IPhone 3G & New Notebook

Hey everyone. I've got a question that I see has been asked many many times by others, and I'm sorry to repost the question. In the past, people who have asked about this issue were mostly interested in finding out how music can be transferred off the iPhone to a new computer. I have no interest in doing this, but I just want to make sure I do things correctly.
I just got a new laptop and created a new iTunes library by importing my entire music collection. All the music currently on my phone is in this new iTunes library on the new machine. However, the new machine is not yet authorized on my account. What steps must I take to set up the connection between the new machine and my iPhone?
1.) Open iTunes
2.) Plug in my iPhone
3.) Authorize the new machine
After these three steps, will I be able to upload audio to my phone? I am not interested in setting up automatic syncing between the phone and the new machine, nor am I looking to transfer files off the phone onto the new machine. Everything that is currently on the phone has already been imported from my external HDD into the new iTunes library. In other words, I did not copy my old iTunes library off my old computer but simply rebuilt it. I am just looking to set up iTunes/iPhone so that I can transfer music onto the phone and delete music off of the phone. Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks much!

Automatically syncing your iPhone when your iPhone is connected to iTunes is up to you. There is a selection for this under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, and iTunes includes a global preference setting to not automatically sync any iPod or iPhone when connected.
If you didn't transfer your iTunes named folder (where all iTunes content is stored) from your old computer to your new computer, more than likely all iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased from your iPhone the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes on your new computer even after authorizing your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes.

  • Sync iPhone on new notebook

I need help. I had my notebook stolen yesterday. On this new notebook I downloaded iTunes again, but my iPhone won't sync. I gave this computer authority already. Am i doing something wrong? Should I download all the apps that I have on my previous notebook all over again? Or is there an easier way?
Sorry if someone has posted something similar before. And thank you for all your help.

What happens when you try to sync? There's no reason it wouldn't sync - but, you will see a message that all your content will be deleted and replaced. That's normal, since the iPhone syncs with one and only one computer for iTunes media content (music, videos, apps, etc.). You can re-download your apps for free and they will be reloaded on the phone. Music should be restored from your backup (external hard drive, hopefully you have one!).

  • HT4623 After i updated my iPhone i realized i do not have my camera anymore how to get it back? I also using a new notebook so I do not have a back up to transfer it from.  Please help

After i updated my iPhone i realized i do not have my camera anymore how to get it back? I also using a new notebook so I do not have a back up to transfer it from.  Please help

I'm assuming you mean you don't have your camera application (which is not saved on any backup anyway).
One way to find it is to get to your home screen, swipe the screen from right to left, and type "Camera" in the search field.  Camera is a core Apple app and cannot be deleted, so it must be there somewhere.
An alternate approach is to do Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout

  • New notebook - how to transfer profile or settings for iTunes

I will be changing to a new notebook in 2 weeks time.
I know if i were to install iTunes in the new notebook and sync with my iPhone, all the data will be wiped clean.
Can anyone help and advise if there are any profile files or settings file which i should back up and copy to my new notebook so that i do not need to reset up all over again?

You need to transfer your iTunes folder and library from your existing PC to your new PC.
With Windows, your iTunes folder is in the “My Music” folder. On a Mac, its just called “Music.”
With iTunes quit on your new PC, transfer your iTunes named folder from within your My Music folder to the same location on your new PC. This will include your iTunes music, video, podcasts, and iPhone applications.
You will also need to authorize your new PC with iTunes with your existing iTunes account. At the iTunes menu bar, go to Store and select Authorize Computer.
You can authorize up to 5 computers with the same iTunes account. If you don't plan on using your existing PC with your iTunes account, you should de-authorize the computer with iTunes.

  • De-authorizing itunes? Several of my authorized pc's have died, and have no way to deauthorize iTunes on them. Now I am unable to synch purchases on my Iphone to new computer with iTunes because I already have 5 computers authorized. What can be done?

Several of my authorized pc laptops and desktops have completely died over the years, and have no way to deauthorize iTunes on them. Now I am unable to synch purchases on my Iphone to new computer with iTunes because I already have 5 computers authorized. What can be done?

Deauthorise all to reset to zero, then authorize again.
    Following quote from Apple Support:
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).

    Hello:
You need to contact "epost."  The issue is not an Apple issue....the epost software needs, I assume, to be updated.

See if this user-tip for syncing to a new computer helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
If you have music from other sources on your phone (e.g. copied from CDs) and you don't have them on a backup, then there are some program listed half-way down this page which might be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • HT4623 how do i sync my iphone with new itunes? I cant find the sync button

how do i sync my iphone with new itunes? I cant find the sync button

The same way you would sync with any other version of iTunes.
    Connect the device.
    Select the device.
    Select Sync.
In the new version of iTunes, the sidebar is disabled by default.  With a device connected, it will be listed in the upper right hand corner.
If you want the side bar back, type Cntrl + S.

How do I move pictures from old iphone to new iphone

If you want to transfer your camera roll photos, along with text messages and other data and settings from your old phone to your new one, back up the old phone then restore the backup to your new one (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2109).  If you only want to transfer the photos, import them from your old phone to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then put them in a folder and sync them to your new phone by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  (Be aware that photos synced to your phone using iTunes can only be deleted later by syncing them off again.  They can't be deleted directly on the phone.)

When you say a new user ID, are you referring to your Apple ID that you use to make purchases in the iTunes Store, etc? Or are you talking about a new user account on the same Mac?

  • How do i transfer my data from old iphone to new iphone

how do i transfer my data from old iphone to new iphone

You need to sync the data from your old iPhone, to the computer via iTunes.  Once the data is on the computer, you then need to sync it to the new iPhone, also via iTunes.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/how-to/#video-sync - this is a link with a short video that teaches you how to sync your iPod / iPhone using iTunes
If you sycn with iCloud, you can also sync some of the data via iCloud.  This may not work for all you music, if it was not purchased via iTunes.

Move the content from the old computer to the new computer.
Sync the iPhone via cable to the new computer and enable Wi-Fi syncing.
It should now be possible to sync via Wi-Fi to the new computer.
