IPhone 3g headphone & dock port protection

I'm looking for some silicon/hard plugs for the headphone jack and dock ports - does anyone know where I can get these? I know you can get them with the iSkin but I already have a case and just want the extra plugs, if they're available.

Cleaning Lint/Dust/Dirt From the Docking Port, Headphone Jack, Mic & Spkr

Does anyone know if you spray canned air (Dust Off) into the docking port, headphone jack, mic & speaker ports, if the air will blow the lint/dust/dirt deep into the phone or possibly under the screen where you can't get it back out?

i just use a toothpick and dig it out. the dock port and headphone jack are fairly closed off so the chance of pushing the lint / gunk in deeper is pretty low. so far no issues

I bought an iPhone 6 yesterday. I also bought a stereo dock that works with iPhone 5/5s. And a cord to connect iPhone 6 to USB port on my car stereo. No sound comes out of the stereo dock or car stereo. In Best Buy today, Sales Associate tried his iPhone 5 running iOS 8 on a stereo dock. It worked, but my iPhone 6 didn't. When will Apple fix this problem? Or is Apple pushing everyone to Bluetooth?

The iPod feature that plays through USB in my car does not work with my iPhone 6 either. I called AppleCare and they said that the car audio system will need a firmware update. Don't know if Apple is just passing the buck, but that is what I was told. Thank you for posting. I know now that I am not the only one. Thanks also for posting about the iPhone 5 running iOS 8. I gave away my iPhone 5 to a friend so I wasn't sure whether this is an iOS 8 issue or an iPhone 6 issue and your experience seems to confirm that it is a problem with iPhone 6. Iphone 4 was water damaged has had new battery as wasnt charging and new docking port and it comes on to apple logo now then off after 10 to 15 secs and reboots any help please

water damage iphone 4 was coming on when plugged in but not charging and not holding any power so changed battery it then worked untill battery power ran out and would not charge so changed the docking port and now it comes on with apple symbol and switches back off after 10 to 15 seconds like its rebooting and then just keeps repeating any help please

Help with what? Apple does not repair iPhones, they replace them. Apple does not sell parts. There are no legitimate sources for iPhone parts.
Talk to whoever did the initial repair. Odds are the logic board is damaged. It's probably time for a new phone.
Your phone is no longer eligible for a discounted out of warranty replacement.

If no effect, then try a restore from backup.
If no effect, then try a restore as new.
If no effect, likely a hardware issue, and you should schedule an appointment at a local Apple store.

So there can be incompatible mics for any splitter you use... OR is the defective splitter or the computer setting that is wrong...???

To be frank, some of the multimedia laptops, with SRS Premium Sound, etc. are having the same speakers as W510 / W520 and is very loud (AFAIK, Dell Inspiron N5110 have the same speakers as W520 and the placement is just below the palmrest like surround sound). Theoretically, it makes the sound less focus and soft, but it works well with that laptop.
The Mic and Speakers are powered by the amp / drivers. The hardware in fact is very good, the only problem with it is the driver / software not well written. Good Hardware + Bad Software = Bad Product.
If you want a better sound / mic, you could try my Dolby Home Theater v4 solutions, hopefully it could meet more than your expectations and solve your problems without any cost. In fact, Dolby GUI is more customizable than Conexant. Most of us would not think it's more complicated, as techies would prefers more options to have fun.

3. Get a USB solution only if you need multichannel audio, stereo / wave mix or studio grade quality, if you are just using for entertainment, etc. W520 with Dolby Home Theater v4 should be more than sufficient.

HT5858 iPhone thinks headphones are connected

My iphone 4S with iOS 7.0.2 won't put any sound to the speakers because it thinks there are a headphones connected. I have some bluetooth headphones, but I have bluetooth disabled. Any ideas?

I recommend trying these steps if the iPhone incorrectly registers that headphones are plugged in:
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

If you use eabuds or headphones on occasion, try inserting and removing the earbuds/headphones several times in a row.

IPhone 3G Universal Dock Adapter + dual dock(bt)?????

has anyone tried this? I had iphone and apple bt(which *****),
dualdock was good as it could hold both of them and keep them pair.
Now things got ugly, 3g iphone doesn't come with dock, and they sell 3g dock
but not 3g dual dock, so I have to either use travel cable or put 3g iphone
in 3g dock and bt in dual dock(or travel charger), which is completely
waste of space and usb port.

Thank you for your response -- (its my first ever response) -- Universal Docks that have the large round IR window on the front are OLD Universal Docks and they will not work, they are for the older ipods before the video ipods came out. They also have a SVIDEO port in back. again these are for the old ipods. the newer Universal Docks have a small slot for a IR window and these are the new NON_SVIDEO versions and they my friend do work with the iphone/video ipods and of course the latest Iphone 3g -- if you purhcase the latest AV cables that connect at the bottom of the device...

My 3GS keeps switching between iPhone speaker and Dock connector and I don't know how to keep it on iPhone speaker so I can listen to my music and games. Is it hardware or software problem?

I was told by a friend that sometimes when you use a 3rd party charger that the connectors are not the same size and so it can affect the sensors in the phone and make it seem like it is in a docking station and so changes the output for dock speakers. With that said, I didn't take my pohone in to be serviced at the appple store because it was a 3GS and over 2 years old and so not covered by any service plan. Since then my phone is back to normal and I can use my headphones and listen with the speakers on the phone. I stoped using the suspected cheap 3rd party charger and maybe that's what did it, but not sure if it was or wasn't the cause of my problem. I'm glad that my phone is better I was kinda holding out for the Iphone 5 when i comes out later and hope my phone lasted until then.

Docking Port

There is no mention in the manual as to what if anything can be done through the docking port, ie audion video playback, anyone have any information on this?

Morning all,
When you're listening to music and a call comes through, it's routed through your headphones. If I were listening through speakers connected to the bottom of the iPhone (like a dock, for example), would the voice be played through the speakers?

Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement. They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device. Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now. They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.
