IPhone 3G is stuck syncing

I apologize for how long my question is, I simply want to thoroughly explain my issue and all of the ways I have attempted to remedy it. Thanks!!
I recently tried to sync my iPhone 3G, which mind you, is just days over one year old so is no longer covered under warranty, in iTunes.
I had not synced in a week or two and had previously had no problems. I plugged it in and iTunes said "verifying Emily's iPhone" where it would normally say "Syncing..." or "Backing up iPhone"
This didnt worry me until it continued for a few hours without changing. When i tried to click anywhere, iTunes quickly became unresponsive.
I unplugged my iPhone, restarted it, reset it, cleared all the settings, restarted my computer, reinstalled iTunes, and perhaps most dramatically, deleted my entire user account on my computer and made a new one with its own brand new, never before touched, iTunes. This means my new iTunes now holds none of my music, photos, videos, anything(however, they are all safely stored on my computer in a folder.) Nevertheless, this is like having an entire new computer. I even did a scan for viruses to make sure nothing evil was this way coming.
Throughout the entire excruciating ordeal, I continually attempted to sync my iPhone to no avail. The only change was that instead of iTunes telling me it was verifying my phone, it said that it was syncing it. I even left my phone for 10 hours with absolutely no change in the situation. The computer still simply said syncing.
When I made the new user my iPhone did succesfully sync, or so I thought. It said that my iPhone was done syncing, however no actual content on the phone had changed. None of the music or photos or videos were gone. The only thing missing was, frustratingly enough, my ringtones. I realized that nothing was selected to sync; I attempted to make them sync and my process began again. Syncing simply would not happen.
All of this leads me to believe that there is no issue with my computer. Something has to be wrong with my iPhone. Does anyone have experience with this issue? Just knowing that someone else may be having the same problem may be enough to prevent me from turning my fantasy of throwing my iPhone as hard as I physically can into a concrete wall and watching all the little pieces of Apple's precius evil baby fly everywhere, into a reality.

Try putting it in DFU mode:
Open iTunes on computer.
Connect iPhone to computer. (with the iPhone on)
Hold both home and power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release power button, keep holding home button until iPhone recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode.
Usually takes 10-20 seconds of holding the home button.
If the iPhone screen is black (blank) the iPhone is in DFU Mode.
If not try again.

    Hi Arthur Daly,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like iOS device's are not appearing in iTunes. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

After updating from ios 7.1.2 to 8.1.2, iphone got stuck syncing with itunes!
I searched for some solutions on the internet and applied following fixes:
1- Disconnected iphone from PC and closed itunes.
2- Reset the iphone by holding down the On/Off button.
3- Connected iphone back to PC to sync with itunes.
Apparently this fixed the problem, and iphone synced with itunes.

same here, but now you can't downgrade to iOS 7.x, since apple has closed the verification server for that version.

    Hello richardayoub1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is in recovery mode, you will need to restore it with iTunes.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Sounds like a possible permissions issue, try repairing the permissions using Disk Utility.
You can open Disk Utility several ways.
    1. Use the Spotlight in the Upper Right corner of the screen and search for it, then click it to open it.
    2. Open a new finder window (File> New Window)
    - Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility
    3. Click on the Finder
    - Click 'Go' in the menu bar across the top of the screen.
    - Click Utilities, then double click on Disk Utility.
Once Disk Utility is open there should be a column on the left side, the name of your hard drive should be listed there.
(By Default it is named Mac HD or Macintosh HD)
Click on it to highlight it.
There should then be a few buttons you can click
    - Verify Disk Permissions
    - Repair Disk Permissions
    - Verify Disk
    - Repair Disk
    Click Repair Disk Permissions

  • My IPhone 4 is stuck at Step 3 (Preparing to Sync). Any ideas how to complete the process?

My IPhone 4 is stuck at Step 3 (Preparing to Sync).

You may want to take a piece of paper and carefully slide it into an open slit by the power button. Be very careful since you don't want anything stuck in there.
You can always contact Apple for a replacement.

  • Iphone 4s getting stuck when syncing...

my iphone is getting stuck when trying to finish sync saying, "waiting for changes to be applied"
anyone have this problem and how to fix?
    please.

    It's me again!
I think I've located the problem (at least in my case). I use a ringtone program called iToner 2 and that is what's apparently causing a conflict and syncing issues with my iPhone. I installed my ringtones from iToner 2 and the sync issues re-occurred. After deleting my iToner 2 ringtones, I was able to sync again.
My guess is that some application that you are using that works in some way with iTunes or your iPhone is what's causing the sync issues. I would suggest finding that particular application and not using it until it gets updated to work with iTunes 10.5 and iOS5.
I hope this helps! Good Luck!

  • IPhone 6 won't sync-- stuck at "waiting for changes to be applied"

New iPhone 6, wouldn't sync to iTunes in Windows 7. made it to "waiting for changes to be applied" and would go no further. left it overnight, even.
This morning, I went through the steps detailed in other troubleshooting threads (signing out of iTunes store, rebooting phone, restarting iTunes, getting to that same step and ending sync by clicking the x) and it started syncing!
But...  I have the 128G iPhone, and I needed to leave for work. 90 minutes into the sync, I had to stop the sync.
Now I'm back at the same error, have redone all the same steps, even updated to 8.0.2, and still "waiting."
Step 5 of 5, waiting for changes to be applied.
    What can I do?

OK this is what I did:
Did a backup of my iphone to itunes & unplugged phone from computer.
Did a erase & reset on my phone to clear all data.
Plugged phone back into my computer & did a restore from backup.
Phone is now syncing & also cleared out the very large mysterious "other" file.
I can't believe tech support told me to uninstall itunes!!

  • Iphone 5s is stuck in 'waiting for changes to be applied' when syncing iTunes

I recently upgraded to the iphone 5s. When syncing between my 5s and my macbook pro it wont go beyond 'step 4- waiting for changes to be applied' no music gets transfered over and it never completes. Ive tried restarting itunes, restarting my laptop, restarting my iphone, restoring my iphone. In the summary tab of itunes ive tried to change syncing options between wifi alternatives, automatically syncing when plugged in, and 'manually manage music and video' . I've also shut off the 'find my iphone' in my iphone icloud settings (as I read in a support community posting this may work - no luck). Interestingly I got an ipad mini retina after the iphone 5s and it synced no problem with my itunes. (the new mini is crazy fast btw - so happy with it). Anyways, I'm running itunes 11.1.3 and OS X version 10.8.5 on my macbook. iphone is 7.04. Help please. I really miss having music on my phone...

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

y iPhone 4S no longer syncs after upgrading from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard 10.6.3 - any solutions out there?

Thanks - got stuck with the upgrade to 10.6.8, but Apple Support was able to navigate me through that, the date settings caused a problem here.

  • I have an Iphone which is stuck on the apple sign. Is there a way to fix this? Or will I need to go to the shop?

I have an Iphone which is stuck with the apple icon on the screen. Can this be fixed or do I need to go to the store to get it fixed?
    Thanks

When the iPhone only shows the Apple logo and then turns off, it usually indicates an issue with the software that is preventing the phone from completing it's boot sequence. This can be remedied by putting the phone into DFU mode and restoring it. By restoring the phone, the software and firmware will be removed and replaced with a fresh set and the content will be removed from the phone and need to be resynced.
To put the phone into DFU mode:
    1. Make sure the phone is connected to the computer
    2. Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for 8 seconds
    3. Let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding down the home button
    4. If you are successful, a dialog box will pop up in iTunes stating that iTunes has detected an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode and the phone's display will remain black.
    5. Click OK, then click the restore button in iTunes.
Hopefully after that, the iPhone will be up and running so you can sync your content back.
    I hope this helps!

  • IPhone 4 will not sync with Lion

Have seen multiple posts that are similar to my problem, but not exact so thought I would post the issue here:
MacBook Pro (2.8GHz Core 2 Duo)
    8GB
    500GB 7200rpm Seagate Momentus
    MS Outlook 2011
    iTunes 10.4
The Lion upgrade was pretty much flawless - with the normal problem that MS Outlook messed up my calendar (always happens with upgrades).  However, when I went to sync my iPhone 4, the sync would get stuck in syncing calendars.  Tried a bunch of things:
    - rebuilt the Outlook DB (no problems found)
    - purged old calendar events to minimize the amount of data that needed to by sync'd (can't do this in Outlook, that I have found, so purged events in iCal).
    - upgraded to IOS 4.3.5
In all cases, the iPhone is discovered by iTunes, it backs up the iPhone OK and syncs contacts.  It just gets stuck syncing the calendar - just for grins, I let it try to sync overnight and it still didn't work.  I suspect the issue might be related to the initial calendar problems I had when installing Lion, but I see no way to rebuild the iCal database (since Outlook syncs to iCal and iCal syncs to the iPhone via iTunes).
    Any ideas?

  • My iTunes won't force quit and says it's still syncing my iPhone after hours of syncing.

My iTunes won't force quit and says it's still syncing my iPhone after hours of syncing. I had plugged in my iPhone 4S in the morning before I left for school, it synced almost completely, and then it got stuck on "Finishing Sync". I pulled my iPhone out because I had to leave to go to school, and iTunes is still stuck on "Finishing Sync". I tried force quitting and restarting but it's of no use. Now I can't use iTunes at all.

Scratch that, I TRIED to shut down but I guess iTunes overrided it because it still thinks it's syncing
