Iphone 5 just over 1 yr old. WELL taken care of just randomly crashes and becomes unuseable. Times I can reset it and it will work and others nothing will fix it. I've done a restore after hours of it not even recognizing the phone. Last night it just turned itself off, would boot up with white apple screen, turn a color and shut off again. This repeated for about 40 min. The buttons were useless. Finally, after trying to reset it turned back on.
I have had glitchy problems with apps closing randomly and now these crashes are getting frequent.
Anyone have a similar problem? I'm not sure if the phone is a lemon or substandard quality. I am becoming frustrated with the product and thinking of getting a new phone. Any suggestions? I'm afraid next time it will not come back on. Any advice welcome! Thank you!!I was offered a brand new iPhone 5 after I brought the phone to local Apple store again. Apparentl, my old phone was damaged during battery replacement. Very happy now and hope the phone will last for a few more years. Recommend Apple Store for issues with iPhones, especially battery replacemen. Who can you trust more than Apple trained Genius? Will buy iPhones again since Apple takes care of their products!

My iPhone 4 crashes very often (3-4 times per day) and sometimes (2-3 times per month) all my apps disappear and I have to restore them with iTunes. I downloaded all the system updatings and I also tried to restore my device, but I still have this issue
If you haven't already, try restoring your iPhone as a new device, not from a backup, and with only the apps Apple includes. Then see if the problems persist. It's possible that a corrupted file on the iPhone is causing the problems, and that could perhaps be coming back onto the iPhone if you're restoring using a backup. Problems with an app could also be causing problems. If the problems persist after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you almost certainly have a defective iPhone and will need to contact Apple for servicing.
If the problems go away after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you can start putting your other apps back on and see if the problems reappear; if they do, you probably have a badly-coded app.

Over the past few days, my iPhone has crashed multiple times, most often (but not always) locking up when using Safari. On a couple of occasions, I have gotten a screen full of code that includes words such as "kernal" and "panic," which I consider not at all good.
I have restored from backup and restored without backing up multiple times, and while it's working now, I feel sure it will happen again.
Also, since this occurred, I now have an icon from a partially downloaded app that I killed quite a while back. It is dimmed, and I can't get an "X" to delete it.
Any and all advice would be welcome.Logging into iTunes and downloading the app was the solution to the icon issue. But the phone is still not right -- it stopped in the middle of running the app and spontaneously restarted.

Recently loaded Lion on my laptop and now my computer crashes often. Black screen and keyboard lights up. Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix this?

Why is my iPhone 5s crashing a lot with almost every app I use even sometimes when I open Settings? I like the phone so far other than this very annoying issue. This is my 2nd device after returning the 1st one because of the same problem plus and issue with the microphone that seemed to be over heated after a long period of phone call, and maybe this device will end up to be returned too. I've done hard reset/soft reset many times and even tried to restore as new (from scratch) but nothing really has changed. I enabled the automatically send for diagnostics and usage so that Apple might notice the crazy reports I get from crashing. Please I need help as soon as possible.

You cannot delete the "Settings" category. You can delete some of the apps that have settings set from within settings. That would delete their settings.
Say you have a suspicious app called "Zzyzx". You could delete that app by holding its icon until it wiggles, then click the "X" in its upper left. If Zzyzx had some settings, deleting the app would delete its settings as well.
"Apps work fine sometimes, but sometimes they just crash." Regardless, find those suspicious ones and delete them. Of course, all Apple's apps cannot be deleted (they would not show the "X" when wiggling the icons). But that is fine - they are not suspicious. -
Norton reports high memory usage with firefox and it crashes often
Norton antivirus 2011 has pop up warnings reporting high memory usage from Firefox. I have been getting theem often and my computer is crashing often after those pop up warnings. Thanks
Safe mode did not help.
I have disabled ALL extensions and plug-ins, but the problem with "zig-zag" memory usage still remains (I've not tried to leave browser open for the night yet).
I think I'll do clean reinstall with completely new empty profile (without sync'ed information) to try this out. If this works, I'll start adding stuff (configuration, sync, features, etc) to see what causes the problem. -

In trying to include what information all that I could I should have specified I DON'T KNOW THAT IT WAS DEFINATELY JAILBROKEN when I took it to the apple store they told me there's no way for them to tell if it was jail broken or not. I'm only going by what ppl have told me COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE PHONE. With that said the only thing I know for sure is that the apple tech at the Genius Bar told me that someone took control of my root menu in February & I've had no control of my phone since. I asked him how to regain control & how he knew his exact words were "oh that is out of our scope of capabilities here at this level & you would need an apple engineer to fix it". I said ok then how do I get an apple eng then? He laughed & said you can't!!!! To which I was furious I came home & called apple requesting to speak w/the fraud dept to file a report they said we don't have a fraud dept!! So after a 45 mn phone call again I left w/no answers.

I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SPEND HIRING AN ATTORNEY & Although I appreciate your suggestion I fail to how an attorney would be able to facilitate in any way since there's no suspect. I cannot prove that it's him doing it so I certainly can't pursue legal action w/no proof & no money. :'((

I was looking more for a TECHNICAL way to avoid this happening w/a new phone should I buy one or trying to get them out of my phone now! Such as installing some kind of software protection?? Someway to clear out the entire phone (other than factory reset which was done 10 x's w/no success, etc. if this person got in then there HAS TO BE A WAY OF GETTING HIM OUT, right???? -

absolutely that is frustrating. if the battery life is fine there could be two things software or hardware. to find out if your back up your information in itunes and import pictures and then restore the phone as NEW then you can test it out. if it is still shutting off it is hardware related

First, create a separate login on your computer for your friend. Do this BEFORE you do anything else. Next, make sure iTunes is up to date. Then:
1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in iTunes.
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book, iCal) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect her phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on her phone will be in her itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore her itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding her contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go. -

I'm having the same problems. Can't even find out if Apple is working on it. Tried to downgrade but is not supported by apple so error 3194 comes up which is verifying with the apple web site. Which then stops everything. I understand you can modify the "hosts" file to by pass the issue, but hate doing that as it gets involved. May try it if I can't get any satisfaction from apple.

My iPhone 3GS crashed and now only displays the usb to iTunes screen. I came to connect it to iTunes. My computer is currently unable to connect to the internet for unknown reasons. When I plugged my iPhone into my computer, iTunes displayed an error message saying “The iphone software update server could not be contacted”.
I assume I need to download and update the IOS on my phone, for which I need an internet connection. I have a laptop with internet connection. If I connect my iPhone to iTunes on my laptop, (a different itunes library) then will it result in the loss of my photos, videos, contacts and messages as there will be no back up to restore from?
Is there a way I can transfer the back up from my PC to my laptop, so that when I connect my iPhone it is restored to the state of the last back up and I don’t lose photos/videos/contacts/messages?
Any other solutions?
ThanksPDF documents are not "in a Adobe reader app"; they are just files stored on your device. You can transfer them as you would any other files.
If the device is still active, you could upload them to https://cloud.acrobat.com/ to share with other devices, but if it's deactivated you will probably need a cable or similar connection. -
