IPhone 3g error 21

Whilst installing the 4.0.1 update on my iphone the install stopped an error came and it now said I needed to restore my iphone. So after trying to restore my phone it once again comes with an error message this time saying "An unknown error occurred (21)". Can anyone help me fix this, or is my iphone screwed?

Fixed this problem by creating a new user on my macbook, logging on as that user, letting itunes set up, after it is set up;plugging in my phone. Click update and install on the window that pops up about the software update, after it completes restoring and syncing, eject the phone and logout of the new user. Log in as you normally do and plug your phone back in. Open itunes if it doesn't open automatically. Once here my phone finished restoring with out any problems. Oh yeah, you can delete the new user you set up after you log out of it.

I have tried the suggestion to reset the sync log to no avail. Anyone have another idea? This just started after I downloaded 4.3.5.

You probably didn't install iTunes from a user account with Administrator privileges.

IPhone 4 - Error 9 during Restore

Hi there,
I'm trying to Restore the iPhone but Error 9 keeps popping up. The iPhone is literally a dud now just stuck on the screen with the cable and iTunes symbol.
I've tried doing the Restore on a 13" MB Pro, iMac and Windows Vista 64 bit, all bringing up the same error. I am running iTunes 9.2.1 on all machines.
Any advice or info appreciated.

i agree mate the restore should fix the problem but guess what, it forces itunes to do the update. SO update is faulty and restores forces the update see the problem

Are you accessing it via cellular network or WiFi? If WiFi then is this your usual network?
If it has been working fine for some time and now suddenly you get this message having changed nothing then it is most likely a temporary glitch at Google end or your ISP perhaps.
