Iphone 3g not responding

hi,
im having serious problems with my iphone 3g.
I was playing music through a radio attatchment in my friends car earlier and after about half an hour the screen went completely white and it hasnt turned on since then.
i know the battery wasnt flat because i charged it up before we left the house.
ive tried connecting it to a mains supply socket and the USB port on my laptop and my desktop but neither of them recognise it as a connection.
I rean the diagnostics in itunes and it wasnt picking up my iphone at all.
ive also tried holding down the sleep button and the home button to hard restore but to no avail. and releasing the sleep button and holding the home button whilst connecting doesnt work either.
ive looked at numerous self help forums but nothing anyone has suggested has made any difference.
I cant afford a new phone and there is some really important information saved on it.
if anyone is having the same problem or has any idea how to help, it would be greatly appreciated.

1. Make sure you hold Sleep/Wake + Home buttons at least 15 seconds.
2. Try using DFU mode.
3. Try using RecBoot to kick it into recovery mode.
Basic troubleshooting steps.

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I've updated my phone, turned it off and on, charged it. Nothing. Help!

Sounds like a hardware problem.  When you updated, that would have wiped the device and installed the latest iOS, thus pretty much eliminating a software issue.  You could try to restore as new, i.e. without your backup and see if it works factory fresh.  If still a problem, it's most likely a hardware issue.

  • IPhone is not responding

My iPhone is not responding it won't turn on when plugged in to my pc the only time the logo turns on is when the USB is plugged in to the wall charger

Try following along with this Apple document -> iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
If that doesn't do it, you might need to get the iPhone replaced.

  • My Iphone is not responding

    Dear Brothers/Sirs.
My Iphone 3G is not responding. yesterday my mobile's battery was full, i didnt charge it. but in night i got a problem, if some one calls me then the other end was unable to listen me. then my battery got down, but it was indicating me that 20% left. i put it on charging, but the phone was not showing that it is on charge. then it got off. and now still it is off. i have changed the data cable/charger. but still it is not responding. what i do ? can you please help. i also tried to connect with itunes and tried to reset. but no response. please help. thank you very much

Which of the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide have you tried? Did you reset the phone? Restore? If it won't turn on or reset, use recovery mode:
    1. Start iTunes
    2. Connect phone to a USB port on the computer (not an external hub or keyboard port).
    3. Press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple icon appears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes sees the phone in recovery mode.
    4. Follow the prompts to restore.
    Update to 3.1.2

  • IPhone will not respond

A few days after updating to 7.0.3 I was using my iPhone 4s to listen to music, and noticed it was unresponsive when I pushed the home button(as well as all of the other buttons). I performed a hard reboot that stopped the music, but the phone didn't come back up. I tried this several more times with no success. I then connected my phone to itunes and of course it wasn't detected. On my drive to work I tried a hard reboot again this time with success. I continued to have problems for the next couple of days before they went away, only to return again today more than two weeks later.
So after my initial problem I noticed that my cell service was searching every time I woke the phone up from being idle. Now if I proceeded to make a call suddenly the service was restored. I also had problems with the phone going to sleep and not waking up unless I performed a hard reset.
I'm now once again unable to power up or hard reboot the phone.

My phone suddenly stopped working last night as well. I have tried every solution (hard restart, DFU mode, plugging into the computer and holding the home button, etc..) provided online and I cannot get it to respond. My lock button and home button have always worked perfectly, so those aren't the problem. I did notice right before it died that when I was attempting to open my messages app, it would lag really bad to where I would have to close the message app and reopen; I then thought to restart it, so I held down the lock button and home button; the phone restarted but all of my messages were missing; then about ten minutes later I went to unlock the phone as normal, and it blinked on and then sudden blackness. Now it's not responding to anything and I can't get any of the remedies to work.

  • The iCloud icon on my iPhone is not responding - help?

The iCloud icon in the settings menu of my iPhone has stopped responding. It's turned a pale grey colour and won't respond when I tap/touch it. (Coincidentally, the same has happened to my Twitter icon in that menu.)
I've searched online, but I can't find any guidance on what to do about it, so any help you can provide here will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Wow that was a quick response, and it was absolutely the right answer as that's fixed the problem immediately. Thank you so much!
