since yesterday and I did everything from a soft reset to a network reset and nothing then tried to do a hard reset and it wouldn't let me so I went on phone my iPhone and erased it that way and now it won't activate and it still says searching...any ideas??

Check and see if the SIM card is defective.

  • I formatted my iPhone 5 and now it won't activate. I've tried connecting it to iTunes, and I've tried restoring it with Itunes.

I formatted my iPhone 5 and now it won't activate. I've tried connecting it to iTunes, and I've tried restoring it with Itunes.
Im stuck on the wifi screen where you activate the phone. Please help

same here, I was using an ios7 beta version for non developpers and I downgrated it but its stuck where I active it, hope we wont stay this way for too long

  • Hello, i really need help. I had just updated my iphone 3gs to 6.0.1, and after I updated, it won't activate.

Hello, i really need help. I had just updated my iphone 3gs to i.o.s. 6.0.1, and after I updated, it won't activate.I tried it in itunes and it always says " We cannot activate your iphone at this time..." and when I activate using Wi-Fi, it says, "Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable." I could swear that my Wi-Fi is fine, and my Itunes is on the latest version.  Is this a bad thing or does this normally occurs? Can I still fix this ? I'm so desperate to use my iphone cause I use it everyday for personal purposes. I sure would appreciate any tip or help . PLSSSS ! Thank you for that wonderful being that can help.

Do not take it to a third party repair shop - downgrading causes problems and voids your warranty.
