IPhone 3G Back Case Damaged or Scratched

Hi Just wanted to post this particular topic to see if anyone know's any info on this.
If you have a damaged back case or scratched or if your girlfriend decided to scratch her name into the back of of your iphone 3g.
Can you send your iphone back to apple for a complete new back replacement?
And if so has anyone done so how much does it cost to replace?

Apple would replace the entire phone rather than just the back for a fee. There are third party companies that sell parts and if you're not worried about voiding the warranty, you may be able to replace the back yourself.

  • Are coloured Iphone 4 back cases and Lcd Digitizer screens as good as Apples Original black/white ones ?

I have recently damaged my front screen on my iphone 4 and have been looking into a replacement, i have found several sites which sell coloured iphone 4 lcd and digitizer screens and back cases..My question is will the lcd be of the same standard as the original apple black/white ones...I have asked a tech guy who hasn't fully tested them yet so am wondering if anyone knows what the pixel quality is like when playing videos etc...I am very keen on having a yellow iphone but not at the expense of the screen quality ... any feedbk is welcome

Yea thats what im unsure of ..the parts are available on amazon.com for roughly £50 for a yellow back case and yellow front lcd and digitizer screen giving you a full yellow iphone 4 ...just a ? over the quality of the screen when playing videos etc compared to apples original ones..i think i will just have to bite the bullet and try one to see if it is as good ..if not then i guess im £50 down lol ...thanks for all your feedback tho

  • IPhone 6 leather case damage and colour loss

So I bought the iPhone 6 product red leather case when I got my iPhone, and after a couple months of use it looks pretty bad. Ultimately I'd like to get it replaced for a black one, does anyone know if that's possible or what my options are?

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5s. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • I broke my Iphone back case, and no service center in Indonesia

    Dear Apple Communities,
    I'm from Indonesia
recently I just broke my Iphone 4 32Gb White Back Case
    dropped it accidentally
just the back case, fortunately no other part broken
and no authorized service center in Indonesia
so I couldn't find any genuine spare parts
I'm looking for the genuine back case, I can open the iphone back case myself thou
but my question is, is it sold separately?
since I have relative either from Singapore or Australia
anyway to tell them to sold it separately for me?
I mean like a code or official email from Apple itself
so I have the proof, and can tell the authorized Apple store to sell it to my relative
and they can bring it back when they visit me in Indonesia
    please help me, thx
Why I'm looking for genuine apple parts?
since the non-original one is making my camera blur all the time
the surface also not the same
and the white color is slightly different
    and I dont like it
in short- the original one is the best
so I need to get the original one desperately
    here's the condition
miraculously the lens is okay no single scratch
I'm only looking for the back case replacement, once again help me thx
    sorry for bad grammar

sir, I know that XL and Telkomsel is the two authorized carriers
mine is XL, they cannot fix my only back case
the only deal they will help is only network connectivity
    Telkomsel also cannot
in short neither one of them can provide me with genuine back case
I've checked to the two of them
I even went to the PT.Sinar Eka Selaras service center > Authorized distributor in Indonesia
    http://www.ptses.com/
since this item is genuine from them
and all they can provide me is : Replace whole iphone = buy the new one
and as I told you there is really NO authorized service center in Indonesia
you broke your phone a bit, buy a new one
and I need only the back case
that's why I'm asking whether apple service center in Australia or Singapore can sell it separately
    hope you understand now
If one of the authorized carriage can help me, or the distributor can
why should I seek help here?
here's the deal that this is genuine 100% bought from authorized dealer in Indonesia

  • Is there any way to remove scratches of iphone 5 back and sides ?

Is there any way to remove scratches of iphone 5 back and sides ?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $149. They do not fix yours. I would say not worth it.
      Apple - iPod Repair price
If they are on the screen I know of no way to remove them
If they are on the case then removing the scratches would also remove the coloring. I would get a case and hide them if the scratches are on the case.

  • My iphone has been water damaged and in the mean time ive gone back to using my old phone. But i need to get all the contacts from my iphone i had synced to my laptop, but i don't know where to find them and im not sure if ive backed them up to anything!

If your contacts are synced to your computer then they are in the supported app you are syncing with.
When you set up syncing of contacts on your device, which application did you select?

  • If i want to replace the back case for an iphone 3g and i provide the back case, will Apple do the actual replacement for me?

The black back case on my iphone 3g is cracked. i would like to replace the back case with a new white one. I saw the video on how to do the replacement on youtube and found it complicated. if i take the new back case and the phone to Apple, will the replace the broken back case for me?

Regarding the iPhone 3G, the only repair that Apple Genius does on that device is the Front Screen Replacement. So they could help you get the front assembly back on when you are done with the repair. To give you a better idea, the Genius do not even replace the battery on the iPhone 3G. Apple will not help you with this repair.

would a leather magnetic flip case damage my Iphone???

Here's the leather magnetic case I use.

I've been using it with my Droid X from July 15th, 2010, (launch day) right up until the time I upgraded to my Razr Maxx HD on October 24th, 2012 with absolutely no ill effects on either phone.  The Droid X was carried daily for just shy of 2-1/2 years and my new Maxx HD for almost 3 weeks. I've been using the same holder everyday.   I think it's safe to say you should be good if you use a case with a magnetic latch even with an iPhone.
The only thing I had on my "X" was a screen protector but my Maxx HD has been naked since day one.
    Go for it!!!!

  • IPhone leather case can cause scratches?

    Hi guys!
I just bought the Apple iPhone leather case for my 5s, since i read so many positive reviews about it.
I tried it on, and it feels very nice. No complains about that.
But its really tight fit, so i had to struggle a while to take it off.
My concern is: is it likely that the case can cause scratches on my phone, (especially corners and sides) when i put it on/take it off since its so tight?
I feel like the tight fit could wear/scratch the frame because it take some struggle to remove it?

  • Where can I purchase authentic iPhone 3G housing cases

So, I have a white iPhone 3G, and I'd like to replace it with a black 3G case, because my white one is old and getting scratchy/dirty.
Where can I purchase authentic back case replacements (for iPhone 3G) that Apple Inc. produces, and not some alternative company?
Links, or mentioning the website would be helpful.
    Thanks in advanced, everyone.

There is no legitimate source for original Apple parts other than Apple. If you're not an authorized iPhone servicer, you can't get them. The only "original" parts you will find are gray market seconds (factory rejects or parts sold in violation of contract with Apple by servicers), stolen parts, or parts salvaged from broken phones.
If you must, you may want to look for water damaged or broken phones on e-bay that you can strip for parts.

  • Removing a scratch from the iPad back with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0

Within three weeks of getting my new Ipad and with extreme caution of use, somehow I managed to create a 1" long faint scratch on the back of the unit.  These kinds of scratches are unbelievably easy to make since the back of the unit is only anodized aluminum, a relatively soft metal with a coating that accentuates any scratch.   So I'd recommend anyone who cares about such scratches either put on a plastic coating like ArmorSuit MilitaryShield or get a case over the unit immediately after taking it out of the box (oh, and, by the way, some cases will themselves scratch the unit as will Apple's Smart Cover around the hinges - even if Apple doesn't admit it).
I tried to reduce the faint 1" long scratch's visibility using Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0.  I rubbed the polish with a microfiber towel across the scratch (i.e. perpendicular swipes) for about 15 or 20 minutes applying between moderate to fairly high pressure with my finger.   The scratch was not removed, and that's expected because you really can't remove a scratch unless you reduce the material to the depth of the scratch or fill it with something; neither of which this product does.  Indeed if Meguiar's did reduce the metal surface that much, the anodized aluminum finish would probably be removed and the case appearance completely ruined.  However, Meguiar's reduced the scratch visibility by about 70% to my eye.  I did take pictures to try to prove this, but they are not helpful because the camera's view of the scratch is almost entirely dependent on the angle of it with respect to the flash, so my camera simply cannot capture the real visibility of the scratch.
So did Meguiar's alter the color or nature of the anodized aluminum around the scratch?  Yes, it did, but the effect is so slight that it would hardly be noticed unless you look at the surface at exactly the right angle with respect to the light.  It basically slightly increased the luster where I rubbed. But the small increase in luster is nowhere near the increase a plastic coating results in, so for me it doesn't matter since I plan on applying the ArmourSuit (again).  Other than that there was no real effect on the surrounding surface.
Summary: With a little elbow grease, Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 reduced my new iPad scratch's visibility by approximately 70% and did not damage to the unit in any way.  I recommend it for iPad scratch reduction if you made the mistake of not protecting your iPad, have a scratch, and are obsessive enough to be motivated to reduce it.  Otherwise, I'd just save you money.  Incidentally, Apple has purchased Liquidmetal technology around the launch of the new iPad.  Liquidmetal is a patented amorphous metal alloy that promises the workability required for case molding yet is as strong or stronger than steel, so I suspect Apple's notoriously easy-to-scratch casings are soon going to be a thing of the past.

I decided to do one more treatment to the scratch because I was bored and it sounded like fun.  I bought a Sharpie silver paint pen with extra fine point ( see http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Marker-Extra-fine-Silver-Single/dp/B003JJMW8C ).  I think I paid like $2.50 for this exact pen at Michaels after a 40% rebate (they have them all the time; just print the online coupons).
The marker line was fine but, of course, far wider than the scratch and the color was much darker than the silver when wet.  I let it dry for about a minute (it lightened as it dried to match the unit better), then I took one more drop of the Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0's and rubbed it gently with my finger a bit to remove the paint that was above the scratch, leaving the paint behind only in the crack (do NOT rub this for long or else it can remove all the paint)
The result is that the original scratch went from the 30% of the original scratch noticeably (after the Meguiar's treatment) to about 10%.  Now it is nearly impossible to see unless you are viewing it from just the right angle (i.e. perpendicular to the line).
Attached are two pictures.  I took a shot of the iPad before either treatment and adjusted it in Photoshop to be about exactly how noticeable the scratch was before the treatment (it was still under the ArmourSuit at that time).  Keep in mind that this shot was angled intentionally to maximize its visibility, so this wasn't a super deep scratch.  I then took another shot after both treatments and at the same angle.  Again, I adjusted it slightly in Photoshop to match what I am seeing now (and again the shot is worse than real life - by a long shot).
I think the results shown in the picture are perfectly accurate and pretty much speak for themselves.   I would say the two steps were a 100% successful since I did not think I would be able to reduce the scratch as much as I did given what others were saying online.
Conclusion: you CAN remove iPad back scratches if you really want to!
Here is before (note there is a piece of cat hair on the right, not a second scratch)

  • Changed the back case but now no sound or signal

I have just changed the back case on my iphone 3g i have followed guides on how to do this and then done the reverse to put it back together but now when i turn the phone on i get no signal and no sounds. If you plug headphones in you can hear music etc. Anyone know what i can do?

This is a user forum not a technical one, so unfortunately there probably won't be anybody here who has dissassembled an iPhone.
One could only guess that if it is a loose connection, that the no signal could be caused by an antenna not being connected properly, and the speaker issue being related to the cable for the speaker. Due to all the small parts though there could easily have been some damaged caused during reassembly or disassembly.

  • I changed from i iphone 5 back to a iphone 4.. now my itunes does not recognise that i have a iphone 4! how do i convert my last back up (on iphone 5) to my new iphone 4?

i changed from i iphone 5 back to a iphone 4.. now my itunes does not recognise that i have a iphone 4! how do i convert my last back up (on iphone 5) to my new iphone 4?

In your case you can only restore from a backup that has been created with the same iOS version. An iPhone 4 can only run 7.1.2, and, unless your iPhone 5 did not run the same version, you can't use a newer iOS backup of the 5 on the iPhone 4
