IPhone 3G - iOS 4.1 Update Issue

Question

Ok, I don't know whether anyone has had this problem before, but my iPhone won't complete its update progress. It's stuck at approximately half way of the bar and stops completely. It's been sitting here for a couple of hours now.
I really do not know what the deal is with this! It's really driving me nuts. I'll be taking this over to the apple store tomorrow to get it checked, but until there are there any suggestions that can be made to hasten the fix for this poor iPhone? * I wish I had a 4 *

Don't worry, it's syncing you'll want to keep an eye on. Restoring from another computer is completely safe, all you have to do is once it actually finishes restoring it'll ask you (in iTunes) whether you want to setup as a new phone or as a backup. Obviously you won't have your backup on that machine, so you'll just have to unplug your phone (prior to setting up as a new phone) and plug it into your normal machine. It'll ask you (again) whether you want to setup as a new phone or use your backup (which would be on the machine you'd be using now). Then viola! You're phone is working again.
Take care not to setup your phone on the alternate machine, just use it as a restoring centre.
Again, it's still your risk. I did mine using these steps which fixed my phone. I was, also, able to use the backup that I had on my original machine, no problem.
