Iphone 3g ios4 fast now
so i did an update to ios4 and like most people here it sucked badly
so slow apps took forever battery life sucked basically all the problems.
i read everything i could find, and in the end here is what fixed it
i put my phone into recovery mode by turning it off and then pressing power and home button till the connect to itunes logo appeared.
connected it to itunes,
installed ios4.
DIDN'T restore a backup.
when phone was up and running did a reset all in the settings menu.
and now for over 2 days my iphone is fine.
some things actually run faster now, the rest are about the same.
it is a pain because its in effect a new phone and i had to set all my preferences again, but it works now
Lucky you went through backup. Mine got stuck after 25% for 4 hours. Retries ended up the same

IPhone 3G IOS4.0.1 restore errors
I'm trying to restore iphone3G to 4.0.1 from last 2 days but every time i got errors related to USB. errors like 2003,2005,2009,14 etc. believe me i tried almost every form. every time i plug my Iphone3G to PC it says "This device can perform faster please plug this in hi-speed USB 2.0 port". i tried all my USB ports but nops. and yes i have Enhanced USB 2.0 port according to my XP hardware device manager.
some times ITunes got my IPhone and start restoring IPhone with IOS4.0.1 but got error(described above) in very initial phase of of restoring.
here are the solutions i already tried
1) i change IPhone data cable (4 cables exact )
2) try to restore IPhone on 3 different computers XP SP2 all.
3) Already read all try Apple USB troubleshooting (try different USB ports, security software bla bla bla)
4) Reinstall iTunes several times
5) try many times in DFU + Recovery mode.
6) i updated my Bios and motherboard driver too.
here is the conclusion of problem i thought can be. every time i plug IPhone it is associated with normal USB1.0 i think if it some how associated with USB2.0 then my problem solved but i tried all USB ports.
c'mon pros tell me some thing. and last thing i can not visit IPhone store because I'm in Pakistan for next 2 months where no Apple support is available.Same issue with me, and it's very frustrating. My Macbook can see and attempt to pair with my iPhone 3GS, but my phone doesn't seem to want to play ball. I never had this problem until I upgraded to IOS 4.1 (it may have existed in IOS 4, but I just never noticed). Any word on a fix for this? Um, Apple, I'd like to tether my phone again please!

I am using the iphone 4s in india now. i bought it from canada (factory unlocked). But here in india. when i put my vodafone sim in 4s. It only shows th name of the carrier but dont show the range towers. i tried airtel and reliance carriers also.but the result was same. now what can i do??

While taking photos my iphone's battery died, now my photos app won't open and I can't save any pictures taken or downloaded. Please help.

during a update of apple my iphone 3GS crashed an now the operating system wont load up..ive tried to reset the phone to the factory settings using itunes it took 4 hours and completed but my phone still wont come on..what can i do to fix the problem? please help #
In trying to include what information all that I could I should have specified I DON'T KNOW THAT IT WAS DEFINATELY JAILBROKEN when I took it to the apple store they told me there's no way for them to tell if it was jail broken or not. I'm only going by what ppl have told me COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE PHONE. With that said the only thing I know for sure is that the apple tech at the Genius Bar told me that someone took control of my root menu in February & I've had no control of my phone since. I asked him how to regain control & how he knew his exact words were "oh that is out of our scope of capabilities here at this level & you would need an apple engineer to fix it". I said ok then how do I get an apple eng then? He laughed & said you can't!!!! To which I was furious I came home & called apple requesting to speak w/the fraud dept to file a report they said we don't have a fraud dept!! So after a 45 mn phone call again I left w/no answers.

I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SPEND HIRING AN ATTORNEY & Although I appreciate your suggestion I fail to how an attorney would be able to facilitate in any way since there's no suspect. I cannot prove that it's him doing it so I certainly can't pursue legal action w/no proof & no money. :'((

I was looking more for a TECHNICAL way to avoid this happening w/a new phone should I buy one or trying to get them out of my phone now! Such as installing some kind of software protection?? Someway to clear out the entire phone (other than factory reset which was done 10 x's w/no success, etc. if this person got in then there HAS TO BE A WAY OF GETTING HIM OUT, right???? -

I started with one itunes account for my iphone and ipad, and now have a second ipad linked to the same itunes. Can I set up a new itunes account for one ipad without losing what has already been downloaded on it? I want to stop my husbands downloads appearing on my ipad, and vice versa.
A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

Yes, start with deleting your account on his device:
(Settings > iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Your Account)
In the next step, create a new account on his device:

My mom updated her iPhone to iOS7, and now she has my contacts. Does this mean that she has access to all of my photos as well? How can she 'unlink' our phones? Or, is there anyway that I can get my stuff to disappear from her phone? We share iTunes account so I think we are both on the same iCloud.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you are using the same ID as a primary iCloud login, then yes she can see your photos in photostream if you have it enabled.
You can use the same ID for iTunes so you can share all your purchases, but you need different ID's for iCloud.
Unfortunately, the mess caused by sharing the ID, will need to be sorted manually, once you both have your own ID's. -
my iphone crashed during update now i have to restore but dont have my latest photos backed up ? i have a picture of itunes with the usb on my screen and cant go any further? is there a way to get it back without the update?

Manually added tracks put my iPhone over capacity. Now I can't sync. Help!
I have a number of Audiobook I tried to sync to my phone. I could not find anywhere in the iPhone settings to choose to sync these (anyone know where?). So I manually added them by dragging them from iTunes onto the iPhone.
However they are very large files and put my iPhone "over capacity". Now whenever I try to sync I get an error message saying:
"The iPhone “Mr Shiney” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 7.38 GB required)."
But I can't unselect these files! They don't appear in the "Manually Added Songs" section of the Music tab. My phone is stuck in this weird state where I can no longer sync.
I have tried deleting the songs from iTunes. But this now just says the songs couldn't be found so I still can't sync.
Should I restore from backup? Won't I lose all my app content? Any ideas what to do?
My iPhone is a 3G on iOS 4.2.1. iTunes is 10.5.Have you touched the "More" button (on the iPhone).

I had an audio book still on my iphone, it survivedf the iOS5 update.
To get rid of it, I plugged iPhone into Mac,
Go to itunes.
Click on Iphone in iTunes.
Go to Books tab,
Scroll down, there is audio books.
Choose sync selected audio books,
And untick the ones I don;t want.

US iPhone, upgraded in Europe, now a brick? Warning to others!
I'm in Switzerland for the summer, foolishly upgraded my iPhone via iTunes and now have a dead phone.
It started to throw an error message about not supporting the accessory I had plugged in (even though nothing was plugged in), then it wouldn't charge no matter the method (wall, car, laptop), and before I could back up and downgrade the software, the battery was dead and now I can't charge, sync or downgrade.
Went to the biggest Apple supplier in Zurich, didn't get far because it was a US phone ("nothing we can do...") but after calling the local Apple number I was told that I was basically SOL until I head back home.
Reason? If you up innocently upgrade while in Europe, iTunes sees you as being here, directs you to an European version, no warning, you upgrade - and the Euro upgrade isn't compatible with the US phone.
End result - dead phone, no options. The guy said they are getting a lot of calls about this, and he knew what happened as soon as I mentioned I upgrade here.
So for those in Europe, don't be as naive as me and upgrade - there will be no warning, you are guaranteed to end up with a dead phone and there's no one to help.
Finally, it will be quite some time before I do head back to the US so I'm in a jam.
Anyone know something they don't about fixing this here before I head home?I saw your discussion, and well, I did this very thing, except I brought my US iPhone to France. Upgraded, etc. It works extremely well, fingers crossed. It sounds to me like you're not "bricked" but that you have a hardware problem. If you can't plug it into the wall and charge it, well, there is something really wrong there. I don't think bricked phones do that, do they?
Let me repeat: the only hardware difference between phones of different countries would be GSM vs the US non-GSM. And the iPhone can work on lots of networks, including GSM. Why would Apple build 50 different iPhones for 50 different countries? Why can my US SIM card and my French SIM card work in the same phone, with equal results? I even have a FRENCH iTunes account, that I USED in the US to back, restore, activate, upgrade.
By the way I think it's false to claim that unlocking and unjailing or whatever, and all that, necessarily bricks your iPhone. Especially if you claim it happened by simply changing countries! So if you're desperate, well, ... I would.

PS, I heard that during any upgrading or restoring you do, AIRPLANE mode should be turned OFF! It can cause bricking, I read it on the web, so it COULD be true
