IPhone 3G Restore problem

Hi all,
I am having trouble with my iPhone, basically a week ago it locked itself gave a garbled message and then required a restore. I have tried and it either got 'stuck' at the very end of the progress bar on the phone display, or tonight I got a 'cannot be restored' message with error code 1002.
Can anyone help me with this? I am loathed to buy a new phone, or pay for it to be repaired, especially as it is only two months out of warranty and I am still paying o2 £45.00 per month minimum.......

While I cannot help with the phone problem, but I'm sure someone can and will, did you know that after nine months on contract you can ask O2 to downgrade your tariff by one band? I went from £45 to £35, no penalties and no problems.

You could try to use another USB port, check your security software settings or see if you can restore on another computer.

IPhone 1G Restore Problem

I am having a problem restoring my iPhone in iTunes where it does not seem to come out of recovery mode. It appears to load all the new iPhone software and firmware just fine and iTunes says that it will appear in iTunes. But it always comes back and says that it is still in recovery mode and that I need to do a restore - again. I have updated iTunes, tried multiple USB ports, and multiple computers but nothing has worked. Anyone experience similar issues?

Pls try the steps as following:
1. Connect the iPhone with iTunes.
2. Hold the Menu button and Power button at same time for 12 seconds.
3. Release the Power button and keep hold the menu button for 8 seconds.
4. When iTunes mount the iPhone, Click "Restore"
5. After finished restore, Check if the problem has been resolved..
6. Suggestion that you using Mac OS to do restore.

whilst i am restoring my iphone, half way through i get a error message, unknown error 29 which does not allow restore to complete. At the moment when i switch my phone on it comes up with the usb and itune sign please help

My problem is that after getting the update for ios 7.0.2 this happened to my phone and now I can´t even restore it, i´m fuming when a recommended update makes all my data in my phone to disappear! Is there some way to get my data back?

Hi I have tried this so many times and I just get stuck with the blank screen and the white circle I have done it for over six hours and nothing has happened…I can’t not take it back to the shop as I recently jail broke it, hence to why I want to restore factory settings… I just seem to be going round in circles and nothing is happening… I have the iPhone 4and it’s version is the latest one… Please can anyone help me to either a different way of restoring it which I may put out there a successful and easy and quick way!! You need to restore it though iTunes on your computer. Try using DFU mode.

Once i click restore, my phone runs through a bunch of stuff (like it's being restored) then gives me an unknown error, and fails. Any ideas?

Try to Restore iPhone on a different computer, to see if you can get it working. If still a problem, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

okay. I forgot my iphone password so Im planning to restore it.
but before that, i have to make sure that ALL my files will be save when I click the Restore button on iTunes.
so i already checked the encrypt local backup and yes, I can remember the password.
then later, it's start backing up.
is that mean i saved all my data and ready to restore it ?

Hi Naero-Suiz,
I am not completely certain I understand your question, but it is of little consequence. If you forgot your password the only way to recover is to restore your iPhone from its backup. There is no other alternative.
By restoring it, your iPhone will be restored to the exact same condition that existed when it was last synced with your computer.

i have an iphone4 it's my daughters old phone and has been unlocked, also new sim has been activated, i'm now told i have to use itunes as final step to activate the phone i've tried restore ios device to factory settings but when i try to follow the onscreen instructions it keeps dissapearing and i'm getting nowhere i down loaded latest itunes before attempting this, what am i doing wrong, i'm sure it is something simple but as i'm a bit of a technophobe i'm finding this frustrating, can someone please put me right, many thanks

Received the phone in the mail, then after a couple of tries with iTunes, it kept freezing up. So, I decide to click the restore button to factory settings and clear out the music/podcasts/etc. that was downloaded in the prior failed attempts. Well, less than half an hour of owning this machine, iTunes gives me an error stating: "iPhone" could not be restored. An unkown error occured (1611)
The screen is blank, and now I have this cute paper weight on my desk. So disappointed I am. Anyone else experience this?

Now if you are usen the operating system windows here is a simple trick
my iphone 3gs and 4 wouldn't restore so I found out an easy way I know bit of as nerd.
When you click the restore button on Itunes it says extracting then does nothing during this process Hit CNTRL + ALT + DEL and End itunes in the menu then reload Itunes and click restore should work keep trying it eventually works
hope this helps I know how frustrating this is and also try swapping USB ports aswell

Your phone is in recovery mode. Did you plug it to the computer running itunes? What happend?

Problem recovering new iPhone 4, Stuck on "Preparing iphone for restore", then giving an error message

I recently bought an iPhone 4, and it worked just fine, until I tried to sync it with iTunes. Whenever I would try to sync it, it would stall somewhere in the process, and then an error message would come up eventually. It would say something along the lines of "Process timed out, Internal Harware error" or somthing like that, there were several error messages.
So then I tried to restore the phone. I did it through iTunes, and eventually the process stalled on the "Preparing iPhone for restore" part, and then it would give me an error message (4013). My phone is stuck on the connect to itunes screen. When I do connect it to iTunes it says that the phone is in recorvery mode and that and needs to be restored. So again, I try to restore it and it gets stalled in the "Preparing iPhone for restore" part. I have also recieved the 2005 error code. I have tried to fix it by unplugging all other USB's, using a different USB port, disabling firewalls ect.. I have the newest version of iTunes, and my phone is running 7.0.3 (Can't update now that the restore is necessary, and I couldn't update anyways because the same problem I had syncing it occured when I tried to update.) I have Windows XP.

Error 1 is a baseband error. If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution of this problem. If no coverage then search the Web for Error 1. Users have reported some success with this Error 1.

Try to reboot the iPhone, if that doesn't help make a backup via iTunes, and restore the iPhone via iTunes.
Otherwise disable background refresh, and kill all apps
