Syncing with Outlook Express isn't listed as a supported program.

I recently updated iTunes to version 11.5.5, and now my iPhone 5 will not sync up completely with iTunes. ITunes will recognize and sync up, but I now cannot manage my music on my phone. Also, all of my playlists on my iPhone were wiped out.  It would be great to retrieve my phone playlists, but more important, be able to manage my music again.  I'm running on Windows 7 and I own iPhone 5.  Suggestions?

I have windows 8, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything, but i figured maybe 11.1.4 just doesn't like 8. soooo.. i went onto my computer settings and uninstalled anything and everything made my apple and then reinstalled itunes 11.1.3 and it now reads my ipod nano happy day thanks apple for making something that you can't help me with at all

If your CDs are on your iPod/iPhone, they can be recovered from there, see this post:

Your problem shows the importance of making backups.

  • IPod Touch will not Sync or restore with iTunes.

I got an iPod Touch 64G on 31/12/09. Since then I've had a very difficult time syncing the iPod with iTunes. I installed iTunes on a Dell Studio 1557 i7 720, 1.60Ghz, 4G DDR3 1067 RAM, 500G HDD, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. When I try to sync the ipod it gives me 3 errors The iPod "Tom's iPod Touch" cannot be synced.(X3) The required file cannot be found, An unkown error occurred (-48), and An unknown error occurred (-6999). I have made sure all my drivers on the computer are up to date. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. I've tired restarting the ipod. I've fully restored my ipod touch. None of these have fixed the issue. I get the same errors. Since I've had the ipod I've only been able to sync it 3 times, and the sync just started working by trying different things, like disconnecting and reconnecting the ipod, or switching to one of the other usb ports, but these little tricks only worked once. At this point the last failed sync has caused my ipod to only play one song and then stop playing, and many of the apps just crash. Syncing the ipod fixed this problem the one time it happend before, and it was very difficult to get it to sync also. Now it wont sync and I've tried reinstalling itunes agian which didn't help. So I'm looking for some help.

Okay ... there have been problems reported with that particular combination of the P55/PM55 chipsets, Windows 7 and syncing.
If your chipset drivers and BIOS are both up to date and you're still getting this, you might have some success using the workaround from the following post. (Unfortunately, not all BIOSes are configurable in this way.)

  • New iPod will not sync song ratings with iTunes

A few months ago I bought an iPhone (my first Apple MP3 player) and loaded it up with some music and everything worked fine between it and iTunes. I would rate some songs on the iPhone and synced it up with iTunes and it transferred those song ratings over with no problems.
I later got rid of the iPhone and bought an iPod 4GB Nano and loaded it up with music but when I rated some songs and synced it up with iTunes it would not transfer the ratings over. It would transfer over the ratings fine from iTunes to the iPod but not the other way around. I removed and reinstalled iTunes and deleted the iTunes folder within the My Music folder on my computer and reloaded iTunes and imported all my music again. Restored and reset my iPod and tried again, it still will not transfer over the song ratings from iPod to iTunes.
So I figured I got a screwed up iPod (it was a refurb) and decided to go ahead and upgrade. Bought a brand new iPod 8GB Nano and the same thing is happening again. Although it's not absolutely critical to be able to rate songs it helps in getting my music library sorted in deciding what to keep or not.
Any idea what to do short of reinstalling Vista or moving my music library over to another computer to sync with?

Hi, I just sorted out this problem for my ipod touch. Jose9550 and Chris in CA did not explain very well how it is to be sorted - their posts helped me but iI sort of discovered it by accident. My main problem was that the ipod did not update itunes with my track ratings made direct with the touch screen whilst listening to tracks.
Here is how I found out how to sort it:
Step 1: Click on the option in the summary screen to manually manage the music on you Ipod. Back up any tracks/playlists that you don't want to lose.
Step 2: Create a few playlists with music that you want on Ipod
Step 3: Click on your Ipod name in Itunes side bar and then select the Music tab on the main panel on the right. Now click on the check box "Sync Music". This will bring up a prompt that all your music /playlists currently on the Ipod may be erased. Accept this message and then click on check box "Selected playlists". Now pick the playlists/playfolders you want synced. Click apply.
Step 4: Go into the menu bar in itunes and select Edit>Preferences>Devices> and uncheck box beside "Disable Automatic syncing for IPhones and IPods"
Now any changes made to the playlists/tracks etc on the desktop or IPod will be transferred in both directions.

  • IPhone 3GS not syncing purchased music to ITunes on Windows desktop.

When I plug iPhone into USB port on desktop, iTunes goes through the regular operation with photos and syncing purchased applications. However, it does NOT sync the music I purchased on the iPhone to my desktop. iTunes is to sync manually. When I select "Transfer Purchases from iPhone" nothing happens

it does NOT sync the music I purchased on the iPhone to my desktop.
It won't, the itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you manually manage music, and the computer you're connected to is authorized, you must use File>Transfer Purchases once your phone appears in the left device pane, is that what you're doing?

  • IPhone will not sync at all with computer

Been able to use this computer forever with every generation of iPhone and iPod I've had (which isn't much, but I know it works). Anyways, ever since the IOS 7 update I have had a ton of trouble getting new music and new playlists onto the phone. It is starting to get ridiculous.
My iPhone 5 is version 7.0.4
    iTunes is version 11.1.3
    (both are the current versions)
I am not able to sync new music onto the phone, whether it's bought or ripped from a CD. I cannot even delete music from the phone, so I can't unsync then sync again. It's literally like my phone is locked and I can't do anything to it right now for the past 2 or 3 weeks.
I've tried a lot of things and looked up how to fix it here, but nothing has worked so far. I guess if you have any suggestions please let me know. Not sure why, when so many people buy these overpriced items, these things seem to always have problems with basic functions.

    EDIT:
I just bought another song to test it again and it seemed to sync.... but I get most of my music from CD rips. What could be causing them to not sync?? Sorry for the change in subject.

  • IPhone 3G cannot sync contacts/calendar with iTunes 7.7 in Vista

    My environment:
    Computer - PC
OS - Windows XP Pro SP2
Apple Products - iPhone 3G with Itunes 7.7
Software - Miscrosoft Office with Outlook 2003
    Laptop Vaio FZ21M
    OS - Windows Vista SP1
Apple Products - iPhone 3G with Itunes 7.7
Software - Miscrosoft Office with Outlook 2007
When I connect my iPhone 3G to the laptop, iTunes launch, but in Info tab I don't get the option to sync Contacts or Calendar. The only message that appears is "Your contacts are being pushed to your iPhone over the air from Microsoft Exchange"
On the other hand when I connect iPhone 3G to desktop with Windows XP SP2, I get the option to sync contacts with Outlook/Gmail Address Book/Yahoo Address Book, etc. Today I performed an update to iTunes, installing version 7.7.046 ,but the problem persists.
A collegue of mine has excactly the same problem, he is also using a laptop running Windows Vista SP1 , iTunes 7.7 but Outlook 2003 instead. When he connects iPhone 3G, he doesn't get the option to sync Contacts or Calendar. Email sync option is available.
Is there anything we can do?

I had the same problem with my 3G phone.  I solved it as follows
    1) Go to preferences in your address book and delete the iCloud.  This will revert your address book to 'On My Mac'.
    2) Turn off your iCloud account in system preferences.
    3) Run iTunes, enable sync contacts and under advanced, replace information on this phone, enable contacts.
    4) Press apply button and sync should begin. Itunes will now load your contact file into the phone.
    5) Re-enable your iCloud account.

  • My 4s will not sync by usb with iTunes

After updating my 4s phone and windows 8 iTunes on 3-14-2014 I could no longer play my podcasts that were from an outside websight. They never showed up on the new podcast app they were under audio books when apple added the app and removed the podcast feture from the music app. but now my podcasts are showing up only in the new podcast app but will only play by streaming from the web sight. Even after calling in for help, the associate from apple is still investigating the issue. Well I discovered that my iTunes had another update between 3-14-14 and now so I updated it and then attempted to change the podcasts that I loaded on the phone. It let me "apply" the change but the sync was hazy and not responsive and didn't sync.  I tried changing books and audio books on iTunes whit the same result. "Apply" works but not "sync" Now I am not new to iTunes, though the updates often cause me to need to call in to get help doing something that previously I had done hundreds of times. I know how to sync my phone with the USB cable. I have moved added and deleted items from my phone using iTunes for years now.  I started with a 2nd generation iTouch, so I know when the program has changed and when to say HELP. I am doing that now.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • IPhone does not sync Calendar events with iCloud

I have a Calendar which is synced with my iPhone, iCloud and MacBook Air.  Calendar events are synced between iCloud and the MacBook, but not between iCloud and iPhone.  I tried Reset, but it still does not synce between iCloud and iPhone.

Try force-closing the calendar app on your phone: double-tap the home button, locate Calendar in the list, swipe up on the image above the app icon to close it, tap the home button again.  Now reset the phone by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo and release.  Test your calendar again.  Any change?

  • My iphone does not sync unless I reinstall iTunes every 2 or 3 syncs.

Recently my iPhone 4G has stopped being recognized by iTunes. I tried everything, rebooting the iPhone, the MacBook Pro, switching USBs...
Reinstalling iTunes fixes the issue, for a couple of syncs, then it happens again. I can't keep reinstalling iTunes each time I need to sync my phone.
THe same thing happens with my iPad.
    Any idea?

    I found a solution
I uninstalled the latest version and downloaded an older version but the problem kept on going.
I followed the steps from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
I went into If only Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod appears
and followed the steps and its working now.

  • IPhone 6 Plus not syncing its photos with iTunes

I would like to sync all the pix and videos taken with my iPhone 6 Plus to my iTunes on Windows 7 using wifi.
I have checked the appropriate boxes but all it did was to create the iPhone photo cache folder in the designated folder on my Win 7 box. I have also tried syncing manually when the iPhone was connected using the USB cable but no dice.
    - Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected is CHECKED
    - Sync with this phone over Wi-Fi is CHECKED
    - The iPhone and my computer both of plenty of space
    - All patches have been applied to both the iPhone and the computer
    - iTunes is the latest version
    - There are approx 900 pix and videos combined and all have been taken with this phone
    - My Windows 7 box is connected to my LAN via an Ethernet cable
    - My iPhone is connected to my home network
Am sure the question has been beaten to death...so apologies in advance.

You don't sync photos taken on your iPhone.
To get them there attach your iPhone to a USB port on the PC. The iPhone should be recognized as a Camera and you can then load the photos to your PC.
If you would like to do this wirelessly there are Apps like Photo Transfer which will do the job.

  • IOS 5.0.1 will not sync over WiFi with iTunes....

Is there anyone else with this same issue? I've only found one other thread on this in Support so far. If that's the case then I'm thinking maybe I have a system issue rather than iTunes or iOS.
Basically all my devices (4 total, 2 iPhone 4's, 1 iPad 2nd Gen and one iPad 1st Gen) show up on iTunes in the left side and I can click on them where general info will show up but that is all I can do. If I try and see music, apps, etc. it drops each device out and disappears. They will then reconnect and come back up on iTunes but I still cannot do anything further.
I can also try the sync button on each iOS device but then again the device will drop off of iTunes and I will not be able to sync.
Let me know if anyone else is having any issues with this.
    Thanks,
    Lew

I am having the same issue with my 1st gen iPad (3G/64GB).
After updating to iOS 5.0.1 over the weekend, I cannot sync to iTunes (10.5) under OS X 10.6.8. It does not seem to matter whether or not I have WiFi sync enabled.
I plug in my iPad to the USB cable, In the iTunes status window, I see a very brief message stating "Syncing with Grace." Then a very brief message stating "Cancelling Sync" or "Finishing Sync". Then I see a message stating "Waiting for sync to start".
The sync then times out after two minutes with a message "The iPad 'Grace' could not be synced, because the sync session failed to start."

  • If apple app store has an app to sync windows phone with itunes called windows connector, and windows phone and apple are competitors, why doesnt apple make an app for android that syncs itunes without a third party software

I want to simply sync my android and my mac itunes without downloading any software. Windows phone has an app to do that even though apple and windows phone are competitors. Why does android not make an app or why doesnt apple create an software or something

Apple didn't create the Windows Phone app (Microsoft). Apple has nothing to do with this, and Google should do an app for this
