IPhone 3G contacts transfer to outlook?

I tried to transfer the contacts from my iPhone 3G to outlook and all the contacts on my phone were wiped out and there was nothing in the outlook either. I checked the iTunes where the check mark is for sync with outlook and everything seem to be fine. I tried that twice and all my contacts were wiped out. I had to type them in manually on the iPhone. Any ideas on how to backup or save my contacts without being wiped out? I am almost ready to go back to my TREO 750, but I like the iPhone 3G to much, except for not being able to save my contacts. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It should work.
If the merge prompt is not provided, you can cancel the sync.
I believe the assumption is that most people will have contact information already available with a supported application on their computer, or should.
I read often about people entering all their contact information on their cell phone or iPhone only which isn't available with any address book application on their computer, which I fail to understand. A cell phone can be easily lost or stolen.
The iPhone's backup does not include contact information, calendar events, or bookmarks. The iPhone's backup does not include data that is designed to be synced with supported applications on your computer with the exception of email account setup information. All other data is assumed to be available with a supported application on your computer and included with your computer's backup of all important data available on your computer's hard drive.

  • How to Sync iphone 5 contacts/calendar with Outlook 2007

I used to have an iphone 3gs and upgraded to a 5 recently. Since then I can't sync outlook contacts/calendar like I used to.
All I want to do is sync outlook with the iphone so that I have the same data on my Windows7 PC as on the iPhone. I used to just hit sync in itunes and presto it would sync both ways. i.e new phone entries would be copied to outlook and new outlook enteries copied to the iphone.
Now in itunes "info". I  only see an option that sync's to the cloud only. I don't want to sync to the cloud because the old way was better for me.
Besides the cloud doesn't seem to work. The phone information gets uploaded to the cloud but the outlook information doesn't get updated? When I open up the cloud in Win7 using icloud I can see all the contacts on my phone but how do I get them to sync with Outlook and vice versa?
I've read so much information on the subject I'm blue in the face but have not found a solution.
Your help would be appreciated, Thank You.

If you have [accidentally] enabled iCloud sync on your iPhone, note that you first need to turn that off in order to be able to sync again via iTunes instead. iCloud sync and iTunes sync when it comes to contacts and calendars, are cannot be run simultaneously. Settings > iCloud > toggle the switches to OFF
You can alternatively read this for another offline method of syncing iphone contacts to outlook without needing to switch off your iCloud sync in first place.

  • Sync iPhone contacts with Gmail contacts whille having Outlook contacts

    Hi,
I am currently syncing my iPhone's contacts with itunes ->Outlook.
Which means that all my contacts being saved on my Outlook account.
I also have many people/contacts on my Gmail accound that I wish to get in to my iPhone.
    BUT:
The problem is that I am afraid to sync and get many many duplicates.
There is a way to merge both without making a MASS?
    Plus:
It could be really nice to have all the contacts from my iPhone backed up on my Gmail account.
    Thanks!!

Do you want to sync with Outlook.com or Windows PC Outlook? I'm guessing the latter since it sounds like you prefer to protect your privacy by not synching with the cloud. Try http://www.akruto.com. I've been using it with my iPhone and iPad without any problems. Website doesn't mention iOS, but I found out from a friend that it works with iOS and it does.

  • HT4859 How do I transfer my outlook contacts to my iPhone?

How do I transfer my outlook contacts from my lap top to my iPhone?

    Howdy Blue Island Ave,
Here is an article about doing just that named Syncing contacts and calendars to iPod with iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3191.
Dont let the name fool you, the steps are also relevant for an iPhone.
To configure iTunes to sync contacts to your iPod:
    Open iTunes.
Connect your iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes Source pane.
In the Source pane under Devices select your iPod. This displays the iPod's Preferences.
    Click Info.
Select the "Sync Contacts from..." checkbox.
From the menu, choose the program (Outlook or Windows Contacts) that contains the contacts you want to sync with your iPod.
    Click Apply.
Tip: iTunes for Windows can only sync Microsoft Outlook and Windows Contacts automatically. Note: Contact Groups from Windows Contacts will not sync with iPod.
Note: iTunes for Windows can only sync contacts from one source at a time, either Outlook or Contacts. If you change the sync source, your new contacts will overwrite the previously stored contacts.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • My iphone won't sync with Outlook contacts or calendar anymore.  Any idea how to do this now?

I used to be able to sync my iphone contacts and calendar entries (home calendar) with outlook and now it won't work.  How can I fix this?

Does iTunes Show an error message?
How did you setup syncing with Outlook, are you syncing them via iTunes using USB or Wi-Fi or an Exchange server?
For more info on USB syncing and all of the other options, take a look at this Apple doc -> iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
If you aren't sure try setting up USB syncing again, just connect the iPhone to the computer, open iTunes, click the Info tab across the top of the screen, scroll down to Contacts and choose to sync contacts.

To sync contacts with your computer, choose  "Sync Contacts with" within iTunes for Windows, or "Sync Address Book Contacts" on your Mac.
You can sync your contacts with:
Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7)
    Windows Address Book (Windows XP)
Windows Contacts (Windows Vista / Windows 7)
    Address Book (Mac OS X)
Microsoft Entourage 2004, Microsoft Entourage 2008, or Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac
Note:  If using Microsoft Entourage, use Microsoft Entourage 2008 12.1.2 or later  if syncing with Mac OS X v10.6 or later. If you would like to sync data on your Mac with Entourage, enable syncing between Entourage and Address Book.
    Notes:
When syncing contacts, you can choose to sync all of your contacts or only selected groups. The option to sync selected items may not show up until after the first sync.
You can select a group of contacts to which all new contacts created on your iOS device will be added.
Additional options for syncing include syncing your contacts with Yahoo or Gmail/Google Mail.  You will need to configure it with the user name and password for your Yahoo or Google account.

  • Syncing iphone with windows 7 contacts - error message outlook.pst not foun

I have set set up ITunes to sync my Iphone GS with Windows Contacts. When I sync I get an error message :
The file c:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\Outlook.pst could not be found
Sometimes the error message comes up 2 or 3 times.
Secondly, my Iphone is syncing with something because an old version of my windows address book is now on my iphone. Of course if I add a new contact to Windows Contacts, it does not appear on my iphone.
I dont have Outlook installed on my PC. It was removed, but I guess I do have an old outlook.pst file from my old times with Windows XP.
So how does Itunes manage the sync and how can I stop it syncing with my old address book and use Windows Contacts? I have tried resetting my sync history but it did not work.
I am running Windows7 (upgrade from Vista).

I am also having issues with syncing my Iphone 3GS with the latest version on Itunes. I have for a long while now been doing just great. My contacts, phone numbers, emails have all synced very nicely, no problems. As soon as I downloaded the new Itunes 9.1 I can no longer sync contacts, and calendars, as usual.
I tried several things that were suggested to me in the troubleshooting but nothing has helped. It usually tells me that my computer is not set up for syncing, and after arranging that it still doesn't work. As well, it says it cannot find the requested services.
    Please help.
I am running windows 7, and have been for a while, it's not windows 7, it's the new Itunes upgrade.

  • I have almost 1200 contacts in my Outlook, all of which were assigned to a Category, so I could look people up by that Category. Almost 900 of the Category assignments are now blank. Does anyone know how to assign a contact to a group on the iPhone?

I have almost 1200 contacts in my Outlook, all of which were assigned to a Category, so I could look people up by that Category. Almost 900 of the Category assignments are now blank. I am a recent iPhone user. When I had my BlackBerry, you could see or assign the Category in each contact. I don't see that when I go to "edit" in a contact. I don't want to go through all my contacts and reassign the Category, and then have them wiped out again. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm not affiliated w/ the developer, just a happy user that gave up fighting the apple podcast app a while ago.  I used to have a bunch of smart playlists in itunes for my podcasts, and come home every day and pathologically synced my phone as soon as I walked in the door, and again before I walked out the door in the morning.
Since my wife was doing this too, we were fighting over who's turn it was to sync their phone.
Since I've switched to Downcast, I no longer worry about syncing my phone to itunes at all.  I can go weeks between syncs.
Setup a "playlist" in downcast (ex., "Commute") and add podcasts to that playlist.  Add another playlist ("walk" or "workout") and add different podcasts to that one.
Set podcast priorities on a per-feed basis (ex., high priority for some daily news feeds, medium priority for some favorite podcasts, lower priority for other stuff).  Downcast will play the things in the priority you specify, and within that priority, it will play in date order (oldest to newest).
Allegedly, it will also sync your play status to other devices, although that is not a feature I currently use and can't vouch for.  It uses apple's iCloud APIs, so to some extent may be limited by what Apple's APIs can do.

  • Problems syncing iPhone 4S contacts and calendar with Outlook 2007

Hello.  I am having difficulties syncing my iPhone 4S Contacts and Calendar with Outlook 2007.  It used to work perfectly with my iPhone 4, but now I am having difficulties both ways.  That is, I add something to my Outlook 2007 Calendar, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in my iPhone.  Or, I add a Contact to my iPhone, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in Outlook 2007.  I believe I have the iTunes settings correct.

Me too. Think it is since 6.1.3.
Interesting other quirk is that as well as NOT syncing my calendar, it also unticks my calendar from pc on the iphone.
When ii retick it, i get the calendar back, but as it was before the sync, ie, it does not have the bnew events from my pc in it.
This is a 2 way problem.
New events on my iphone wont sync to my pc, and new events on my pc wont sync to my iphone.

  • Contacts added in iPhone don not sync into Outlook on PC

Has anyone else had this issue: I have added new contacts into my iPhone and have tried to sync the iPhone with Outlook and the newly added contacts do not show up in Outlook Contacts. Is there a method to force sync of newly added contacts?
    Thanks
    Robert

Yes, the Sync with Outlook is checked on the info tab. My contacts from Outlook have been synced with my iPhone, it is just these newly added contacts on the iPhone did not sync into Outlook.

  • Contacts created in iphone do not synchro to outlook

    Hi everyone,
First of all, sorry if this topic is repeated. I have been searching just in case but I did not find it.
The problem I have is as follows: the contacts created directly on the iphone are not syncrhonizing with Outlook 2007. So, if I create a new one with the iphone this is not copy to Outlook. If it helps, the iphone contacts groups I have are: "All", and below "From my Pc" is "All of my Pc".
I have an iphone 3GS and, as I said, using Outlook 2007 to manage contacts.
Thanks in advance (and sorry if my English is not 100% accurate...)
    Best regards,

I'm sorry, I missed your earlier reply. You do have the option to reset the sync history in iTunes, by going into Edit>Preferences>Devices, and then reset sync history. Have you done a reset on the iPhone? It is unusual that you have syncing going on with the iPhone in one way and not the other, usually it is the other way around.
See if a reset of the phone helps. To reset, hold the power and home buttons down together until you see the Apple logo and then release, ignoring the slide to power off screen. This does a reset of the phone OS but does not hurt any of the data. Then try adding a contact and see if it will sync.
