IPhone 3G locks up in contact mode - cannot shut it down!

My iPhone 3G suddenly locked up in phone contacts mode and I cannot switch to any other function in the phone. The phone will not turn off, but only locks. When unlocked, it goes back to the contact page. I pressed and held the main button, and the screen now went white.
I still can't shut the phone off, reset it.
Any suggestions.

If the problem continuously happens then I would worry about it.

Then take it out of Lost Mode the same way you put it into Lost Mode: via the Find My iPhone App or www.icloud.com.

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

Hi everyone. We have a user whose iPhone 4 locks up frequently when he's moving around in his Contacts. Also, sometimes when he goes into a contact and starts to type out notes in the notes field the characters will be totally gibberish, and it's not because he's pressing the wrong keys. Double-tap the screen with three fingers to remove magnification. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and turn this OFF.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

IPhone is locked and in lost mode and cannot get it sorted.

My iPhone was stolen, but I managed to get it back. However I put it in Lost Mode while it was gone and now that I have it back I cannot seem to get it out of Lost Mode. When I switch it on it says connect to iTunes so I do and when it's connected a message pops up saying it cannot be connected because it is in Lost Mode and locked. Is there anyway to sort this? Your iphone is probably stolen from someone. I'm not saying you stole it, but there's a possibility that the person you bought it from stole it.

Command + Option + Esc will prompt the Force Quit window.
You can also force quit an app from your Apple menu top left in your screen or by using the Activity Monitor located in Applications/Utilities

Portege 7140CT Shutting Down In Standby Mode - Cannot shut down normally

Hi. I have purchased a Portege 7140CT laptop for my son. This is a fine unit but has a 'Shutdown' problem - in that it wont shutdown, that is. It appears to power down, but the 2nd indicator from the LHS on the front of the unit flashes slowly. The user guide says this happens when the unit enters 'Standby' mode. I have tried all the FN+F3 options (Shutdown, Standby and Hibernate) with no difference. I have disabled the function key facility in Control Panel. I have disabled 'Hibernate' mode in Control Panel. All to no avail. Anyone any idea why this might be happening and how I might resolve? Many thanks for your assistance. Mike

I've never heard of this problem, but maybe reinstalling the system can solve it.
Or maybe reinstalling or updating the BIOS will help.
