IPhone 3G: Automatic send/receive notification (wha happened to auto-check)

Anybody know where the auto-check feature for emails is for the 3G? I don't get email alerts every XX minutes with the new 3G. I have to login to the mail app every time to check, which *****!

I would also set the Push to Off, so that your phone won't be waiting for new messages all the time. Also set the fetch time to an hour or manual. Here is an except from tiphub:
This is another battery saving tip, if don't need to get your emails immediately using Yahoo, Mobile Me or have setup your corporate Microsoft Exchange, then disable push by going to Settings > Fetch New Data > Set Push to Off. Emails will then be based on the Fetch time below on the same screen.
Set the fetch time for the email to an hour or manually to optimize your battery life the most.

  • Troubble with outlook: Automatically Sending/receiving 600+ tasks

    Hello!
    A customer to me is having some troubble with outlook 2010 automatically sending/receiving...
    His outlook is set to automatically send and receive but the problem is that sometimes it performs over 600 tasks (see picture). this problem occurs a coupple of times per week and is quite frankly annoying. 
    The solutions i have tried so far are:
    Turn off all programs and restart the computer.
    Search the computer for virus/malware.
    Looked for a datafile that could possibly make this happen.
    Made sure that Cached exchange-mode is off.
    Asked him to replace his keyboard if that might be the issue. (not configrmed yet though)
    Create a new outlook profile.

    Hi Joakim,
    Does it take long time to process Send/Receive in Outlook 2010? Please do the following changes:
    1. Check whether there is any Anti-virus in the machine scanning all incoming and\or outgoing mails. If it is, please disable it.
    2. Launch Outlook 2010 into safe mode, so that no COM Add-ins are loaded. And run Send/Receive and try to reproduce the behavior:
    Click Start | Run | On the Open: line type (without quotes) “Outlook.exe /safe” | Click OK\Enter
    3. If the issue continues in Outlook safe mode, please change a computer to configure the account to have a try.

  • Outlook 2013 - "schedule an automatic send/receive" NOT functioning

    Here is yet another bug in Outlook 2013 which remains at large.
    Yes, "schedule an automatic send/receive" is not functioning, except in the case of Hotmail/Outlook.com
    The only time new emails  are getting download are when the Send/Receive button is clicked, or when the inbox of the account is selected.
    Other than that Email is not getting checked/downloaded every thirty minutes as it is setup to do.
    Oh, and please none of those generic "create a new profile" answers.

  • Iphone 4s wont send/receive text messages.

    my iphone 4s isnt sending/receiving text messages. when i try to open messages it just says "messages" at the top and then it is a blank page underneath. all of my previous texts were also erased. i updated to IOS 8 2 days ago but the problem just started today.

    Text messages are a vital part of a working phone. We encourage you to reset your device. Please back everything up via iTunes or iCloud. Then go to Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings. This will reset the phone and correct anything that maybe causing the issue.

  • Iphone 4 automatically sending nuisance/ viral e-mail messages from my yahoo account to members of my phone/ e-mail/ facebook contact list. What can I do to stop this?

    This has occurred on 2 different occassions. In both cases, I can not identify a viral email that I would have opened that could have started this as we are very cautious about opening unknown emails, and definately NEVER double click on links that come through in nuisance/ spam type e-mails.
    This morning was the second time that it appears my iphone was somehow involved in automatically sending out a mass nuisance message to all my contacts (phone contacts/ facebook contacts/ yahoo contacts).  The email contained no message - except for a single link to an unknown destination of course since I refuse to dbl click on it to see what I have sent out to my friends.
    This is the second time it has happened. I have posted on facebook to all my friends to not open the message. I have deleted ALL my contacts from both my phone and from yahoo contact list. I even deleted facebook and all it's info. from my phone to remove their contact lists. I don't want this to keep happening to my friends. The only thing I haven't deleted is my phone contacts (phone numbers) but I am assuming it may very well happen again since the automatic message was also sent to my phone contacts. (Not sure how that even happens - an auto email to a phone number?)
    I have been reading on this site that it is nearly impossible to get a virus on your iphone - however, what other explanation is there? I don't have a PC - I don't have any Windows products in my home. We own 1 ipad and 2 iphones at the moment. I never access my yahoo account from anywhere but my MAC products.  What is happening and how can it be resolved?

    if it's a message coming from your yahoo account, it means that your account has been compromised, not your phone itself. i would suggest changing the password for your email account

    Brand-new iPhone 4 on Verizon can't send/receive texts to other makes of phone.  It will only text to another iPhone. Error message: "Message send failure." Any idea what to do?

    Yes, our plan has unlimited texting...and I was able to text with a friend who also has an iPhone, but not with anyone who has a different type of phone.

    Is MMS enabled in your mobile phone tariff (check with your network provider) and is your phone configured with the correct MMS settings for your tariff?

    iphone 4, at&t carrier, wont send/receive regular text. everything else on the phone works fine. tried everything ive read on here and still nothing works.

  • IPhone can't send/receive photo texts from non-iPhone users

    I've noticed a lot of other people with this same problem and so far nobody has a solution. I've tried resetting my iPhone 4 and was on the phone for an hour with AT&T last night to see if it was a problem on their end as someone else had mentioned. Nope. Basically, I can't receive any photos through text messaging (MMS) and I can't send any photos through text messaging with anyone who doesn't have an iphone. I used to be able to. Not anymore. Doesn't matter if I'm on wi-fi or cellular. I've checked to make sure I've got MMS on. I do. I've reset network settings, we've even switched radio towers to try that. Nothing.

    I'm with AT&T IOS 6 and have no issue with MMS.
    if that link doesn't help, call AT&T back and talk to a supervisor, as messaging is carrier related.  Also make sure you have MMS turned on.

  • IPhone slow to send/receive Rogers emails?!

    There is often a long delay in pushing emails to my iPhone from my Rogers email account.
    When I know there is an email on my server, I hit the reload icon and get the message "Checking for mail..." and nothing is downloaded. Some messages don't show up for hours after I needed them. Even some outgoing messages disappear after hitting the "send" button and never make it to the person.
    The only temporary solution that I have found is to power down my phone and restart it. Once it is restarted the messages are sent to the phone. Should the phone not download the emails from the server every time I hit the refresh icon??
    After I restart the phone it seems to work well for a short period of time when sending and receiving but then seems to have this issue when the phone is on for longer periods.
    Any suggestions??

    Dunno... maybe Rogers email don't have push-mail?
    I was told by a friend of mine yahoo mail has push mail, which will actively push it's email out. I've gotten emails pretty much live, when I push the refresh button or whenever my phone refreshes for email, I haven't had any problems with not getting emails yet, and I do refresh my mail when I know I have mail and it's there.
    Maybe switch to an email service with push mail service if you require mail on your iPhone? Not sure if that is an ideal solution for you or not.

  • IPhone 4 not sending/receiving texts to/from non-iPhone

    I am on a shared plan with my mother. Thursday afternoon my mom updated our plan and suddenly my phone was not sending or receiving text messages to non-iPhones. iMessage is working just fine, thus I can only talk to people with iPhones. It fairly closely correlated to the IOS update so I updated my phone and that didn't help.
    I have tried resetting network setting, hard reset, toying with message settings, *228 options 1 AND 2 etc... and still nothing is working. Please help! I run a business and can not afford to not be able to be in contact with half my contacts!

    Let's get your messages flowing again! Thanks for the doing the troubleshooting you have done so far.  I know that running a business with a fully functional phone is needed. I have a couple things for you to try. First, turn off iMessage, power cycle your phone and keep iMessage off; try sending messages. To run a good test, send the message to your self and please put "1" in front of your number. Also, another step to try is turn off iMessage, then reset network settings, then turn it on and try again. These have been some successful steps. Please keep us posted.

  • IPhone International Keyboard Sending/Receiving

    hi i have an iphone 3gs with newest firmware and carrier. all my messaging and mms works perfectly, however my international keyboard settings (like Chinese or emoticons) do not properly send to my recipient. it looks like it went through, no error or red explanation mark, but i asked and it never went through. this was tested from an iphone to another iphone and the same problem vice versa as well. i've asked apple store and they told me some worked perfectly fine for them and they ask me various questions about my updates and carriers updates and etc. and they didnt know what happened. so i was wondering if anyone would know whats going on without me taking a trip there through the crowded and hard to make appointment around my schedule to the apple store would be greatly appreciated!

    If you are talking about messaging, it may be that the carrier involved does not support unicode or chinese. Can you send chinese email to the same people?

  • Bid Invitation not automatically sending change notification email

    Hello,
    I have the folowing issue with the email output bid invitations in SRM 5.
    In Define actions for document output I set BBP_PD_BID to Processing when saving document.  This work fine for new Bid Invitations, but when I make a changes after publishing no new output is generated for change notifications.
    When I manually select 'Inform bidders and send out bids', the origional email is re-output and not the change version of the smartfotm text ('We would like to draw your attention to the'..... and not "The following bid invitation has been changed")
    Is the auto output of change notifications for bid invitation standard?  I though it was as I saw it set up in a different system.

  • IPhone 3GS - Cannot Send/Receive MSS Messages

    Checked with the carrier and MMS is set up, the 'switch' is set to on for MMS in the iphone settings. I took out the SIM card and tried it in another phone, MMS works on other phone.
    MMS will not work on my iPhone. The status gets to 85% complete, then I get a red exclamation point. Cannot receive MMS either. Hope someone can help.

  • TS3899 IPhone 4S mail send/receive problem

    This has happened three times. After getting the mail up and running it will work for a time and then fail again. We have deleted the account and set it back up. we have deleted and resetup the network settings. We have downloaded and installed all available updates. Each time this has occurred we have been able to the mail back but then it fails again. The mail account is a POP account What causes this? and how can I stop it?
    Below this question box asks about the OS. I know I downloaded an update to the OS but I'm not sure what the version was. I know it is in the 6 range. The phone is a customers and I don't have it with me tonight.
