IPhone 3G earphones

Ok, I know this sounds like a silly question, but as an iPhone new user I'd like to know how do you connect your earphones to the iPhone. I mean if you can connect them anytime (i.e. while playing music, while on a call, etc.) or if you can only connect them when your iPhone is on sleep mode or in standby mode with the home screen.

You can safely connect you earphones no matter what state the iPhone is currently in.

    If the headphones are the Apple EarPods, it does not work with the 3rd gen shuffle (the remote control buttons do not work). 
    As an alternative, you can get an adapter like this one (there are several similar products)

  • Anyone having issues with iphone 5 earphone jack? .

    Got my iphone early this week.  When I plugged in my earphone and only 1 earphone is audible.  Apple stored tested it and found it to be defective and ordered a replacement.  I just got a new replacement.  Came home, unpacked the box and tested my iphone 5.  all looks good but when I plugged in my earphone into the earphone jack, I faced the same issue.  Only the right earphone is working.  the iphone 5 earphone works awesome on my ipad and my nexus.  anyone having this same recurring issue?  or it's just a batch manufacturing defect?

    The problem is still going on. I bought the iphone 5 in December 2012. Right earphone doesn't work. Not sure i'm getting right channel through the speaker either. There is not an Apple store here. Will check with Verizon store tomorrow.    No replies?

    is iphone 4s earphone compatible with ipad 3？ Since there is no earphone included in the new ipad 3 gen,I tried to use my iPhone
    4s earphone with it. But it can't be fully inserted in and the sound is not stable. I'm wondering is it actually fit in with the ipad3 or I didn't insert hard enough to the earphone jack. Does anyone else have the same problem?
    And I checked the accessory page  for ipad3 on apple website, the earphone they listed is compatible with almost every apple product include iPhone 4s and ipad3. Is that earphone the same as the one we get in the box of the iPhone 4s? If it is, that means the current earphone I have can be used for my iPad 3. If no, does that mean I have to buy a new one just for my ipad3?

    The earphones are compatible. They both have an industry standard 3.5mm jack. For a new iPad you may have to push hard to completely insert the plug.

    I cannot  access Siri using my iphone 5 earphones provided with my phone.  I press and hold down the center button on the earphones, but it doesn't activate Siri.

    If you had checked the settings - you might have noticed that Siri isn't in the settings either. Siri is in the settings on the iPad 3, the iPad 4 and on the Mini.

    i have iphone 4s it has problem with earphone. the earphone voice of of other caller is very less. i can hardly head the other person but the speakers are working perfectly alrights. someone told me that the earphone speakers are burst. but some other people tole me that iphone 4s got a bug and my problem would be solved by updationg software. can anyone tell me the right solution.

    You can go to the apple store they should just check the serial number on the iPhone that they came with and replace them with a new set in no time.

  • IPhone 3gs Earphone, Mic and Earpiece  Problem

    i have a problem with my iPhone 3gs, the mic is working fine when that battery is on high percentage, but when the battery goes down the mic is not working well, it records like a grounded sound, also my earpiece, when doing a call i cant hear the person on the onther line using my earpiece but when using a earphone or a loud speaker mode it works fine.,
    the problem on earphone is when i play music via earphone and make it on a maximum volume the phone is giving me a grounded sound,.

    my problem is that i can barely hear someone when they call even though the volume controlls are set at high!!! i have the 3gs
    my friends just a bought the same phone and they have the same exact problem! i brought it to the apple store and they pretty much blew me off. they tried fixing but they said everything is fine...
    they are keeping secret about this!!!!!! many more need to complain for them to get a new speaker!!!!!!
    i may consider returning the phone... besides that it is awesome!!!!!!

    My old earphone from my IPhone4 worked fine. I was able to heaqr myself as I talk but now I have an IPhone 5 and I noticed that the old earphone works but I cannot hear myself. I have the new earphone and my question is  I tried the new erphones and still cannot hear myself, is there a way to check this as the + sign on the wire makes the audio louder but not my voice.

    just one more question, in case if they do not let me replace the whole new phone. For iphone 4 can apple store change/replace only front panel of my phone? and if it going to cost me how much it would be? I know you said that the store doesn't fix the existing until, but it is the part that I think the store can really just replace it very easy (it is the same as change the whole front screen)

  • Iphone 5S earphone jack brown corrosion - No apple store in 1500 miles radios

    My Iphone is in use for less than 2 months, and its earphone jack is getting brown in its bottom. Is it normal? Seems to be corrosion.

    Has it been exposed to moisture such as steam in the bathroom, extreme cold, etc?
    Take a good flashlight and magnifying glass and explore further. It may be just dirt/debris and you can clean it.

    Fandang, Thanks so much for posting your reply ! I cleaned the socket with a cotton swab but that did not fix it. I then took a closer look at the headset socket. On the side you can see 3 tiny metal balls stick out. I carefully used a small pin and pushed each ball in a bit and that fixed it
    I bought my iPhone from Italy (all are SIMlock free there) and it would have been a ***** to ship it back to Italy to get it repaired. Thanks again!

    I have just unpacked and set up my iPhone 5. After syncing, I wanted to see what the sound quality was like with the new earphones.
    Annoyingly, I am only getting sound throught the left earphone and not the right.
    I had the same problem with my iPhone 4 that had been dropped, causing the lock/unlock button to break. 
    Have I been unlucky and bought a duff iPhone 5 or is it a software problem inherited from my old phone's backup?
    Really don't want to go through the hassle of sending my phone away when I have only just got it!
