IPhone 3G Charging Dock

Hi all
When my iPhone 3G is in its charging dock which is NOT a Apple model it will not receive/show any new text or calls ;-(
Is this because its NOT a Apple Model or is this noemal ??

The new dock for the 3G doesn't support the Bluetooth Headset directly. If you buy the headset, it comes with a cable where you can charge it separately or plug the same cable into the new dock to charge your 3G. You can get the cable in the Apple Store or Apple Shop

  • How do you make the Iphone 4 ring from its speaker while it is connected to a charging dock?

I have a basic charging dock for my Iphone. It allows it to be plugged into my MacBook via usb or to a wall charger it also has a line out port. I typically just use it to charge on my bed side table. When its connected and the phone rings it just vibrates with so ringtone, i believe its trying to send the ring tone out via the line out. Am i able to tell it to just use the inbuilt phone speaker?
    Thanks

I agree with randy something your doing on your computer is compressing the pictures when I open a photo taken with my iPhone 4 its 1936 X 2592 which is a huge photo it only shows me the picture at 33 percent so im not sure what your doing differently my document size is 26 inches by 36 inches if that helps

    Hi All, Wanted to share!
As some of you may know, we had a pretty scary incident recently. Attached are pictures of what remains of our 2007 Suburban. We are all okay but I wanted to warn everyone not to make the same mistake I did. This fire resulted from leaving an iPhone charger/docking station plugged into the car outlet. It overheated and started a fire, while parked in our garage. PLEASE unplug anything you have in your car outlets once you turn off your car!
We were VERY fortunate that we found the fire, at 11pm, before going to bed and before it spread to the house. None of our garage heat detectors or house fire alarms went off (another item to take care of on my “to do” list).  Feel free to pass this along to anyone you want. Better safe than sorry.

  • Charging Docks For The iPhone

folks i could really use some help finding a charging dock for my iphone. ultimately i would like to dock the phone in a device that is meant to support the iphone. the device would have both audio and video out. the device would charge the iphone and look decent enough to leave siting out.
bestbuy has these in stock; http://kino-eye.com/2007/01/12/dlo-homedock-deluxe/
There are so many 3rd party options out there and most do not say "iphone".
What says the apple community ?
    Rick

WOW I thought this was going to be an easy question, guess I couldnt be more wrong... I will settle for audio out in combination with being able to charge the unit.

    Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaseeee help

There is no way an iPhone 3G is under warranty... they have not been sold in over 2yrs.
Either find a local place to repair it or buy a new one.

  • Apple headset unpairs from iPhone after charging in dock

After the first charge after buying the headset, it auto-paired to my iPhone when charging in the dock and worked properly afterwards. The next time I charged both in the dock, the headset would not pair to the iPhone afterward. The only way to re-pair was to turn off bluetooth on the phone, power off the headset, turn bluetooth back on, and power up the headset. Then the next time I charged them in the dock, same problem. I took my headset back to an Apple store thinking it was faulty, but the Genius explained that he has exactly the same behavior with his and it's just a fact of life with the Apple BT headset. My husband was given one for Xmas so I tried it out with my iPhone and, as expected, same problem. I'm surprised not more people are talking about this in these forums. Having to go through a annoying 4-step process to re-pair the headset after charging is absurd.

I was having the same problem, but I discovered a fix! I am using an iPhone with 1.1.3 firmware. Okay here goes.
    1. Turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone and turn off the headset as well.
    2. Plug in the iPhone and the headset in the dock. Make sure that the dock is plugged in to your computer via USB. Bluetooth should come on automatically and the headset should pair as well, but the bluetooth symbol will be grayed out, i.e. not connected.
    3. Remove the bluetooth headset from the dock.
    4. Unpair the headset from the iPhone via Settings - General - Bluetooth. Turn off bluetooth once you are done unpairing.
    5. Turn off the headset.
    6. While the iPhone is in the dock, reboot the iPhone.
    7. Once the iPhone boots up, plug in the headset in the dock.
Voila... the bluetooth should come on automatically and the headset should pair as well, but this time the bluetooth symbol will be lit up, i.e. bluetooth connected.
Not done yet... remove the headset from the dock. The bluetooth symbol on the iPhone will go off, i.e. grayed out. Wait a few seconds and hit the button on the headset once and the bluetooth on the iPhone will reactivate and connect to your headset.
    Hope this helps!

  • IPhone 4S Dual Charger Dock

Looking to use Iphone 4s with otter box cover on dual charger dock. I don't want to cut the flap covering the connector. I have an extension but it puts a lot of tension on connectors with the extra height. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If your dock uses the official dock adapters (or any kind of dock adapter), don't use them. Flaps are a bit annoying, you may have to cut them, or look for a different case. There don't really seem to be any docks made for heavy duty cases.

  • IPhone 3G Universal Dock Adapter + dual dock(bt)?????

has anyone tried this? I had iphone and apple bt(which *****),
dualdock was good as it could hold both of them and keep them pair.
Now things got ugly, 3g iphone doesn't come with dock, and they sell 3g dock
but not 3g dual dock, so I have to either use travel cable or put 3g iphone
in 3g dock and bt in dual dock(or travel charger), which is completely
waste of space and usb port.
So how's this combo? iPhone 3G Universal Dock Adapter( http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB546G/A?fnode=home/shopiphone/iphone_accessories/cablesdocks&mco=MTI3Mzc4Mg&p=1&s=topSellers ) + dual dock
does it work? has anyone tried? I'm sure it will look ugly but if there's
no plan for 3g dual dock, then I'd try it...

Thank you for your response -- (its my first ever response) -- Universal Docks that have the large round IR window on the front are OLD Universal Docks and they will not work, they are for the older ipods before the video ipods came out. They also have a SVIDEO port in back. again these are for the old ipods. the newer Universal Docks have a small slot for a IR window and these are the new NON_SVIDEO versions and they my friend do work with the iphone/video ipods and of course the latest Iphone 3g -- if you purhcase the latest AV cables that connect at the bottom of the device...

  • IPhone 4 charge status is contradictory

Something's not right with the charging status on my iPhone 4. This morning, when I took the phone out of its charging dock, I saw that it was carrying an incomplete charge. This isn't unusual; sometimes if I'm not paying attention I don't dock it correctly and that's clearly all me. I hooked it up to a charger and carried on for a few hours and expected to come back to it with a higher charge.
    Instead, it showed this:
So I plugged it back in and was surprised to see the battery change to the "fully charged" icon:
Up until this morning the phone has been charging completely normally, with no issues. Now I can't tell which part of the display is lying to me. I've rebooted the phone, but I haven't tried restoring it to factory settings; I want to back it up first, and won't be able to do that until I get home tonight.
Any thoughts or ideas much appreciated.

Additional data: after having the phone in use for a few hours, the charge percentage is down from 50% to 40%, but plugging it in still shows the "full charge" icon:
So my guess is that it's not charging, but something in the background is borked and makes it think it's charging.

  • New 5c charging dock not working!

Got a charging dock for my 5c and it does not work.  Called Apple they sent a new one and it does not work either?  I am using the lightning cable provide with phone.  Ear buds do not work either through the dock.  What am i missing?

Probably a problem with the install, Iphones are not meant to be user serviceable, and it voids all future support from Apple.
and unfortunately, you have no one to blame but yourself.
    Sorry, Good luck.

  • My iphone wont charge and my PC can't see it.

My iphone wont charge and my PC can't see it. can anybody help.  At first a yellow warning triangle appeared saying this device is not compatible with charging. but that does not show now.

Most likely a hardware problem, which it may be possible to fix. Get a magnifier and look in the dock connector on the bottom of the phone. If there is dirt or moisture in it clean it with a dry toothbrush. If a pin is bent try to straighten it. Also try a different cable. If all of these fail the phone is broken.
