IPhone 3G intermittently not compatible with Apple Dock / Component Video

I purchased a new Apple Dock and Component Video cable for my 3G. Both original Apple parts.
On the first day it all worked perfectly. Now it seems I have a 50/50 chance of getting the "this device not compatible with iPhone - switch to airplane mode" dialog when I place the iPhone in the dock. This is about a week old now.
Anyone else seen this? I haven't noticed any pattern. Frustratingly random.
Same thing happens with my JBL On Stage IIIP dock (supposed to be compatible) - I just thought it was because it was 3rd-party junk but apparently not.

The iPhone Bluetooth Headset packaging has been updated to not include a Dual-dock, and the suggeested retail price updated to $99.
The travel cable does work with the iPhone 3G and original iPhone.

Aperture is not compatible with Apple TV

Apple Support has confirmed that the preview function in Aperture is not compatible with Apple TV. Don't buy Aperture if you want the same resolution on Apple TV! Stick with iPhoto!!

Works fine here, but must note that only a single Aperture Library can be selected, and this is to the exclusion of the iPhoto Library.
Right-click on the Aperture Library and choose Show Package Contents. Look for the iPod Photo Cache folder, and open it. Is it populated by lots of subfolders, which in turn have content? What is the date that the iPod Photo Cache was last modified. You may not be able to check this now, having dumped Aperture, as you say.
This folder is the source of what iTunes will see for sharing. It probably can be removed, and then rebuilt by selecting what to Share. Or maybe just removing its contents, and rebuild the selections. But there is one per Aperture Library, and one in the iPhoto library, which is why only one source can be used to sync.

IPhone not compatible with Apple camera adapter

FYI: I tried to use the little white Apple camera adapter with my Olympis and iPhone this morning. Got the "Accessory not compatible" message.

Does it say "Not Compatible with iPhone" or "Not Made for iPhone?" Because from what I understand, some accessories that come up as "Not Made for iPhone" will still work, they just haven't been designed to specifically work with the phone.
In any event, the phone may offer to put you into Airplane Mode to avoid any kind of wireless interference but that's just a precaution, and the adapter may still work.
My iHome comes up with a message that says it's "Not Made for iPhone" but it still works with the phone.

My new iphone software is not compatible with itunes

I recenty up downloaded the new software on my iphone and Ipad. Now I cannot plug into itunes on my Mac. It said the software is not compatible. I have tried to udgrade my itunes and download the lastes version, but apparently my Mac (brought in 2007) is not compatible with the new itunes. Im really not happy about the situation as you will appreciate as now I cannot update music, photo's etc.
Can someone please help? what can I do? I dont think its fair that I should have to spend money on upgrading anything just because I upgraded to the new iphone software.

IOS 7.1.2 apps will not install on the iPhone - error message "not compatible with this iPhone"???

I am using a 4s with ios 7.1.2 and recently any app I am trying to use or load will not work and I get error message the app is not compatible with my iPhone; however, the requirements in every case indicate they are compatible with 4s and ios 6 and greater. Thanks, unfortunately that is another problem that is occurring, when I go to Update Software I get the message that software is up to date, with version being 7.1.2, I have tried to update through itunes, wifi, etc, and it indicates the software is up to date.

ITunes Video not compatible with 5th generation 60GB video iPod

I downloaded several videos from the iTunes store to my Mac G4 1.67 powerbook. When updating my iPod, I received a message that some of the videos, really only one, was not downloaded to the iPod because the format was not compatible with my new 5th generation iPod. It seems to play fine on my G4. How can there be a compatibility problem with at video purchased from iTunes and downloaded to a Mac and transferred to a 5th generation iPod ? Who is writing the review? It's not an apple official. How reliable is information in reviews? I've read reviews that have incorrect information. Why not put the fact that a course is incompatible with iPod right in the course description. It would save a lot of time and wasted bandwidth. Why was the book allowed to be downloaded onto an unsupported device?

Version 4.3.3 (8J2) not compatible with Bose docking station

I recently update my new ipod touch to version 4.3.3(8J2) and it is no longer compatible with my Bose docking station, no sound coming out from the speakers but able to recharge the battery).
How can I go back to plain version 4.3 or get a compatible version?

My ATV will not allow me to synch an MP4 movie Chef to the ATV as it says it is not compatible, yet I can watch the same movie in iTunes. It is the 160gb ATV

Rented movie won't play "not compatible with Apple TV"

Using my apple tv, i rented a movie from the iTMS. When I try to play it I get an error message saying it can't be played because it's incompatible with Apple TV.
Troubleshooting: I unplugged the ATV for more than 5 minutes and replugged it. I checked to see whether purchased music still plays (it does) and whether purchased tv shows still play (they do). I can also go to iTMS and view previews of movies.
So everything seems to be working, except this movie. (I have two other rented movies but they don't expire for a couple weeks; this one expires in 22 hours so it's sort of imperative i view it today or lose it, and i can't do the one final test -- see if the other rented movies play ok -- because then the 24-hour ticker on those would start, and i'd have only enough time to watch one of them, and not the one that's already set to expire in 24 hrs.
ironically, the only support thread i could find on this particular error message for apple TV-acquired media, involves this same movie, "An American Rhapsody". That question was posted more than a year ago and never was resolved. (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1492298)
It's a little frustrating that the only apple support i could find for this issue is email support, promising me an answer within 24 hrs. So it's unlikely an answer will come in time. Maybe they'll help arrange a credit to my account after the fact. But (and i'm a big fan generally of apple and apple support) it seems like there ought to be customer service to cover the situation where someone buys (in this case, rents) something and can't get the promised product.
I've spent 90 minutes trying to solve this and the friend who was going to watch it with me just left, but i'm still curious to see if anyone can propose a fix. thanks!

you should use the "report a problem" link that is on the email invoice you get.
this will take you to the itunes section to report an issue with a particular purchase.
or go to "view my account" in itunes and then choose "purchase history"
if it didn't work you'll most likely get a refund.

'09 mini not compatible with mini-DVi to video adapter?

I hooked up my new '09 mini to my AV receiver via Apple's mini-DVI to video adapter but got no picture. My previous mini ('06 model) worked fine w/ the DVI to video adapter. I'm thinking the mini-DVI port on the new mini doesn't pass analog signals anymore, i.e., it's now DVI-D vs previously being DVI-I.
Anyone else have this experience w/ the '09 models? I know it works with the older models. I'm just trying to figure out if I have a defective adapter or if the '09 mini's DVI just doesn't pass analog. I noticed the supplied mini-DVI to DVI cable is DVI-D, so maybe that is a hint.

I doubt that'd work. Usually these adapters work by connecting "legacy" wires on the newer connectors to an older interface. The mac actually produces all the appropriate signals, and the adapter just hooks the wires together appropriately.
It sounds like the only analog signals the mac is producing are Red-Green-Blue signals, like you'd use for VGA or component video. It's not producing a composite video signal. So if you convert mini-DVI to VGA, the composite line is going to be dead on both.
The only kind of adapter that could help you would be one with some amount of circuitry that actually pastes the Red-Green-Blue signal into a composite signal. Something like:

It won't detect the wireless network, I have a time capsule with an airport express.
I have another network that is not an apple hardware and that runs fine but slightly weak.
At the office I also have time capsule based wireless network and there it is the same issue.
Contacted apple support but they had no idea and as they cannot support the iPhone in Belgium but rattier their crappy chosen GSM provider that the word support does not exist in their world.
My iPhone 3GS works like a charm.

IPhone 4 will not activate with Apple for update

No matter how hard I try, or how many times I try I cannot get my sister in law's iPhone 4s to update it's software to 5.1 Despite it being connected to a strong wireless signal that I managed to update mine from on my laptop, it downloads the update but then says '"........s iPhone cannot be updated at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable."
I have been trying to update my brother in law's iphone 4 from 4.3.2 to 5.0.1 also for over a month, when I go around and visit, was always the same message. I thought it may have been his phone.
I feel I am missing something fairly basic here. The phones download the updates in iTunes, they backup, iTunes extracts the software update, but it gives in when it's time to connect to Apple and verify the update. Doesn't matter how many times I try it.
Any ideas?

Could it be that the server is using a custom port, while using the standard port for something else? Mail sync should not be related to MacBook. But it helps if you open your mail app on Mac to verify all settings.

WRE54G not compatible with Apple Laptop

Took forever to install this thing and get it working--only somewhat, with my set-up: Belkin Wireless Pre-N router with cable modem Apple iMac desktop Dell PC laptop -- it works fine Apple laptop -- not working at all After hours on the phone with tech support, had it working with only the PC, not on the MAC. At certain times, was able to ping the router, and although the airport status icon showed a connection, I couldn't on the Internet--kept getting "Not connected to Internet" messages on the browser. So more hours with tech support and finally went to the Apple Store==they told me to change my WEP security to WPAPersonal, it worked for all of a New York second and now back to the same old story. I also changed my TCP/IP settings on the Apple laptop to match what was done to the PC laptop, no luck. I am going to return this thing on Monday (today is Saturday) if I can't get it to work on the MAC--which is why I bought this thing to begin with. Any thoughts out there?

To my knowledge, there's no solution (or at least no one has replied with one to my posting).

Arch not compatible with Cairo Dock

it turns out using menu system in Cairo Dock on Arch is not possible due to Arch sporting newest Python 3 rather than 2.
Is there any workaround for it?
I do need this menu (be it Cardapio, Lancelot or Gnomenu) because (it's just one of the reasons) I have no other way of accessing logout/restart/shutdown/hibernate menu). I am using xfce and in right click menu there is no such option.
This is the only thing still keeping me on Windows.

You should not be bound to an app for this kind of basic functionality. The only thing you should do is create an app launcher and use the commands on this page ('The Modern Way'):

Google Chat/Video Chat not compatible with Apple PPC

I have a G3 B/W Mac upgraded with a G4 Sonnet Processor. My unit operates on OS X 10.4.11 Tiger. Google states that the minimum Mac operating system for their Chat/Video Chat plugin is 10.4. But when I try to install their plugin, it states that the plugin does not support a Mac PPC even though it is operating on the minimum operating system. Does anyone know why?

For the "YayWho" on the Gmail Discussion who implied that the only reason we are complaining is because we want something for Nothing and Google is putting a lot of effort behind this venture. I am a Stroke Survivor on a limited income. My B/W G3 PPC is fully functional and I could not afford to dump my Mac and replace it. I would be OK with just having the Chat feature. But there are a lot of US, PPC Users. If the minimum Operating System requirement is Mac OS X 10.4, Google should support any and all hardware that use the OS X 10.4.x platform.
