IPhone 3G IOS4.0.1 restore errors

I'm trying to restore iphone3G to 4.0.1 from last 2 days but every time i got errors related to USB. errors like 2003,2005,2009,14 etc. believe me i tried almost every form. every time i plug my Iphone3G to PC it says "This device can perform faster please plug this in hi-speed USB 2.0 port". i tried all my USB ports but nops. and yes i have Enhanced USB 2.0 port according to my XP hardware device manager.
some times ITunes got my IPhone and start restoring IPhone with IOS4.0.1 but got error(described above) in very initial phase of of restoring.
here are the solutions i already tried
1) i change IPhone data cable (4 cables exact )
2) try to restore IPhone on 3 different computers XP SP2 all.
3) Already read all try Apple USB troubleshooting (try different USB ports, security software bla bla bla)
4) Reinstall iTunes several times
5) try many times in DFU + Recovery mode.
6) i updated my Bios and motherboard driver too.
here is the conclusion of problem i thought can be. every time i plug IPhone it is associated with normal USB1.0 i think if it some how associated with USB2.0 then my problem solved but i tried all USB ports.
c'mon pros tell me some thing. and last thing i can not visit IPhone store because I'm in Pakistan for next 2 months where no Apple support is available.

Same issue with me, and it's very frustrating. My Macbook can see and attempt to pair with my iPhone 3GS, but my phone doesn't seem to want to play ball. I never had this problem until I upgraded to IOS 4.1 (it may have existed in IOS 4, but I just never noticed). Any word on a fix for this? Um, Apple, I'd like to tether my phone again please!

I forgot my passcode, then I decided to restore through Itune but it says iphone 3 could not be restored error 1015 occurred. what should I do?

Was the computer used to jailbreak a different iOS device? Are you trying to forcibly install a version of iOS other than the current version for your device? (4.2.1 for the 3G, 6.0.1 for the 4 and 4S, 6.0.2 for the 5).
Those are the only other reasons you would get that error other than an extremely rare hardware failure.

  • My iPhone won't finish a restore, error -50

I installed new security software in September of this month.  I didn't think it would have an impact on the updates for my iPhone via iTunes.  The last time I did an update, it asked if I wanted to restore.  I did, however it didn't finish the restore.  So, now every time I plug my iPhone into my computer (iTunes starts up), it asks if I want to finish the restore.  I say "yes" and immediately an error message pops up saying "unable to finish restore, error -50."  From reading the articles online, I've made sure I've got the most recent iTunes (check); all the updates for my computer are done (check); and it appears the next step is to temporarily uninstall security software.  Any ideas?

Can you use your iPhone at all? If so, you can do a restore from the phone.
Go to Settings > General > Reset (at the bottom) > Erase All Content and Settings.

  • Iphone 3gs could not be restored Error 1, iphone 3gs could not be restored Error 1

I got an iphone 3gs as a replacement for my old one when i was in US when it was working just fine, HOwever, when i flew over to Nepal and wanted to use the iphone, it was stuck in the apple logo and would not start. It would just turn off and show the apple logo cycle. So, I tried  to restore it by connecting it my laptop which i had a hard time with. finally got it do dfu mode and restore it but gave me 3194. After that i went on youtube to get past the 3194 error which i did. But at the very end of the restoration process( where the bar is full under the apple logo) i had to wait for about 5 to 10 mins and gave me error 1. I have tried it about 20 times but no luck.
Is there anyone who had the same problem? I went to an authorized apple service center who told me that the warranty valid in US is not valid in Nepal.

It seems as though your phone has been tampered with beyond what Apple would support. The error messag appears when an iPhone has been downgraded or jailbroken. Unfortunately, this voids the warranty with Apple and they are unable to provide technical support.
I'd recommend taking a look at these support resources for people with similar problems:

  • My solution to iphone 3Gs 4.3.2 restore error 29 and 1611

-had error 1611 initially when i tried to restore my iphone due to phone rebooting every now and then. phone will just shut down by itself before the bar even begin to load.
-resolved error 1611 by uninstalling and deleting every traces of itunes and apple, reinstalling itunes and then restoring again.
-restore bar began to load on the iphone screen but 3/4 way through, phone rebooted by itself and it shows error 29 on itunes.
After a few hours of searching and trying EVERYTHING YOU CAN FIND ON THE NET, i realised i am using iphone 4's usb cable. took a leap of faith and switched to my 3gs cable (and switched to a different usb port just to be extra safe) and TADA restoration was successful.
Am unsure whether the rebooting problem still persists or not, but at least my phone isn't stuck at the recovery screen anymore.
I have tried basically EVERYTHING. irecovery, ireb, tinyumbrella, youtube, all kinds of things, deleting the apple sentence in hosts file, brought my phone to my local telco (starhub in singapore, and the person asked me for $350 to get a "new" set from apple. ***??), and the above is the only solution that worked for me.
Hope my input helps. sorry if i posted this in the wrong section

I think the answer is: "dont bother", there is nothing useful that bluetooth can do with a host, but tethering.  See https://discussions.apple.com/message/15981368#15981368

  • IOS4 update, restore error

While updating my iphone 3G it asks for a restore... but it won't, says an unexpected error occurred, error code 9. Tried different usb cables, different macbooks, nothing works.. My phone won't work ..
Anyone else have the same problem, even better, know how to fix this?

I had about the same problems yesterday while updating to iOS4. My error was 0xE800006B: this iPhone could not be restored. Unknown error. NOT FUNNY when you see that on screen for the first time. Xcuuuuse me????. Another error seen in the process was 0xE8000065.
    After a 7 hours I did this (I must admit by then I also almost gave up on my phone) ;
-shut of iPhone with top- and homebutton.
    -Open iTunes.
-Connect iPhone to the cable and hold your home button pressed. It takes longer than useual but hold on!
-Wait until you see the iTunes logo with usb wire on your phone.
-Keep holding on to the home button!
-Computer says that it has made connection to an iPhone that needs to be restored.
-Follow instructions on computer and it will immediately start restoring your software and firmware. This takes a few minutes.
-Hold on to homebutton until you see the Apple logo.
-And be patient....again! iPhone will come to live in a few minutes!!!
-After all this close iTunes (I downloaded a new version of iTunes) and open again and connect the phone. I believe I had to disconnect the usb cable once.
-DON'T restore your old settings because the phone will get back in the same loop as before and give the same error again.
-Setup as a new iPhone. (Unfortunately you will lose some dat in your phone such as text messages, foto's, music and notes. For example I had the Passwords App and lost a lot of important passwords.)
-Now it will synchronize to the agenda's, adressbook, e-mail and all of your Apps you already had.
-After lots of stressful hours I was back in business with my iPhone
-Good luck! I hope this will work for others too!
-I'm now going to make sure that Apple will hear of this.

    Hey jestinsinclairr,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
After reviewing your post, it sounds like you had one issue and then got a second trying to resolve the first. A frustrating situation for sure. The first article linked has what to do if it is not powering on unless plugged in. The second article addresses the error you are receiving when trying to restore.

  • Cannot restore iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4, error 2001 and 2006

My iPhone 5 (AT&T, purchased on March 2013) suddenly went blank - without being dropped down, or *drowned* in water/ liquid - then a blinking (Apple) logo ...
Following Internet forums, I kept the "Home" button pressed a while, the sign of an USB cable attemting to connect to iTunes appeared.
iTunes asked me to restore, I agreed, it downloaded the "iPhone5,1_6.1.4_10B350_Restore.ipsw", then extracted, then verifying with Apple for a while, then appeared the message that this iPhone cannot be restored, error 2001.
I retried, same result, sometime the error is 2006.
I retried with another MacBook Pro, then iMac, same error 2006 or 2001 !
Strange thing : when trying in iTunes in Windows 8 (via BootCamp on those same iMacs, MacBook Pro), the error changed to error 21 !!!
I'd tried in several other ways :
    01. DFU (pressing both "Home" and "Power" buttons ... ...),
    02. turn off Intego/ Sophos/ ClamXav,
    03. delete that .ipsw file to download a new one,
    04. remove the iPhoneUpdater.log files, pretending to cheat the system
    05. confirm via System Information that I am plugging the iPhone only to one of the USB Hi-Speed Buses (thinking error 2001 & 2006 relates to USB ports)
... the *iFool* beauty keeps sleeping like ... a brick !
Any help would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
    BAKZOO.

Hey guys, i have the same issue.
Yesterday my iphone lost network, i turned it off, and wanted to turn on, but iphone didn't react.
Once i plugged charging cable in, apple logo appeared, then screen went black, then apple logo appeared once again. So it seems like iphone goes into reboot after apple logo appears.
I connected iphone to macbook pro while holding home button, itunes showed me iphone 5 in recovery mode, then iOS was downloaded, but recovery didn't even started. Every time it shows me 2001 error. Sometimes recovery fails with 2006 error. I tried to change USB port, tried another original USB cable, tried another macbook pro, both are updated to OS X 10.8.4, iTunes 11.0.4(4), but the same 2001 error comes up over and over again.
I did everything that official support advises on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694?viewlocale=ru_RU&locale=ru_RU#error2001, but nothing really helps
Any ideas on what might help? There's no Apple stores here in Uktraine so i can not return my iphone and get a new one

My iphone 5c says connect to itunes. It won't update/restore; error message (27) comes up. I also haven't backed the phone up since last year. HELP.

    Hi there owain11,
It looks like that particular error may be realted to a hardware issue. Take a look at the article below for more information.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • IPhone 5 won't boot up, error 4005 when trying to restore!

First things first - English is not my first language so please excuse the errors I make. If anything is unclear/badly explained just say so and I will do my best to try again.
I am the (right now not so) happy owner of a iPhone 5 64GB since late april. It was purchased online in the germal localization of apple store.
For a month or two everything was alright, but suddenly the phone went out and restarted - at first I panicked a bit, but after a few weeks without any problems I thought that was a one time occurrence. Then it happend again. And again. And again. Sometimes it didn't restart for over an hour. (This was especially aggravating while I travelled and all my tickets were on that phone.) This all was while iOS 6.X was still a thing.
I updated to iOS 7 as soon as it was out and it worked well for some weeks. Then it broke down again and didn't boot at all, it was looped in the process. I panicked and googled and restored it successfully via restore mode. (Against all advice from backup though.)
It worked for a while but a few days ago it broke down again. Annoyed I wanted to repeat it, but restore mode wouldn't work anymore! That "connect to iTunes" symbol won't even show up and iTunes doesn't recognize the phone.
I tried DFU mode, iTunes now connected and initiated the restore process. But while it showed "Waiting for iPhone" the phone (in DFU mode!) suddenly tried to restart over and over (logo showing and fading and showing again...). Everytime I got "Error 4005". (That seems to be a error usually occurring when a cable or an adapter is broken, so I believe that the rebooting of the phone "broke" the connection to iTunes or something?)
    What I tried so far:
    Switching cables
    Crying
    Different computers
my main computer (Win7 64 Pro), with my full iTunes library
a new account on my main computer, iTunes without a linked ID
my MacBook Air (OSX Lion) with a linked iTunes and, after reinstalling, a "blank" one
another computer with Win7 64 Pro and a virginal iTunes (this got Error 4014 the first time, after that also 4005)
    "Repaired" Apple Mobile Device Support
    Crying some more
I haven't had a phone for several days now and I'm giving up. I will contact support tomorrow.
But is there ANYONE who knows this problem? I know that the reboot loop is notorious, but that even DFU mode (and yes, I used it correctly) doesn't work? Hardware defect? (I was VERY gentle with the phone...)
Any help, information and last straws would be very much appreciated. I still hope I simply overlooked something obvious.
    Thank you!

Yesterday (April 14, 2014), my 32Gb iPhone 5S running ios 7.1 unexpectantly shutdown. After plugging it in to the MacBook that I normally sync to, iTunes told me that the iPhone was in Restore mode. After some seaching on the web, I decided to let iTunes proceed with what it claimed was the only course; a restore. It claimed that all data would be erased. I went ahead since I had a backup (old). The MacBook didn't have a copy of the most recent iOS (7.1), so it downloaded v7.1, verified it and started working with the iPhone. After a minute (roughly) the iPhone lit up, but didn't proceed past the Apple logo. iTunes eventually showed an error saying the operation was unsuccessful; ending with (4005). Apple support suggested I turn off "Find My iPhone" from iCloud. Tried that, no change in the result. I tried the restore procedure again, but this time after the restore error appeared, I dismissed the error and left the iPhone plugged in to the Mac. After a few more minutes the iPhone continued to start up! I was able to backup all data locally to my Mac, and then complete the Restore. A fresh install of iOS 7.1 and a restore from backup gave me my phone back. In summary, don't give up if you see error (4005). Hope this helps someone. And back up your phone regularly!
