Iphone 3G contacts to gmail

I want to transfer by contacts from iphone 3 (iOS 4.2.1) to my gmail contacts. icloud will not work, ssl cannot be enabled. I have spend over 8 hours googling to see how to do it so would appreciate any advice :-)

i'm experiencing something similar. Contacts in my mac addressbook/iphone don't sync over to gmail. Or they synced over at some point but then disappeared from gmail. Seems like gmail is losing contacts and now i can't force to sync them back. Fortunately they're still in the iphone and on the mac, but I worry that some day they'll disappear from there too (i do have a backup in case).

    Great. Thank you.
Now that I made that mistake by adding them to the "On My iPhone" folder, are you aware of a way there a way to import them to Gmail contacts? I would like to do this as a one time thing so I don't have to manually re-enter each contact.
Ideally, I would import all to Gmail, delete all contacts off iPhone, then re-sync Gmail with iPhone so all contacts transfer to the Exchange account.

  • Merge Iphone 5 Contacts into gmail contacts

HI there!  For some reason my iPhone 5 contacts stopped syncing with my gmail contacts.  I already had a google carddav account setup. However I think I may have accidently changed a setting, but I'm not sure which one and why its now affected my sync.  I don't want to loose any of my iPhone contacts, since they are the most up to date contacts.  I tried deleting the google carddav account, but when it said it would delete google contacts, I chickened out.  I can't afford to loose my contacts.  I also tried syncing to Outlook via iTunes, but that didn't work correctly either as it didn't merge contacts, like I thought, it ended up deleting some of my iPhone contacts.  Luckily I was able to reset my sync history, which recovered my deleted contacts.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been searching for a solution.

Well sadly I couldn't leave well enough alone and wait on help.  I have now overwritten my itunes backup that had all of my correct contacts, unless iTunes save previous versions somewhere and I can't locate it?  So I guess now I just need to figure out why my sync stopped working?

You do realize that the SIM only contains account information for your wireless account.
Moving the SIM from phone to phone does not cause any of your iTunes content, contacts, email, etc to magically appear on the device.

  • Syncing iPhone 3G creates unwanted new contacts in Gmail contact list.

For reasons that are unknown to me, I have many multiple duplications of contacts in my contact list. So, using the contact manager in Gmail I spent many hours cleaning up my contact list so that all of my contacts were correct and not duplicated. However, as soon as I synced the iPhone 3G I immediately had twice as many contacts as before I started, once again ending up with hundreds of unnecessary contact duplications.
I have now spent many days reading internet blogs and forum posts, and came up with the following (which I incorrectly thought was the solution):
1] In iTunes, I clicked on 'Edit' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Devices'. Here, I enabled the option to 'prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically'. I also enabled the option to 'warn when any of the data on this computer will be changed'.
2] With the iPhone connected, in iTunes I clicked on 'devices' --> 'iPhone' --> 'Info'. Here, I un-checked the option to 'sync contacts', followed by clicking the button 'remove contacts'.
Now I confirmed that there are no contacts on the iPhone. Zero. None.
3] In Gmail, I once again spent many hours going trough all of my contacts, cleaning up the unnecessary duplicates. This time, however, I chose to export my contact list to a .CSV file on my computer, so that if this happens again I would just delete them all and restore my contact list fro this backup file.
Now I have 0 contacts on the iPhone, and approximately 250 contacts on my Gmail account.
4] In iTunes 10.2.1.1 running on Windows 7, I once again clicked on 'Edit' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Devices'. Here I now clicked the button to 'reset sync history'.
5] I connect the iPhone to the computer, re-enable the option to 'sync contacts with Gmail' and click the 'Apply' button. The iPhone sync process begins and I am presented with the following message:
Syncing with Google contacts will change more than 0% of your contacts on this computer.
    Information: Contacts. Add:41. Delete:0. Modify:2
Now I already confirmed that there were no contacts on the iPhone, so where are these 41 additions and 2 modifications coming from !?
I let it happen, knowing that I can repeat this process, using the '.CSV' backup file containing my correct contacts. When the Sync finishes, I log in to my Gmail account and check my contacts. I find that I now have approximately 360 contacts (which is a lot more than the original 250 plus 41), many of which are duplicated multiple times (one contact is even duplicated 6 times). I also notice contacts which I had previously deleted from my Gmail contacts list have now returned.
As there were 0 contacts on the phone, where are these duplicates and previously deleted contacts coming from when I sync the iPhone !? Somebody from Apple please help me.
    - James.

O.K. I may have fixed it (time will tell).
As I had previously chosen to sync with Microsoft Outlook 2010, but the trial period expired and the price to but it was far too high, so I changed to Syncing with Gmail. Therefore I wondered if Outlook may be affecting the iTunes sync even though it was not current chosen in iTunes contact sync option. So, I un-installed Microsoft Office 2010 and re-booted the PC. Now, pressing the 'Rest Sync History' button in iTunes no longer created new contacts in Gmail.
However, this did not completely solve the problem. With 0 contacts on the phone, and 0 contacts in Gmail, syncing the phone still re-created 41 of the previous contacts. Thew only way I could get rid of these 41 contacts was to deleted them one at a time from the iPhone itself. Doing it from Gmail, or un-checking the iTunes 'sync contacts' option to delete all contacts from the phone at once, did not work; the contacts still kept coming back.
Funny thing though, iTunes did indicate that it would add 41 contacts when I synced the phone to the computer, but after deleting them from the phone it now warned that it would delete 41 contacts from the computer. But, these contacts were not in my Gmail, so I still don't know where they were coming from.
Either way, after many hours spent over many days, I seem to now be able to sync my phone contacts with my Gmail without it creating any more unnecessary duplicates.
I hope someone out there can tell me why this happened, and I hope my experiences with this help someone else in a similar situation.
    - James.

  • IPhone 4 - Contact sync with Gmail

How do I sync all contacts from my iPhone 4 to Gmail?
All contacts that I add directly to my iPhone that do not update to Gmail automatically. These contacts fall into a folder called "All on My iPhone".
    Please provide any insight possible.

  • Sync iPhone contacts with Gmail contacts whille having Outlook contacts

    Hi,
I am currently syncing my iPhone's contacts with itunes ->Outlook.
Which means that all my contacts being saved on my Outlook account.
I also have many people/contacts on my Gmail accound that I wish to get in to my iPhone.
    BUT:
The problem is that I am afraid to sync and get many many duplicates.
There is a way to merge both without making a MASS?
    Plus:
It could be really nice to have all the contacts from my iPhone backed up on my Gmail account.
    Thanks!!

Do you want to sync with Outlook.com or Windows PC Outlook? I'm guessing the latter since it sounds like you prefer to protect your privacy by not synching with the cloud. Try http://www.akruto.com. I've been using it with my iPhone and iPad without any problems. Website doesn't mention iOS, but I found out from a friend that it works with iOS and it does.

I assume you want to setup sync that way your contacts within Gmail and on the iPhone stay updated in both places. If so, here is the link for how to set this up: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2753077&topic=21369&ctx=topic
Be sure to read the part below the setup instructions that shows how to change your default account. It may take a moment to import everything.

  • Pushed contacts from gmail on iPhone 4 not the same as iPhone 3G

    Hi
I use gmail (via Microsoft Exchange setting on the iphone) to push all of my contacts from gmail onto my iPhones contacts and this worked great on my iPhone 3G.
However, since upgrading to an iPhone 4, whenever I add a new contact on my iPhone, the new contact isn't pushed to my list of gmail contacts when I sign in to gmail to check.
What I have found is that if I back out of all contacts and into groups, there is now a tab called "On my iPhone" and when I hit this I see the contacts that I have added from my iPhone. I want it to go back to the way it was before and for it to be that every time I add a new contact on my iPhone, I want it to be added to my gmail contacts and not on it's own just on the iPhone.
How can this be resolved please?

The U.S. Apple store publicized as the type of Sim-free iPhone, and not as a contract-free.
Now in the Apple store site, including the FAQ for purchasing iPhone4 unloked, is written:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC603LL/A?mco=MjI4NTM2NTM
"Why does the price of the unlocked iPhone differ from the price of a contract-based iPhone?
Carriers typically subsidize the purchase price of the phone when purchased with a service contract. By purchasing your iPhone unlocked, you are not committing to a service contract up front, so you can use any micro-SIM card from a supported GSM carrier, including your current one"
I wonder why I pay the same price as a phone but an identical unlocked, it is a fraud

  • Syncing contacts from GMAIL to IPHONE

So OF COURSE, like all things tech/software related for me, I've tried everything I've found on how to delete contacts, clean up contacts, sync from Gmail, and I just flat out CAN'T.
    Tried this: http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&topic=14252&answer=138740
and of course, the "What would you like to do with existing local contacts on your Iphone" screen does not come up. I already freaking HAVE gmail on this phone, adding it as an MS Exchange account does nothing for me.
Tried mass deleting via itunes info tab>advanced. It simply "syncs" and is finished in 2 seconds. Go into my phone, I STILL HAVE 3800+ CONTACTS. So that didn't work either. SHOCKER.
Tried like 3 apps, looks as if I've succeeded. Go into my phone, 3800+ contacts.
Besides WHY ME? my question is, does iCloud have anything to do with why these freaking things won't go away?
I want to accomplish 1 of these 3 things:
Have ALL my contacts currently in my phone (or on the cloud) replaced with my gmail contacts.
Have ALL my contacts currently in my phone replaced with gmail contacts AND facebook contacts, with all data (phone numbers, bdays, email addresses, ect) related to that person, under ONE contact. I have 2 numbers, and 2 email addresses for Maddie Jackson, why the **** would I want to display that as 4 contacts?!
Delete ALL contacts currently in my phone (or on the cloud), so I have ZERO contacts when I tap the freaking phone button, then export my gmail contacts FROM gmail onto the iPhone. Can someone PLEASE help me?!

  • Keep gmail contacts separate from iPhone local contacts

Is there a way to use the iPhone mail app set up for Google to keep gmail contacts separate from iPhone contacts when you enable the Contacts during the setup?  When I enable Contacts, I get a warning saying if I keep the local contacts on the phone, there could be duplicates.  If I continue down that path, the iPhone syncs the local contacts and they appear in my Gmail contacts list.  I'm guess if I were to have any contacts in my Gmail, they would have been merged.  If I DO NOT enable contacts, and tap the "+" symbol when I want to add a recipient, it pulls from the local contacts.
I want to be able to only see Gmail contacts when I use the mail app when configured for a Google account.  In other words, if I only have one contact in Gmail, I want to only see that one contact when I'm sending a message from that specific account.  I don't want to see all the other local contacts that are on the phone.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks for any help.

The "All Contacts" view will consolidate all of your sources into one list. This is primarily for ease of use. Contacts synced from different sources, e.g. iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. are actually kept in separate data stores. There will be no cross-contamination of your address books.
