IPhone 3G- I'm so frustrated- please help!
I was super excited about this new phone and purchased my new 3G on the 20th and have been on a roller coaster of emotions ever since. On one hand I'm impressed with cool apps such as "Shazam" that allows me to capture which song just played on the radio or elsewhere. On the other hand, the BASIC (or at least what I've come so accustomed to in the Microsoft World) tools such as being able to sync with calendars in my Outlook and COPY AND PASTE even on the most stripped down smart phones is making my life miserable. Today is the 22nd and I have literally spent the past 2 days reading almost all of the threads on getting the new iphone to work with Outlook. I have restored, deleted, created new data profiles in Outlook, purchased new software...even PRAYED! It took me about 5 hours when I first purchased the phone to get my contacts to sync from Outlook (which required me to run out and purchase Office 2007 before the stores closed). I STILL have not been able to download my calendar which is SOOOOOO frustrating. I'm a small business owner and LIVE by my calendar! I could've gotten a basic PHONE and still have been able to download my calendar. Again, the new iPhone is aesthetically beautiful, but it's making my life miserable by not living up to the hype and PROMISES. At this point, I'm tempted to return the phone unless I get some resolve to the issues I'm experiencing.
I fought my way through the upgrade fiasco, only to be bumped to the back of the queue as a "valued iphone owner", so I cancelled my 3g upgrade. Im glad I did because once I had sorted out the niggles with my original iphone and the 2.0 software, everything is good.
Ive never had an issue with my work mail, as i have setup a rule to autoforward a copy to my g-mail account, set it to auto update every 15 minutes and I get all my mail on the road :-D Setup the return address from that mail account to be your work mail address and you can even reply to mails and it looks like its from your office. The only issue I had was at first I would forget and reply to a mail, which actually sent the mail to MY account, but after that I now forward to a reply to the original sender and its all good.
I always plug my iphone into my PC at work every day, and therefore I get my calendar and contacts sunced automatically. I looked at mobileme but to be honest I cant see that it gives me that much more over i-tunes syncing. Although no copy and paste is a killer!

Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!

Yes the phone belongs to me. It was purchased from United Kingdom Vodafone to West Africa, i had to factory unlock to use any sim in it. so it belongs to me. I did the activation myself, now after updating my iphone to the latest update, it required a user id and password to activate the phone, but anytime i enter the details, it tells me the user Id is not correct but the password is correct..

In order to use your Apple ID to create an iCloud account, the primary email address associated with the ID must first be verified. To do this, Apple will send a verification email to your account and you must respond to the email by clicking the Verify Now link. Make sure you are check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

The App store is a iOS function and cannot be deleted. Try checking other home screens/folders and see if you can locate it. If not, go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

How to solve this problem that I havei've had a few issues like this.
I've found that it is an issue with items that are already on your phone.
several troubleshoots.
1) uncheck everything from syncing (apps, music, tv shows, movies, podcasts, etc), try to perform a sync, it most likely will work. Then, sync after checking each item individually (check the sync box for videos, then sync, check the sync box for podcasts, then sync, check the sync box for music, then sync, etc). One of two things will happen, 1) you will fix the problem, or 2) you will identify exactly what part of the sync setup is the culprit.
2) if the above doesn't work, I've found that it is likely an issue with files that are on your phone but your phone doesn't exaclty recognize (for example, I had copies of music on my phone that didn't show up in the music app, I went in on itunes and manually deleted those songs from my phone and that fixed the sync). to do this, check the "manually manage music and videos" box at the bottom of "summary" while your phone is connected to itunes. Then, go to the left hand pane in itunes and find your iphone device, click the drop-down arrow that shows all the categories for media on your iphone. Go to the music category in your iphone on itunes and delete all the music that shows up. Try to perform a sync - it likely will work. After this, you can uncheck the manually manage music box and re-sync your phone as normal

First try resetting your phone - hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work restore the phone using Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
And if that fails it is probably a hardware failure (unless the phone is jailbroken; then that is the problem). -
Whenever I am sending a MSG from my iPhone 4s to friends who don't have I phone or I device my smiley(emoji) seen to be square to them and when they send MSG to me with a smiley my iPhone shows :-) ;-p like symbols. Please help I want to receive smiley from my friend
I think you answered your own question. As your friends phones are not iPhones, but maybe Nokia or Android the smiley will appear as a different character or box. Thew only way to fix this would be to send a basic smile using the basic keyboard so that your friends will receive it as a smile and you will when they reply. Or ask your friends to check if the phones they are using have the emoji type keyboard available and ask them to update their phones. This will show the smiley when they reply to you.

If you go to the computer where your sync your phone to and open itunes and then go to edit in the tool bar then preferences then device preferences then devices.. hover the mouse pointer over your device name in the back up lists that appear there and it shows the IMEI

Check first if your iTunes is up-to-date. If it's updated, try using a different cable or try plugging it to a different USB port.

Photoshop CC program error when opening or placing files. VERY FRUSTRATING PLEASE HELP.
I'm an advertising graduate student that relies heavily on Adobe programs for my multiple simultaneous projects throughout the school year, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Muse, Edge Animate and Premiere Pro.
I'm using a MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite.
I have been experiencing an incredibly frustrating issue with Photoshop and Muse, both CC 2014. I'll speak about Photoshop in this thread since, well, this is a Photoshop forum. This has been happening for almost a year now. I figured Adobe would've fixed this problem by now, especially given the myriad of crash reports I send.
While working in Photoshop, sometimes when I go to place a file I get an error message that says "Could not complete your request because of a program error." It used to be that this error was fatal and I would have no other choice but to force quit out of Photoshop and restart it. We all know how incredibly time-consuming it is for Photoshop to open (especially 10-15 times in one sitting), and being in grad school, time is not something I have a lot of when I have deadlines and projects due.
This error is still happening and for the same reasons; however, now I can still continue to work on my file, as long as I don't need to open a document or place an image...which doesn't help very much because I'm doing a lot of mockups and composites and need those functionalities. It happens probably 90% of the time when I try to place or open a document.
For the record, it's a similar issue that's causing Muse to crash as well. When I try to add an image file, it causes the entire program to crash "unexpectedly," as Muse so eloquently puts it.
Until recently I had kept CS6 on my hard drive and would dig it out to use in place of CC when PSCC would crash; however, someone told me that having both versions was likely the cause for the crashes. After much hesitation, I finally uninstalled all of CS6 from my hard drive the other day (the right way, not into the trash can, since someone is inevitably going to ask that question) and I'm still having this problem, and now I don't have my CS6 version to fall back on and now I'm in a really bad spot.
I apologize for all the rambling, but I'm really very, very frustrated with this error, and I had to do something while waiting for Photoshop to restart. Someone please help.MacOS 10.10? Yeah, Apple is working on that bug. They already fixed the crash in the open/save dialogs, but have a few more problems to address with the open/save dialogs.
