Iphone 3G intermittently does not ring after 4.01 update

I am having an issue with my Iphone 3G after I've done both the 4.0 and 4.01 updates in that it intermittently will not allow phone calls to go through. The calls get sent to VoiceMail rather than ringing. The phone is not on vibrate. I'm not sure if this may be related to the Wi-fi issues that I've seen posted here. It is intermittent so it's hard to pinpoint when this occurs. Has anyone else had this similar issue and what can be done to fix this? I don't want to upgrade to the Iphone 4. Thanks

This happens to me too, occasionally, and I am on 4.1. I'm new to the iPhone, and there really do seem to be a lot of bugs, for a phone that's supposed to be a leader in the market. Can't say I'm all that impressed.

It appears your devices are experiencing audio issues. The following article provides steps which may help you find a solution:
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support
Follow these steps and test the sound after each one.
Go to Settings > Sounds and drag the Ringer And Alerts slider to turn the volume up.
If you can hear sound from the speaker, then the speaker works. Continue with these steps to find the setting or switch that's affecting the sound. If you can't hear sound from the speaker, contact Apple Support.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is set to ring. If you can see orange, it's set to silent.
Restart your device.
Open an app that has music or sound effects. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons or the slider in Control Center.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.
If there's still no sound, connect a headset. If you can hear sound through the headset, remove it and clear any dust or debris from the headset jack of your device.
If the device is in a case, make sure that the case doesn't block the speaker.
Use a brush to gently clear any debris from the speaker and Lightning connector (or 30-pin dock connector). The brush should be clean and dry and have soft bristles.
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.

Phone does not ring after using Bluetooth

I have an iPhone 5 with IOS 8.1. My phone does not ring or notify me of incoming texts. This happens after I connect to Bluetooth. If I reselect my ringtone, the phone works, until the next time I use Bluetooth. It seems like a bug in a recent update.

I had same issue. My phone will not ring or get text sounds when locked. This morning my alarm did not make a sound neither. Thanks to my dog who woke me up. My "do not disturb" was on. It's the moon on your quick menu. I wish the phone will let you know the "do not disturb" is on when you hit the home button to use the phone. I was not aware of this feature on my quick menu.

IPhone UIWebView width does not fit after zooming + orientation change

I created a bare bones iPhone/iPad app with a UIWebView (Scales Page to Fit = YES, shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation = YES) and loaded a webpage, e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/

The web page fits the width nicely. Rotate the device, the webpage continues to fit the width nicely. Good.
Incorrect: Zoom into the page and zoom out. Now rotating the device shows UIWebView in a weird width in one of the orientation (if u zoom in+out landscape, the portrait width becomes weird, vice versa). This behavior is fixed only after you navigate to another page (or [webview reload]).
Correct: Load the same URL in *Mobile Safari* on the same device. Rotating works & the width always fits properly, regardless of the zooming interaction.
Is this a UIWebView bug (probably not)? Or is there something that needs to be done to make things "just work" like in Mobile Safari?

IPhone Backlight Intermittently Does Not Turn On

I have been experiencing a weird issue with my 3GS where sometimes (very infrequently ~once every other day) when click the home or sleep button to turn the display on the backlight does not come on. I can see the stuff on the screen but its really dim because the backlight isn't on. I can interact with everything but the light just isn't on. If I lock the phone and then hit the home/sleep button the screen turns on fine with the backlight on.
I went to the Apple store today and they "reseated" the cable but the problem is still happening.
Anyone have any idea? Is this software related? Hardware? I had a 2G iPhone before and this never happened. Does this happen to 3G owners? Or is this purely a 3GS issue?

My original iphone developed problem with mute switch. On 7/14 I made the two hour round-trip to the apple store where I received OUTSTANDING service and a replacement phone. In the past 5 days, the backlight has become a real problem and I can now make the backlight fail by simply shaking the phone; don't think this is part of the "shake to shuffle" feature of the ipod
Opened case with Apple support and was asked to "reset" the phone and then "restore the phone". After trying both; problem still exists. Knowing that shaking the phone results in the behavior, the problem is most likely a connector. However, I cannot afford to make another 2-hour round-trip to the "local" store. Apple support has been great so far and I sure hope to report back a positive result from this incident too.

IPhone 3G - 3G Does not work after upgrading to 4.2.1

Once again Apple has screwed something up. Upgraded to 4.2.1 on Friday and now my 3G reception does not work. I've factory restored and still no good. Whats up with the quality control these days? Seems as if every software update across iOS and Mac OS/X has at least 1 major flaw.
Does Apple read these posts?

my problem is more curious i use 4.2.1. on a 3g iphone which is "open" from italy
my network is kpn/simyo
4.2 everything worked... no tethering offered
4.2.1. most apps including safari weather etc are not able to use the data network,but the NS dutch railways app is able to use the data connection
and suddenly i get offered tethering in the network settings
But the screen for manually set your network settings is disappaered, so as my provider cant send setup files to my phone makes it impossible to manually setup a phone network, which is strange for an "open" never been locked iphone
Will see what happens the next day as there are more buggs reported about network and 4.2.1.
WIFI works perfectly....
Was planning to buy an iphone 4 but if apple cant guarantee the use of what you buy..... by issuing software with flaws..... If they would just offer a downgrade option for software..

IWork (Pages) does not work after last system update!

since some days (after last system update) iWork programms are not starting any more!

hi - i think you should not use 'xhost +' - it's not secure and you shouldn't need it....
in your .bashrc or .cshrc or whatever, you should have setenv DISPLAY .0 or the equivalent export...
then ssh -Y hostname should be all you need... no xhost, and not setting DISPLAY every time...
could you enter the following command from a terminal window and post back the results?
grep X11 /etc/ssh*_config

Airplay does not work after the last update on iMac

Today I have instaled the last updates on my iMac and the AirPlay mirroring on my AppleTV does not work anymore. I can hear the sound but the video doesn't work. Somebody knows how to fix this? Really dissapponted with Apple products.

Try resettng the SMC and PRAM each 2-3 times, then post back.

Firefox does not open after Windows 7 updates

After Windows 7 updates installed, Firefox 4.0.1 refuses to start. I click on the shortcut, the hourglass (blue circle in Windows 7) pops up for a couple of seconds, then it goes away, and no Firefox.
Chrome and IE work fine.
I have followed the tips on the "Firefox won't start" pages.
In Task Manager, there is a 4,796k Firefox process, which I then end. If I attempt to start Firefox multiple times, I get different processes in Task Manager, of different sizes.
I removed and re-installed Firefox 4.0.1. It made no difference. I even chose to have it delete all my customizations. No luck.
I cannot start Firefox in Safe Mode. When I try, the same thing happens (hourglass, then nothing)
I cannot start the Profile Manager. I created a new user in Windows, logged in as that user, and tried starting Firefox, but the same thing happened. This leads me to believe that it is not a profile issue.
I do not get a crash report.

Which Windows 7 updates were installed? Were these rated as "Critical"?
Microsoft usually releases updates on 'Patch Tuesday' which always takes place on the second Tuesday of the month. That won't take place for another two weeks yet. I'm not aware of any out-of-band updates.

Satelite P300 does not boot after failed Bios update

I have tried to update the bios of a P300 using this :

Toshiba Windows 7 - 32 Bit 4.20-WIN32 World Wide
Which I downloaded from here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK after entering my laptops specifications.
The flash process hanged during the update and the laptop became unbootable, blank screen when powering on and nothing else...
I tried using the Phoenix Emergency Crisis application, created a floppy disk with the Bios image file that I have earlier downloaded but managed nothing.
The USB floppy driver access the floppy when entering the recovery mode, I hear some beeps that indicate that a process takes places, but when everything stops and reboot...the problem remains.
-Has anyone got a clue what to do next?
-Is the warranty void after a bios update attempt?

You should check the forum content or with other words, use the forum search firstly before you ask something. Failed BIOS update is not unusual and can happen always. The forum contains already a lot threads about this and the only solution is contacting an ASP. The guys have professional tools to recover it.

I upgraded to iOS 7.0.4 and my iPhone phone stopped ringing and many, but not all speaker functions stopped working. I have tried everything including Reset to Factory Settings. Earbuds work. Help!!!

Solution found: iphone 5, iOS 7.0.6
Settings > General > Restrictions > (enter passcode) > ...scroll down to "privacy" section and select Microphone > Tick "Allow Changes"
Then open Skype App, and it will request access to the Microphone > Allow
Note, on this screen you have the option to disable all restrictions, or Allow (un-restrict) only specified Apps (e.g. Siri).

After applying the most recent software upgrade my phone no longer rings.
The alarm works fine. I checked Sounds and it is on, volume is up
and a tone is set. What happened? Anyone else experience this?

Double check that you don't have DND turned on - settings - DND - off.
