IPhone 3g and audio systems - car or domestic

I wanted to connect ipHone 3g to stereos in house and car. i tried the 3.5mm to 3.5mm solution but then read (i have forgotten where) that connecting to audio systems via the dock (iphone and ipods) gave a better sound.
I bought dock connectors for both 3.5mm audio mini jack and for 2*RCA audio plugs. I have tried them on all systems and there is nothing, nada no sound even though i can see and hear the music on the iphone.
Can anybody confirm where i have gone wrong? I though the the 30 pin dock on the iphone 3g was configured the same as other 30 pin ipods, is this a firmware issue or am i just being stupid?

I am not sure I would recommend the PocketDock for use with the iPhone 3G. I have one and it only works with one of the three iPhone 3G's I have tested it with.
Also, Soundstation's support is horrendous. It takes them forever to reply and they do not acknowledge that their product has spotty iPhone 3G support.

  • IPhone 4: Since iOS5 Bluetooth issues when connected to car hands free and audio system

    Hi @ all,
this discussion is either a kind of "warning" for those who hadn't yet updated to iOS 5 and a beg to Apple for fixing the issue:
Obviously the iOS 5 does have some problems with VW and Ford (germany) modells equipped with handsfree and audio systems (googling a little bit resulted in many, many complaints in german discussion forums about it). Unfortunatelly I'm facing these problems now too:
    Issue 1:
When the iPhone is connected to the audio-system of the car via Bluetooth, the Audio Slider on the iPhone doesn't work any longer. The only thing that it is capable to do is, if you slide it completely to the left, which results in switching the audio completely off.
    Issues 2 (much more annoying):
When the iPhone is connected to the handsfree system of the car, the ringtone volume is obviously set to "off" or at least "extreme low". This doesn't harm when using the phone with the handsfree since the ringtone still is coming from the cars loudspeakers. But as soon as you leave the car and the bluetooth connection is disconnected, the ringtone audio on the iPhone is STILL set to "off". Means: Each time, when you leave your car, you have to increase the ringtone volume manually.
Issue 1 is more a "not nice" or a "OK, it's first release" bug. But issue 2 would have been a reason for me to wait for upgrading to iOS 5, since I'm using my iPhone as a business tool and am quite frequent on travel.
To verify that I hadn't had a bug when upgrading for the first time my iPhone, I completely set my phone back to factory default, put it in maintenance mode and re-flashed it completely anew using iTunes. I only performed minimal setup to make sure, nothing else could cause this. The issue still remained, therefore it was clear to me, it is iOS 5. I never had any of these issues with iOS 3 und 4. A probable "workaround" would be a downgrade, but this doesn't work, as known, either.
@ Apple Engineering: Please fix this as soon as possible!
    Cheers,
    Frank

Good question... I haven't found a "reliable" way of sending constructive(!) Feedback to those at Apple who really care. I remember the beginning days of Mac OS X, when the reply-link was even on top of the dock.
Maybe I'm just not aware of working feedback channels, I only can hope that some of Apple's people with "influence" read statements like this...

  • Pair iphone 4S and audio at the same time in 2011 Corolla.

My car bluetooth will only pair my phone OR my music not both.  When I try to pair both I get a message on my phone:  Make sure 'car multi-media' is turned on.  It looks like either the car or the phone's bluetooth cannot find the other.  It just keeps searching.  Is this message for my phone?  Toyota says I need to have the navigation system in my car to be able to pair both at the same time.  I got the feeling they just said this because they couldn't answer my questions.  The dealer thinks I should be able to pair both simultaneously.

If what Toyota told you, then their system is IMO, junk. Works just fine in my Kia without a nav system. Of course, there are many reports of compatibility issues with Toyota and Lexus audio systems and a number of phones. You may just need an update.

  • IPhone 5 and audio output

Hi, I read on internet that iPhone 5 has low volume in headphones, compared to previous iPhone 4 and 4S.
So: I would like to buy an iPhone 5 64GB, the biggest size, because I'll use my phone also as a portable music player (with headphones) and also as a stereo with external speakers.
Culd you tell me if this is true? And also: someone told me that iPhone automatically recognizes if I plug in headphones or speakers, playing a higher volume with speakers than headphones.
Finally, I live in Europe and other people told me that in Europe volume is still lowest due to EU cap...
Please help me, I'm a bit confused!

Are you talking about the speaker or using the phone with headphones?
It should be the same if not better.

  • Iphone durability and apple one care practice - complete ripoff

I bought my iphone 1 year ago with an apple one care (ATT store sales told me that it covers even a scracth). I was made fool, agreed.
I dropped my iphone just couple of feet from the ground (while trying to put it into my pocket) and the screen shattered.
Called apple one care, they said it won't be covered.
    My first problem is
    1. iPhone cannot handle a 2 feet drop? what kind of durability testing they did?
    2. I never used my apple one care, when i called for support....it won't be covered...NICE...I paid 90 bucks for nothing...
I was a great apple fan...after the customer service call...I see an organization, great product....going down in the drain...If they don't listen to the customer....I see another Toyota story coming -:))

    Hi there,
Don't despair! There are some solutions for you. But yes, you wasted $90.
Good news is you likely won't have to buy a new iPhone at full cost. It's going to cost you $199.00 (better than $599 / $699 however!)

And if you want a new phone asap, it's an extra $29:

  • IPhone 5S with ios8 fail to connect my Bluetooth car audio system

    Dear apple users and developers,
I have read many threads about this issue mostly for iPhone 5 (ok i have the 5S) perhaps this makes a difference. With the ios7 i had no issue and always connected to my MHV-8300BT Pioneer device in my car. After update, when i get connected, i says "Calling My number" and when i push the button on my device to answer it drops the line, it keeps the connection but i do not hear, speak. Then i have to change the source voice system and i set the speaker or the iPhone.
On my fathers Bluetooth, a Motorola, it works, at the beginning i made a reset only for the Network settings,
Do not know what else to do
    Thanks for reading my post

  • Iphone 6 iOS 8.1 no longer playing properly with car audio system

    Hi there,
I have an iphone 6 running ios 8.1 and it is no longer allowing me to play/pause songs through the car's audio system. I have a USB port in the car that allows me to plug my iphone in and control the Music through the car audio system.
    I have a 2011 Holden Cruze.
Prior to the iOS upgrade, the function worked fine.
Bluetooth connectivity is still OK and if I control the music via the iPhone it will play.
Is anyone else having this issue and are apple aware of it?
    Thanks.

    Hi Darren,
I'm experiencing the exact same issue with my Volkswagen Golf 2015. Since the update I'm unable to use the play/pause button. When I press the button while my phone is connected through the MDI cable it does nothing. But if I use Bluetooth I can control it without issue. That said, in my car I don't want to use Bluetooth while I'm playing music because I want to charge my iPhone at the same time so I need to use the cable. I think this is a really issue and Apple should advise.
    Update:
I did a full restore without using a backup of my old phone. Oh surprise... It seems to work now. But the worst now, is that I have this album of U2 showing in my playlist. I don't know if it's related, but that album was not showing when I used my back-up the first time. Seriously, I think Apple succeed at messing up enough with iOS 8.1 and this U2 album to break the playlist and the playback functionality with cars and radios.
To resolve the issue I tried:
Restore to iOS 8.1 with back-up - FAILED
Restore to iOS 8.1 without using any back-up - SUCCEED but fail at the same time because I need to re-setup my iPhone manually and try to get rid of this U2 album.
